I have been dragging my feet in writing this review because I truly do not have the words to express how Breakthrough Fitness has changed my life. Not only have Morgan and Matt helped me become the strongest I have ever been, but they have helped me through some challenging injuries, going above and beyond to create a plan that targets just what my body needs to strengthen and heal. This specialized training has honestly been more impactful and healing than any physical therapy or cortisone injection I have had. Additionally, Morgan and Matt are readily available to answer any and all questions, educating me on various aspects of health, fitness, and nutrition in the most non-judgmental manner. Perhaps most importantly, they have created a space that fosters community, camaraderie, friendship, family, and fun. I cannot recommend Breakthrough Fitness enough.

I always struggled to stick with any exercise routine until I joined Breakthrough Fitness. Now I strength train weekly, and I even look forward to it each week! Morgan and Matt are awesome and so knowledgeable. They create a positive gym environment and value the individuality of their clients. No icky gym or diet culture. Even with just an hour of training per week, I quickly noticed my strength improve and I gained confidence in my ability to strength train. I couldn't recommend them enough!

I really appreciate Breakthrough Fitness! Friends encouraged me to join, but I dragged my feet. Now I wish I’d joined sooner. I feel better and stronger with even just one workout a week. Morgan and Matt are great to work with! I’ve been strength training with them for ten months now and I’m definitely stronger. For Christmas my mom gave me a gift membership to Breakthrough Fitness and what a wonderful, thoughtful gift that has turned out to be!!!! Morgan and Matt are both great! I was referred to Breakthrough Fitness for a knee pain issue, but have received so much more relief and results than just my knee. Over the last several months I have grown stronger in my core, legs, arms, back. I feel like I’ve been able to return to some activities like gardening and biking with more strength. Although I was already active and exercising daily, I could never push myself as hard as they push me! In a good way! They keep me accountable and provide an app that allows me to do workouts on my own. They have a clean, well-maintained, and convenient location in NE. I have been to a lot of personal trainers and had mediocre to terrible experiences. I have been doing virtual training with Morgan and Matt for 3.5 years now, and the results have been fantastic. I started while still recovering from a broken wrist. Physical therapy alone didn't bring full recovery of range of motion or weight bearing, but strength training with Morgan took care of it 100%. SERIOUSLY. This is the BEST thing I've ever done for myself. I'm a born skeptic with chronic low back pain and other ailments. I've been through many PT programs and medical procedures and have found most ineffective in relieving any of my pain. I tried Breakthrough Fitness after stopping in and noticing they had equipment some I had used in a previous PT strength training regimen I was in just prior to the pandemic's beginning, which of course I had to discontinue.

I have NEVER been STRONGER or MORE CONFIDENT about doing physical activities in my entire life including when I was training for endurance bicycle riding (think biking to Duluth and back from the Twin Cities). My trainer changes up the workouts so I never know what's coming – which I love – I just do what they ask me to do and the results keep multiplying. I workout 1x per week for 45 minutes with this high-intensity strength training regimen and do other lighter exercise and some cardio on my own. Oh, and did I mention how much better my mental health is as well? I've had down days when entering the gym with tons of stress and leave happy and healthy! My low back pain is so much better than it was when I started and I'm getting stronger each time I work out. Life is so much different than it was just 11 months ago. I'M STRONG, CONFIDENT and RESILIENT! I encourage you to check Breakthrough Fitness MN out — I believe in supporting this gym and this way of training because I can't deny the results.

I’ve been working with Morgan (and Matt) for a long while now. What initially started as an effort to address issues following marathon training (at the rec. of my physical therapist who told me my body effectively wasn’t strong enough to hold up my body while I run stupid long distances)has turned into a long term commitment to (and love of) strength training and all its benefits. Morgan, from the beginning, listened to my goals and concerns, and built a plan around where I was at when I started and she incorporated strengths and weaknesses (ha, get it?!). I have had very noticeable gains in terms of my actual strength since starting, BUT ALSO very visible results in my arms, legs, core, etc.

While that was not underlying motivation behind my strength training journey, I don’t think I can ever give it up out of fear of atrophying and going back to the blobby blob I once was. I mean… I can do a chin up now, several actually, which… is like a giant leap for a gal who had zero upper body strength for most of her life. All of this is on top of the long term benefits I’ll see as I turn into a wrinkly old broad - no osteoporosis or hip replacements for me!

So yeah, I ship Morgan and Matt and their work, particularly for folks who shy away from lifting or the weights section of the gym because it’s intimidating/loud/crowded or the machines are too confusing or intense. Breakthrough is great. The environment is much smaller, they are approachable and dedicated to helping you reach your goals, while making you work hard. Just do yourself a favor and try it out.

Okay let's be real, exercise is hard. But not here!! Morgan and Matt are gonna keep all your records for you and adjust your seat and weights for you and tell you how many reps you need to do and laugh when you complain about it! And the support puppy is just the icing on the cake! Nothing like a sweet dog coming over looking into your eyes to encourage you to CRUSH those weights. Then you leave satisfied! That simple. I had gym memberships for years, and didn't go. Here you know you're letting someone down if you don't go. That's a motivator for me. I do breakfit together. Everyone at Breakthrough Fitness is so down to earth and friendly! I am someone who has never liked the “gym strength training atmosphere” but this gym and the trainers that work there make strength training feel like a warm and lighthearted hug! Before working with Breakthrough Performance I had never really enjoyed working out. I have been working with Morgan for 3 years, through two babies, and have completely changed my narrative! I look forward to our sessions every week as self care time and my body just CRAVES these workouts!!! They are gentle yet effective in building strength, balance, for rehab (I am 6 months postpartum), and giving me bountiful energy throughout my week.

I am getting results in less than 1 hour per week what used to take me hours at the gym (that I hated by the way). I just love how incredibly efficient these workouts are, making it possible for me to strength train in my busy schedule.

I have been training with Morgan and her crew for over five years! My experience has been top notch.

Resistance training has added a great deal to my overall fitness and helped to both protect me and help me recover from injuries. Twice weekly high intensity resistance training has given me visible results and expanded my ability to achieve other fitness such as in martial arts and running.

The gym is highly professional and well trained. All of the business issues related to membership, etc. always go smoothly.

I’ve been working out with Morgan for over 3 years. She’s helped me through a shoulder “thing” and restoring my core muscles after having twins more than a decade ago. Wonderful trainers who are very knowledgeable and supportive. They are very good at working with you to make sure you are training safely and avoiding injury.
I was very intimidated by the idea of working with a personal trainer due to a poor experience with a trainer at a big gym. But Morgan, Matt and Chloe are so kind and non judgmental. You will definitely get a good workout but they never push you past your limits.
In the 15 months I’ve been training my back pain has decreased, my strength is increased, and best of all my confidence has grown exponentially!
