Two years ago this was a great gym with a fantastic personal trainer. They have not had a personal trainer now for at least 15 months - so no classes, no guidance, but the same charge. A woman who said she was the manager (and was not especially polite) told me it’s because it’s ‘hard to find someone good enough.’ Hard to believe that if the will and good salary were really there, a competent and fully certified person could not have been found within a year.
To add insult to injury, they insisted on charging me an extra month because I cancelled my membership only 4 days before the next billing cycle.
On a positive note, I will say that the regular staff is very friendly and the gym is very clean.

Decent well priced gym. Very clean and friendly staff. I would just like to say, with the recent closure for the "updates" kind of a joke. No new equipment?!? Just new wall paper and equipment moved around. I went to the southgate location during the closure and I have to say, southgate has much better weight training equipment even a limited amount of free weights. I was hoping woodhaven would have done something like that but, nope... same old stuff. Very disappointing!

It's time to find another gym. Woodhaven doesn't have a trainer on staff, and now they are removing the only self guided interval training by eliminating the 30 minute workout zone. Not to mention that staff claims to have no control over the thermostat.

The worst planet ever! They let anyone take their shoes off to do squats and leg press but if you have ugg shoes on, or cross, they judge you in the " no judgement" zone. He told me I can't have boots even though I have walmart shoes, with laces . He judged me for having my paint covered work shoes, I do construction and have to make it after work. Yes I'm mexican. I thought I was in a safe space SMH 😕

Everytime I'm at this gym there is a female member standing at the counter talking to the staff. She's there for hours, making it difficult to check in or talk to staff. A couple of staff members just talk to her and never do anything productive. It's just strange and I've never seen something like this at any other gym.
I can only edit to respond to the owner. The assistant manager and manager take part in this behavior, so they will be no help.
It creates an atmosphere that is unfriendly to members. The regular greeting and goodbye does not happen when the staff is engaged with this member- friend.

I was trying to update my credit card information with the audience of a member who always lingers at the desk to overhear other member conversations and socialize with her friend Keira. I had enough and asked to be called by the district manager. That was 3 weeks ago. This is the most unprofessional management team.

This planet fitness in woodhaven is run very well just like the rest of the other planet fitnesses I have worked out at.
This one I can say I especially like and I've been there quite a few times even though I don't live in the area.
Mostly because I've been around there in the woodhaven area for other business.
It's very clean all the times I've been there and the staff and the people that come in there are all very friendly.
In fact most people in the downriver area are particularly friendly!
So much so that I playfully tell people when I'm down river I feel like I'm enjoying southern hospitality! I'm talking about the kind you find in the deep South such as North Carolina and Texas.
Planet fitness is a great place to work out and you can't beat the cost.
I personally highly recommend this woodhaven planet fitness.
Like I said the staff is great! Especially one of the lead staffers named Kara!

The two employees working the front counter were very rude and inconsiderate to my deaf girlfriend when she requested a massage chair. They acted very insulting and made the process very frustrating for both of us. We felt very unwelcome and will not be coming to this PF again.

Black card holder. I like going to a PF near work and another one near home. Black card also lets you bring a guest. I've taken clients, co-workers and sometimes even my hairdresser.

PFs that I frequent are all pretty clean. They have friendly staff too! At the beginning you'll have questions, and their staff never makes you feel stupid to ask away.

If you want to make your body look and feel better, what are you waiting for? Heck for that matter being in shape cures depression, gives you more energy, workouts improve circulation to your brain making your sharper and smarter.

I'd give this PF location 5 stars honestly but for their antiquated instance that black card members manually sign in with a pen and paper.

Why do they need my email and to print my name, then sign? All that is already stored digitally on my account. I see the disclaimer about the State of Michigan, but it can be done electronically, or , at least put the sign up sheets out of public view.

No the pen is not sanitized either.

Are they selling my information?

Let alone anyone could come up and photograph that personal information, as it is left open on the counter.

Otherwise this is a good gym. Clean, with attentive employees.

The gym is kept clean except for the locker room. The showers and dressing rooms haven't been cleaned in a LONG time, mold and mildew growing in the showers. The changing rooms haven't been mopped in months, you can tell because iv seen the same dirt in the corners since i starting paying attention.
My wife will not go there in the mornings or evenings anymore because the parking lot lights do not work and it's very dark in the corner of the shopping center, and it's not the safest parking lot.
Half of the televisions don't work with headphones, multiple employees ave been told about all these issues, but nothing is ever done.
My wife and I have been going to the club since it originally opened and it has gone down hill. I will ad pictures of the showers.
The health department should stop in there.

I've been to this location many times. It's a good one. As for transgender people working out there... PF has an inclusive policy. They make it super clear. Don't like it? Go somewhere else. or use the private changing rooms, like I do, because I don't like ANYONE seeing me naked.

My son has been using my membership, i didnt think it was a big deal, he's been going for over a month and has taken friends with him but tonight he was stopped by the red headed female after he scanned in and then she ask him my information. Kind of suspect but then I realized he was with his AA friend and that explained it all. I went up there about 10 minutes later and all she was doing was smiling at me and wouldn't speak to me while the male worker spoke with me as I cancelled my membership. I gladly would get him his own membership but after seeing her and how she was acting. Id rather spent 35-50 a month thats not employing people who only see the color of someone skin. In this day and age gyms come and go! Losing a loyal customer of 10 years what a shame!

I workout here on my off-days from my personal trainer. Have been coming since they opened I believe about eight or nine years ago and am down about 50 pounds total and am much stronger. Staff is very friendly and facility is well-kept.

I haven’t utilized my planet fitness membership since everything was shut down due to covid. So I finally decided to return and bring my teenager. The site clearly states they must be accompanied with a parent or guardian. When I get there (Woodhaven MI location), I wasn’t use to the new scan your phone. I inquired wow when did this occur. So as I downloaded the app on my phone, I advised them that I had my teenage son with me as a visitor. I stated this is a headache and mumbled to myself out of frustration. So the young staff advised me that I needed a birth certificate for him to verify that I was his parent. I then advised him he has an enhanced ID to verify his age. I then asked why was it necessary for a birth certificate because a guardian wouldn’t have their name on the certificate. They were all smirking and stated that’s the only form of identification that they have to obtain to sign him in as a guest. I guess they thought I was about to leave thinking I didn’t have said document to produce at that time. I then inquired how was a guardian able to bring a person if their name isn’t on the birth certificate. One person whispered to the other and left. The person claiming to be part of management stated that, that was what they had to follow. I know it was BS. I contacted corporate, who initially stated they had to have the birth certificate. When I then inquired about the guardian not being capable of having this their story changed. Corporate was literally NO HELP at all. They were trying to say anything to appease me, but that didn’t work and I called them out on it. They need to train their staff to not present themselves in a puerile way. I thought every business dealing with the public are supposed to have professional staff. But if they hire immature kids that’s what you get.

This is my 5th or 6th year at this Planet fitness. All the staff members are very nice , kind, & helpful. The place is clean. My favorite thing is training with a personal trainer. Mr. Michael. He is the best trainer, he is knowledgeable about his work & more. I get nutritional information. He is caring, kind, a good listener & very helpful. I can go on & on talk about his talents. Another business using the art of deceiving. I got a black card because i wanted me and my guest to use the massage chairs and tanning beds and such but come to find out my guest can't use these things. Which wasn't explained to me when I was paying for the membership. If I'm bringing a guest its because I'm going to spend time with that person at the gym not to be like "ok I'll see u later I'm going to the massage chair good luck working out". Secondly cleaning the equipment is not my job. They should hire people to constantly clean the equipment I'm not paying for a membership to be a maid. And last but not least the staff at times are very rude.

Love this PF! VERY handicapped accessible!
We're members here not so much for the fitness equipment but because the shower facilities are handicapped accessible. My daughter is no longer able to get to the shower on the second floor of our house so we go here.
The staff is super! Extra shout out to Anna!!! When she found out why we were going there and we said how great the facilities were, except there wasn't a shower chair but we would bring one if they would let us keep it there, she took it to her bosses and got a bench installed in the shower!! It is such a relief to have a place for her to get a full shower without a huge struggle. Literally a weight lifted off of my shoulders.
For those interested, there are barrier free bathrooms, counters high enough to roll a wheelchair under--with mirrors low enough to use--and hair dryers right there. Whoever designed the locker room even made sure there's a bank of accessible lockers without a bench in front of them for easy reach (and a seat right there for me so I can help her).

Great Planet Fitness to workout at during the age of COVID. Everytime I have gone to workout, 1 or 2 staff members are cleaning the gym top to bottom. It doesn't matter of I am there at 6am or noon or even 10pm; the staff keeps the gym looking great.

I have been a member at several other Planet Fitness' in metro Detroit and this one stands out.

We recently moved to the area and started going to the Woodhaven PF about 3 weeks ago! The customer service has been has been horrible! They are drastically changing their hours and won't be a 24/7 operation, which is what I signed up for. With the reduced hours, they are still going to be charging the same rate is if they were operating 24/7. The Southgate location is still going to be 24/7, but Woodhaven and the locations in it's Franchise Group are all getting the new limited hours. With reduced hours should come a reduced monthly rate. It makes absolute zero sense.

Anytime Fitness down the street is a 24/7 gym and that might be an option for many who will now be displaced and inconvenienced by Planet Fitness' poor decision.
