Corporate should be embarrassed to call this a lifetime facility since it's managed so very very poorly. Things are always broken at this location and there is never any urgency to fix them.
## Update for Nov. 25th 2025 - The facility has reopened, but most of the men's locker room is closed "temporarily" including whirlpool, sauna, steam room. That leaves just 3 rows of lockers open on one side. so now you are literally stepping over people to get to your locker. Once again, lifetime has no shame in horribly inconveniencing their guests. For over 1.5 years, half of this side of the locker room was previously closed with ugly plastic hanging down, during which time they did nothing! I'm guessing they will unashamedly continue this men's locker room construction well into late 2026. Again, extremely poor planning, no considerations to minimized impact to paying guests, and horribly slow execution.
## Update for Nov. 17th 2025 - Another new low has been reached, now the entire facility is closed "temporarily". For lifetime that usually means weeks or months.
## Update for Nov. 2025 - A new low has been reached, whirlpool is still broken, the locker area is still blocked off in preparation of improvements since 18 months ago, and now the dry sauna is broken as well. so much for any luxury, this place is a dirty dump that is completely mismanaged. And they still had the guts to raise monthly fees this year. they should instead be refunding a portion of dues for not providing services promised for the high price. maybe a "breach of contract" class action lawsuit is needed to wake them up?
## Update for October 2025 - it's been another whole year and things are exactly the same as oct. 2024! whirlpool is broken again, the locker area is still blocked off, and the dry sauna is still disgusting with gross deteriorated baseboards with black mold on them. corporate does NOT care about their reputation. someone needs to be fired.
## Update for October 2024 - Men's whirlpool closed yet AGAIN? It always takes them a week or more just to do simple maintenance? The men's locker room water fountain is broken again! The back 2 rows of lockers are still blocked off for renovations that have not happened for at least 6 months now. How inconvenient for guests. Amazing that lifetime fitness doesn't care at all that they have such a horribly managed club that is ruining their reputation.
##Update for Sept. - back section still closed with zero progress! Amazing and pitiful! Back shower is finally open after several months.
##Update for August - other than the whirlpool, all the things i mentioned for June are STILL not fixed!
##Update for June - in the men's locker room alone, they've had the back section closed for remodel for 2 months but haven't done anything other than inconvenience guests. The back shower has had crime scene tape x'd across it for over 2 weeks, The whirl pool has been closed yet again for at least a week now. Nothing is urgent with life time, they just didn't care.
Lastly, the towels at this location look and feel like they haven't been replaced in years. Thin, worn out, rough feeling, and dingy looking. And if you go in the dry sauna have a look at the filthy 2x4 wooden flooring and the sloppy workmanship where the floor meets the wall. And don't look at the gross floor between the spaces on the wooden flooring as that looks like black mold under there.

I want to like it here so badly, but it is hard. The hot tub has been under maintenance since I joined, although it never looks any different after a month and a half. The staff is super friendly at least. The equipment works well and appears to be well maintained. I just can't get over how dank and dirty the locker room feels. The sauna and steam room are grossly dirty. The bathroom is never clean and the afore-mentioned hot tub looks like it has been under maintenance for a year. I may never actually get my money's worth here, but at least it isn't Planet Fitness.
**UPDATE** The locker rooms were closed for almost a week due to water damage and now only 2 banks of lockers are open back up. The fact that they aren't even trying to compensate their members for any loss of use is pretty crappy.

General maintenance never takes place, 50% of lockers broken, hot tub down for 6 months, staff doesn’t even change out burnt out light bulbs. This Lifetime feels a lot more like an LA Fitness than a Lifetime, seems like easy fixes but Lifetime corporate giving up on this gym location

I’ve been a member for years and I have no clue where our membership dues are going, because it’s definitely not into the Bloomington location. Every other Lifetime club I visit has had major upgrades and renovations, meanwhile this location continues to deteriorate.
The hot tub is almost never in working order. The sauna is literally rotting from multiple angles. The carpet throughout the gym is musty and overdue for replacement. There are mold-like spots under peeling wallpaper near the ellipticals—completely unacceptable in a facility at this price point.
On top of that, a section of the men’s locker room has been “closed for construction” for over two years with no progress. It’s beyond ridiculous and not at all what members are paying premium rates for.
Bloomington desperately needs attention, maintenance, and investment. Until then, I can’t recommend this location to anyone.

I’ve only been here a few times. Staff are super friendly. Bikes have old gum stuck to them in the cup holders and the hot tub has never been open.
Edit - found more chewing gum on a treadmill. The sauna could use a deep clean as there is tons of hair in between the floor boards. Many of the lockers are broken and the hot tub still does not work.
Staff continue to be very friendly so I appreciate that.

The male front desk staff are amazing! Always in a great mood. The facility is a pretty standard gym. They don't have all the amenities that other lifetime gyms may have for standard and signature membership. They do have a great tennis court and updated equipment. The cleaning staff are always friendly and personable. The bathrooms are clean and loved the sauna, whirlpool, and steam room in the bathroom, it's like having a mini spa day. They have a small cafe which has delicious snacks and meals and coffee! Please shout out to your front desk staff. Seriously, their energy is great, which makes arriving and leaving feel amazing 👏

Bloomington South Lifetime is awesome! I feel super comfortable here. They have a long list of classes and amenities and some of the absolute best instructors you'll find anywhere. Linda, Jennifer & Zoe, are such great teachers. Elsie and Kat are amazing. I really needed some life-changing classes and coaches, and I feel so lucky to have found them here. The instructors care about your well-being, your form, and your progress. I've only been a member for a few months, and I'm a total introvert, but they have had fun and engaging events and gently encourage a sense of community. It actually feels as good as the workouts sometimes to be part of something fun. And I've got swag, snacks and smoothies for participating in a few things that they probably could charge for but they provide complimentary events with treats and gifts. They greet lots of regulars by name, which helps me to feel and act like I'm part of a community. I love that there's a hot tub and a sauna in the women's locker room. This facility may be a bit dated, but it is well taken care of. They're cleaning the locker room nearly every time I'm in there. I literally saw someone cleaning dust from the provided hair dryer with a cotton swab. That's impressive.

This is unfortunate as I have been a lifetime member for a long time and normally have loved my experience. I was visiting this club and was training in the pool. As I pushed off the side wall it felt like my toe got cut and sure enough my toe was sliced open on a light that was not secured into the wall properly. After letting the front desk know right away that there was something in their pool that sliced my toe open I was told that they would fix the problem immediately and that they would reach out to me by Belle the manager. She was nice when I talked to her and apologized but the club has since never reached out. The reason this is so unfortunate is because I’m training for an Ironman and this set my training back significantly. I also noticed that although I did bleed in the pool, they did not get everyone out of the pool and instead just let members continue to use it. I know that is not sanitary, I won’t be going to this club again and would expect more out of lifetime.

Extremely excellent service . The facility is beautiful. It is very well maintained always clean. Of all of the locations this one is the best including the fancy Edina location. The staff makes you feel that they appreciate your business. This year there will be special hours for Seniors. With limited access times so that they can get more memberships for younger people. So many classes to take to benefit your health.

If you’re a lifter don’t go here. 3 incline benches in the whole gym including the barbell bench. Something always seems to be broken, gym layout is terrible. Low ceilings, cramped, one blinding glass dispersing window you can’t see it but hurts your eyes to be near. Only reason it’s not a 1 is because lifetime staff are always friendly at every gym, and they clean often.

It.is still pretty much the same, layout, non-remodeled Gym as it was when I used to work hot there in "15
THE Men's hot tub jacuzzi was still the same metal, sterline, cold, uninviting tub it was then. No sauna in Men'a room as I could find. The showers were not very warm at all, not Hot! This old LTF needs to be bulldozed and built like the one in EDina, with the location, it would be busy. What a joke. The friendly blonde lady at the front desk was nice though !

They refuse to update equipment, enhance user experience, and overall cleanliness.
This is similar at all of their clubs. But some are invariably similar.
However lifetime has increased their fees 7 times in the past 2 years. Putting their club fees at insane prices for no increase in value.
Though they did repave the parking lot... wow.

As other reviewers mention, this Lifetime isn’t the cleanest and it doesn’t have the greatest selection of equipment. Everything feels outdated from the carpeted exercise area to the showers that smell vaguely of wet dog. But I keep coming back with the crew of misfit regulars and retirees because the staff are great and it doesn’t feel as pretentious as the other locations. I recommend Jacob as a trainer if you’re looking for strength training from someone who is knowledgeable and encouraging without the salesy former athlete arrogance you’d expect from male trainers. I knew absolutely nothing when I started working with him and now feel confident weight lifting. Note to management: Please remove the carpet and add extra squat racks!

They will kick you off the treadmills for a class with ZERO signs of when these classes start. The lockers are apparently second homes for members at this gym, so there are very very limited options to use a locker. TONS of members sit on machines texting or scrolling on their phones so machines are also hard to come by at the busy hours. Very expensive gym for the experience you will have.

Overall isn’t a bad gym. However it is definitely the worst Lifetime in the twin cities. They only have 2 incline benches, the location is very out dated, and the steam room and sauna are rarely clean. I will say however they have a very deep pool compared to most Lifetimes. Their staff is mostly friendly, its just not worth the price point. Every other Lifetime i’ve been to is significantly better than this location!

If you are 10% of the wealth in Minnesota, you can afford this place & all the a-La-carte extras they charge you to participate in. ZERO chance for a free trial. They want your money but won’t even give you a day to decide if you or they want your business. Their current 10% of wealthy population doesn’t want any outsiders (according to their surveys)
If you want to feel pretentious & privileged, definitely go here. I did a tour and felt 100% out of place and not welcome. Where’s the incentive to join??!
$80 for a day pass!!! They really don’t want new clients.
Pre CoVID it was $12 and $8 for the pool (for reference)
Also, a lot of outdated equipment. I’m off to LA fitness where they have a 3 day pass there to try out. Take note

The facility is a LifeTime facility and therefore it’s in pretty good shape. The staff are for the most part friendly and welcoming.
I rated this location 4 stars for a few reasons. As a gym it covered the basic needs and more, they have a nice pool and the men’s locker facilities are pretty decent and clean.
This facility has plenty of machines, lots of free space for weights / yoga / stretching, very cold water fountains (which is wonderful), ample basketball courts, tennis courts, studio classes and space to reserve, a cafe, and child care services. Additionally, the locker rooms have private hot tub, sauna, and steam rooms.
I do wish that cleaning staff would go through the sauna and steam rooms, though. There is regularly hair, lint, and dirt in both.
The water level in the hot tub seemed about a foot low, as well.
The clientele at the time I went (approximately 8pm) was very loud and disruptive in the locker room, and one party was video chatting what I would assume to be his family in the locker directly next to me. When I informed the front staff, they did nothing to remedy the problem.

This location is nice. The women's and men's locker rooms are on different floors. The women's is main floor and basement and the men's on the second floor. The weights are located on the basement floor as well as the tennis courts. The basketball court is on the main floor. The little store do basic things like smoothies and some food to go. You can't order hot food there anymore. The Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are located in the locker rooms. The best time to go is in the morning. We asked if we could have a written program and decided to try to do the lesson ourselves, it went okay, until the personal trainer Prince saw us struggling and took time out of his day to help us! He was awesome and made it fun!
It makes me feel like he someone who actually cares about the members and wants to help them react their goals. Thank you Prince!

A friend and I both signed up for guest passes. We are actively checking out different fitness centers to pick which one is the best fit for both of us. We both are trying you get back into shape. Although this facility is large and full of amenities, it is lacking very severely in customer service. The gentleman at the desk scanned or QR codes, asked for our phone numbers and asked to see our ID'S. After returning our ID cards, he handed us each a generic guest card and turned away from us. He didn't tell us where the locker room was, the pool, the sauna, or anything else. Extremely unwelcoming and made us feel like we were unwanted at all.

I really like the 98th Street LT. All the peoples who work there are very knowledgeable and super friendly. Their biggest secret weapon is Bruce Gullikson and the rest of the tennis crew (okay, his boss, Doug is totally cool too).
Bruce drives me to the point of annihilation and I would do anything to be in the same drill the following week. I also hit poor Bruce occasionally during Spanish Core by “accident” but he is getting twitchy and faster.
The people that run the tennis desk are also second to none … they know what’s happening at any point in time and they keep me up to date (they also listen to my jokes because they are not supposed to run away).

This is a great location. Lots of space, well maintained equipment. The pool is smaller than normal. I think it's only 15 yd/m.

Overall nice place. I usually go early in the morning so I can only speak to that time but weights/benches/etc don't always look to be tidied up from the night before. Everything else is good.

Another really nice 'gold' level club, lots of amenities. The two-level locker room seems weird, but maybe it's because I don't use the tennis facilities on the lower level. Pool is small, but I like the layout of the weight/machine area and the fitness studios are nice. My only complaint is that they seem to do a lot of employee meetings and presentations in the 'yoga' fitness studio, I've been kicked out multiple times while working out or practicing on my own - do they not have an employee meeting space at this location?

Was disappointed that they don't enforce the rules. There were young Muslim Kids in the pool and hot tub without showering and wearing dirty clothes and they smelled because they hadn't showered

Good place overall - lots of cardio equipment, racquetball, tennis, steam rooms, sauna, pool, group classes, on and on. Free parking, can rent lockers which I appreciate and is not available in all locations.
Something that bothers me about Lifetime in general is if you ask for help or advice, the response usually comes in the form of a pitch for a $100+ extra/mo group class. I think they might have more success with that sort of thing if they help someone get into a habit with what is already available first.

High prices and new equipment orientation makes it extremely challenging to get the equipment you need in a timely manner. Staff only care if you also pay for group classes or personal training above your monthly due. Equipment also poorly maintained something's remained broken for months.

By far the least maintained club in the market. Free weight area is constantly trashed, towels and sanitation wipes can be found all over equipment, and after a few visits your gym bag with have enough cat and dog hair your shoes picked up from the carpet that you’ll question if your S.O. is secretly hiding a pet at home.
This club has maintained a reputation among members for years as being a poorly managed club. If you’re restricted to this location, you’re better off saving your $100/mth and going someplace else.

Cancelled membership on the 1st because it was too expensive. Asked for a refund. They charged me for another $11 to put my account on hold so the manager can refund it. Still haven't received my refund yet - it's been 16 days. Every time I walk in to ask if I can speak to the manager, the staff would say that the manager is not in. Very unprofessional. They seem very stingy. Would not come back.

Absolutely horrible. EVERY SINGLE TIME that I come here an elderly white lady has a problem with my son being in the women’s locker room, I get talked to EVERY SINGLE TIME. I’ve brought it to staffs attention, multiple times.
Tonight an elderly white lady yelled at me in front of my son, she said “he’s not supposed to be up here, he’s too old”
I brought my son to the downstairs locker room, put him in the shower and was going back upstairs to talk to her about why she should never yell at a mother in front of her kid, or yell at anyone for that matter and I ran into the staff person. I told her, and I calmed down and went to wash my kid.
Come out of the shower to hear the same elderly white lady say “well, you know, nice people raise nice kids, and she wasn’t very nice”
How dare you accuse me or my son of anything, I have the MOST polite son on the planet.
Wow.
Mind you, I did nothing but respond “yep” when she raised her voice at me, and my son was doing nothing but sitting in the hot tub with me talking about swimming.
Guess I’m too brown to have a lifetime fitness membership.

PSA: there are currently no showers, saunas, or steam rooms in the men's (and women's as well if I am not mistaken) lockers rooms due to them being under construction. It is my understanding that the reason for the maintenance is due to faulty plumbing which caused a leakage from the locker rooms or something like that? Come on Lifetime...we pay too much money for elementary plumbing mistakes that put showers out of commission!
