This place is awesome! It is small and friendly… kind of like going to a small town compared to the big city. They have everything you need. -equipment, treadmills, classes, sauna, massage. But the reason why I joined was to avoid having to go on bisphosphonates- Prolia, Boniva, Fosamax... Blue Bicycle has several trainers to work with- I chose the owner, Jan, who was already familiar with the Liftmor trials and knew the protocol that has helped many women in Australia to gain bone to reverse osteoporosis. I have a physician (Mark Hechler- Revelation Health) who is balancing the bioidentical hormones and supplements and Jan taught me the weight training to bring back my bone. After 4 months, the early data looks good… Thanks to Jan and her friendly Blue Bicycle team!!!

So my partner and I signed up for a membership earlier this year. We discovered that we can get a steeply discounted membership through Genesis health club via my job so we canceled April 21st. We were advised at that time since it was less than 30 days for my scheduled payment being due that April 27th would be the last fee processed. When we signed up for the membership, both of our names are on one form. One charge, every month, for a couple. We recently discovered that we were charged for May and June. I just went in and the owner was there. She blamed me because since we had a joint membership, both of our names should have been on the cancellation form. Well, they were on the form when we joined. So why they would not be linked on the same account makes no sense when ONLY ONE charge comes out every month. And HIS name is the one on the checking account.

No apologies, no accountability. I literally called her out on it and nothing. More victim blaming. Just constantly telling me what I should have done. I don't trust that she refunded the May membership fee and will be disputing with the bank. As someone who has managed customer experience departments for years, this is very disappointing coming from the owner of the business.

While we had a great experience working out, I guess you never see someone's true colors until you break up.

EDIT:
WE BOTH WENT IN TOGETHER TO CANCEL. AND WHEN I RETURNED TO FOLLOW UP ON THE APRIL 27TH PAYMENT WE DID NOT REALIZE WAS COMING OUT, I GAVE THE MAN AT THE DESK BOTH OF OUR NAMES. BUT INSTEAD OF TAKING OWNERSHIP FOR HER EMPLOYEES MISTAKES, YOU SEE SHE WANTS TO VICTIM BLAME.

When I cancelled my membership they kept charging my card. Went in to talk with them about it and they immediately told me that I filled out their form incorrectly. I filled it with while their desk person was there. They didn't give me anything to show that I canceled. Luckily I took a picture of the form before I handed it over. I would never do business with them again

I enjoyed trying a cycling/core conditioning class and Pilates style yoga class with the owner, Jan. Owner taught classes tend to be the best! The yoga was not heated, if needing that.

My name is Linda Singer. I am a 77 year old retired Physical Therapist who knows the importance of exercise. At my home, I have all the exercises equipment. However, I began lacking motivation to exercise. Then a friend invited me to join Blue Bicycle to play Pickleball which I really enjoy. So in May of 2023, I joined the gym. But I soon discovered all the other great opportunities that are available here. Jan Schmidt, the owner of Blue Bicycle, has a Team of qualified passionate instructors, including Jan herself! Exercising with other people is very motivating and fun. Thanks so much to the Blue Bicycle Team for inspiring me to exercise regularly again which has changed my life dramatically for the better!

I joined about a month ago. I am pleased with the gym. I do think additional classes would be nice but based on the affordability and price. What they offer is a good deal when comparing to other gyms in the area. I planned for this to be a supplemental gym but I go 4-5 days a week now. It’s helping me feel better. The people are very nice and friendly. The available hours are fair. I do like to get a coffee at Crows after as a treat. Good location!

I like Blue Bicycle because it's a comfortable environment for all - serious weight-lifters, retirees seeking to stay healthy and fit, and everyone in between. It's very spacious, with multiple workout rooms and all the workout equipment you could need. I also like that it's a woman-owned business whose owner (Jan) is friendly and responsive to members' needs. And, membership is easy on your budget. Support Blue Bicycle!!!

This gym has been my go to gym for the past 8 years. It’s expanded to include more equipment and space and checks every box you would need in a local neighborhood gym. Super reasonably affordable compared to past workout places where I was paying over $100 for just to take classes and nothing else. I recommend it to anyone I know in the area. Also added bonus get to see familiar faces.

I joined a few months ago, this place is awesome! There are no frills, and no one is wearing makeup. There’s no annoying pop music playing. I say this as a high compliment, it’s a sanitary dive bar of gyms. Im not self conscious here, everyone is as friendly as you want them to be, my love ersonal trainer Rileighk I cannot say enough positive things about. It’s the Cheers of gyms, right up in Red Bridge. Also, super affordable! I only do the basic membership right now because my focus is with a trainer and not classes, but they do offer super affordable memberships with Pilates, yoga, pickle ball , and some other stuff! Support local!

I love this gym. It's clean, close, ran well and I can always use the equipment without having to wait. Jan the owner is always very cordial and willing to lend a helping hand. Highly recommended for anyone who is afraid to come or beginning their fitness journey.

I highly recommend Blue Bicycle. It's an affordable and friendly place to go for workouts and group classes. The community there is great. It's a diverse mix of ages and fitness levels. It's welcoming and nonpreventions. I worked out at Blue Bicycle for a couple years when I lived in the Red Bridge neighborhood. I've moved out of the area now, but I don't think I'll ever find a place quite like it.

employs anti-mask anti-vax covidiots, there may not be any enforceable mask mandate in KCMO but they can at least require employees and customers to be masked and fully vaxxed

Blue bike staff is welcoming and accommodating. The gym is clean and spacious. The classes are well run. The staff even made sure I was safe when a disgruntled individual thought it was okay to follow me and my child as we were leaving the gym. The gym presents a feeling of family and inclusion.

It seems this business is reporting / deleting bad reviews. Absolutely shameful. I had an initially positive review that sat untouched for years, but now that I've seen their true colours, both my updated review and that of another member that had a negative experience have been removed.
Intimidation and discrimination should not be tolerated.

Since purchasing this and changing over to Blue Bicycle from Benefit, Jan has made great progress in getting this place updated. You can tell she puts a lot of sweat equity into it doing as much as she can herself. This gym continues to be a great bargain considering all the facility and equipment for the money.

Very Bad management. I moved out of city and I called them to close the account. One of the employee told me that I have to pay β€˜1 month’ of amount in advance and I am okay with that. I was shocked to know that I was charged for the next two months too until I checked my statement. Now I came to know that I have to fill a β€˜Cancellation form’ to close my account. Are you serious???!!!!

This is for Blue Bicycle Fitness (formerly Bene-fit Fitness)

The gym is what you expect for 10$ a month, but it is sort of moving in the right direction once they get the right staffing. So far the plans on paper sound really good with the new space, but the equipment hasn't been upgraded yet.

As of now It is not really meant for serious lifters unless you forgo the safety of the right equipment. The evening workers are more worried about getting home early than staying open around people's schedules what ever they may be. I have already brought it up with management, the issue was resolved for a few weeks, but now it has fallen back into the pattern.

I would seriously consider Anytime fitness or Genesis fitness if you need more flexibility on time or expect to feel rushed out the door 15 to 30 minutes before they close if you are a late exerciser. They even bothered to make the clocks a few minutes faster (phones are synced with the time servers? and it seems really petty). I am being nitpicky, but two minutes is two minutes of exercise.

The biggest thing that it needs is a squat rack/platform for heavy lifting, but everything else is adequate to get a good variety of exercises in. Newer/replaced equipment could help to utilize the space better.

I'm still a member but strongly considering moving on else where.

I will say that I love Bene-Fit. I've been a member there for years, and I love that it's not too flashy. The members there are there to work out, not for flashiness. It's a mix of younger and older members, and It's never too busy, even during peak hours, so there's never any waiting for equipment, and it is bigger than it looks from the outside.

I do have to call out Julius314159 for his or her review. I'm sorry you had a bad experience there, but a lot of members there would disagree with you about Gary. I will disagree with you! I haven't met much nicer people than Gary. He's an engaging, cheerful, and upbeat person, and he's always got a smile on his face. And anytime I've had an issue at the gym, he listens and looks into it. He knows everyone in there, and people always stop to talk to him when they clock in. I've even seen him assist some of the older members get to their cars or get on/off equipment. I'm glad to put my name by his endorsement, not some screen name, because I know what a dedicated person he is.

For anyone reading this, please check out the gym for yourself instead of reading a few negative reviews.

Great little neighborhood gym; it's MUCH bigger on the inside than it looks from the street, due to having a deep-not-wide design. $10/month is a steal for a full free weight/machine fitness room, an exercise room (classes cost extra, but you can use the equipment in there yourself if you know how), and a front room of cardio equipment. They have trainers regularly helping clients, though that is again an add-on. If you know what you're doing, this is a great place to stay fit on a budget. Plenty of equipment for the crowd, rarely do you have to wait for equipment, even free weights. Both clients and staff are friendly, if pretty mind-your-own-business. If you need a spotter, you can just say so and someone will be glad to help, though.

My only complaint is the hours are sometimes difficult to work around, but longer hours would cost more...

Worst customer service I have ever received. Was charged an "annual fee" after being a member for 10 months AND at the same time I was cancelling my membership because I had moved. I was spoken to in a raised voice by mamangement and informed I was being recorded each time I called.

I think the previous reviewer is dead wrong! The only machine that is not up to par is the stair stepper. It is a revolving staircase poorly designed. The other equipment is fine. I don't know if anything in that lady's critique is correct, She is certainly wrong about the cost. The cost is less than $200 per year.
