If you ever plan on moving away, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this business. They made me jump through all sorts of hoops, signing letters and mailing them in and paying for a fee to cancel—and then a year and a half later I get a call from a debt collector telling me I owe Club Fitness hundreds of dollars. They never contacted me, they just took my money and then ran up debt for a year and then sold it to a debt collector without notifying me. Absolutely horrible corporate greed run rampant.

Kirstie Behlmann is the best BodyPump instructor in Saint Louis! I’ve been taking her class twice a week for almost one year. She's a wonderful person and in exceptional shape, which is highly motivating! Her instructions are spot-on and easy to follow. She offers personal assistance with exercises and happily takes song requests. I’ve taken classes with other instructors but Kirstie’s class by far has the best energy. My favorite part of class is the child's pose.

Club Fitness Maplewood is a nice gym with good equipment, but two problems keep coming up. First, staff need to enforce the no-bag rule — gym bags left on the floor are a safety hazard. Second, filming inside the gym should be banned. I agree with other members who have pointed out that the constant videoing (mostly by women) is distracting and makes many of us uncomfortable.

I’ve seen the club respond to other reviews by saying they will ‘look into it,’ but nothing has changed. If these issues aren’t addressed soon, I’ll be looking for another gym. Members deserve a safe and distraction-free place to train.”

The Amway pyramid scheme people are out of control and really impacting the gym experience. I have been going to this location for about 6-7 years now. Over the last year I have been approached 7 times by people (usually young men in their early 20’s) who will engage you in conversation by complimenting something you are wearing or a tattoo or finding some opening, and then proceed to interrupt your workout for 15 minutes by talking ambiguously about your goals and “entrepreneurship” and “mentor” and “revenue sharing”. It is not just me. I see others who are regularly accosted by the amway folks every week. I saw another one tonight. Otherwise the facility is great. They just need to address this explicitly.

I think it’s time to augment an update my review from three years ago.

The gym has gotten even better equipment and has really everything you need. However, the place is absolutely insanely overcrowded. At essentially any hour of the day.

The preposterous overuse of cell phones by so many members, just gets to be obnoxious. Sitting on the leg press or another machine, just staring at their phone, texting on Instagram, whatever. Use the equipment or get off.

Moreover, I’ve been to over 100 gyms across multiple states over the 30 years I’ve been lifting . I’ve never encountered a more overall negative, combative, tough guy, and acting to be tough girl environment.

This doesn’t speak to all members, but I’ve been to enough gyms to know that this is not Subjective. The attitude of the members here, men women, I’ve never experienced, more rude, macho, acting guys, and even women literally trying to start fights with you.

In terms of the atmosphere, it without question the most user unfriendly gym I’ve ever been to in my entire life.

I’ve been to so many gyms, where its a welcoming environment. Just being friendly, helping others out, , regardless of your level of fitness. Not only does this Maplewood location not exemplify the same. It’s quite the contrary.

I’ve been here for roughly 6 years. So I have enough time and sample size to feel 100% validated in what I am saying . I only go in the middle of the night because there are so few people. I don’t know what the issue is in the overall crappy, entitled attitude of so many members there, and the reasoning for it. I only see it getting worse.

Moreover - though I have not experienced this personally - it’s glaringly evident that like other Gym chains, this and all CF locations make it an absolute hassle to cancel. Oftentimes continuing to charge members after their contract has ended. Typical often used tactic of fitness facilities. This - I have experience at Gold’s Gym, which has now gone bankrupt. 🤔🤔 Maplewood CF perhaps you should heed the overwhelming and seemingly repetitive justifiable complaints of erroneously charging members and ex-members. If the original “GYM” can go under due to such blatant scamming - you’re EST in the 1980’s much smaller outfit is going to end up just like them..and 24 Hour Fitness.

Nice gym but it needs policies in place for no videoing inside the facility, period. The videoing is out of control inside the gym and it's being done 99% by the female population. It feels like the men (and some nice mature women) are constantly having to dodge phone cameras to have some sort of peace of mind so that they don't get plastered all over some social media platform with false accusations. There's phone cameras seen all over the place in standing up leaning positions against workout equipment, machines, water bottles, personal bags, bunched up hoodies, etc. Oddly enough, the women think the men are okay with this behavior or we're oblivious because we don't say anything. The men just want to focus on our workouts instead of being bombarded by attention seeking women that can turn their necks 180 degrees to see if they can catch a snippet Please get some policies in place and kindly enforce the rules.

I have been going to this gym/location well over a year now. I’ve always loved this gym, the crowd, as well as the amenities. Recently the price went up for amenities, which is ok, but there has been absolutely no upgrades to the gym/facilities.
I have found this location to be absolutely disgusting. For the price of a monthly membership, I would expect atleast a cleaner gym. I’m shocked at the cleanliness of the shared showers. To be a very busy gym, there are no scales in the women’s locker room. The hooks in the shower stalls are the absolute worst. No stand/shelf to put toiletries on in the shower (I am disgusted I have to put my soaps on the floor). I am saddened at how the quality of this gym has gone down. I will be looking for a new gym.

The gym is conveniently open 24hr, cleaned regularly, and has options for nearly any type of workout that you can imagine. The only downside is that it can get a bit crowded around the prime after-work times, but that is to be expected. The management is always adding/replacing equipment and repairs to existing equipment is usually done relatively quickly.
To all the people complaining about cancellation issues, that is unfortunately par for the course for any gym that you will ever sign up for, anywhere. If you can make it to the gym 1-7x per week, you can just as easily go to the location once and cancel in person, it really is not difficult, people are just lazy.

If I could give less than one star, I would. When I first started with Club Fitness they had several amenities that I thought were exciting: burn zone room, pulse room, workout theater. They slowly got rid of all these and on top of that raised prices. Then they added a stretch/recovery room and wanted to charge additional fees to use it. I decided that since I was only using weights and hydrobed, I could save ~$15/month switching to Planet Fitnes. I canceled my membership on January 17, with at least two weeks before my next bill date. They are saying they get a 30-day cancellation notice and will bill me again February 2, even though I can’t access the club in that time. To me this is an incredibly shady business practice.

Although I like this gym, I was disappointed in the Women's Locker Room. My usual gym routine is workout early, shower at the gym, then head to work but I cannot accomplish that at this gym. The shower area is not clean, the towel hooks are janky - barely holding a towel up, and there is no place for your toiletries. Also, if you are in the last shower stall (downstream design), you could potentially have runoff from the other showers because there is no floor separation. There are no disinfectant spray or cleaning spray in the shower area. There is only one changing stall so you are forced to change in the open locker area. Now, in the locker area, the benches are attached to the lockers, so if you are sitting on the bench you are blocking someone from accessing their locker or someone is reaching over you as you trying to dress. There are no paper towels in the restroom area, only hand dryers and the toilets are no better than the showers. The locker room is poorly designed.
Now, I will say the staff is friendly and the gym does have enough equipment to use, even when it is busy.

I travel for work and the gym was apart of my fitness program. One random morning it wasn’t. So I checked the app and saw it had been removed from the program. I’m usually here for a week or less so buying a membership wouldn’t fit my needs. After reading the reviews I see the removal was most likely due to the overall increase in price. It’s a nice gym. Great place to go if you want your car to be broken into while working out, or just have the door paint keyed. Happens regularly.

If that's OK with you, the gym itself is actually pretty good. Good equipment, generally well-maintained. Very crowded early am if you are trying to work out before work, compounded by guys playing on their phones more than actually exercising.

Used to be be better managed but in the last 6 months or so has gone way downhill. After my friend there had her car broken into along with 7 others one day last month, I had my paint keyed last week. I like the Club Fitness chain, but this location is full of thuggery in the parking lot, including people living out of their cars and using the club for showers etc.

Their cancellation agreement is otherwise absurd and reprehensible, requiring members to provide a written 30-day notice to cancel, which means if you try and cancel a week before your next billing cycle they will lean on this exploitative rotten display of corporate greed to fatten their cheeks and debit your account once more. Also the Pulse room is always full of people not doing the structured workout but using the equipment needed for the workout. It’s super annoying. Been a member for years and am so frustrated with their fraudulent business practices. Apparently creating an account with them means you’ll never be able to cancel…. I moved and had to go in person to cancel my account (ridiculous they have a website and app but you can’t cancel online). Anyways I went in person to cancel, used their kiosk to cancel but was not provided with a cancellation receipt (their automated phone line said I should be….). I spoke with staff and requested a cancellation receipt and they said it hadn’t updated yet in their system “would take a few weeks”. It’s now a month later and they’re still charging me for my membership. Absolutely disgusted with their business practices and will be reporting them.

THIS BUSINESS IS A PREDATORY RIPOFF!The price has gone up significantly unannounced. They took away the multiple location access from "legacy members". I found out tonight when i went to work out that they took away 24 hour access as well. That was the last straw. After being a member for 10 years I'm done with club fitness. Their locations have gone downhill. Staff is rude. During the pandemic they took our money were closed and had significantly reduced hours. Prior to this they took away red-light therapy and tanning. 24 hour access, multiple locations, red-light therapy, sauna, tanning, was ALL in the membership I signed; and it's ALL GONE NOW.

After they changed THEIR membership terms they are going to charge me another month's membership after my cancelation. Gotta love how they can constantly change the terms that benefit them, but the contract is iron clad if it screws the customer. This place has predatory business practices and is trash.

The gym is packed, too hot, gym equipment is falling into disrepair, etc. Full of "influencers" filming and people camping on weight machines.

DON'T LIST YOUR HOURS ON GOOGLE AS 24 HOURS IF YOUR MEMBERS CANNOT ACCESS IT.

This is probably the worst gym chain in St Louis.

It is constantly over crowded, and not even close to clean as a result.

The machines break on a weekly basis, so does the sauna. Prepare to wait weeks for them to fix a single machine. Half of the stair steppers have been out for months with no sign of this ever changing.

The music ranges from loud as hell to normal volume, to non existent depending on who is working at the time.

Gymfluencers everywhere filming themselves. Hordes of teenagers and people standing around doing nothing.

Customer service is garbage. Manager didn’t even think twice when I said I won’t renew my annual membership. No discussion of why, feedback, etc.

If you want a gym community this is not the place for you. Hell, if you want a gym, this ain’t it, chief.

Update, new fee structure is bizarre and only allows "legacy" memberships to go to a single location even though the agreement I signed was for all location access. Funny how a gym membership agreement is iron clad if you want to cancel early, but super flexible if the gym wants more of your money.

Great facility and staff, but unfortunately, they still have too many members during normal hours. This means your workout will take longer, which adds up to a great deal of time. There are better club fitness locations not far.

Rock Hill was already too small, now they pack everyone into Maplewood. The Affton location is a little less crowded but not much better and still a good distance away if you live in Webster/Kirkwood area.

First of all, I forgot to cancel the membership and was never used their Gym for about five months but they were charging my account since I haven’t canceled it. I found out when I lost my wallet with credit card and missed payment that they started calling me to put back credit card. I never did it but tried to call them and It was impossible to talk to someone without their automated phone just talk and hang up on me. I went to Club Fitness and asked them then they told me that I have to pay all months that I haven’t paid because I lost credit card and never paid them even though I haven’t used the club. This place has gone downhill. Some of the same equipment has been broken so summer.

This gym is WAY TOO HOT. Even in winter it runs on the warm side, but in summer it's been ridiculous. It's only 73 degrees outside and walking in the gym it is hotter!!

Club fitness has closed down other nearby gyms and this was one of the newer facilities, so now this one is ridiculously overcrowded.

I hate having to have the club fitness app downloaded on my phone.

I have to say Macey, the personal trainer is unprofessional - I was told the first day when I signed up for the training sessions that at least 12 hours in advance if you need to reschedule otherwise it will be forfeited.

However tonight I was asked 30mins before my session if I can reschedule my session. Then I was told plan stays the same 10 mins before my session. I need about 20 min to get the gym so the session started at 7.15 and it was supposed to be a 1hour session. But Macey left at 8 sharp while I was still doing my last round. She just left.

The reschedule standard should be mutual. Macey is definitely not recommended, if you want to sign up for training sessions, find someone else.

They have equipment that needs to be fixed and every time I address the issue I get excuses , never fixed properly… they increase our rates and never honor what they inform membership , highly disappointed

I posted this above review a few months ago and to update it I like to say that I am now suffering from a lower back injury that I got from riding on their spin bikes that were never properly maintained when I address the issue several times

I will be taking further steps to ensure that club fitness suffers the consequences for not properly listening to members concerns about their equipment

I highly recommend club fitness but not club fitness of maplewood Missouri their facility and employees lack knowledge and empathy’s of their clients wellbeing

Again do not sign up at maplewood facility , avoid at all cost !!!!

They give away free smoothies for reviews. Look into all of the BBB complaints, then sign up elsewhere. They took away tanning, child care, and red light therapy from memberships, even if you're already in a contract. Beware, you cannot cancel via phone or email. They make it almost impossible to cancel a membership. Angry owners/management that always have an axe to grind with paying members. We had 3 memberships in my family. All had a horrible experience.

My boyfriend and I moved to Maplewood and decided to check out Club Fitness since it’s only minutes from our house. We both love being active, and a great gym close to home was a must. I was immediately impressed by the volume of cardio machines and the quality of treadmills with quick speed/incline changes (I’m a huge runner so quality treadmills are so important). There is a large variety of strength machines, space for barbell work, and space for free weights. We were also impressed by how clean the facility was and how many additional amenities there are. As soon as my 3 day free pass was over, I got my membership!

This location can get very busy, but everyone is kind and stays aware of someone waiting on a machine. In the past year, they've removed some features that I signed up for, and soon after they removed them. I can appreciate them adding new features, but it can be a little frustrating when you look forward to the originals. The other downfall is that the gym is consistently dirty. I come in at 5am and there are wet signs...but the floors are still visibly dirty.

Unethical business practices. They persuade you to pay extra for a higher tier membership to access more amenities, only to remove access to those amenities later on, *after* you’ve signed a year long contract.

Recently they removed access to red light therapy, kids club, and tanning for premium level membership holders with no notice. You now have to pay extra for a “platinum” level membership to use those facilities.

I LOVE Club Fitness. They have everything I need to get my mornings started right. The main gym is huge and has tons of equipment, but one of my favorite things about this location is the ladies only Gym. It’s never been crowded anytime I’ve been, and I can workout without feeling self conscious. The music there is great. Very upbeat! After my workout I rejuvenate myself with a hydro massage which is AMAZING! The women’s locker room has very nice showers where I can get ready for work as well as a sauna! On my way out the door, I grab a delicious smoothie from their smoothie bar. I could spend all day here! There’s so many other things to enjoy that I haven’t even taken advantage of yet such as classes and red light therapy.

When you sign up they say you can "cancel anytime". What they don't tell you is that you will have to pay for three more months (that you can't use because your membership is cancelled at your next billing cycle.) Such a scam and it's not like they need the money because the place is packed at all hours. Can never get the equipment you need. What a waste of my time and money. Do not go there

Impossible to cancel membership. Phone number re-routes you endlessly to no one. You must go in and I guess hope a manager is there? Or apparently mail in a letter asking to cancel which will probably end up misplaced I am assuming. If you sign up, plan on either getting locked in for life or going through the biggest scam of a cancellation process I have ever seen. As for the gym. Don’t bother, over crowded most of the time.

The gym is essentially unusable from 4p-8p. The place is completed packed to an unsafe level. Multiple people bumping into people while they are lifting. I saw a person benching multiple plates and someone bumped the bar while it was over their head. Club Fitness’s new business model where they have less facilities and just sign up as many people as possible is going to get someone hurt. They need to consider adding additional locations or capping membership/capacity at a certain level.

There’s a lot to like about the Maplewood Club Fitness. It’s big, bright, and roomy. There is lots of equipment to choose from, a hydro lounge, and women’s workout studio. Everything is brand new. My only complaint about the place is the blaring music. It’s so loud and obnoxious. I have to really crank my music through my ear buds to drown out what they’re playing. I don’t even understand why they do this, since 99.9% of the people working out are listening to their own stuff. I find it so disturbing. Otherwise, it’s a pretty good gym.
