I have a serious complaint about Jonathan. Every time I walk in, he smiles at me and tells me to have a good workout. Like???? Why is he telling me what to do??? The audacity to wish me well is just wild. The rest of the staff are absolutely diabolical. Always warm and welcoming. It’s honestly exhausting to be greeted by such cheerful people. I came here to lift weights, not my spirits. If they keep being this friendly and encouraging, I might accidentally get in shape. Don’t they know I wanted a cold, miserable gym experience? Instead I got kindness and community. Ugh! If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would. Definitely recommend.

Decent gym but would be more time efficient if the staff was on the same page. This isn’t my home gym but I have been coming since I’ve been home from school for the summer. The first time I was asked for ID which was expected. The second time I just scanned at the front. The third time, after I scanned, they asked me to sign the sheet. The fourth time, I was only asked to scan. The fifth time, I was asked to scan and fill out the sheet. The sixth time, they asked for my ID again. Staff said it was because I don’t have a picture on file but they’re unable to add one. I go to my car to get my ID and a different employee is at the scanner. He scans me and tells me I’m all set— no ID needed and when I said I was asked to go get my ID, he was confused. Don’t send people back out to their cars if it clearly isn’t that important.

When I was first told to sign the sheet and I asked why I had to, the employee told me it was so “if I got hurt on site they could prove I was here.” The scanning doesn’t do that? The cameras don’t do that? I never know what I’m expected to do when I walk in. I started going out of my way to the Taylor location where the check in process is consistent and the paper towel machines are never empty.

This place is always understaffed. When you get someone to actually help you, these poor workers do their best and always get things done right. But the lack of staff really speaks to the working conditions the managers put them through. Gotta be some kind of hiring issue with the managers or just more issues from the top. Probably gonna cancel my membership soon and just switch to something local idk man it just doesn't feel like it's worth it to support this place.

Planet Fitness is a very clean gym. Sanitizing stations are throughout the gym floor for wiping down equipment after use. The staff and the people using the gym are also very friendly too. The people working out here are of many different generations, not just young ones and range from beginners to advanced levels. We're happy that we joined Planet Fitness and it has helped us to feel some strength now, so we can continue to enjoy hiking/walking, when we are on vacations or at home.

The staff here are super friendly and everything is always clean and the cleaning liquid is always topped off. The staff are super on top of keep this location in tip-top shape. I love this Gym!!! I have been coming to this gym off and on over the years. I recently moved to Redford and had to go to another gym. I tried two other planet fitness’s and none compared! This location is not over packed like all the other gyms it’s just perfect. Allows you to do what you have to do and get out. I currently live in Redford and take the drive here. This gym is way more spacious compared to the other 2 gyms i tried.

I have been going to planet fitness for years and have recently moved out to this area and started going to this gym about 3 weeks ago. I stopped going to the gym about a year ago due to heath reasons so am trying to get back into the swing of things. I have NEVER had issues with a planet fitness until now. Every time there is ONE staff member here she stops me, she has stopped me saying she didn’t check me in and couldn’t find my name (the male manager checked me in an hour before she had got there and found my name with ease), she has stopped me to tell me to change my address not giving a reason as to why I had to change it or what was wrong with it no matter how many times I asked, and other instances where she has stopped me, she has stopped me a total of 4 times with SOMETHING. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with a gym. I would like to cancel my membership or transfer to another gym or honestly just be able to go when she’s not there. Every other staff member has been extremely nice and helpful so I don’t want anyone to think the gym as a whole is bad. Any other time I go when she isn’t there I have zero issues, no one will randomly stop me and any questions I have they help me with ease and are very friendly even with gym advice. The gym is also very clean and they have pretty good equipment. But to stop me with some excuse (never able to give a reason when I ask why I was stopped she will just stop me) 4 out of the 9 times I’ve been here and the 4 times is everytime she has been there is ridiculous.

Great customer service, clean facility. I highly recommend this gym. I had an issue where I accidentally signed up for the Canton Planet Fitness - Canton was horrible - they would not let me cancel without coming in even though it was an hour drive. Doug from Canton kept saying he couldn't do anything about it as the manager. While I was on the phone, the Westland receptionists and front desk people were listening and after the call, they apologized for the inconvenience. While Doug was non-apologetic, blaming me (sure I should of read it but still he was rude), the Westland people actually offered to waive the first month for me given the frustrations I was having.

Further they also let me cancel without coming in i.e. over the phone. Doug will say repeatedly it's in the contract 20 times. Sorry but your gym franchise manager or whatever is in charge of that and it was the front desk people at Westland who waived my fee so you can't do anything as a manager Doug Canton?

If you are between Westland and Canton, I highly recommend you do Westland instead of Canton. Canton was horrible, Westland customer service was amazing. I cannot say enough about it.

The only reason I’m not giving 1 star is because the staff, excluding the manager here, are great, kind and very professional. Chloe, the manager, is very rude, unprofessional, doesn’t have any information on how to do anything with the logistics of my membership, demands money from black card members. Every other staff member is way more helpful than she could possibly be.

Edit: she took it upon herself to switch my home gym to this location and cancel my membership. My actual home gym confirmed that is what happened. Because I tried to get information from her I am now “banned” from this club. I need this to make sense. I can’t request information from a manager or else I get banned? I come here everyday, I work out, and I go home. I ask a few simple questions and now I’m not allowed in this club? I will be taking all appropriate actions against Chloe, I don’t think anyone in this community should feel bullied or threatened just because of an incompetent employee.

The manager allow racist actions by their employees and backs it up.
It's always something with those people up there. I'm tired of it.
I been a member for 20 years and this is the only place that does this at every level. One day they going to get PF in a whole lot of illegal problems.
You can tell the whole vibe there is mess up because there employees never stick around and It's like they get a new manager every month.
It's crazy.
They go through black employees and mangers as well. This just the second time I had a incident, but I have seeing plenty. I love the members and the vibe as far as working out, but it be the employer and employees that be disfunctional.

Everyone is very friendly except the white women who work at this location. The smaller one is especially unfriendly. I have only had one speak to me once since I started. The men (no matter the race) are always friendly and respectful.

I wonder why the women are so sour? They just look through me and my teen daughter like we're invisible most of the time. And the one instance when I asked the smaller one a question, she was snarky and rude in her response. Like I was bothering her to simply reply yes or no.

But other than that, I like the gym itself because it's rarely super crowded. There are lots of machines and equipment and they keep it pretty clean.

I've been a member for over a year. I go on break from work, workout and return I usually scan my code. This day July 5 I do the norm and never got questioned about ID which I left at work with purse. I was turned around no warning or next bring. I've been to 3 different Planet Fitness locations. I like this one due to its overall size. Employees are always cleaning the place. I will say the management here had been a bit stricter on things that I didn't find at the Livonia location like not being able to carry a bag with me (it's in their rules but no one ever called me out on it in Livonia). They also stopped a member from using 2 machines when the place was super slow and no one was using the 2nd machine (he was doing super sets or something). Again I think management was or is a bit strict on things. Oh, and they have row machines, and the Livonia one didn't when I was a member there last (and I wanted the row machines back then for training). Still love Planet Fitness!

P.S. In response to the owner: the gal that gave me a hard time is either no longer at this location or works a shift different than when I go. And one more FYI: I actually took pics the day of and days following her demand that I stop carrying a bag with me, showing that other members (and not in short supply), carrying some sort of "bag" with them in the gym. I have recently started carrying a very small bag (for workout gloves and lifting hooks) and no one has said a word to me. Which I appreciate.

Canceled my account years ago. Recently signed up at a different location closer to my house and upon my second day to the gym Iam stopped and told I owe about 50 dollars. Apparently a few years ago when I canceled my account it was done incorrectly and I was still being charged. After a few months of charges it was sent to collections. Never got any emails, mail notifications or phone calls about money I owed they just kept charging me. SCAMMERS!!!. Make sure you get a signed letter stating your account has been canceled don’t fall for a nod and a promise of an email later. You will pay for it, at least 5 months of charges.

Thanks for the reply. If you were as tenacious to protect your reputation as you were to honest business practices, you would have a perfect rating. Unfortunately, reaching out has gotten me nowhere but disappointment that’s why I have left this review to warn everybody about Planet fitness shady business practices. GOOSE and RENEE ARE SERVICE GURUS!

When it comes to service at this Planet Fitness, GOOSE & RENEE are STELLAR.

As an urban-appearing Black man, some of the staff look at me, and don’t say a word when I come in to the club. They stare at the computer, and hope to see that my membership is not valid. Once my membership is validated, they stare stupidly at the screen.

But NOT GOOSE OR RENEE! They both greet me every time that I enter the establishment, and they both do so with a HUGE smile.

They are friendly with all of the guests, as is the General Manager, whom I had the pleasure of speaking with late last month.

The club is very clean, and never overcrowded, making it the perfect place for your after work workouts!

Keep up the amazing work Goose and Renee! I commend you two for not being a racist, like the tall slim woman with glasses who NEVER speaks to Black people.
