I just walked in to this place. Mike was here and gave me the grand tour. They have outdoor equipment, your traditional cardio and weight machines, and free weights available. They offer a veterans discount, which comes out to be about 20%. I am here on a Friday after work, and there is hardly anyone here at this time (5pm), which I enjoy. They also offer 24/7 access. Good vibes here. Helpful staff. 5 stars!! Mike also offered a smoothie and made it himself. It was pretty damn good.

One of the best family owned gyms in the area. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The owners are the same and are very welcoming. Many St. Louis Gyms claim they are "the Mecca," continually force they are "the best" down your throat. American Muscle is not at all like that! There is a wide demographic of members, from beginners to those that have been competing for years. They have a couple of features that set the far apart from any gym in St. Louis. First, each location (Oakville and House Springs) have a whole outdoor gym area which gives the true Venice Beach Vibe. Further, their Oakville location has a well put together posing room and an in house chiropractor. The entire setup, vibe, and services offered sets this gym far apart from any in the area. Others claim they are the "MIDWEST MECCA," but are far from what these gyms offer and the ACCEPTING enviroment/culture these gyms have built. There has been confirmation of a third location coming soon. American Muscle is THE ONLY and I mean ONLY MIDWEST MECCA!!!! So if you tired of the corprate overcrowded gyms and want a change, you should definetley come here. Members respect one another and are considerate of each other. I truly wish I had discovered this gym when it first opened about two years ago—it would have saved me a lot of frustration. After trying several gyms throughout South County, the city, and Downtown, I found that many fell short in terms of cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and overall atmosphere.

Most recently, I canceled my membership with Xist Gym due to the poor conditions: rusting and deteriorating equipment, unsanitary locker rooms, outdated music, and a general lack of attention to customer feedback. While I’m a strong supporter of local businesses, when profit is prioritized over quality and member concerns go unheard, it becomes clear it’s time to move on.

By chance, I overheard one of my clients mention this gym, and I’m so glad I followed up. After sending a quick email and visiting the location, I felt immediately at home the moment I pulled into the parking lot. The gym has a distinct military feel, which resonates with me as someone from a military family. I immediately felt at home!

It’s open 24 hours for members, impeccably clean, and well-equipped, particularly for bodybuilders, which is a major plus for me. As a busy massage therapist & a bodybuilder myself, being able to start my day early here is a huge advantage.

The sauna setup is also unique. Rather than being located in the locker rooms, it’s positioned in a private corner on the gym floor. It’s different, but it works! The overall atmosphere is welcoming and motivating not at all like the commercial chain gyms, which I find refreshing.

This space reminds me of a more compact version of House of Pain, which is exactly what South County has been needing. I’m genuinely grateful to the owners for creating something special here.

I’ve only been a member for four days, so it’s still early, but I’m hopeful. I also sincerely hope the staff are being paid well. A fairly compensated team is essential for maintaining both the gym’s cleanliness and the positive energy that members experience. I’ve seen morale and standards drop quickly at other gyms when staff feel undervalued.

Even though American Muscle is about a 30-minute drive for me—with plenty of other gyms along the way—it's absolutely worth the trip. I don’t go all the time, but every time I do, I’m reminded why I make the drive. The equipment is top-notch, the gym is always clean, and the vibe is focused and motivating without being overwhelming.

One of the best features is their outdoor gym, which really shines during the spring and summer months. It's May right now and the weather has been perfect—training outside adds a unique and energizing experience that you just don't get at other gyms.

The crowd is never too busy, but there's always just enough energy to stay motivated. Plus, the staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

I have been a member of American Muscle for just a couple months and absolutely love my experience thus far. This gym has it all! From the abundant amounts of cardio equipment, including treadmills, stair master machines, and ellipticals, to free weights ranging in weight from 5-pounds to over 100-pounds. The gym is easily accessed and is open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, with members needing to access via a pass. I haven't even been able to utilize the outdoor machines yet, but i cannot wait. Friendly staff as well as members alike. As a person who routinely had to have group classes to be instructed what to do, now I am stepping out by myself and initially I was intimidated and still am with certain machines but when you show at 3:30am who cares :) Its just you and the weights .

This is a wonderful gym with a very friendly atmosphere, helpful people and good trainers.

They are part of silver sneakers in reference to memberships. I do wish in the future things take time to evolve with new businesses that they would have more silver sneaker classes. As of January 25th, 2024 is still pretty much the same A lot of the specialized training just means getting a person cost so very much at least for a lot of the people that used to go there and they do have one person that does classes every Wednesday at 10:00 and then they have one other trainer that does later classes but a lot of us more mature. Folks don't want to go out late at night but that's not their fault and everything is so expensive. If you want to try things you used to do it's they used to have yoga but there's a third party yoga where we used to have the silver sneaker classes at. And oh my gosh that's way out of my league but there's people that can afford it so I'm happy for them. That's how come I haven't been back for a very long time. There's a gym or I live at that is very very good. They remodel it and add it to new equipment.

But in reality I'd really like to have a trainer for just a few months to get me started on how my body is at this time but can't afford it. So I haven't been back. Not very many people that go there. At least the times I've went by is pretty empty.
I haven't been back for a while. I just wish they had actually like yoga classes that you didn't have to go get a loan for and I wish they had actually silver sneaker classes that could kind of loosen you up and then maybe go work out when you're ready. Good people. Good trainers. Just need another faction for silver sneakers so they could just ease into it and then go do what they got to do. But anyway no big deal. Things are just different. After being a member of a large commercial gym for the past several years, I was ready to get away from the hordes of IG 20 somethings who were literally spending an hour on the only leg press available. I've been there for a week and love it. All types of people who are just working out and not hogging equipment. Staff are friendly and people are chill. I'd recommend this gym for anyone who is serious about getting stronger.

Five stars in every category. Clean. Enough equipment both weights and cardio. Also my daughter works with Brandon for Boxing and has accelerated her skills and conditioning more than ANY other coach she's had over the past several years. The owner of this gym is a LEGIT Amercian patriot and it shows in this gym. Pride, fair pricing, great staff and coaches. This is the right gym for everyone!!!!

American Muscle is a great place to workout for anyone! I feel like American Muscle gets a bad rep for a lot of people because people think it’s just a body builders gym or the people can be intimidating. But in reality the staff is great and friendly, there are people of all ages that work out here, and eveyone is very nice and friendly and are willing to help out whenever. I’m a college student and it’s the perfect place to workout coming home for the summer because it’s never very busy and it has all the equipment you could need from free weights to machines/ cardio machines (treadmills.. etc). I love working out here and you should to!

I’m so happy I found this gym. My step sister and brother-in-law are members here. I am from STL but live in San Diego now. I have been desperate for a gym to go to while I am in town visiting family which is often. I pay the day fee and it’s so worth it. I’m so happy I have an amazing option to be able to keep up with my training when I am here. I love this gym. Some people spend money on Starbucks everyday and I spend that on popping in here for a pump instead while I’m in town and I love that they give me the option! The gym is never too crowded and that is rare! I wish my gym in San Diego was like that so I didn’t have to constantly wait for machines. I also love the being able to grab a protein shake quick after and a sauna sesh. Staff is great vibes and happy to share some lifting tips with you while you chug down your protein. Complete gym with friendly staff. I was sold in signing up due to all the state of the art plate loading hammer strength equipment. Specially all the unique leg training equipment that I have never seen before. Great gym for a serious workout or just for health improvement purposes.

American Muscle - Oakville is a top-notch gym! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The gym has a variety of different weight machines and dumbells. My favorite is that they have the in-between weights for the dumbells (12.5lb, 17.5lb, and 22.5lb). They also have made to order smoothies and I love the patriotism and support for the first responders.

It’s always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It’s never filled with annoying gym bros like some other places. The equipment is always working and if something does break, it gets fixed right away. They have everything you’d need in a gym - including a sauna and a protein shake bar! Can’t recommend the place enough.

This gym could have potential if it were managed better. Management seems to not care about what the members of the gym want. Instead, they implemented a stripping pole which I feel is inappropriate. Until they get new management, I would avoid this gym! Not worth it.
