Very nice course in Wentzville with an amazing driving range with a sand trap to chip out of!

John or Robert( very old guy), in the pro shop lacks professionalism greatly. When we first arrived he was taking a personal call and kept us waiting. While we were trying to finish before dark he approached us and started yelling saying did you not get the memo I sent you. Nothing was sent or on our screen on the cart. He then wanted to be a funny guy and say “cant you guys read?” He did not approach us with any respect and for some reason must be having a bad day at home. Not sure how he has a job at his age and pathetic attitude.

Soooo slow!!!!! Insanely slow. Took 5 hours and 48 minutes to finish 18. No marshal in sight, nobody at the course cares.

This isn’t a new problem. It’s been this way for years now.

STOP SCHEDULING 5 MINUTE TEE TIMES. Five groups on a single par 5 and it’s only the second hole is unreal. This course has been a chronic over booker for years. Care very little for the experience of the individual and just focus on ramming as many people out there as possible.

Extremely overbooked and overpriced. These are only holes 8 and 9 but the entire course looked like this. You are better off finding a cheaper course anywhere else and you’re guaranteed to have a better experience. The employees in the pro shop are incredibly rude and they don’t care if it takes you 6+ hours to play a round.

Course is nice. However, whoever is booking the tee times needs to figure it out. Booking tee times to close to each other is causing 6 hour rounds

Overpriced and overbooked. Absolutely the worst golf experience I’ve had in my 10 years and I will not be back. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. The course is really not taken care of for how much they charge. Your best bet is to go anywhere else.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Bear Creek. The pro shop was not welcoming at all (Robert).

There was a tournament that was finishing up, and Robert in the pro shop told me to “just find a cart”. When I went out to the cart area, all the carts were from the tournament and had beer, cans, trash, etc.

There is no starter or ranger on the course and it took almost 2 hours and 40 minutes to play nine holes.

The course is in rough shape and has really become a place where there’s only tournaments. Bear Creek has gone downhill substantially over the last few years.

If you want to wait to hit every shot & be out there for 6 hours, this is the spot. Couldn't pay ME the $70 to play here again.

Showed up to 7:03 am tee time to find out that they have a tournament scheduled to shotgun start at 7:30am. No warning when booking the tee time. I already drove out to the course so wasn’t just going to go back home. Gave us a 5 hole buffer and had the first shotgun group on 5. We had a 2some and caught them before they even teed off on 5. The pro shop guy responded to me after the and said if you had your other 2 guys you wouldn’t have caught them that early. Which I completely understand but we would have caught them by hole 7, 8, or 9. we didn’t make the turn until 9:30. We ended up skipping hole 15 because we noticed nobody was on 16 or 17 when driving back to our cars. Played 16, 17 and 18 and finished by 12. When leaving the parking lot the group that we were behind was on 16 green still. If we would have continued to play behind them it would have been a 6 hour round. After the round I asked the proshop why they even offer tee times before the tournament and he responded “well if you would have had 4 people you wouldn’t have caught them so early”. I get that but at the same time we would have caught them eventually and would still be out on the course waiting. My biggest complaint is why even offer those tee times knowing that you have 2 shotgun start tournaments that day.

Probably gonna get a reply from the owner but here it goes. Tee'd off at 12:30. Left the parking lot at 5:45. They schedule tee times in 9 minute increments but ask for 4.5 hours of pace of play. 4.5 hour pace of play, is 15 minutes a hole. So inherently, the course will be backed up after the 4th or 5th tee time of the day. The ranger came through multiple times but pace of play never changed. Had a group with back to back tee times for a 6 man group ahead of us. They had forgotten their cell phone on hole 8. Tee'd off on hole 9. Made it up to their approach shot, turned around searching for their cell phone then returned after our tee shot, cutting us off. While finishing the hole off driving around the fringe resulting in their cart shutting off. Just disappointed in the a round of golf quickly turning into a full day activity.

I’m not usually one to complain but I went golfing recently and there was a pro shop employee who was beyond rude and very impatient. His name tag read “Robert” and I made sure to write it down. On my way to return my cart, the same man was yelling, causing a ruckus down by the cart return, yelling at some teenagers working. Gorgeous course, however I’m less than thrilled at “Robert”’s pro shop service. I would love to buy a sweater when he’s not working though!!

I have never left a google review for a golf course in my 20 years of playing. Never play this course the clubhouse is very unhelpful and unsympathetic. It is a beautiful course but they overbooked it letting 6 somes play in front of us even though they said they had a ranger out. 11 holes in 3 hours was the pace and was completely avoidable after we left early because they wouldn’t refund our money or fix the pace. They were extremely rude and unhelpful when we asked to play through 10 he asked US THE GOLFERS what 11 looked like which is absurd he should know being an employee at the course not me.

Said they wouldn’t refund us because it was booked via golf now and refused to address the slow rate of play and even if it’s booked via golf now they still own the course and should have addressed it properly.

This is a wonderful wedding venue! The outdoor Arbor is a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony. The facilities inside for the reception were very nice, clean, and food was very good. With a well stocked bar and ample service staff, my son-in-law and daughter's wedding went great. The grounds offer locations for pictures and beautiful views. This was their second choice of venue after their first choice was lost in a fire. We were all pleased we found this beautiful wedding venue.

Took too long to play, course was overbooked. Nothing worse than sitting around with multiple groups waiting for your turn on every tee box. Stopped at the clubhouse at the turn, individual running the pro shop was shuffling through some papers and did not look up to acknowledge us one time. Not even “I’ll be right with you”. It’s like we weren’t standing there. After a few minutes we left and finished our round.

Note to owner: Reservation was not in my name, doesn’t mean I didn’t play at your course or experience the aforementioned.

Would leave a 0 star if i could. Have hated this course for years due to them booking tee times 5 minutes apart. You can always expect at minimum a 5 hour round here. Finally decided to give it a shot today, and when i got here there were signs saying the greens were aerated. Not one posting informing customers of this prior to arriving. I checked both facebook and their website. To top it off i’ll leave a picture of the cart they gave me (keep in mind i am only the third tee time of the day)

This is an enjoyable course layout and it is typically well maintained. But the pace of play is so horrendous it takes any joy away from the round. It’s a continuous problem as well, not a one off thing. When your starter is allowing players late for their tee time to head on out and the group in front is already off the green and onto the second hole before 2 players have even hit their tee shots and the starter says “there’s nothing I can do” when questioned about it, it shows the lack of consideration for pace of play course staff has. 5 1/2 hour rounds should not be accepted.

Do not offer public tee times at 2:30pm on a Saturday when you are having a sponsored work outing or tournament teeing off within the hour or so prior. Started backing up on hole 3 and required a 15 min wait or more on every hole for the entirety of the round. Worse pace of play with no marshal assisting. Got off the course at 8pm. 5.5 hour round in 95+ degree weather. Course was definitely over booked.

730 am tee time and group in front playing the tips and unable to play to the yardage. A 6 hour round is what happened. Waiting 10-20 min at every tee box for guys in jeans who obviously haven’t played much golf to take on a 7,000 yard course. No Marshall outside of 1. Course was in decent shape but fact they allow this is concerning. Do better Bear Creek

Our experience with Bear Creek was absolutely phenomenal! From the start, the team proved to be incredibly helpful, accommodating every request with utmost professionalism. The communication was outstanding, and their support throughout the planning process was invaluable. The venue itself is nothing short of gorgeous, providing a stunning backdrop for our special day. We truly enjoyed working with Fay and Kelly. Fay truly saw my vision for the day, and helped immensely with each step. Any concerns were immediately addressed, and her advice and encouragement were appreciated beyond belief. As a Bride, I truly felt cared for. From signature drinks, to seating charts, and decorating, each aspect was important to both Fay and Kelly. It was a joy to have her throughout this time.

What truly set them apart was the exceptional service. The entire staff, from the planning team to the chef, went above and beyond to make our wedding reception perfect. The food was not only incredible but the chef worked tirelessly to accommodate any dietary concerns, ensuring every guest was delighted. The venue was spotless, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail by the staff.

Choosing Bear Creek was the best decision we made for our wedding. They created an atmosphere of warmth, kindness, and perfection that made our day truly unforgettable. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire team for making our dreams a reality!

Idk what starts to put this. It's not 5 and it's not 1. The course itself is nice and fairly well kept (the greens were a bit over sanded and the tee boxes were a bit over grown but hey) it has a cool layout especially for the price. The issue is it took 5.5 hours. Pace of play, like every other review, was horrid. Even talked to the Marshal and he said this was slow but standard is 5 hours.

So unsatisfied customers will post honest reviews and the Bear Creek management will actually clap back in the comments and turn the blame on them? And manipulate the situation and facts to sound like they were the ones in the right, instead of owning up to well-known shortcomings and putting in action plans to address them?? Extremely unprofessional. I suggest not over-booking the course, or be able to face the music of those who have valid complaints. How hard is it to hire another marshal or two to enforce basic rules and pace of play? Indeed and LinkedIn exist. Hope that helps.

While the course isn’t a bad course I’m not going to act like it’s in great condition. Do not book a tee time on days that have league play. You will be forced to play back or front 9 twice we had a tee time of 339pm and we’re on the course until 850pm only through 14 holes. Inexperienced golfers hitting 4 balls off the tee each, people’s pace of play was so slow I could have went home ate lunch and came back and might have been able to finally tee off. Very unhappy. Not an enjoyable round of golf by any means hope this helps people considering playing here

DON'T PLAY HERE: It's rare that I share a poor review, as I'm not that kind of person, but the pace of play at Bear Creek is miserable and the Course Marshall is likely the problem. I golf often, with my son, almost twice a week, around the STL metro area, and have never encountered slower golf conditions. We were stacked behind a foursome, a twosome and a twosome, and to make matters worse, the Marshall comes up to our foursome and asks us to "pick up the pace" literally while we are stuck looking at folks standing on the green and spent 30 minutes waiting on #3 teebox. The problem was not our foursome, but somewhere far ahead of us, and likely how they set up their groupings or teetimes. Stopped to use restroom and sign says "key is on keychain on golfcart"... It's not... Poor hole signage. Bad experience overall and I should have listened to the other reviews.

Tee boxes were atrocious. Fairways were garbage and flooded as there has been no time spent on drainage. Just another subdivision course to interest home buyers and now that they've sold all the houses little care is given to the golf course. Played behind a fivesome today which made my time on a cold day on the course take forever. The mighty dollar has trumped everything else at Bear creek and the maintenance of the course has been forgotten about.

Course not it the best shape, too many golfers and not enough gap between tee times, super slow pace, staff is rude. Played back in September. They told us to be on hole 16 by a certain time to avoid leagues. We were 1 hole behind that due to extremely slow pace. We tried skipping a hole to get ahead of the league and a marshal with a superiority complex chased us down, yelled at us and tried accusing us of sneaking onto the course (seriously). Followed us around with an attitude and told us to go back to the clubhouse. A clubhouse worker, also with an attitude, finally offered a few dollars off a future round. No thanks.

The complaints about slow play at Un-Bearable Creek are warranted. Their 8 minutes between tee times continually result in rounds bordering on 6 hours. While most courses utilize 9 minutes between tee times, Bear Creek Management has been sticking with the 8 minute tee times in order to get that extra almighty buck and cause delays on the course. I quit playing there due to the slow pace of play that Bear Creek never addresses, but still uses excuses to justify the snail pace of rounds there. Judging from some of the comments on STL Area Golfers FB, things haven't changed in regards to the slow rounds.

If you are thinking of having a wedding here DO IT. The wedding coordinator, Rachel, is amazing!!! She is so organized, a great listener, and just made me feel really at ease throughout the whole process. In fact, this WHOLE staff had me blown away.

The gentlemen in the back cooking....his cooking will change your life! You know how wedding food gets a bad rap? NOT with this guy! I have people pleasantly surprised that the food was actually really good and completely exceeded their expectations.

The bartenders were so nice. Our grandmother is in her early 90's and doesn't get around easily. Well the next day I heard from a family member that one of the bartenders had been going to our grandmother and personally waiting on her all night for her drink needs. I cannot tell you how thankful we are for that.

Played this course last year. Nice track. Quit playing here, because this place has a reputation of a horrible booking system. You play a weekend round here. It is known now. Expect 5+ hours. They will book everyone up from 8am on, and you will be waiting. Which is fine. Know what you are getting into. You know what you pay for.
Gave them a shot yesterday. Same thing. Knew what we were getting into. However, Marshall came to our hole on 11 (par 5). There is a par 3 on 12. A typical spot to get hung up on the course with groups waiting to go for it in two, and a par 3 next. Marshall completely unprofessional in asking us to move along stating we are a hole behind. While we are over putts. We comply to rush along to 12. Only to see the group just getting to the green in front of us.
This guy has the nerve to tell us still we are behind. That we should tee off if we can. On a par 3. The lack of feel out of this place is beyond me, and obviously beyond repair.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away. There are plenty of other tracks with better feel in the area.

Against my better judgement, I booked a round here on 6/22. It's the same story it's been for a few years now, great course, I love the layout, but the pace of play is atrocious. After skipping hole #8, there was a massive backup at the turn, so we jumped on the wide open front nine again. Had to skip the last hole due to another backup, 4.5 hours to play 16 holes. They have their tee times too close together, there is no marshal, they make zero effort to manage pace of play, and they have been made well aware of the issue yet nothing changes. Won't be back ever, I play at least once a week.

Course was in decent shape, too bad it took 20 minutes wait between shots on almost every hole because this place just packs golfers in with 3 minutes between tee times. No marshall, nobody giving any concern to pace of play or course management regarding the insane tee time scheduling. Nothing screams "I want to play here again" quite like having to play a 5 hour and 45 minute round on a Tuesday at 11:30 because Bear Creek has ignored this well known issue for such a long time.

Bear Creek is looking great this year. I played on Saturday, June 5th, and the fairways/greens were in really good shape. As always, the staff is exceptional. I'm definitely going back soon!

Pace of play was brutal!!! 1 and a half hours in, we we're waiting on 5th tee box still . Way over booked, no drinking water on the course, and when the beverage cart would come by, the non alcoholic drinks were all warm. Charging for warm water, when drinking stations aren't open???!!!! Not sure I'd book this again, unless it's snowing.

The course was in ok shape. But the fact that it took 3 hours and 15 min to play 9 without the Marshall or any staff actually intervening (and that’s with several groups calling it quits) is nuts. The chaos and high alcohol prices were enough to turn us away and never come back.

Things were going great during the two man senior scramble until we came to hole #1. We had four holes to complete the scramble. When all of a sudden open play groups started showing up at the first tee. One of our players ran them off as to not have them in the middle of our groups slowing down play.
Management probably needs to make an adjustment on the days they have scrambles as to not interfere with play and, or, cause person to person altercations.

The last three times I’ve been out there it has taking me over three hours to play nine holes because they are so backed up. They book their tee times way too close together and don’t do a good job of managing pace of play. There is a lot of disorganization. And the guy that was the starter was very rude.

Friendly staff and a fun, challenging public course. Don't expect Pebble Beach, but it's not a goat track like you'll find at most public courses.

Greens are typically in good shape. There are also a lot of elevated tee boxes, which makes for a fun course to hit the driver.

Do not golf here on the weekend. 5+ hours for a round and we had a tee time of 7:12. They stuff as many people as they can even if it means a bad experience. I mentioned how slow it was and a worker said “that’s bear creek on a weekend”.

For some reason I'd avoided playing this course over the years. I'm not sure quite why, really, though I don't typically go for courses in housing developments. But the usual courses have been feeling stale lately, so I figured I'd finally give Bear Creek a try today for the first time.

What I discovered was one of the most diverse and playable public courses in the St. Louis area. Gary Kern's designs are always fun, yes, but the routing here is one of his best. There are some great risk/reward holes, a variety of terrain, and not a single weak hole on the golf course. Despite my fears, the houses weren't at all obtrusive to the hole corridors. I was shocked and felt a little bit guilty that I'd had such an unwarranted negative impression of this layout. It's simply fantastic from start to finish.

Conditions were adequate but not great from tee to green, although they get the benefit of the doubt after this wet spring. The greens rolled well at slightly above average speed.

I'll definitely be back to play here again.

Played there twice...

Both times :

Slow play starts on hole 2, waited about 10 minutes to tee off each hole. Got better around hole 13. Told Marshall patrolling course, both times he seemed frustrated.

Course overall is in great shape

Staff is friendly

A couple of the greens were aerated and loaded with sand, ball needed off road tires.

Will I play again, only really early

The staff here was very hateful and very mean. Especially the female that was out running with the golf course. Very very unprofessional. I'm a 60 some-odd year old man with cancer I paid $44 to play 18 holes of golf and was harassed and aggravated from the whole 12 to hold 13 by your staff. I was told that they needed my cart because they have a tournament. They overbooked RT times. Not my problem. I paid good money to play at a good golf course. Did not get to finish the game or did not get to enjoy the game because of the staff. I don't play as fast as I used to but we was only in the game 2 hours and on hole 12. I don't think we were doing too bad. I'm sorry if I wasn't fast enough but I do have cancer and my days not always the greatest. Before once I had a halfway decent day thought I could play golf. Not true the staff here is very hateful and very mean. I think and feel that I was taken advantage of with the $44 fees and was not allowed to finish the game. Very poorly managed

Pretty tough course, at least for me. Narrow off the tee box and more water than I care to see but what lowers the rating is the sand traps. Nearly all of them were either muddy or had 3” of water in them. Never seen sand traps that bad, and I’ve played a few bad courses.

Not a friendly course for juniors. Many courses around the area welcome juniors to their course and are excited to see them play. Bear Creek does not, and almost seems like they discourage them to be around. My 14 year old son was told he could not put on the practice green without a paid receipt, this among other similar issues. He used to always go to the driving range and the practice green but does not want to now. It was convenient since we live in the subdivision, but it’s worth it to drive to the other golf course in Wentzville so he keeps playing.

We played there this past weekend and the course condition for what you pay to play there was very poor. I would expect it from lesser courses but not Bear Creek. Sand traps that had little sand in them, basically hitting off dirt in the ones i landed in. There were quite a few of the greens that had lots of sand on them. So much sand that when the ball hit the green from a chip shot sand plashed up on every bounce. Those greens played twice as slow as the other greens. Lots of weeds around many of the greens and tee boxes that were not well kept. I sent a message to Bear Creek themselves to inform them of how disappointed that not only we were but the twosome we were paired with were as well. I got a response that while courteous told me in so many words how wrong I was and to give them another chance. Basically, come out and spend your money here again with no guarantee the issues we had with the conditions of the course will be fixed. I have played heavier used public courses this year like St. Peters that are in much better shape than Bear Creek that cost less to play at. I have played Bear Creek in the past and it was always in great shape so I was highly disappointed in how poor of shape the course is currently in. The staff themselves are very friendly and I have zero complaints about any of them. I hate writing poor reviews but I would spend your money elsewhere.

Clubhouse staff were friendly and efficient.

Grounds keepers were oblivious. They never stopped working, even when taking a shot withing 10 feet of their mowing and bunker work.

For early season, the course was in decent shape. Fairways have come in nicely. Greens we're smooth but slow for how tightly they were mowed. Silver tee boxes still need some time to come in, most were on the bare side or heavily spotted, gold tees we're in beautiful shape. Every bunker our group was in was unplayable, either hard packed or a dusting of "sand" on top.

For a weekday tee time before 10am, the pace of play on the front 9 was ridiculous, 3.25+ hours. Three groups in front of us gave up at the turn and we never caught another group on the back 9.

I'll give Bear Creek a try later in the season, but as the rates go up, the value of the round will need to be a lot higher.

Didn't have the opportunity to play Bear Creek last year, but did have the opportunity recently. Found the course to be in really good condition for this time of year. The biggest upgrade since last time I was there was the care of the sand traps - which were in very good condition. The greens are in great condition but running a little slow because of the amount of rain we have had which isn't unexpected. Fairways have greened up nicely and are well manicured. My overall impression - I liked the course a couple years ago when I played it several times, and found it to be improved since when I last visited. Bear Creek is a good value, nice course and amenities and a friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. I will be back as soon as I have the time to do so.

The golf course itself is very nice. The pace of play and employee lack of competence is painful. Consistently allow groups of 5 and 6 and then put twosomes behind them. Tee off was backed up 20 minutes. Was told that there was a five some in front of us but they are playing a scramble so just call the club house if they slow us down. Tee'd off a 8;04, didn't tee off on the second hole until 8;35 waiting for the five some. Called the club house to let them know that not only were they slow but none of them could hit the fairway. Long story short had to call again because they were slowing game play down. Finally passed the five some at 10 since they stopped in the clubhouse only to run into ANOTHER five some. A total of 6 hours for us, a threesome, to play 18 holes. Turned in the cart and informed them how horrible game play was. Kirk pulled me to the side and decided to get snide with me. I informed him that we were instructed to call the clubhouse if the five some became an issue and we did and nothing was done about it. We've played this course a minimum 18 times the past year and a half but if Kirk is the way Bear Creak treats it's customer, we will not be back. I'm HIGHLY disappointed based on past play at this course. Even the employees were urging us to complain at the clubhouse after we turned our carts in. Kirk was VERY unprofessional and even had to comment "your got your 18 in didn't you?" as we were walking out of the clubhouse, STAY AWAY. Other plans were canceled with my family since game play took so long.

Went to bear Creek a couple of weeks ago. A buddy and me had a tee time. When we paid at the pro shop nothing was mentioned that we were going to be put with three other guys for a 5 some. Took 5 hours and 45 minutes. Paid over 40 dollars, there were no yardage marker out was not a good experience. Was the first and last time I will go there. WIll encourage all my friends not to go there. Your course keeps sending me emails . Like I have stated previously I will not go back to your course . I hade very poor experience and you wouldn't even respond to my last post. I will continue to tell my friends to avoid your course.

Great discounted rates if you like to play in the afternoon. I have played at Bear Creek a few times now and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I think the course is fair for any golfer. I think the greens, fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. The most challenging part of this course is the greens, because the course is pretty open. I believe you will have a good time at Bear Creek!

On Friday 7/11/2014, I paid for 18 holes at Bear Creek and played by myself. it took me three hours to play 9 holes.I stopped after the 9 and I asked in pro shop for a rain check to come some other day, since it was sooo slow playing and he said sure. I went back last Friday, 7/18/2014, and wanted to play the other 9 holes I paid for. The man in pro shop said I would have to pay an additional $8.58. I inquired as to why and he said that I had a credit even though the receipt I had showed "RAIN CHECK". I all of my years of playing golf, I have never had a rain check that was a credit. And that I would have to pay the difference in 9 hole rate. I was flabbergasted. Since I had driven 35 minutes to get there, I paid the $8.58 and played the 9 holes. I sent a letter to the General Manager, KIRK PORTER and even left him a voice mail. As of today, one week later he has not responded. I would not recommend this course for the people in the pro shop were not very friendly and they will rip you off if you get a rain check. Most importantly, the General Manager, KIRK PORTER, did not return my phone call nor respond to my letter. I would recommend that if you pay for 18, play all 18 and don't ask for a rain check for you will only get a credit towards your next round.
