Worst customer experience I have ever had.

I had joined at a specific and convienient location. They closed about 4 months after joining (never even hinting to me that they would be shutting down). I let me membership keep going a month or two and then I decide to cancel. Simple right? Nope. I call them.... If course they make me come in.

I drive to lincoln park location and explain that I want to quit. They hand me a form that I sign. Ive quit gyms before and this seemed right. They say Im good.

My debit card got lost and I needed a replacment. Some months later I get a letter in the mail telling me that I need to pay my membership for the past months (I forgot the total). I was a little annoyed since I had "already quit". So I drive up to the lincoln park location again after work still wearing my BASF shirt.

I walk upto the muscular guy behind the counter and proceed to explain whats going on. The guy begins to lean forward and tells me just to "pay the bill and stop being petty". He also said "You work at BASF and probably make good money and can afford it". I told him that "its not all about the money but also the principle that I had quit and have not come to the gym"..... And he rolled his damn eyes at me.

To avoid my credit score getting knocked I ended up just paying, simply so I did not have to deal with these morons ever again.

The message I will preach to everyone is. Never, ever, join a Powerhouse Gym. If I tell you to join powerhouse that means that I hate you.

Was a REAL gym for years. Then the last owner closed it very shady like. To have a " charity event" and sell $100 year memberships to people at it and then close the doors two days later is a D*** move. At least the charity got it's HALF of the money for the event eventually...

Equipment was great ,good loud music to pump to and get my tan on too, could use locker room upgrade but I shower at home anyways

Big Crooks, i signed up for a year at the Dearborn location on march 3rd and come april 1st it was closed down without warning. I called for a refund and they denied me my money even after offering to pay for the one month i used. I dont recommend this gym at all. Very bad customer service

I was a member here for years... then when la fitness opened
.. I left gladly.....
My honest opinion is a gym is a gym... but
It's dirty and dank in this place....
Members are cool for the most part....
But being black I feel prejudices from staff and even the owner Mike....
i would not ever recommend this gym to anyone and I still have an active memership...

Paid $100 for a year membership, no other fees attached. They have machines, weights, bikes, treadmills, free weights, Olympic bars, etc. everything I need to train, pump some iron and feel great about myself.
Yeah it's dirty, really dirty. But so what? You can't beat the price and the atmosphere is very chill. This is a real weight room. If you can't handle it, give your money to planet fitness and their ridiculous pizza nights.

I agree with previous comments about Powerhouse going down hill. If Planet Fitness is on one extreme of the scale - people getting yelled at for making noise and "pizza day"... powerhouse is on the other.

Absolutely filthy. Locker room looks not unlike the abandoned buildings from the Fallout series. You might get MRSA just from parking in the parking lot near the gym. Seriously disgusting. Many Machines are broken, shower is always broken, sauna is always " closed for maintenance " (apparently from a galaxy far, far away...)

This is one of the worst gyms I have ever been in dirty machines rude employees broken machines.I joined this gym several years ago and it gets worse every year. When I joined I paid one hundred dollars and a monthly fee of nine dollars .I now pay twelve dollars a month,and new customers only pay ten a month and I believe they only pay fifty dollars membership fees.So much for customer appreciation.Time to follow the trend and join planet fitness for ten dollars a month . The machines are clean and state of the art,with audio hook ups for music and TVs.They clean the machines periodically.People actually wipe the machines down too.Something that is not enforced at Powerhouse gym.TOTAL DUMP DON'T WAST YOUR MONEY !!!
