Very difficult to get clay courts— we have to “cheat” the system on the 4 day rule. There are only five clay courts and three of which we have to fight with the men and women. There must be a better way. The ball machine should not be used on court five. that’s one person on the ball machine, which could have four paying Members on it
there are all the Pickleball courts being unused during the day that could be used for tennis courts
My team plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Clay courts and then we go to Pickleball courts and no one is playing on the Pickleball courts
And now our JLTA cannot play out of The club because there aren’t enough courts
I don’t understand

I absolutely love working out at The Club at the Township! The facility is clean, well-maintained. Tony makes the best protein shakes! A special shout‑out to my personal trainer, Lipton—he’s amazing! His workouts are challenging yet fun, and he always keeps me motivated and focused on my goals. I feel stronger, more energized, and supported every time I train with him.

The Club at Township is hands down the best gym in Madison! Clean, modern, and welcoming with top-notch equipment, great group classes, and spa-like locker rooms. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere feels more like a luxury resort than a gym. The pool, café, and overall vibe make working out something to look forward to. Highly recommend

Best Gym Experience I've Ever Had!
I've been to a lot of gyms over the years, but this place is truly next level. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcome and supported—they’re friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. Whether you’re new to working out or a seasoned athlete, they treat everyone with respect and encouragement.
The equipment is top of the line—everything is clean, modern, and well-maintained. There’s never a long wait for machines, and there's a great variety for strength training, cardio, and functional fitness.
And the amenities? Incredible. The pool is a huge bonus—spacious, clean, and perfect for laps or just unwinding after a workout. Locker rooms are spotless, and the sauna and showers are a nice touch that make the whole experience feel more like a wellness retreat than just a gym.
If you're looking for a gym that has it all, this is the one. Highly recommend!

I've been going here for a few months now, and I honestly can't say enough good things. The staff are incredible—friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help or offer a quick tip if you need it. They make the whole environment welcoming and motivating, whether you're a beginner or a regular.
This gym really feels like a community. It’s the kind of place where you look forward to your workouts. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a positive, supportive, and well-rounded fitness experience!

I can’t say enough great things about this gym—hands down one of the best fitness facilities I’ve ever been to! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean, modern, and well-organized everything is.
The gym equipment is top-notch and clearly well-maintained. Whether you're lifting, doing cardio, or stretching, everything you need is here and in perfect condition. I never have to wait for a machine, and the layout makes it easy to move between workouts.
One of my favorite parts? The tennis court! It's a rare and awesome bonus that sets this gym apart. It’s well-kept, and it’s great to have the option to get in a match after a workout or on the weekends.
And the sauna... wow. It’s clean, relaxing, and the perfect way to recover after a tough session. You can tell the management cares about the full wellness experience, not just the workout.
Overall, this gym is a gem. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a serious focus on both fitness and recovery. Highly recommended!

As someone with over a decade of military experience and a deep, ongoing commitment to physical fitness, I take pride in using gym equipment safely, effectively, and with intention. During a recent workout, I was using the leg thrust machine—something I’ve incorporated into my training routine for years—when a personal trainer approached me, stating that the machine was "excessively loud" and that I needed to adjust the tension.
He mentioned that another gym patron had voiced a concern, and while I understand that staff may feel obligated to respond to member feedback, I couldn’t help but feel that this situation was handled with a clear lack of balance or context. It felt like my presence and experience were discounted in favor of appeasing someone else—possibly because of how they presented themselves or who they appeared to be. It’s a feeling I believe many people like me have encountered before: when your expertise and intent are overlooked, not because of what you’re doing, but because of who’s doing the complaining.
The machine was not excessively loud, nor was my use of it inappropriate. I was focused, controlled, and well within the norms of a serious workout. But instead of support or understanding, I was publicly corrected, which not only disrupted my workout but left me feeling disrespected and unfairly targeted.
A gym should be a place where all members feel equally valued—where dedication and effort are respected, not policed. I didn’t feel that here. And while I didn’t want to cancel my membership, I ultimately did, because I refuse to train in an environment where my discipline is met with scrutiny instead of support.
I sincerely hope the trainer and gym staff reflect on this—not just to reconsider how they handle complaints, but to ensure all members, regardless of who they are or how they look, are given the same respect and consideration.

Termination is a scam. As other reviewers have posted.
I thought the 30 day cancellation was a hassle considering they billed me for another month. Send me a freeze form in September 2020. I spoke with the employee over the phone (I was already moved out) and told me to get that filled out and they’d fix it.
Just realized they never did that and started charging me in Jan ‘21 again. Fast forward now, when I just realized this, and the manager is very nonchalant about it. We moved out of state and he said that they have ppl do that and unless I have proof of termination, I won’t get a refund.
So too bad to loss of $200 monthly fee past 8 months. Just be VERY careful with them and get everything in writing AND keep it saved forever I guess. In all, sounds like a terrible way to do business. Especially when their competitors are much better in literally every aspect. So rather than refer this to my friends in the future, I’d gladly tell them about Healthplex instead.

Scam gym! Called in AND signed a form to terminate our contract since we were moving at the time. They simply froze our account and then proceeded to charge $200/month for 8 months afterwards. Even after calling in to say we don’t want to freeze our account, rather we want to terminate, the employee stated they will take care of it. However it was never taken care of. Spoke with the manager over the phone and the manager did not take us seriously and nor did he offer to refund the money they have been auto-drafting us. He pretty much said “too bad.” Will not be giving our business to them ever again. Healthplex is a much better gym anyways. Just a little heads up to anyone looking to sign up with them. Know what you’re getting yourself into and do your research.

I have been a member off and on for several years. I attend 5x a week to use the equipment. The location is great and convenient. That is the only reason I use this gym. The roof needed to be replaced years ago. When it rains, it pours in the women’s fitness room and group fitness upstairs. The water fountain upstairs hasn’t worked since I first joined. There is deferred maintenance all over the building. The customer service for the full time staff is non existent. I have been over charged going on four months. Each month they say it is correct, and they will reimburse me. Here we are several months down the road, and it’s still wrong.

The swimming lessons provided by Mary Beth Taylor with the support of The Club at the Township is much more than a sport or an extracurricular activity. It is a commitment to community education, health and safety that is available to both members and nonmembers alike.
From 2005 to 2014, there were an average of 10 unintentional, non-boating related drownings EACH DAY. About 1 in every 5 of these was in children 14 years and younger. For every 1 child that dies in a drowning related accident, 5 more children receive Emergency Care for a nonfatal submersion injury. More than 50% of these ER visits result in hospitalization or transfer to a facility that provides ongoing specialized care (as opposed to only 6% admission for other causes of injury). These nonfatal drowning injuries can result in long-term neurological deficits ranging from memory problems and learning deficits to permanent loss of basic functioning or a persistent vegetative state.
As parents, my husband and I have focused on swimming safety in our children each summer since they were 6 months old. Despite the excellent instructors we have had in the past, the children never developed confidence, independence or true understanding of water safety until we were able to reinforce what they learned through year round swimming.
Despite parents’ best efforts to remain alert and attentive when around water and to teach their children water safety, accidents continue to occur. Therefore, we should not become complacent. I would like to offer sincere thanks to Mary Bath Taylor and The Club at the Township for their ongoing commitment to water safety. I would also like to thank every member of The Club that sacrifices by sharing the wonderful indoor swimming facility with my children and every other person who has a desire to learn water safety through swimming lessons at The Club!!!
Sincerely,
Angelle Klar

We have throughly enjoyed our experience with The Club. We have 2 young children who attend childcare and when we walk in the staff knows them by name. The outdoor resort pool is perfect in the summer- we love the zero entry and "big blue slide" as my son calls it. The Club also hosts parties several times a year (Halloween, Christmas, Easter etc.). We always attend and have fun. We enjoy tennis lessons as well. One of the best parts is the indoor pool facility. Our son has been taking swim lessons with Mary Beth for almost 2 years and can swim the entire pool freestyle (he's only 4 years old). I have seen Mary Beth turn children too scared to put their faces in the water into actual swimmers. Because of Mary Beth I can take both kids swimming by myself and know that my son will be safe- it's an amazing peace of mind. I can't wait for Mary Beth to teach my daughter how to swim when she is old enough. Needless to say, I would highly recommend The Club for families.

I appreciate the Club’s commitment to member children by offering a highly successful year round swim program. Both my daughters have learned to love swim under the direction of their coach. One of the reasons we have maintained our family membership is access to superb swim lessons and a summer swim team that focuses on fun, form, speed, and endurance.

The Club is great, and the swimming lesson program run by Coach Mary Beth Taylor for The Club is excellent. I am so impressed by the technique and form my two girls have learned in just a few months with Coach Taylor, thanks to her rapport with her students and ability to keep them focused and excited to learn. The kids can't wait to swim on The Club's swim team this summer.

“The kid swim teacher” as someone referred to her earlier, is, MaryBeth Taylor. She is the swim instructor for kids learning to swim so that they may be safe in and around water and maybe even eventually, swim one day for enjoyment. She loves the kids and has a great heart! We love her! The hours she teaches swimming lessons, are posted and not only that, are granted to her by the Club. Sometimes things come up and a schedule may change, but all you need is ask someone. I have never had a bad experience with her or the Club and I am not even a member! Keep on doing your thing MB!!!

We have have been members at the Club for over 4 years. My wife and I attend at least three to four times a week. We have three small children and are especially grateful for the wonderful childcare they offer. They also have a Fantastic swim team and coach. All of our kids have become adept swimmers and one has now joined a year round swim team because of his abilities. It is wonderful they can have lessons while we work out!

This facility is top notch for swimming and especially swim lessons! They are fortunate to have Mary Beth Taylor as their instructor. She provides a valuable service for our children. This is our second year getting lessons in the indoor pool. Lessons are planned out and posted months in advance so that everyone is informed. I can’t thank Mary Beth enough for turning my child into a swimmer after not even putting his face in the water 3 years ago. This facility is a pleasure!

Joined the club to swim in the evenings. Unfortunately in the summer the outside pool is filled with trash, broken toys and Band-Aids. There was one that was stuck to the wall for over 2 weeks and no one did anything about it. We complained were told that this information would be passed along to the manager...and nothing was done. In the colder months you have to deal with a very load and rude kid swim teacher. Even though the swim class schedules are not posted on the door or anywhere else in the facility, this "lovely" lady has no problem kicking you out of the pool area if you even think about getting in. I regret joining and would much rather be part of a fitness club that meets the needs of all their members young and old.

I’ve been a member at this facility for a year! However, since the assistant manager, karen, has come along my experience at this facility has not been pleasant! She refuses to let me speak with the manager and refuses to send proper documents to downgrade my membership! Each time I’ve called to speak with the manager she adamantly advises, “I’m

Per Karen, she doesn’t know when the manager comes in because “she makes her own schedule!” I’m moving on to The Club Flowood!

As a member for 16 months, I found the equipment to be up to date, the facilities clean, and the staff friendly and welcoming. However, it is a front. All this entity cares about is money, not their customers that keep them in business. They have multiple TV’s that constantly bombard you with pointless Generation Active advertisements, which the Club probably doesn’t do out of the goodness of their hearts or because they feel passionately about Generation Active’s mission, but rather because GA pays the club money. GA advertising is not a thing at the St. Dominic Club but it is at the Township.
Beware of their 30 day cancellation process, which forces you to pay for another month, regardless of how long you have been there or if you want to pay for another month. I paid for month X on the 5th of X. On the 27th of X, I notified them of my intent to cancel, but due the cancellation policy, I am forced to pay for month Y. Thanks to the cancellation policy The Club at Township is $100 better off. Consider doing this for every customer that terminates their membership and you're significantly better off. There may be some reason to justify this policy but they should make a drastic effort to bring awareness to this policy, so the customers are not surprised by this and can have their membership canceled when they want it canceled. In short, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
