This is a nice location; renovated several years ago with all new everything -- equipment, locker rooms, TVs, 2 types of HydroMassage beds, and much more. The staff is friendly. The entire location is maintained and cleaned regularly, though it gets busy and members don't always wipe down the equipment.
I go there at least 5 days/week, less on nice days. It tends to be warm to very-warm inside.

The facility is awesome and so are the people you meet. But today I told If you are a guest you have to leave when the member of the gym leaves. 🤔 Unfortunately, this is the first time I have been told this by any staff. If that's the rules, it sucks to treat your guests like children that need supervision. I was considering joining but not if they treat people like that.

The gym was great…. But they updated it. The new machines are way worse. The changed the leg extension, it’s worse. The new hamstring curl is borderline dangerous if you lift heavier weights as the latch for the pad to hold ur legs doesn’t move if there’s upward pressure on it. The new peck fly is way worse. It’s cool that there’s more free weights but no reason to go here over the ones in Ann Arbor unless they are out of the way. Terrible “upgrade”

Update to the facility appears to focus heavily on cardio training and backsides on strength conditioning. Almost exclusively stairmasters and treadmills. That's all you see when you walk in. I do both cardio and strength, so they really don't fit my preferences anymore. Will try Crunch Fitness nextdoor.

I at least want to give this place 2 stars because the rest of the staff are great. I just started coming to this gym and it's just a come in work out rarely speak but when I do I would say I'm nice. So i decided to go to the massage chairs and I'm not sure what was wrong with the person working but her attitude was just terrible. She was rude how she spoke to me and she just seemed annoyed from the most simplest of things. I went to the massage chair just gaslighting myself thinking maybe I was thinking to hard into it. But then another member walked in and and told me that the same staff member was so rude to him and that he noticed that they were also rude to me. Thankfully I wasnt going crazy but that staff member at least needs to get talked to. Next time I will politely tell her how rude and just utterly disgusting her attitude is. I come to the gym to work out not to deal with staff members poor attitudes and terrible work ethic. I have to come here because it is the closest gym from where I live now. But like I said the rest of the staff are always super nice. This staff member worked 1/17/24 and it was around 9:30pm. I wasn't going to say anything but after the other member came in to tell me how rude they were I just had to.

I canceled my membership at this Planet Fitness after over two years due to the blatant disrespect I experienced. An employee named “MALIK ”falsely accused me of improperly signing in as a guest and escalated the situation by cussing at me, pointing fingers, and accusing me of being ‘hostile.’ He even proudly claimed that the cameras don’t record audio, implying there would be no accountability for his actions.

When I raised the issue with the manager, Austin, he was polite and tried to mediate, but instead of addressing Malik’s unprofessional behavior, he suggested we ‘talk it out.’ Malik flat-out refused to apologize, and Austin failed to enforce any accountability for his staff’s actions.

This incident made it clear that this location doesn’t value respect or professionalism. I can’t support a gym that allows an employee to treat members this way without consequences. If you’re considering joining, think twice about how management handles serious issues. I hope corporate steps in to address this unacceptable behavior.

This is an excellent place to work out! It's great for folks who want to spend little money and have a space to be their best. Sensational staff and facility! Never have to wait for machines and even the extra perks that Black card members have access to. Clean, accessible locker rooms, with changing rooms inside them as well. So, if you are shy, have accessibility needs, or are trans like me, you can pop into one of those to change clothes. Showers have a dark purple curtain that closes all the way, a corner shelf to hold stuff while in the shower, and a hook outside for a towel.

I’ve been happy with the Ypsi Planet Fitness for the month I’ve been using the facility. It is clean with plenty of equipment available. I rarely go at the busy times, but even then I’m able to use cardio equipment when I want. The strength training does get crowded at busy times but still you could get in there with a brief wait or by alternating with someone. Staff are friendly. They greet customers every time as far as I can tell. I gave four stars just because there are small things here and there like bike straps on the floor so it’s not flawless. But nothing that’s ever gotten in the way of a workout.

The equipment is badly worn in places, verging on appearing unsafe. Cracked insulation on machine cables, cracked vinyl seating on many machines, handles with rubber grips that seem to be threatening to detach at any moment - at least most of the staff is friendly. Just be careful - if somebody shouts over you on the way to use the massage bed, you may not get to use it that day, unless you have 20m to spare. Avoid.

The Ypsilanti club is a nice place. Only negative thing with Planet Fitness is they keep the wights to the bare minimal weight amounts to discourage people that workout on a regularly.
It's not any specific club it's a franchise mandate. The more people that pay for the membership but never use it the better.
The no judgement Zone that is very Judgmental against people who use their membership.

I've had a Planet Fitness membership for about 4 years but have always run into obstacles to regularly going. I personally always felt self-conscious when going to a gym but thanks to Erik and Courtney who work nights at this location, they made me feel comfortable, showed me some equipment to use and overall made the experience very enjoyable. if it wasn't for them, I doubt I would have gotten out of my previous mindset. I honestly couldn't thank them enough for their help!

As far as gyms go, it’s there. Plenty of cardio machines, not nearly as many weight machines as needed. Desk Employees rarely even acknowledge me as I scan in, not even a hello. Cleanliness doesn’t seem to be a priority, as paper towels and cleaning spray was empty in 2 different spots for the hour and a half I was there. But like I said, it’s there, rain, sun, or snow, when you need to get some cardio in. Best served as a back up gym membership
