Just wanted to say how grateful I am that I was encouraged by a friend to try a few classes at syphus. I was intimidated by the type of workouts and was afraid to join for years driving by it but I have found it to be such an incredible place - way more than just a gym, the coaches are all very supportive and encouraging as well as all the members! I have never felt unwelcome and it is an amazing workout! One hour classes - guaranteed sweat & heartrate up the whole time, different workouts every day, with varying degrees of difficulty. I have seen people of all different ages and body types there - all inclusive and I just can’t say enough good things about it!! If you’re on the fence about it stop in and sign up for a free class directly with one of the coaches! They can guide you through the website the best.

It’s disappointing to see some of the negative reviews, especially since my experience with the 16-Week Weight Loss Challenge has been life-changing. I completed the Challenge in October, and it was hands down one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. Not only did I lose inches, but I gained so much more—confidence, strength, and a healthier lifestyle.
I’d like to clear up a few misconceptions:
1. The Challenge: It’s a partnership that Syphus has with a third-party company, and participants sign a contract committing to work out at least three days a week for 16 weeks. Life happens—vacations, injuries, etc.—but in my experience, as long as you communicate with Syphus, they can often adjust your timeline to accommodate those situations.
2. Cancellation: While canceling the membership with the third-party company wasn’t a breeze, it wasn’t overly difficult either. I sent a certified letter with a printout of my workout visits, and they canceled my membership without any issues.
3. My Experience: I loved my results and the people so much that I ended up signing up for a membership directly with Syphus (no third party). Now I’m working out 5–6 days a week, and I love it—something I never thought I’d be saying!
When I started, I couldn’t do a push-up, sit-up, or mountain climbers—and I’m 52 years old. I still have a long way to go (recovering couch potato here!), but this journey has been incredibly rewarding.
If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend joining the Challenge if it’s offered again. It’s a fantastic way to kick-start your fitness journey and prove to yourself that you can do hard things.
And if committing to the Challenge isn’t for you, Syphus also offers direct memberships and other options to get started. Don’t let the third-party aspect deter you—this is a workout experience worth exploring!

Warning...be sure to read contract and to be committed to one year payment plan before signing!!! I joined the 16 Week Challenge Program, and I completed all the required classes (3 classes a week) and more! My results were, I lost 10 pounds and multiple inches all over my body. At first it was awkward for me because the classes were very large, and the workouts were posted on a whiteboard. The trainer would explain the workout, set the timer, then you go at your own pace. But then I started to sign up for classes that were less crowded and learned the exercises. Classes became fun and was always challenging. I may have not lost as much weight as I anticipated, but I definitely became motivated and felt healthier and stronger. Now the CON to the program....in the agreement, you must attend at least 3 classes for 16 weeks. Then if you want to cancel you have to write a letter with proof of attendance and send it certified mail to NAC which is their billing company. I received cancellation denial because I did not send the cancellation letter within 5 days of the program ending. It was never communicated that there was a time limit to cancel. Therefore, I am now obligated to continue paying for the program for the entire year. The charming girl at NAC told me my options were pay up or not pay and go to collections. I also could cancel for medical purposes by getting a doctor to fill out forms, relocate, or buy out the contract. Luckily, I enjoy the workouts at Syphus Training and really like the owners and staff. I also want to continue my weight loss journey. I just disliked the scam scheme involved. Warning...be sure to be committed or you will have to pay up!

BIGGEST SCAM EVER! If you get this membership make sure you have a lawyer present. You can not cancel your membership! I REPEAT YOU CAN NOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. Unless you are a professional athlete or training for a marathon… just go get a regular gym membership. If can’t cancel the 16 week program and then you will be told if you want to cancel you have to write a letter stating you went 3 times a week for 16 weeks. That still might not be enough. Save yourself some time, money, and frustration. I gave it one star because 0 isnt a option.

Attention my plus size friends: if you are intimidated of joining syphus training, DONT! When I tell you I was very very intimated of joining their 16 week weight lost challenge, I was scared I would be judged/ not healthy enough to work out. But that all turned out to be wrong, when I tell you these trainers are so encouraging and kind and educational!! I couldn’t thank Steve & Katlyn & Sarah + many other trainers for always encouraging me and making me feel welcomed. I started out Syphus training feeling very vulnerable and out of shape, now that we are 3 months into the program, I love being able to come into class confident and knowing what I am doing. When you come into class, there are people from all ages/sizes so you feel content/comfortable. The 16 week program does have a strict attendance of 3 days of class once a week but it is not bad at all! You are only in class for approx 45-50 minutes which is not bad at all. So far I have lost approx 20lbs since starting syphus training. If I can do it as a plus size woman so can you!

Beware of the 16 week challenge people they go through. It's a major headache and joke if you can't meet all requirements that they do not tell you out loud . Check the bbb on the company for the NCA place they use. Even after 16 weeks it's hard to get out and no one is interested in helping you. Never again would I sign up for something like this.

Beware of their 16 week challenge marketing scheme. You are locked in paying a large monthly payment for an entire year if you cannot meet the 3 days a week during your 16 weeks. So do not get sick, injured, or take vacation during this time.

Syphus has been my workout of choice for the past 8 years and even after all this time I still look forward to it. I workout about 4-5 times a week. The classes are only an hour and are always changing so you don’t have to repeat the same thing over and over. I love that the workouts are already made up for me and I don’t have to think about it or makeup my own routine. The tasks and circuit patterns help keep your mind focused. It’s really such a smart way of exercising.
The community is my other favorite part. I’ve met so many wonderful people these past 8 years and we have so much fun together. We celebrate milestones, birthdays. We’ve mourned losses together. We compete against one another while still rooting for each other at the same time. I don’t take this community for granted.
If you are looking for a new place to workout, or are interested in giving it a try- your first class is free!

I recently started training at the Brownstown turf on Gibraltar rd. after a 6 year hiatus. This is by far the most effective training I have ever done. I love the design of the workouts, how they are set up as groups of tasks and no matter my level of fitness I feel totally comfortable doing the tasks at an appropriate pace for my body and my needs. All the coaches are very tuned on to everyone's needs. The other members are so supportive and offer verbal encouragement for even the smallest of victories. I am so glad I came back to this turf! I was apprehensive at first because I thought I might be to old for it (about to be 60) but I quickly realized that there a quite a number of people working out that are my age and beyond and they are killing it! This is such an adaptable form of exercise. Try it! You will probably get hooked lime me!

No other workout like it, no other community like it. I recommend Syphus over and over to people who are looking for a new workout routine or gym. Classes are an hour long with a new workout written on the board every day. The goal is to complete as much of the workout as you can in an hour. The beauty of it is you determine your own intensity for each workout. You can go at your own pace or, if you want to add a competitive edge, you can try to keep up with others. There is every type of fitness level from beginners to advanced. If you’re thinking about trying about a class, do it! First class is always free 😀
