We make Happy Humans through in-home personal training. We serve Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Twin Cities metro area.
But hang on a second... this isn't just your typical wham-bam hour of sweat and pain.
Short-term thinking backfires. Boot camps, crash diets, workouts that make you vomit - these approaches don't work in the long run. And they could land you in the hospital. That's not how we do it.
Fitness is tied up with every aspect of your life. How you move, how you eat, how you think.
Our weekly sessions with you are just the starting point. We work with you to build good habits that last a lifetime. This is a 'whole day approach'. Because if your habits last so does your fitness.

I’ve been working with Ellie for a few months now. She is very knowledgeable and listens and cares about what your body has been through, its unique set of circumstances, and finds ways to help you do work that will make it feel much better. We’ve been focusing areas that will created more stability and balance and by the end of the first month I could do things I was previously nervous about, like opening a sticky window because I thought I’d throw my back out- I don’t worry about that anymore. Most of the things we do are slow and very intentional and really focus on correct movement to make sure I’m getting the most out of the work I’m putting in. It’s not overwhelming, I never feel like I’m dying. Don’t get me wrong, we push me and I work hard, but it never feels too hard or not do able. It feels sustainable and I’m learning a lot, even though I’ve been in and out of the fitness world over the years myself.
Not only that but she is a wonderful person, lovely to be around and so easy to talk to!

We have had the pleasure of working with Andrea S. for about a year now. She goes beyond talking proper form and providing exercises. Andrea was so supportive and patient through setbacks and challenges with accountability. She provided coaching along the way that would get us back on track. Trainer Ellie and the team at Happy Human made fitness feel DO-ABLE. I have had both of my hips replaced in the past year and it was ‘a thing’ for me to return to exercise. Ellie was the first person, not even my physical therapist could help, to help me find and reactivate some of the muscles that were ‘asleep’ from the years of pain and then surgery. Andrea is hands down the best personal trainers I’ve worked with. She’s always on time, super reliable, and incredibly flexible with my schedule. What I really appreciate is how she tailors each session to fit my specific health needs — especially as I’ve been working to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol.

I have been meeting on Zoom with Lori for almost 3 years. She creates a personalized exercise routine for me each week. Lori watches my form, takes into account my goals, knows my strengths and weaknesses and most recently is helping me mentally power through an injury. I am much more consistent with my exercising because of her!

I worked with Tyler H. as my personal trainer for 5 months. During this time, he taught me about nutrition and healthy eating habits, helped me set realistic goals, and showed me how to work out effectively without exacerbating my existing back problems. Tyler is very pleasant to work with and encouraged me every step of the way without shaming me. Katharina is amazing! She makes our workouts fun and challenging. She motivates and pushes us to go a little further than we think we can without being forceful. She teaches us how to safely push limits without hurting ourselves and knows how to work around existing injury.
She’s easy to communicate with and very responsive when questions or schedule conflicts arise.
Very importantly, she is fantastic with our kids. They make workouts fun for them as they compete against each other. They both tell me the time flies and they’re already feeling stronger.

Bryan has been my personal trainer for the last three years and he has helped and encouraged me to work out using weights and more cardio. He has been great to work out with even when he makes me do burpees! He is very knowledgeable on exercising and dieting. I absolutely love my sessions with Alison! I look forward to my Saturday mornings with her. I appreciate how she asks me about how I’m feeling and what I want to gain out of each session. She’s not shaming or terrifying so I feel totally comfortable just being myself. I feel like I have a lot to work on, still, but the slower pace is helping me make this change more sustainable (for me). I have a lot of lower back issues and chronic pain and she’s helped me find ways to exercise with that instead of against it. I highly recommend happy human !

Love love love. We just moved to the area before COVID-19 hit, and really wanted a real human to train us so we had some human interaction and were able to stay active during the pandemic. Amber was super fast to respond and get us set up with a trainer who could do online sessions during COVID-19 social isolation. Our trainer, Alison, is also amazing. She is the best personal trainer that either of us have had, and we both look forward to our sessions with her (except for when we are sleepy, but that is through no fault of hers). Everyone we have interacted with is super friendly, positive, and encouraging. If you are looking for trainers in the Minneapolis area I cannot recommend Happy Human enough.

Came to this trainer already in shape wanting to maintain, improve, and explore different areas of fitness. I am surprised how much my balance has improved since working with Jesse and Amber. I have been working with Happy Human for about a year now and I am super impressed with them. My Trainer, Ryan, is really good. He listens to me, sets up routines and goals that work for my life. When I started with Happy Human, I was very irregular with working out and I had issues in my knee and elbow from old injuries. Ryan got a plan that got me on track consistently working out 4-5 times a week and included exercises that actually stopped the pain completely in my elbow and has helped with my knee. My doctor, and a PT weren't able to do this.
Last summer, I was able to bike 40 miles for the first time ever.
I love that the trainers come to you. I have a gym in my apartment building so it makes it very affordable. When I travel, I have body weight workouts I can do instead.
They are super personalized to what you need, very approachable. I highly. highly recommend their service and it is worth the value!

Sessions with Chloe are going amazing. She is always on time. She is also really helping me improve my strength and wellness at my own pace. She is body positive and has never made my journey about anything other than my goals of strengthening my body. I would and have recommended her to anyone and everyone, especially to other fat people who are uncertain about being judged or forced into goals that are not important to them. She’s fantastic, you’ve found a good one!!

I LOVE working with Ryan. I am learning a lot about my body, he's super knowledgeable and he's really good at explaining to me about which muscle groups I should be working etc. I'm becoming the kind of person that actually likes my workouts - never thought that would happen. The accountability of having him come to my apartment building gym and having a plan for me before I start my workday is perfect! These guys have been extremely helpful to get me and my wife on track from a fitness and general health perspective. I've struggled with being obese for most of my life. After getting some lifestyle changes rolling and reaching the halfway point in my weight loss, I knew that I needed to hone my body as I lose the rest of the fat. But I had no idea where to start--I had zero experience with strength training and no firm understanding of the best way to balance my workouts.
I'm so happy I decided to take the plunge and reach out to Happy Human. Amber took the time to consider my specific needs and goals and recommend a couple of trainers who would help me get there.
Kyle does an excellent job of assessing where I'm at and what level of challenge I'm ready for. He tailors my workouts towards addressing my weaknesses and building the core strength I need to push myself further. Kyle explains all of the exercises fully in ways I understand and remember, from proper form to the muscle groups I'm working and the impact they'll have on my body. He's actively making sure I'm both pushing myself in a healthy way and leveraging proper form. In addition, he's happy to share a host of nutritional knowledge and suggestions based on what I'm looking to adjust. After our sessions, he emails me a recap of what we did, things to remember about the movements, and recommendations for working out throughout the week. He's always available even outside of our sessions to answer questions.
Kyle is kind, understanding, and a great listener. He's a joy to work with and I feel incredibly comfortable in and empowered by our sessions. I can't stress enough that this team of excellent trainers are there for you no matter what your level is, what you're looking to achieve, and what you have available at home. They're truly there for you in every facet. Highly recommended.

Lori does an excellent job tailoring my work-out to my needs and capabilities. Since starting to work with her, I've gotten much stronger, have more balance and energy, and much better muscle tone. And Lori manages to make it all super fun, always watching that I push myself enough to advance, but never too much, avoiding injury. She puts together very versatile programs for each session, always different and interesting, so the work-out never feels repetitive. I am 67 years old and have rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. I recently was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
I really love working with Jocey. She is knowledgeable, patient, and empathetic and at the same time tough. Jocey will "poke" me, and apparently I need that. Poke me to food journal and be accountable to her, move and make and keep dr. appts.
I have lost some weight, about 2 lbs per month, and although I wish it was more, I also understand that this is good rate of weight loss. I feel like it will stay off, and more will come off if I keep up what I'm doing.
Even more important, I feel better.and that's because Jocey has helped me figure out a lot about movement.
I have tried everything to lose weight, and like most overweight people, I know what I should be eating. But why haven't I been able to? Jocey has helped me modify my behavior, and that has been the key.

I would highly recommend "I think I can Fitness"
Bryan Milliard has been my trainer for the last few months and I can honestly say he was the best investment I have made in a long while. Bryan is not only knowledgeable about fitness, but truly cares about helping you achieve your goals. He customized my home workouts, as well as developed programs I could take on the road when I traveled. Not only did Bryan help me to get in better shape, but he showed me how to correctly do each exercise. I was especially impressed with his punctuality at 5:30 am - (two days a week) and his ability to switch up an exercise with very little exercise equipment. It is amazing what you can do with bands, a ball and hand weights.
If you want to lose weight, firm up and do it at home. I would highly recommend Bryan Milliard.
