I am a male in his 76th year who has found Yess Yoga to be a wonderful community where I have become a meaningful member. I have experienced classes in Slow Flow, Yin, Restorative and the Wise One sessions (one of the workshop series). The studio has thought thoroughly about it community from dressing room needs to two beautiful studios . With in-person and virtual participation each teacher has offered the important advice to listen to one’s body and take care of oneself over any other idea; such as correct yoga posture or even trying the posture suggested. I find yoga important for my mind, body and long-term health. I sincerely believe Yess Yoga can help you with the same. Yess Yoga makes all this possible with a senior discount.

My job requires me to travel a lot and when I am not traveling, I work long office hours. I LOVE attending the virtual yoga classes at Yess Yoga because of the convenience to plug in and take a class either on a work trip or when I am on my lunch hour in the office. The instructor’s make me feel like I am still a part of the class and are interactive with me even though I attend virtual. I feel supported and cared for in this community and plan to continue my yoga practice at Yess Yoga long term.

Pros: friendly instructors, welcoming community, good website, nice space. If you're looking for a trauma-informed instructor who will meet you wherever you're at, this is a good studio.

Cons: The music is just awful. Who plays music with lyrics during yoga? The acoustics in the room are so bad, it's echoey so you can't always hear if you're in the back. This causes inaudible cues. Doesn't help that yoga people talk so quiet.

Just don't go if you have hearing difficulties, or if you're picky about what you listen to during your practice.

The SPACE!!! Welcome to your urban solar forest bathing platform. Only topped by the exceptional people you will find frequenting and guiding here. I've had many instructors and loved them all in different parts of my heart. Yin that resets my ticking coffee brain (JP, Lucia), vinyasa that always seems to flow and loosen that stiff spot (Lucia, Vanessa), nidra that comes with personality (Elizabeth, Lucia), inspiration and poems. This is my favorite place to feel better.

I think the biggest indicator that this is a special space, is that the other attendees you are alongside are also exceptional. It's not something a business can "control", it's something only long-held, meticulous, intentional mutual care can steward and curate. Come here if you want to find yourself in a safe multigenerational, all bodies, racially diverse, activated and grounded sanctuary.

I have been attending Yess Yoga for 12+ years. It is an integral part of my weekly practice, keeping me balanced and grounded, which is especially helpful in these times of external geopolitical chaos. Yin Yoga is my favorite form of practice, with it’s slow, long holds.
I can’t say enough about the physical space which offers a calm beauty, filled with light, natural structural elements and an abundance of plants. It’s always appealing to step inside.
Lastly, I enjoy the talent, creativity and deep knowledge base of the practitioners who lead us through our classes each week. I equally resonate to Yess Yoga as a place of deep Integrity, Equity and Community!

I've been part of the Yess Yoga community for years and I can't think of a better Yoga experience. The physical space is light and spacious with plenty of greenery for the eyes. (especially helpful in the brown winter months) The staff and owner are extra friendly and welcoming while allowing space and quiet when appropriate. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand your yoga community.

I love Yess Yoga! I moved to Minneapolis about 7 months ago and have been a member at Yess for around the same time. It was the first yoga studio I tried when I was looking, and I felt welcomed, seen, and respected from my very first class.

At the time, I was new to my yoga journey, and I feel Yess has helped me to grow in all aspects of my yoga practice (physical, mental, spiritual). I have gained confidence and a true sense of community at this studio. Yess offers quite a few different style yoga classes (vinyasa, slow flow, yin, restorative, curvy, etc): I primarily take vinyasa (with and without adjustments) with Lucia, Victoria, and Steve, and each one brings such a beautiful, inviting energy to their classes. Definitely suitable for beginners (as I was when I started!), still with plenty of challenges for more advanced yogis. I wish I could take them all more!! I also am working on my teacher training here and have loved every single second of Yess's approach to train in the different styles, while also encorporating weekends for authenticity and chakra / personal growth work. I couldn't be more grateful for the connections I've made throughout this process.

I could go on and on (clearly lol), but TL;DR, I've grown in my practice and as a person at this studio. I could not recommend it more, and I'm happy my journey has led me here.

Yess is absolutely the best. You walk into Yess from the bustling Whittier neighborhood in Minneapolis and you're instantly transported into a calm, welcoming and peaceful space where everyone is kind and non-judgmental. It's a utopia.
The yoga teachers at Yess are all badass and amazing in their own, unique way. I appreciate the intentional and inclusive commuity / culture Yess is creating. And the plants and light pouring into the studios make you feel like the luckiest person to set foot in the room. I love it.

I love Yess Yoga for so many reasons, but the top three reasons are:
1. The quality of the yoga classes
2. The warmth of the community
3. The beautiful, welcoming space

The quality of the yoga classes is really so good. Every teacher has a unique style and honestly I haven’t taken a class at Yess that I haven’t liked. I worked at the Yoga Tree of San Francisco for many years and they had a rep for featuring “premier” yoga teachers (famous ones with photos in Yoga Journal, etc) so I have taken literal lay hundreds of yoga classes with these types of teachers and I think the teachers at yoga are offering a quality of flow and techno that is on par with this high caliber of yoga teacher, and yet they are also so warm, personable, and approachable. That’s what is so special about Yess Yoga. Which leads me into the second reason I love Yeas Yoga…

The culture of Yess Yoga is warmth, acceptance, community care, and inclusion. This is a testament to Lucia Yess and her particular magic. She is the owner of Yess Yoga and besides teaching classes that leave you feeling open and calm, she is also a web-weaver of community. Lucia makes you feel like you are important— she builds relationships with all of her students because she just genuinely loves people and values everyone’s uniqueness. It sounds corny maybe but I think Lucia would embrace the corniness because she readily embraces silliness, playfulness and awkwardness as much as centeredness, strength and wisdom in her yoga practice. Authenticity seems to be a guiding principle in how she chooses all teachers for Yess, an you’ll find that each person who teaches there seems to be hand-picked for their authenticity, for their passion for yoga, as well as a welcoming, non-judgemental vibe. That’s the culture of Yess and what makes being in that space instantly comfortable.

Which brings me to my third point— the space. It’s cozy, and it’s also gorgeous. Lucia bought the property a handful of years back when it was a parking lot and then designed the building, so it contains all these thoughtful details, and important ones like ADA accessibility. It has great energy, wood floors, huge windows and TONS of thriving plants! The plants are one of my favorite parts of the space. It just feels good in there. Go check it out and see for yourself.

I spent a LONG time "trying on" yoga studios when I moved to Minneapolis from Seattle. When I found Yess the fit was palpable! There are numerous classes that I can chose to meet my somatic needs from restorative, yin & yoga nidra, slow flow, to a more vigorous flow, and all taught by knowledgeable trauma informed teachers. Yess offers various workshops for deeper learning and expansion, and has a group of skilled wellness providers. But above all I feel seen, heard and honored in this sacred space. Come join us!

I've been at Yess for three years and it is home!!! If you're looking at yoga for exercise or interested in some of the newer yoga fads like hot yoga, this is probably not the studio for you. Yess offers traditional yoga classes that honor the traditions and history of the practice. Don't get me wrong, some of the classes are definitely a workout but, you're not gonna get yoga with weights or hot yoga here. Just pranayama and asana, baby!

I first discovered Yess at the Mill City Famers Market summer market yoga several years ago. I immediately knew that the classes offered by Yess felt different than that offered by any of the other studios that summer, and different from any classes I had ever attended. Yess Yoga is the foundation of my feelings of home in Minneapolis -- I love teaching and practicing here. Lucia and this studio encourage you to be your whole self, always. I've walked in the doors with eyes full of tears and other days with belly-aching laughter. I've practiced yoga here in states of grief, joy, loneliness, and inspiration. In these gem-stone lined studio walls, I've grown as a teacher, a student, a friend, and learned what it means to be a part of an authentically loving and generous community. This studio shares movement practices that are responsive to the needs of Minneapolis residents and to the state of the world. We practice yoga and somatics for the purpose of embodying true connection, belonging, and body sovereignty, and for uplifting those essential elements of life everywhere we go.

I love Yess Yoga! The studio itself is beautiful, the instructors are intuitive and welcoming, and the community is real. I feel grounded when I walk in the door.

The weekly class schedule has something for everyone whether you are feeling high or low energy, or simply need a place to safely connect to your body.

I moved to Minneapolis last year, and a huge part of why I now feel at home here is because of Yess. The first time I visited the studio, I saw the one million plants and the "This is a Body Positive Space" poster in the bathroom and I knew I was in the right place.

I have made friends and learned a lot through classes and training weekends, and now, as an instructor, my feeling of connection to the beautiful community at Yess has deepened even more. Thank you, Lucia, for creating such a unique place to practice and teach.

I first came to Yess Yoga because of the location and stayed for the community. Every class or Teacher Training module I have attended has been welcoming and just what I needed at the time. I really liked the way Lucia taught Vinyasa and how in the teacher training she encouraged me to find my own voice. I also took Astrology and Tarot with Andrea, and am still amazed with the amount of knowledge she has. Most recently I finished the Mudra and Mantra module and have enjoyed adding them to my own practice. I highly recommend taking any of the modules or classes at Yess! I love this studio to pieces. To be perfectly honest, I used to have such negative biases about how hipster dipster I saw yoga to be. I came from a history of powerlifting and weight training in the gym. I still had similar skepticism when I began attending CorePower classes in my area, but wanted to keep an open mind and desperately needed an activity that got me moving and set me up for an optimistic day.

When I started attending this studio, I changed my tune quickly and began looking forward to every class I was able to attend. The space is welcoming, with many windows, no mirrors in sight (to stare at all class wondering if you’re moving “correctly”), and a jungle of plants in both studio spaces. I can also appreciate the library of books on the first level delving into the culture of yoga, Buddhism and self-awareness. I’m not really sure if the books are available to buy or rent or what, but I can appreciate the importance placed on expanding your knowledge.

I feel that this studio and its instructors do a great job of honoring the original practice of yoga and including not only an opportunity to really understand your body and its needs/capabilities but also incorporating themes of mindfulness and self-improvement that you can take with you for the rest of your day.

I live in Minnetonka and generally travel to this studio 2-3x a week. I’d find something closer, but I really don’t want to now that I know what I’d be missing at Yess, *shrug*.

I walked past Yess Yoga one day after a difficult experience in a studio I had been frequenting and in general a difficult time in my life. I quickly learned that I had stumbled into a vibrant and supportive community, meeting a lot of cool people. I also realized I had been practicing yoga for 5 years within certain boundaries that were not benefiting me in the ways it once had. I dove into the asana practice of Yin, which helped so much with physical tension, stress and mental awareness. Going through the 200 hr yoga teacher training highlights so many techniques and tools, which could lead you to a life-time of study. I am so proud of the new studio and forever home, and I look forward to seeing it alive and vibrant for decades to come.

I don’t even know where to begin. I first heard about Yess through an Instagram give away and then decided to try it out. Their classes were inclusive to all body types and relaxing. Yoga for me at times has been stressful when I feel a lot of pressure to be flexible and be able to do all the poses. However, here they encourage you and actually show you what to do and give modifications. Big draw for me was their teacher training. So previous to taking my first Yess class I had been practicing at another studio and doing YouTube Yoga for 2+ years. I was really wanting to teach yoga and make it accessible for all so, I started looking at programs and I could not find one that was affordable nor did it certify me in the way that I wanted until Yess. Yess is intentional about providing you the tools and by the end I will be certified in three different styles (Vinyasa/Yin/Restorative) I’ll be finished and full 200 RYT Certified by the end of the Fall. I can’t say enough how much love and respect that I have for this studio. All the teachers are simply one of a kind and are so amazing. Yess is a GEM of a studio!

Yess Yoga is a community gem in a class of its own. Through my involvement with Yess studio over the years, I not only have practiced numerous styles of yoga with some of the most gifted and inspired teachers in Minneapolis, but have also developed cherished connections with dozens of Yess students, teachers, and friends. While upholding its community values of diversity, inclusion, body positivity, and social justice, the approach of Yess is always one of sweetness and celebration, which is a breath of fresh air for activists and politically minded community members. The yoga teacher training at Yess is also highly unique, with its rare emphasis on authenticity and intuition, qualities that have been invaluable for me as I've gone on to become a yoga teacher in my own community. I wouldn't trade my experience in the 200-hour RYT training at Yess for anything. It was truly life-changing. Lastly, I just so value some of the unique modalities and cultural offerings that Yess features. This is a studio that honors and shares the ancient practices of astrology, tarot, and plant medicine, to name a few, offerings that I simply do not find at other yoga studios in the metro area. I will always value my connection to Yess Yoga, a studio that truly fosters connection, growth, healing, and joy. Cannot recommend Yess highly enough!

Literally one of my most favorite places on this planet! Yess Yoga has absolutely changed my life. I always knew I wanted to practice yoga, but spent years putting it off out of fear. I finally came to Yess about two years ago, as a beginner, and Anna's yin class kept me coming back week after week. I loved Yess so much that I took their Yoga Teacher Training last summer and it was the best decision I've ever made for myself. I've grown deeper, richer, and wiser thanks to this warm, loving, and accepting community.

Took a class while visiting Minneapolis for work. Lovely class and very friendly people.
I lost an earring which held great sentimental value for me and while not sure where I lost it, I reach out to Yess yoga and lo and behold, they found it and were kind enough to mail it to me! You guys rock!! Thank you 🙏.
Namaste!

The Yin instructor spent 40 minutes of the 75 minute class talking about conspiracy theories and bunk science. It was so distracting and not relaxing.

She said our souls previously existed in another plane. Only the strongest souls were chosen to live on Earth. The reason we have tension is because our 3D bodies underwent compression when entering the Earth's atmosphere. If we live our lives with purpose then we can release that discord and tension. She said this will allow us to fulfill our destinies.

She also tried to talk about biology but had a complete misunderstanding of the subject. She said that our cells die if we don't use them. Also, if we used all of our bodies we wouldn't get arthritis. This was offensive b/c I have a family member with a disease that causes arthritis.

If you have any background in science or possess common sense you'll find the Yin class incredibly frustrating.

The yoga classes were ok. I wanted to attend meditative yin classes which are tough to find. However, after I had visited a few times - twice in the promotional period (at the time, $10 for a week of classes) and once after at the $17 drop in rate, the owner sent me an email which at best stated that I had used their new student discount three times and it was not intended to be used that way (I had definitely not, my name is pretty common even in the twin cities so it's entirely possible there was a mixup on the studio's part). At worst, it sounded pretty accusatory - and frankly if staff were unclear on the promotional rules, I would think that's a conversation for the staff not the customer, never mind the fact that it was incorrect. I won't be going back, I didn't find that email exchange to be pleasant or professional.

This studio really has a niche in the warm atmosphere it creates. It is very much centered on your practice, and it remains very lighthearted and fun. At the start of each class the instructor asks for any requests. Even though I have only done one type of yoga at the studio it has never felt like a cookie cutter practice. I would highly recommend!

Lucia is the kindest, most patient instructor I've yet to encounter in my yoga practice. She never points out your error in front of other students, but will gently reposition you in the correct pose. She pays attention to small details, for example she uses essential oils in her eye pillows for the last relaxing pose of the lesson. I also love her class schedule. There is a time that can work for anyone!

Yess Yoga is the first studio where I have taken the leap and purchased a full year pass, it is that good. There are a ton of class time options, meaning I really have no excuse not to get there a couple of times a week. They are beginning to offer a wider variety of classes (Yin! Yay!!) and the community that comes together in the space is amazing. That is all without even mentioning the thoughtful instruction and hands on adjustments....I would not hesitate to recommend Yess Yoga to anyone!

As a busy new mom looking to return to the practice of yoga, Yess Yoga has been the perfect place for me. Lucia and all of the other instructors foster an encouraging and "judgement free" environment that makes beginners and those who are a bit rusty and out of practice (like myself) feel welcome and at ease. At the same time, during each class, students are offered a number of variations in each pose that allows both new and experienced yogis to continue feeling challenged as their practice and skill improve. In a nutshell, if you're looking for an easygoing, open environment to get away for a brief "moment of zen" Yess Yoga is definitely the studio for you.

Lucia Yess is an warm, intuitive and encouraging leader. She tailors each practice to those present, teaching easier and more challenging modifications throughout each class. I have been able to have fun, learn new poses and expand my practice exponentially since I started attending classes at Yess Yoga.

I love Yess Yoga because of the sense of community there. I always make sure to build in time after class to chat with Lucia and my other classmates. She's created a great space for any level of yogi looking for relaxation, motivation or a laugh.

I have practiced yoga at a number of yoga studios over the years (thanks to the ever-rotating selection offered through Groupon), but always left when my time was up and didn't return to the studio du jour. Yess Yoga is the first studio that I have truly fallen in love with - and have been practicing there consistently since my Groupon ended. The teachers are warm and welcoming and knowledgeable, all bringing their own unique approaches to each class...and they honestly want to get to know each student who comes to class. The studio itself is bright and cheerful, simple, uncluttered, and unpretentious. Lucia encourages each student to focus on their own individual practice, learn how to listen to their body, practice mindfulness, and grow in self-love. Yess Yoga is truly a gem of a yoga studio, and I cannot recommend it enough to any yogi, beginner or advanced.

The classes are fun, as challenging as you want them to be, and in an awesome, unpretentious location. The studio is a community of positivity, openness, and inspiring people. You will leave feeling fresh, light and loved.
