I've worked with many personal trainers throughout my life. None of them have come even close to matching Jason in terms of knowledge, experience, and compassion. He has such a deep understanding of human anatomy, body mechanics, and injury prevention, and I learn something new in every session I have with him.
I also have this secret theory that Jason has a recorder implanted in his brain. He remembers EVERYTHING—like how much weight I did on the leg press last Monday or what kind of handle I prefer for seated rows—and this is how he's able to make every workout so personalized for his clients. It's seriously amazing.
Just spend 15 minutes at Bodies by Burgoon, and you'll see how much everyone loves training here. Everything—from the clean facilities to the welcoming community to the knowledgeable trainers—is simply the best. I've never felt safer or more seen at a gym, and words can't describe how grateful I am to have found this place.

I first went to Jason and the team not confident in overall fitness with goals to lose weight and gain muscle. That was over 14 years ago and after my first 6 months I was down 20lbs, getting toned, ran my first 5k and climbed a mountain. The support, foundations, and community at Bodies by Burgoon is amazing and builds confidence and healthy habits unlike anywhere else. Sadly I moved away from Minneapolis and have yet to find the formula elsewhere! But despite now living in a different country, I try and visit every time I’m back and can’t thank Jason and the team enough for all they did!
I highly recommend for anyone at any fitness level looking to reach your goals and build long lasting foundations for your health!

Bodies and Burgoon is a fantastic gym! Jason is such a knowledgeable, caring, and fun trainer. I learned so much about how train and care for my body from him. My husband and started training with Jason Burgoon about a month ago. Neither of us have previous experience receiving personalized training of any kind, but Jason's services were highly recommended by a friend, so we pushed past our anxiety and gave it a try.
We first met Jason during a 1:1 consultation, which was simply a casual conversation where we got to know him and he got to know us. After the consultation we scheduled our first (free) session with Jason, where he guided us through gentle warm-up exercises which also gave him information to assess our physical abilities. He pushed us a little further in our second session by adding on some strength training, and by our 3rd session we had committed to the $325 starter package ($500 value) to officially be trained by Jason twice a week.
Jason and the environment he fosters at Bodies by Burgoon is one of positivity and support. There are intentionally no mirrors in the space, in order to ensure that everyone focuses on how the exercises feel in their body, and not how they look. Every session we've had with Jason so far has been with other people in the space, but even when Jason is juggling many clients at once, he has a way of making you feel like he's completely focused on you. He gets you set up to do each workout, checks your form, and then lets you complete the reps on your own, so I never feel like he's hovering or that I need to come up with something to talk about. (Besides, he carries the conversation if there's ever a lull.)
What appeals to me the most about Jason's style is that he infuses mental health, positive reinforcement, and humor into everything he teaches. He is one of the most gentle, genuine, non-intimidating people I've ever met. I didn't expect that my strength training experience would be this rewarding - already!
Now that we're settling into a schedule, we are starting to get to know other clients. They represent a wide variety of ages, body shapes, and physical abilities. Many clients tell us they have been seeing Jason for 6 or 7 years! I can see why.
Don't be intimidated. You have nothing to lose by scheduling a 1:1 consultation to see if Bodies by Burgoon is the right place for you. Even if it isn't for you, you'll walk away with a smile on your face for having met Jason Burgoon.

I've been strength training for over 10 years and after experiencing several injuries over the years, I was interested in finding a coach to ensure I had proper technique in my training. Jason immediately saw what needed to be improved in my form and is extremely knowledgeable; he provided several injury prevention exercises and introduced me to different training techniques that have already elevated my fitness. I am new to strength training and didn’t know where to begin. After my time at Bodies by Burgoon, I’m confident I made the right decision in choosing them to help me with my fitness goals. Jason provided me proper form and technique guidance but has also emphasized the importance of proper nutrition and recovery. Jason is a great trainer and has been so welcoming to me as I am getting back into a physical routine after several years of pain and injury that caused me to reduce my activity. He embraces both the motivational and the compassionate ends of the fitness and wellness spectrum, by helping me build my strength and confidence while also making room for modifications when my body needs it. This balanced approach to strength training is exactly what I was looking for.
The gym is always clean, never overcrowded, and hosts a diverse range of people of all ages, physiques, and fitness goals making it a low-pressure but high-motivation environment. I usually feel super self-conscious in most gym settings, but I feel very comfortable here.

I’ve been training here for six years. With time I’ve seen staff, programs and equipment come and go. There are a few constants that keep me coming back, the caliber of staff and the community. Ive always ever done the small group training which I can’t recommend enough, to anyone of any skill level. It’s not a formula I see that often for weightlifting at other gyms. For me the sessions are a magical combination of just enough personalized attention that you need for weightlifting but the fun of a group class. The vibes? Immaculate. It can be as social or not social as you’d like, as intense or not as intense as you’d like. I’ve always appreciated how the staff takes our goals and intentions seriously, no matter what they are (I want to compete vs. I just want to get out of the house. Both valid!). The staff are top tier and genuinely good people. If you don’t care for fitness science, they don’t mind. But if you do, they’ll be very excited to answer your questions and send you home with things to do. These people are absolute nerds about fitness. The staff’s engagement with the latest science means the programs and approaches are always evolving. As a client I really appreciate that. It keeps things interesting, yes, but also their willingness to accept new findings and adjust is big a marker of success in my book. I feel like it could be so easy to get complacent in how you train, but that’s never been the case here. By nature of showing up anywhere consistently for six years I’ve gotten to know so many people in the small group trainings, as familiar to me as my coworkers. So many friendships and networks established, it’s helped me feel connected to my community. When I notice new clients training when I’m in, I’m really stoked for them that they will get to experience this, too!

I've had personal trainers before and I have to say that this is by far the best experience! I was referred by a friend of mine and this is the first time I've actually had a trainer constantly correct my form, push me harder, and knows exactly what they are talking about. Been going three times a week for two and a half years and they have become my weekday workout family. All workout sessions are supervised / organized by a professional trainer (small groups of similar fitness levels / goals or one on one with a personal trainer). No mirrors, no attitude, no crazy cardio, no BS... Just all positive energy, great staff, and great equipment. Feeling healthier, stronger and in a better mental state thanks to BBB. It's a little hard to find (behind the Thorp Building, next to Tattersall Distillery) but well worth searching for!

To say the level of service that BBB provides is more than just a place to work out is an understatement.
Client for 3 years now, reasons I stay:
1. You're family- not just a paycheck walking through the door. They care about you as a person, not just your physical health. They take the time to make the connection. And the other clients start to become apart of your family, too- the small nature of of the gym really allows for no more than about 12 people at a time. You get to know the faces you see week after week.
2. Unrelenting support - the BBB team is there to hold your hand as you set fitness or nutrition goals and pursue them. They make your goals, their goals.
Or- ya know, they are also there if you need to punch something, get a good cry in, share some happy news... the ups and the downs!
3. The level of service- it's a small, well educated team, not just a bunch of meatheads in polos that have the job only because they like to work out. Their knowledge of how the human body works, and how to apply it your workouts and nutrition is, genuinely, one of my favorite things about the experience they provide.

Wow where can I even start? I joined this gym not knowing anything about fitness or nutrition. I was so scared and nervous my first day I almost left. But Dawns smile and kind words at the front desk kept me coming back. From there my love of fitness grew and now I do spinning (my very first spin class was at this gym with the most kind and incredible instructor, Lisa) as well as HIIT classes with the one and only Sergio. This gym, these people, they have provided me with a sense of community as well as fitness and strength I never knew I had. Bodies x Burgoon is the best decision I've made in a long time. Have been an active member for two months and if I was made of money, I'd live there. This is the furthest from corporate you'll get while still having the benefit of a dedicated brick and mortar with top of the line equipment. These are real people who will treat you with love, respect, and kindness.
They will hear your goals and help you meet them. They'll also hear your dislikes and modify instead of convincing you that this one particular movement or machine is imperative to your fitness. It's a mental game and they understand that. The trainers deserve awards, both of them. This is true for all the staff, who simply never falter on positive and warm vibes. They are incredible, service-oriented folks who take their time, explain themselves, and help so many build the strongest bodies of their life times. Yes, you quickly learn it's all about strength, whether your goal is to lose weight or body build. I love that re-centered focus.

After just one class, everyone knew my name, including the instructor, the desk staff, etc. The classes are always just challenging enough to give me a great workout, but not overly strenuous. The thing I liked the most about my visit was the small community feel. The amenities and equipment were great. I felt that the trainer truly challenged me on the cycle routine. I will continue to cycle and am now interested in looking into other classes as well.

As a client, you're always pushed no matter who is in your group or who is leading the session or class. You never walk away thinking it wasn't worth it. All of the equipment in the gym is top quality, and everything you need is available. You can buy hand wraps and boxing gloves as well as rent shoes for cycle and mats for yoga. Boxing makes the sessions much more fun. Plus if you really pushed it and want to reward yourself, you can stop into Tattersall Distillery right next door for a cocktail or grab some food from the many food trucks available on the weekends.

At Bodies by Burgoon, I like that every staff member I've met so far seem sincere and friendly. The atmosphere there is very welcoming. It's not like some commercial main stream gyms where they are just trying to pitch a service/contract to you. I have been active in sports and lifting for years however once I had a kid and my free time shifted I noticed my energy level and my overall feelings of health changed.
