I came to try this gym because the West St.Paul locations red light booth was out of order. It’s on the snaller side but still has everything you need. I love how cool the temp is and that the fans kick up a lot of air. It’s huge help when doing cardio.

Gym is clean and has a quiet crowd. The amenities work and the staff have been super nice each time I’ve visited. It’s never too busy either and I tend to go between 10-11 am each day. Overall a great experience.

I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a few months now, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the facilities and services they offer. One of the standout features for me is the wide range of equipment available. From cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals to strength training equipment like free weights and resistance machines, they've got everything I need to stay fit and healthy.

But what really sets Planet Fitness apart is the additional amenities they offer.

The massage chairs (traditional and hydro) are a game-changer - I've used them after tough workouts and they're incredibly relaxing. The tanning beds are also a nice touch, and I've not used them personally.

However, the real highlight for me is the Total Body Enhancement (TBE) machine. It's a red light therapy bed that promises to improve skin tone, reduce inflammation, and even help with muscle recovery. I've used it a few times and I've definitely noticed a difference in how my skin looks and feels.

Overall, I'm really happy with my experience at Planet Fitness. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the equipment and amenities are top-notch. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive fitness solution at an affordable pricing.

This club just made changes to their cardio equipment. In spite of the treadmills and ellipticals always being busy, they cut the amount of treadmills and ellipticals they had in half. They also removed all of the arc trainers, the bikes with easier seats, and the other equipment meant for people who were older or had mobility concerns. They added a few extra stair climbers and crunched the treadmills closer together.
Plus, the massage chairs in the black card lounge don't work well, and one of the massage beds is on the way out as well. So the black card lounge is pointless.
If you're going to the gym for weights, this gym is great. If you're going for cardio, are older, or need a gym that caters to people who are not already fit: look elsewhere.

I’ve been to many gyms over the years and I am very picky about cleanliness. I will quit if I think they’re gross. There are spray stations available everywhere throughout, and all of the members are really good about cleaning up after themselves. And there is always someone in the change rooms keeping them clean.

This was my first time at a planet fitness, I stopped in with a friend.

We walked in and checked in at the desk. The fella behind the desk was very friendly.

The locker rooms are plentiful and clean. There are plenty of lockers and showers.

The floor layout is cramped in some areas. A better layout of equipment could go a long way. There are many machines but they are tight together, like turn sideways to walk by tight. The dumbbell area is very cramped, I felt like I was in other people's space. There are a ton of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes laid out well. They have an area in the back corner that has a lot of potential.

They obviously are trying to provide enough machines and weights for the clients and I commend them for this. The layout could use a little bit of work to utilize the space better.

Overall it's a decent place that has a ton of equipment and a friendly staff.

Only been a member for a couple of months now, and either they upped their game or the older reviews are unfounded; I go at all different times/days and I almost always see a staff member cleaning, like actual deep cleaning and refilling stations. I’ve almost always been greeted either in or out, and have never had to wait to request time in a massage. My only ‘kind of’ complaint is they don’t seem to enforce the rules. I see people talking on/playing on their phones in the yellow circuit area and it’s annoying…like when it’s a flock of high schoolers hogging machines. But they’re kids so 🤷🏻‍♀️, not the end of the world.

Unfortunately, this is my go-to gym because Cottage Grove doesn't have many other options. I travel a lot for work and have visited several Planet Fitness locations across the country, and I have to say this one is by far the smallest and most poorly laid out.

There are very few machines here, and many are frequently broken. Repairs take months, which is frustrating. The free weight area is cramped, with some machines almost stacked on top of each other, making it hard to move around. A better layout would go a long way toward improving the experience.

This is also one of the dirtiest locations I’ve been to. I was recently at a Planet Fitness in Texas where the staff were literally on their hands and knees cleaning every inch of the place—it was spotless, not a speck of dust in sight. Here, if you put down a mat or do any floor exercises, dust, hair, and dirt fill the air. A stronger focus on cleanliness would make a huge difference.

Another issue is how crowded it gets, especially with high school kids. While the free workouts for teens are a nice idea in theory, many seem to treat it as a hangout spot rather than a gym. They’re often on their phones or messing around with the equipment, which can lead to damage or disruptions for other members. Signs enforcing time limits on equipment and stricter supervision during peak hours might help address this.

On the bright side, the $25/month membership for unlimited access to locations nationwide is a great value. However, I wish this location would step up its game with maintenance, cleanliness, equipment layout, and managing overcrowding to match the standards I’ve seen at other Planet Fitness gyms.

Compared to other Planet Fitness gyms I've been to, this one is pretty 'meh'. This gym is usually pretty busy, especially compared to other suburban PF gyms. Cleanliness is fine, but it could be better. The staff is hit and miss. Often, you'll only see one person around, and sometimes you're stuck with a staff member who is inattentive or who doesn't seem to want to be there. Overall, if there's another PF gym near you, I recommend going to that one instead.

I'm still giving it three stars for the variety of equipment and amenities that I've come to love from Planet Fitness gyms.

decently clean and friendly staff, one of the weaker equipment selections of other planet fitnesses in the country but mostly kept up well, but there are major issues. the "crowd meter" they use is wildly unrealistic. it frequently says it's at 1 bar, or the least crowded possible, and you'll go in and every smith machine is being used, every cable station, and 90% of the machines. now, a gym just being crowded is no cause for bitterness or anger, but whoever dictates how many people equate to how many "bars" on the crowd meter should be questioned.

alao, the "24/5" concept is the dumbest thing i've ever heard of. just have regular business hours or go full 24/7 like most other planet fitnesses.

the floorplan is also problematic in that's it's an unbelievably long narrow building so the cardio and weights are uncomfortably right on top of each other, tho i can't realistically fault them for it. the building is the building. tons and tons of cardio equipment and something is always free, so great if you just need to go in and do some cardio.

Trying to cancel my membership for months now. Through the cottage grove Mn. Club. I have sent emails and called personally not then 3 times and the manager is never in, when I lived there went in 2x and manager wasn’t in and that’s who I need to talk to to cancel. Tried looking info about the owner, that must be top secret information, tried calling the corporate off and was told I needed to get in touch with the club I signed up in (cottage grove) I get charged month for something I don’t need and the past 2 months they have overdrafted my checking account. So I guess a lawyer is probably next. It’s just a shame that you promote your business as being great when your customer service is non existent. Who do you think keeps your business going yep members so why treat them like this and steal their money. Beware to those who want to cancel it’s literally impossible. I moved 450 miles away and have no gyms within 75 miles of me so I don’t need this membership anymore.

Very disappointed. If I could give 0 stars I would. My husband and I are in town for work and we visit PF very often all over the US. This is the first one that I've been this disappointed in. Shower stalls were disgusting and hair all over glad I had shower shoes. The stall to change in were gross also. Dried lotion or shower gel all over floor and hair. No place to sit and change clothes except a very high stool. Just a disappointment all over. I'll make sure to never visit this one again. As I was leaving a cleaning woman came in. She was very nice only good part to my visit.

Chill place to workout. They have a nice variety of equipment to accommodate my current split workout plan including cardio + strength training and resources for crafting another personalized workout routine. Options for classes as well.

I'd definitely recommend the black card membership, it's the best value for your money in my opinion and the benefits are pretty smooth. Being a student and working part-time, I find the plans to be decently priced especially given how much I use them and get out of my membership.

No complaints overall. Friendly staff and clean environment. Sometimes I find myself wanting to go a little later on weekends, but their operating hours give me plenty of options for when I wanna fit in my workout.

I’m so tired of the people at this gym I tried to open a membership here . However , they don’t tell you they’re not 24 hour gym anymore , anywhere in the building . They started that during covid , and just decided they can do as they please and kept it that way . Lazzzzzzzy and disappointed. I had the membership for 3 weeks and then called to cancel . They then said I have to physically come in the gym to cancel . However I was out of town . A week later I get back to town and they charge me an annual 80 dollar fee , despite them knowing I attempted to cancel over a week prior . My account hit negative and my bank tacked on another 30 bucks. I went up to raise hell , but the 17 year old manager told me there’s nothing he can do , but he’ll make sure I’m not charged for anything else .well, a week later and it happened again . This company has cost me 180$ in just a week! The kid who answered the phone today and had to call the salary manager, who then told the kid that he wasn’t dealing with it today , and to have me call back tomorrow night . This place is an absolute joke , the entire staff, the equipment . And even the hours . The one in Rochester is quite nice . But this location definitely lacks in accountability and an ethical way. 180 bucks in one week ? For a 10 a month membership . I’m tellin you guys everyone should stay away! They don’t even have a customer service number !

The Cottage Grove PF is my favorite location in the Twin Cities. Even during peak times, it’s usually never too busy that I can’t get a few good moves in. The staff is friendly and take their time to engage with gym goers. I’ve seen staff take time out of their own workout to help others which I think is great. Locker rooms are always clean, and depending on staffing there’s usually someone making rounds to ensure the sanitation stations are full. If PF ever decided to add saunas, I’d be a member for life.

SIX machines with broken cables. Three of the broken units are standing pull cable units, there are four standing pull cable units, the units are often used in tandem, with three broken it is not possible for tandem use 75% broken. It's hard enough to get on machines when they are working. Current status is very disappointing, to say the least.

The staff at this location are terrible (especially in the evening). You’ll be standing at the desk with employees behind it, blatantly ignoring you so they can talk amongst themselves. This is the only planet fitness Woodbury cottage Grove area it is way too small it's run by a bunch of teenagers. That's are very lazy. There are way more cardio than weight machines There are too many people that are packed in a very small spay you have to wait for machine. This energy 360 Mason balls haven't been cleaned in 5 year mats are dirty and the bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned I walked in and it was like gritty tiles. Just build a planet fitness in Woodbury and it was alleviated a lot of the people in a small space also get some proper Management in there so they can actually get it cleaned

My husband and I have been members at this location since 2019. While generally it’s a nice club and clean, the staff is friendly-ish, some of the more popular equipment is in disrepair (cracked leather on a lot of weight equipment, broken erg/rowing machine display, etc. etc.). Debating if at some point the disrepair will be too much given their are other options in the are that seem to take better care of their equipment.

Also annoying, gym members that just sit on equipment to look at their phones during peak times, use the circuit area equipment but not as a circuit impeding the use by others that want to use the area as a circuit, etc. not sure if that is more on the members using the club or the club staff not actively enforcing things, but it is getting annoying when you can’t even use equipment/areas as intended for your workout.

Workout started strong. I was checked in and ready to go at 1 a.m. for an insomniacs workout. Couldn’t sleep because the dog I was watching took a dump on the floor and barked like there was no tomorrow. I did not get paid for watching that dog…
Anyway - I was there for 40 minutes before some ugly old man and his trophy wife (looked like they were on steroids) approached me. They started bothering me and asking if I had children. Yes - have 37 children which is why I am here at 1 a.m.
This couple followed me everywhere. Staff were unconcerned and no where to be found. I ended my fabulous workout early because of this interaction. Haven’t been back since.

Been standing at the counter now for 15 minutes to try and get a hydro bed. People are calling the phone as well and nobody is at the counter to answer. It's not a bad place.... but it's ghost if you're trying to get anyone to setup the massage or tanning booths. You can never find the getting desk employees. There's always people standing around the desk waiting for an employee to show up. I'm convinced you could work out there without a membership and no one would know the difference.

**In response to the owner's reply: I literally called 4 times with no answer and a voice mail that is full. The complaint was that the front desk is hardly staffed and the answer is to go to the front desk to discuss. That seems like the circle back to the original issue here.

Great commercial gym! Very clean, staff is awesome! Judgement free type of gym, no barbells or heavy equipment, but lots of cardio equipment and selectorized machines. Massage table and chairs are the bee's knees. I'm kind of brown, so I haven't used the tanning booth, but I'm sure that's great too! 😄

After some time to get settled in and attend multiple times I've come to the realization that I really enjoy this gym.

I've tried other gyms in the past, but they've always left me feeling alone and uncomfortable.

Planet Fitness is somehow different. There's a vibe here that I really enjoy and I want to keep going back.

Edit: Lowering my rating. A gym can't promote itself with signage as "Open 24/7" but close early on the weekends. And I was told they couldn't change the channel on any of the TVs (despite having like 20 of them) so I could watch the Minnesota Wild. If it's a corporate rule, it's a terrible one. I'm contemplating going to a different gym.

Good gym for the price. Lots of cardio equipment but limited in other areas.

Good equipment...weird rules. Apparently you can't have a gallon jug because it's "intimidating"??? Or something like that? I've never been to a gym that had a rule about the size of your water bottle. Regular size water bottle, or gallon jug..doesn't matter, if you aren't on an elliptical there is no cupholder. A gallon jug isn't disturbing the peace at all. A bottle the size of a teacup could make someone trip if it's placed out in the walkway. So don't tell your employees to prevent people from bringing in a bigger bottle, because that's nonsense

I have been a member at this location for almost a year and a half. The staff is friendly, I am usually greeted when entering and thanked when leaving. The club is generally clean. My one complaint is the number of smith machines. There are four at this location, however one has been temporarily out of order for going on three month now. Even when all four were working there was still a wait to use them. mean while there are over one hundred cardio machines and only 10 to 15 % of those are being used. Is there any chance you would consider adding more smith machines in the future ?
