I feel like itβs always something going on or wrong with this location. Now the sauna has been broken for over 2 week. For being newly renovated they seem to have a lot of issues and itβs really getting old. You look dumb when you have so many ppl complaining and youβre just taking your time to fix something thatβs broken. What a horrible company.

The renovated, expanded fitness floor is just fantastic! The machines are all brand new, plentiful, great variety, and easy to use. It's also kept very clean in there. The staff is friendly and helpful too. However, the men's locker room is like taking a walk back in time 50 years. It's a very strange layout and very old. No towels, no locks, everything cheap. If you have used a LifeTime locker room, you will understand.

Very disappointed no signage saying that the why is open until 9:00 p.m. yet out of nowhere the pool closes at 8:30 seems odd when you finish your workout to be rushed away from the pool not good

2/21/2025 Update:
They opened the adjacent room with a play area. Still no natural light/windows in the main Child Watch room.
I used to drive 40min to this YMCA because of the Child watch room. The engineer who did the building plans obviously doesn't have kids and didn't considered them.
The Child watch room used to have windows, so kids and employees at least could have natural light! The room was spacious and you could have different ages divided (especially if you are bringing a baby).
Now they are all cramped in a broom closet, no windows, no good ventilation!
I was so, so disappointed, any parent without an engineering degree could see the horrible idea and everything that is wrong with the new Child watch room!
Shame, shame, They have a picture showing how it's going to look the YMCA after the renovation, and all the entrance are windows from ceiling to the floor, but the YMCA agrees to stick the kids on a broom closet.
Hope someone with a brain will change this!

I have met great people and made best friends here, but omg this place needs some work. Even with renovations this place is a bummer. The new coed changing room frequently smells like sewage and the womenβs locker room layout could be better and also used a full body dryer.

Not sure who chose the plans of the womenβs locker room but curious why 20 bathrooms are necessary? I feel like Iβm in elementary gym classβ¦ open room with hardly any lockers and definitely no privacy. Again what man decided on this arrangement. Any chance you could get new show heads so shampoo comes out of my hair. Maybe someone in administration should try the womenβs locker room experience. Open changing area, try to find a locker and donβt forget a shower with no pressure. Agree or disagree with this assessment. Extremely disappointed!

They have swimming lessons for kids and seniors during peak hours every day during which they close most of the lanes and close the general swimming area.
I'm handicapped and just need to walk in the pool to help my pain, but the swim instructors kick everyone out of the general area. I was then in a swim lane and they put up a sign to close it down and kicked me out of there
I only joined the Y so I could use the pool and lately I never can. Very disappointing as I though they would cater to disabled people more.

A perfect place for fitness and relaxation. It offwrs everything that a gym does and a lot more with huge swimming pool, sauna, sports courts, walking space and much more. You can even take private or group sessions and classes to learn any sports. They offer a variety of combinations to choose from. The staff is very well spoken and always ready to help.
You need a membership to access the resources but they give you a guest pass that can be used twice without paying which is great to experience whatever this place has to offer.

I donβt like to be critical, but I feel the menβs locker room facility needs better attention. The floor in the shower area is not clean, too many soap dispensers are empty too often, and there is frequently a foul odor in the area of the toilet. It was never this way before COVID. I hope more attention can be given to the locker room soon.

Had to cancel a compromised credit card which my Y membership happened to be billed to. Eight days later required to pay a $25 service charge for this (versus the monthly $50) which is Tony Soprano level extortion.
This on top of the unfortunate decision to continue to offer kids a summer βcampβ even though development across the street eliminated the outdoor area needed to stage one. Resulting in adults being booted out of the gym and pool areas during most of daytime hours all summer, as the facility was converted into a giant inside day care facility.
And miscellaneous deterioration of services, Covid as an excuse to no longer have towels for instance.
Called at quits after almost 30 years of membership and will look elsewhere.

Lazy employees that kick customers out 15-20 mins before their official closing hours. A female staff even started to clear program areas like 30 mins prior on workday nights, so she can get off early I reckon. Is this a type of false advertising about their business hours?

I agree with Shobby who posted earlier as well as well DW. They don't greet you when you walk in. And if they do greet you they tell you to Hurry Up. The custodians come into the locker room and rush you out of there when the place is about to close - Yelling "loudly" 10 min were closing : 5 min were closing. And finally were Close get out. Not to mention they start cleaning the locker room 15 minutes before closing. I'm putting my pants on and there is a mop by my foot. One time I'm walking out and this one guy who is always running behind is changing his clothes in the lobby because they forced him out so quick - I'm not making this up. Greg has no respect for the members and lacks empathy. After yelling from the custodians in locker room the executive director of the place (not joking - you would think he had better things to do) comes into the locker room 3 min after closing time to tell people quit talking and to hurry up that the Y is closed. Blame is at the top not Greg,(even though he comes off arrogant) people above him are running the show. I cancelled my membership. I urge people to join The Lodge of Des Peres or Jewish Community Center of Chesterfield (membership prices are around the same as the Y) - both places are run the right way and they show humility and respect to the members. They also give you a 15 min grace period to get out of there establishment after closing time. Best thing no yelling in the locker rooms- they announce closing times over an intercom. The YMCA is just badly run and it's ashame because they have a nice facility (there steam room is awesome) but there hospitality is horrible.

I have been going to this Y for 15 years. I have made a lot of friends with members and employees, past and present. it all started with the Covid19 .I run on the treadmill usually 2 times a week. I have asthma and have to use the inhaler on a regular basis when i run. Couple of members may have complained when my mask dropped down to my nose. I was made aware of this situation twice on same day. I quit running and started to walk with the mask on as to comply with the regulations. I got an email from Greg Davenport (employee at the Y) scolding me that i was not responsible enough with my mask. In the same email, he asked me to consider being one of the board directors and to donate money to the Y. I never replied back.
2 months later, i receive another email From Greg, this time sending me a picture of his newly born Daughter and asking me for donations again.
When i inquired about this employee Greg, I was told by several other employees at the Y that Greg is a decent guy but very I'll tempered and very defensive. I never replied to him again.
Last week, i was joking with an employee ( i have known her for years ) to fix the entrance (pot holes) to the Y with her own money as her husband has a very decent job.. Today , when i walked in this morning i kidded with her that why did she not fix the lot over the weekend. She knows we kid around a lot and asked me to put it on a piece of paper. I wrote (fix the damn parkin lot) and we all laughed.
WOW!!!! To my utmost surprise and dismay i received another scolding and threating email from This employee Greg that he would not stand for any DEROGATORY comment from me and that it might be related to Covid 19 incident. I guess he is implying that i maybe upset about his email from summer. I assure you that it was a joke between 2 friends and nothing more. This employee Greg Davenport is not fit to be an employee in a customer relation environment as shown by his behavior.
I have been a member for 15 years and i have not once had a problem or been DISRESPECTFUL to any employee or member.
I have donated thousands of $$$$ to the Y causes and have helped numerous handicapped employees which Y has employed over the years.
I AM TOTALLY DISSAPOINTED IN GREG DAVENPORT.

I was hoping that the new price increases under the new Managment was going to create improvements in the form of better equipment, and infrastructure. What I am seeing unfortunately is not the case.
On the flip side the staff is very friendly and nice. I dont think that the price increases were necessary. Many families like ours spend over $100 a month between the monthly membership and the classes for the kids.

I love the variety of youth sports, however I wish the coaches were more professional. My son basketball coaches has not attended several games and practices and asks us parents to fill in. If I knew how to coach basketball myself I wouldnβt paid money for someone else to teach him. They also rescheduled several practices on different days when we are unavailable to attend. One practice was even rescheduled to 9-10pm....ridiculous. I wish my son was able to learn during these sessions.

I have been using this Y as my primary water workout provider but I've been forced to go else where. The classes offered on Tuesday and Thursday are nice but too late in the day. The Saturday class was always full but it's been eliminated. I went to the water dance class one afternoon and it was great but again it cuts a chunk out of the work day. The instructor said she'd like to do a morning class so maybe there's a chance it will be moved. The water helps me with my Arthritis and increases my flexibly. The YMCA in Chesterfield is a for sure a family YMCA, the staff is awesome and very friendly and kind. They put the customers first and go above and to higher heights to make us want to return their for any service. I really appreciate the kindness and unity towards people they make me feel so wonderful and so concern about your health and your image that you are trying to project. They make you feel welcome once you come in at the customer service desk, second if you are lost in the gym they help you to the fullness, to your expectations and if you dont want help they dont keep walking around bothering you, they give you space and many people want to be themselves instead of people on them minute by minute. Thanks allot for space, quiet, happiness, joy, peace.

Keep an eye on your billing! We loved the Y summer camps for years! Each year, they'd tell us to get the membership, order camp, then cancel membership after camp. In the past, cancelling never went smoothly but, it eventually got cancelled.
Last year, we did the same thing. Only this time, the nice lady's behind the counter didn't process the cancellation when we ordered it at the desk. As you'll notice when you deal with them, they're very likable but usually not well trained nor very familiar with what they're doing back there. It's kind'a cute & folksy until you don't catch the fact that they DIDN'T process your cancellation about a year ago and taking $75 out of your back for the last year (it shows up as "Chesterfield Fami" on the bank statement, not "YMCA", so you may not ID it as the "Y"). So it's like $700- $900 by now.
And when you contact them to discuss it, suddenly nobody there has the authority to do anything like that. So far, their best idea is, I think $150 + a few free months of membership...As you see, we DON'T use the Y's facilities so Why would we want that instead of the money that you took. So, after several weeks trying to get the right person to handle this, who is apparently new so they can't contact us (???), they KEEP CHARGING US $75...AGAIN...just days ago! They're well intentioned but DO NOT TRUST their ability to handle your account responsibly.
THEN: I got their response below. It's pretty clear by reading it that they either didn't care enough to even read in my post, that we have been reaching out to their office...hounding them for weeks. or, is it that your office tells us repeatedly they're trying to find someone who can help us (while they keep charging us) but that person that they can't find has been Dona Sherwood all this time. Either way, SOOOOOO BAD!

The only downfall, which is a deal breaker for us, is the locker rooms. The setup to go through the lockers, then showers, and then to the pool makes it very difficult for a single parent taking the opposite sex to swimming lessons. For example my husbabd took our 6 yo daughter and 4 yo son to swimming. Obviously my husband cannot take my 6 yo daughter in the girls locker room and my daughter is too old to go through the men's locker room (mainly bc you have to walk through the open community showers in which there are naked men showering, according to my husband, something we don't want our daughter seeing) so they have family dressing rooms but in order to get to them you have to enter going through the administrative office, in which my husband was greeted with dirty looks and a deadly silence. The setup makes it very difficult for single dads with a 5 yo and up daughter. The actually swimming lessons were great, by far the best we have experienced, however we will not be returning due to the uneasy access to the pool. And the life guards are not the friendliest, not to mention my husband caught one sleeping on the job!

Karen is an excellent and dedicated water exercise instructor. If you are older, Karen is the instructor you will want.
Bobbie is a phenomenal personal trainer. She constantly assesses your progress and adjusts your workout accordingly. You are always moving forward towards a goal.
Not all trainers are as good Bobbie. If you are not making progress simply ask for a different trainer.

I booked a personal trainer for my 14 year old and asked her to setup specific sets of exercises to help build general strength and that were age appropriate. We are very happy with our trainer and the Y facilities.

My daughter loves her swimming classes on every Saturday. she is now into stage 3 and i see good progress in her Swimming. Thanks to Chesterfield Y!The staff is fantastic. Only thing I missed my apple watch during my daughter's classes and reached Y staff. They responded positively and trying to find the watch. They are very helpful and friendly. My Apple Watch is not found :-(

I love the Chesterfield Y!! The staff is fantastic, I have been a member For 10 years and have really gotten to feel that this is my extended family. The classes they offer are fantastic and diverse, a little something for everyone. I have made many personal friends as well...Bonus! One of the best things about this organization is they are constantly giving back to the community, helping families in various ways.

This is a great Y. It has been instrumental in helping me maintain my longest streak of consistently working out since structured sports in high school. Everyone there is welcoming, helpful and nice (even more than other local Ys). It is never too crowded, and is always clean. They keep up with replacing worn equipment. The sense of community in the Bodyworks class I attend is a big help to keep me on track with fitness. I also like how the instructor, Denny R., keeps the class challenging and interesting by changing the workouts every time. It's a great bonus that there's a beautiful outdoor trail right behind the Y for short runs when the weather is nice.

Early Childhood Education Center: By far the best experience I've ever had with child care! I will never take any of my children anywhere else as long as the staff and facility are as wonderful as they are now! My two year old daughter has been here since August and she adores her teachers and classmates. They have an awesome app that gives you real time notifications and pictures of what they're doing throughout the day! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

DAYCARE: my daughter learned so much during the 2 years she spent here. There were couple of teachers i didn't appreciate but overall employees are nice. They only charged 215 a week for full 5 day week which is a really good price and this place is way better than kindercare and couple of other places i visited. Of course i hated the menu but it is a common issue in all the child care. If you find a day care where your kid didnt come home hungry and thirsty please let me know. I am considering the infant care for my son if they have spot available. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Nice people, wide variety of machines and weights, and not too crowded but definitely not a ghost town. The only things I wish they had is a climbing rope, a rolling thunder, and a t-bar row machine.

The staff is hell disgusting. The baby care staff is very rude. All the people in this Chesterfield YMCA is very careless and rude on the members. Other YMCA's in other areas are very nicely threaten.
I dont want to go this YMCA again even its free of cost. Be aware of it guys..
