Great value and I love that the saunas are not co ed since they tend to get crowded when co Ed at other gyms. Good zumba classes. However bathroom cleanliness is almost always lacking it seems like week after week the same spots are always dusty. It's very nice that they offer kids care however it seems really unorganized and it's not really clear if staff has any safety training or experiences with children.

The music in the club is very loud!!! I can hear it though my noise cancelling headphones. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE VERY LOUD MUSIC!
Again as usual the music is blasting!! 11/10

Again have some respect for those who use the gym!!!!

THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE GUESTS.

Disgusting service, terrible and rude staff, the more democratic, the staff, the worse their gyms, there are a lot of people who just occupy space and harm their health. If you're traveling, I don't advise you to come here, your mood and training will be ruined

This gym is amazing!!! I was severed injured while working out (my own fault). The staff was amazing, called the ambulance, and made sure I was comfortable while I waited for help. I lost the ability to walk temporarily due to nerve damage. I was so stressed with recovery that I didn’t even think to switch my new card I have gotten for reoccurring payments. So I was racking up late fees and had no idea. I was focused on relearning to walk and in physical therapy. When I finally healed months later and was ready to return I saw I had a super high bill. But after speaking with Shay the Manager and they were AMAZING. The Crunch Manager spoke to me with so much care. They waived the past due bill for me and simply wanted to make sure I was comfortable coming back in. I am floored at how amazing this service has been all around. I have only ever had smiles from the staff anything I went in. But the kindness from this manager was truly touching.

The bathrooms are disgusting — they always smell terrible and are rarely clean. The amenities are poorly maintained, with empty soap dispensers and dirty floors. For the price they charge, I expected way better upkeep.

Very poor upper management specially Shay the GM. He doesn’t handle critics very well. Especially when it comes to lack of respect towards members and their concerns about the stair master and other equipment. The stairmasters are now working, but it won’t be for too long before they out order for weeks again also a tv hasn’t been working for weeks. Since they upcharged membership this year you would think they would get new stairmasters, please don’t waste your time on this location maple grove is definitely the better of the two. He also very passive aggressive even reading other reviews from other members the response from him are unprofessional and reflect what type of gym he runs.

I'd give 0 stars if possible.

I’ve never felt so disrespected by a gym manager as I have dealing with Crunch Fitness Blaine. I’ve spent over a week just trying to get a simple membership transfer completed after accidentally being signed up for the wrong location online.

Instead of helping resolve the issue, the General Manager, Shay Doyle, repeatedly responded to my emails with a condescending and antagonistic tone. At one point, he even wrote, “why would I do the extra work to loss [lose] a member?” — an incredibly unprofessional thing to say to someone just trying to get their account corrected.

I’ve been nothing but patient and clear, yet every response from him came across as dismissive and defensive. Fortunately, the Des Moines South location has been kind, understanding, and is now helping fix the issue — proof that the problem isn’t with Crunch as a whole, but specifically with the management at the Blaine location.

I’ll be forwarding all correspondence to Crunch Corporate, because no paying member should ever be spoken to or treated this way when asking for help.

I have been a member at this Crunch Fitness for over four years and currently pay for the highest-tier membership. The facility itself is solid, with good equipment and a decent layout, but the inconsistency and lack of professionalism from certain staff have made me seriously reconsider staying.

I am a professionally trained Muay Thai and MMA fighter who uses Crunch mainly for heavy-bag workouts. For years, instructors told me it was fine to train in the corner during classes as long as I stayed out of the way and kept the noise down. I always respected that.

The problems began with one specific instructor. The first time she approached me, her boxing class had not even started yet. I was in the middle of an intense heavy-bag session, out of breath and focused, when she interrupted me mid-set and demanded that I leave the area entirely. I understood that since it was a boxing class, my presence might overlap with her space, so after some discussion, she allowed me to move to the opposite side of the gym if I lowered the power of my punches. I complied immediately. In that same interaction, she offered me a teaching position for her class, which I politely declined. While her tone was unnecessarily sharp, I still tried to be understanding.

On a later visit, that same instructor again interrupted me mid-set, this time just as her HIIT class was starting. The HIIT area was nowhere near me, and there was no realistic way for my training to interfere. She ordered me to leave entirely, citing “company policy” and vague “past incidents.” She even admitted to me that she knew I personally would not cause any problems but said I still had to leave. Meanwhile, I have seen other members remain in the area under similar circumstances with no issue. As I was leaving, she made a speech to her class acknowledging that I wasn’t the problem but using her pay rate—saying she “only makes $20 an hour”—to justify her behavior. Considering this is a job she willingly applied for, it felt like a misleading excuse and an unnecessary attempt to defend herself publicly. The class laughed, which made the entire moment feel even more disrespectful and unprofessional.

To make matters worse, the HIIT Zone where the heavy bags are located hosts classes intermittently all day, from roughly 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Unless you closely monitor the class schedule or work out outside those hours, you are likely to experience the same interruptions and restrictions I did. My friend, a former LFA pro, and I have also been told we cannot light-spar quietly and in control in closed-off areas, yet untrained members routinely throw full-power haymakers or even play football in open spaces without issue. That is clear selective enforcement.

Management’s only response was “company policy,” and cancellations must be done in person on paper, which feels outdated and unprofessional. After repeated disrespect for no valid reason, I will likely cancel my membership and build my own heavy-bag setup at home rather than continue supporting a gym that treats loyal, respectful, high-paying members this way.

The facility is great, but selective enforcement, double standards, and public disrespect toward long-time members should never be acceptable at any gym.

I joined Crunch in Blaine in 2021 for the yoga classes. At other places, yoga is $12-25 per class. At Crunch you get unlimited yoga with a $25 monthly membership. Weight classes, aqua classes, cardio classes, sauna, hot tub, pool, and full use of the gym and workout machines are also included.

Massage machines, spinning classes, and some other special classes are only included in the highest membership, which is still reasonable at about $30/month.

Crunch is fantastic. It has positive energy. It's like Lifetime, but half the size and much, much cheaper. The staff is friendly. The facility is clean. Shay, Rachel, Jason, Andrew, and other staff create a warm, inviting, and friendly atmosphere.

The free weights can get busy on Monday and Tuesday evenings, but I consider that the price you pay for having a great place a lot of people want to be.

After 4 years, I hired a personal trainer for 3 months. It was one of the best investments I have made in my long term health.

Guest Wi-Fi is extremely slow. Ask for access to the member WiFi.

Best gym:) Everyone is so sweet, fun, approachable, and helpful; energetic atmosphere and yes it's busy, but would you want a dead gym that no one cared for?;) Tons of options (Equipment, classes, free weights, drinks/merch)-yes certain machines get broken, but they break because they're overused or used in the wrong way, things happen. When that happens, maybe it's a good opportunity to try a new cardio/weight machine;) Mike at the front desk is always so helpful, greets everyone and makes you feel welcome! I appreciate his kindness at the gym. Either way, it's you against you, get in, get a good workout, make some friends/workout buddies and make the best of your time at Crunch in Blaine; price, location, energy-life is all whatcha make it! <3

I’d like to make an observation and a suggestion, recently Crunch bought a new “Belt squat machine” it is rarely ever used as it is a new gimmick buy for most gyms and once you try it most people do not like how uncomfortable it feels, this one sits unused most days, It is stuck over in the south west corner of the gym next to the modified hack squat machine and right beside that is the pec-deck machine, why would you put a chest and rear delt machine over by itself in this corner? I was working out with 2 other people on the hack squat machine and 3 people were using the pec deck machine, it was so crowded and awkward we were literally bumping into each other. There is at least 10 feet of empty floor space on the north side of the Belt Squat machine and it could be moved into the un-used space and move the hack squat machine up. I spoke with a member that brought this very concern to the management about how awkward this space is and an easy solution to the confined space issue. As a paying customer, the manager ignored this, he does not seem approachable at all, no surprise, do better, listen to the people that pay your salary.

The gym itself is absolutely fantastic. Equipment and options are fantastic, staff is polite, and things get fixed pretty quickly.
BUT
the cleanliness is a concern. Been a member for a couple years and it’s declined since joining. Dust bunnies and clumps of hair in the corners and under machines.
ESPECIALLY the men’s locker room. The grout is black (you can tell it’s mopped once in a blue moon just pushing the nasty water everywhere), the urinals are stained (hard water as well as pee), the cracks and edges of the wall around them are even worse. Pretty sure I counted 6 straight days of two zynz wedged in the exact same spot of one of the pee pads on a urinal.
The sinks are full of brown gunk and the drains often smell like a dead fish.
*I saw that they’re short an overnight cleaner, but there’s sometimes three people standing at the front desk*
The sauna……..it’s been there close to two years I believe and every time I sit in there I think about the fact that it’s never been cleaned. Every gym I’ve ever been to with one, would shut it down once a week for an extremely deep clean with bleach and scrubbing. Every crack of the benches are full of hair and gunk. The benches are stained, the floor has clumps of dirt and hair all around and I’m pretty positive there’s mold on the wall next to the heater. I don’t even wanna think about what could be underneath the bench. There’s no ventilation, so the stale air of the ten dudes that try to pile in at once is just transferred from person to person. Somehow there are people walking around in that locker room barefoot and it makes me queasy just thinking about what’s transferring to their skin.

I posted last fall a similar review that got removed, but it’s gotten so dirty that I’m posting another in hopes of something being done.

I don’t leave many reviews but after today please rest time? Umm I asked a man to use my favorite machine due to him standing in front of it 10 minutes on his phone he said yes using it yeah right I watched him he never used it in the 25 minutes I was on another machine they need that much rest time? I walked around the gym to only see teenagers on their phones not using the weights or equipment . I canceled in writing in May after I fell to only get charged every month and July 11th cancelled in person to b told I’ll get charged in August too what a joke also I joined thinking there was a pool nope no pool they removed it in April I called before joining asking if they have a pool they didn’t know it was getting removed? The person who canceled my member
Ship today was very kind and hopefully did it right this time we’ll see if I get charged in September ?
I cancelled in writing and now in person
I should at least not get charged for August but they will with there lame reasons .
If you like to watch kids on their phones and 35 to 30 year old men gather at machines to hold them up this is the place for you . Hope my money from May until August helps you all in some way no compassion at all I sent a Doctors letter and cancelled I can only hope August giving them more free money will work this time

The amount of predatory practices at the gym is UNACCEPTABLE. They needed my banking information to sign me up. There is $76 fee to downgrade a membership as well as a yearly gym maintenance fee, and to top it all off the general manager tried not to meet with me because he was too busy working out. Do not join.

Edit-so crunch i gave you guys a few months and I will say I am still salty about the pool thing but a lot of things has happend to turn my opinion around. Maybe the original staff member I was deeling with was a extreme introvert idk but I have ran into some extremely helpful and fun employees since then. There was this kid I think his name is Donavan he is super friendly and helpful gave me the lowdown on all the classes. There is this other girl Tara very nice talked about meal prepping for like 30 min. Then there is this other girl dont know her name but blackish and blond hair always at the desk very friendly always waving making conversation so I changed my rating but still salty about the pool
.................
Origonal-Getting rid of the pool? Only reason I joined this gym.
The staff that's working the desk seems uneducated as to what's going on in the gym. I've asked a few questions on classes and they didn't have any of the answers and the description of the classes online are very vague. Like I would like basic info as to if the class is beginner or not what if anything to bring to expect 🤔
Also not a super huge deal but I was suppose to get a free shirt when I signed up but when I can in to get key card and take picture nothing was offered... I get it you don't join a gym for free swag but when you promise it and you wanna make your place feel like home ypu should give not make me ask..

I love crunch fitness I’ve been a member for years. They are always adding new things and expanding/improving their gym. Yet there is one MAJOR flaw. Their WiFi is terrible. I can’t even connect to it and when I do my service is horrible. This wouldn’t be a problem since I have cellular data, but the building acts as a sort of dead zone for T-Mobile where I can’t even get 5G service and struggle to even send a text. If they simply improved the WiFi this would be a 5 star review but unfortunately I don’t see this issue changing anytime soon.

The good - gym appears to be weight lifting oriented focused. Young crowd mostly which makes for fun environment. The $13 subscription is an affordable price, even though it requires a year contract commitment. Some of the staff are friendly.

The bad- the gym is filthy. Mens bathroom is poorly maintained for cleanliness. Trashes overflowing, toilets soiled or out of commission, lockers, floors, sauna are dirty.

The staff - the gym is staffed and run by teenagers or 20 year olds mostly. Theres nothing inherently wrong with that, but they don't know much about their job and each will give you different/ misinformation when asking questions, or just not answer the question or try to get help for answers. Clear lack of training by management. Good luck speaking with management too, I've asked many times and they either don't offer or they have limited hours to talk to them.
Staff doesn't clean enough, there should be staff roaming the gym cleaning at all times instead of sitting on their phones at front desk. At least keep the locker room somewhat hygienic.

Your stuff will go missing - I left some stuff there and got some back but my biggest item was 'not found'. They didn't bother to look into it, would have been easy to check cameras the day before and see if someone walked off with it.

Too many cardio machines. Half the building is treadmills not being used. The desirable weightlifting machines are always taken because there's only maybe one or two of them and there's lines waiting or people just sitting on their phones on the bench.

In summary, if a cheap price for a gym is your only concern then this is the gym for you but if you want basic hygiene a knowledgeable staff and plenty of equipment to be used go elsewhere. You get what you pay for

Update: I didn’t originally add a comment but I will now since you have assumed the reason for the low rating. This rating is soley based on my interaction with you Shay, the GM of Blaine location, not based on the contract. (As mentioned in many other reviews, the customer service is not great.) and I experienced that today.

The beginning of the phone call you were rude immediately, right off the bat ready to say you won’t refund, without any explanation first. Then proceeded to say “yes I could refund, but I’m not going to do that.”

I haven’t stepped foot in the gym for months other than to go in and cancel the membership, so yes I did ask for a refund for this one and only fee I got charged for the next month.

I get contracts are signed, thank you for telling me that a few times. I was hoping in good faith you’d reconsider and offer a refund. It’s clear you like money and power.

Enjoy a Snickers with that extra charge.

It's a good gym. Has most of what you need. Main issues are how busy it gets compared to the size of the place and selection. Crowd size isn't necessarily their fault, as gyms in the area have been closing and people need somewhere to go, but it's something I do hope is considered for future remodeling and/or additions. Another issue is with people (primarily but not limited to the younger crowd) hogging machines while on their phones for several minutes between sets. Sign of the times I suppose, and most certainly not an issue specific to Crunch. Wish stuff like that could be policed a little more though. Otherwise it's a pretty good place

My experience at crunch in Blaine has been pretty great. I only come usually twice a week. It can be a little crowded, but it’s a popular place because they have prices you can’t really beat. I have the class, tanning, hydro massage and child care package. I have to use the childcare sometimes and it’s always been a good experience for my kids-no complaints from them. I would say the childcare area is set up for younger children, toddler age. I wish there were some other things there for the younger-big kids.

I was hesitant to try a class because I was new to this “gym thing” and I don’t really know how to use gym equipment or do formal exercises… but I went for it and signed up for a class. The classes are great! The instructor Alex made me feel welcomed on my very first day. She is enthusiastic, pumped up, and always changes her routines week to week. She is a rockstar person. You get so much more out of your gym time when you take a class from someone who knows what they’re doing, is pushing you to keep on going, and makes the whole experience worth it.

I also enjoy the sauna and hydro massage bed.

I like how they have a sauna in the locker rooms ❤️ along with swimming, and a hot tub- although the hot tub was broken… but the sauna did it for me.

So 3 🌟 for that- along with the AMOUNT OF MEN in this gym! I gave myself a little corner to workout and somehow my space was taken up by 3-4 grown men who didn’t even think to consider my space while using a free weight barbell. Oh and then a male staff walked into the women’s locker room without announcing or making it known there is a male staff entering, although he was escorted or partnered with a female staff.
A lot of the women along with myself in there felt disturbed- as I’ve never witnessed anything like this. They could have at least provided some awareness or wait until it’s cleared/less women in there. He held his head down obviously- sure, no intentions of invading privacy of women… but still doesn’t make it okay that male staff could just walk in like it’s normal with another female staff.

However, I only came as a guest so I suppose, overall, enough cardio equipments, weights or weighted machines do get taken up more.

Ps. It’s so fun they have a childcare corner here!

Something is always broken. If it’s not the pool, it’s the hot tub or the massage chair. And if those are working there is always 1 or 2 machines that are broken. Maybe if someone enforced the no dropping the weights policy your equipment would work. You always have a ton of people at the front desk doing nothing. They could be cleaning because the place is a mess as well. The only reason I am a member is that it’s close to my house. Most importantly when I bring my kids with me I feel comfortable leaving them with Janet. She is always so welcoming and makes sure to ask if our kids have any special instructions and knows them by name and seems excited to see them. Having someone consistently in childcare that know my kids has been a huge relief for a mom of 3 looking to stay healthy.

I was a bit skeptical of finding a new place to workout after the sudden closure of my old gym, went in for my first day yesterday and loved the environment. Staff were friendly/attentive, the space was comfortable and I'm actually really excited about continuing my health journey here!

Quit locking the gym door 30 minutes before close, if the gym closes at 11pm the doors shouldn't be locked at 10:30pm. Your front desk staff pretended I wasn't there banging on the door like a maniac trying to get in to use the sauna for 15 minutes. I do like the new sauna though.

EDIT: Edited review stars from 2 to 4 since they got back to me and made changes, thank you to Shay.

Genuinely the best gym experience I've had (in 25 yrs of gym-hopping). Every time I walk in I feel seen and welcome. The energy is upbeat it feels like a community. My trainer (shout out Bianca) is encouraging, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The childcare staff are so trustworthy and positive. I feel great leaving my kids for my hour of selfcare. The yoga studio is thoughtfully planned with awesome ambiance. I sometimes use it for recovery stretching when there is no class. Crunch has every amenity I would ask for at a seriously unbeatable price. Being in one of the more stressful seasons of life, Crunch in Blaine has been an awesome respite. Thanks everybody!

I recently joined Crunch Fitness in Blaine, MN, and I have to say, it has been a fantastic experience so far. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, which is really important to me. There is a wide variety of machines, equipment, and classes for all.

A special shoutout to Andrew, one of the personal trainers, who has been incredibly kind and helpful toward my fitness goals. His dedication and personalized approach have made a huge difference in my progress, and I truly appreciate his support. If you are thinking of getting a trainer, I highly recommend Andrew.

One area for improvement would be the tanning beds and hydromassage area. They could benefit from more regular cleaning to maintain the high standards set by the rest of the facility. I often visit these areas and notice the floor is a mess.

Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to join Crunch Fitness in Blaine, and I look forward to continuing my fitness journey here!

Come on Crunch, you can do better! Completely out of sanitizing wipes today! No way to wipe down the machine before or after use! One good thing... the pool and hot tub is working again. The hot tub had been down for at least 2 weeks prior.

I've been coming to this gym for just over 2 years, and I'm completely satisfied with it.

They have at least one of pretty much every machine/weight rack you could want, and the gym has expanded quite a bit since I first started going. They have a large free weight area, 5 squat racks, 3 bench presses, multiple cable machines, and ~50 treadmills/stairmasters/bikes.

There is quite the range in experience level for the members here, meaning there isn't much pressure and the atmosphere is quite casual. There are many people, both staff and other members, who are happy to help inexperienced lifters get better. The other attendees have all been respectful and friendly, in my experience.

The base membership, which I have, is only ~$200 a year, so it's quite affordable.

My complaints about this gym are really minor in comparison to all of the good things. It is overall a very well executed gym.

Been working out here for the last few months. I go in the mornings and it’s not too busy. Good selection of machines and free weights.

Lexi does a great HIIT class on Friday mornings. It’s a great way to end out the week.

As of 01/07/2024, their entry level monthly plans are reasonable and very competitive to comparable gyms such as planet fitness. Yes, there are more premium plans available but they are still cheaper than other gyms and you still get a good selection of weights and equipment. With premium plans you get classes, swimming pool, hydro massage and more.

TL;DR - it’s pretty darn good

I was a member of this gym a year or so ago. It was perfectly fine. Only complaint was that it seemed like the equipment was always out of order. I canceled because I never went. I rejoined in November because there was a deal for $1 down. The gym looks great, they have classes and punching bags which is what I wanted. I signed up and the person who I was dealing with was great, but they seemed new. They said they did some error with my barcode, and I could not get into the App. They said give 24 hrs. So, after a couple days I called and asked to speak with a manager because I could not sign into the App yet, and they like didn't want to pass me to the Mgr, like they were afraid to do that. I went into the gym, spoke with someone and told them what was going on, they changed my barcode to my phone number. They again said in 24 hrs I should be able to log into the app.I even filled out a form stating the issue and was told the Mgr. would call me. The app did not work. I called and asked to speak to the Mgr in 2 days, and they said the Mgr was not in. They also seemed weired out that I wanted to speak to a Mgr. I told them I was dealing with this issue for a bit, I can't log into APP so I can't register for classes. They told me to call later, and I stated I have called and filled out a form and the Mgr has not called me back. It should be their job to call me back. A day or 2 went by, no call from anyone. I physically went into the gym, they looked at my phone and did everything I already tried. I told them I want a refund and to cancel the membership. They were nice and suggested they could send and IT request but I thanked them for their effort, but I can't give my business to a place where the Mgr does not contact you when there is an ongoing issue. I was never expecting and instant fix, but the fact that I had to try so hard to get help and never got a phone call or email is alarming.

The fact that I have to even give them one star is infuriating. I have requested many times to cancel even getting a confirmation one of the times and I am still getting charged. Now I owe on my account for the gym that I canceled months ago and am getting constant calls. I do not live in the area and can not stop by. I called and they said you have to come in. On the website it says cancel membership which I have done over and over and I’m not understanding if they are lying on the website or when I call.

Update.
I spoke with customer service and I told the guy I wasn’t paying unless I can cancel and he said absolutely I will help you with that, help you cancel and we will do a one time payment and not put your card on file. So I payed and he said ok I can’t cancel your account you need to go in or send a letter. Words can not describe my anger.

I really like Crunch Fitness, I don’t care for the parking lot but that’s just due to the fact there are many businesses over there, it’s not Crunch’s Fault. Anu is an amazing Zumba Instructor I left another gym due to her leaving and followed her to here. I like how Crunch has many different fitness classes. Austin HIIT class is amazing, I took it for the first time a few weeks ago and I loved it. Austin made it very comfortable for newer people but pushed you! I love all of the different workout machines there are and how diverse the gym is

Decent gym if you're on a budget.

They won't let you deadlift wearing only socks. (Not super uncommon amongst commercial gyms, just non-sensical.)

Overall I enjoyed my experience as a member for around 9 months.

Decided to join Lifetime instead. Better hrs. Amazing locker rooms. No need to bring your own lock. Basketball, racquetball, tennis courts, etc. Steamroom! Clean towels. Only downside is no tanning beds like Crunch. Membership at Lifetime is $99.99/month. Crunch was about $32/month.

The floors in all areas of the gym are frequently dirty. The spin class bikes sometimes don't have working screens. During the summer the class rooms were ridiculously hot.
