About the Club

Dragonfly Fitness was created as a space where all women interested in strength training are welcome, regardless of age or ability. A space where women who may have once been intimidated or afraid of lifting a barbell, deadlifting a heavy weight, or hanging from the bar are now celebrating now celebrating these accomplishments! We’ve discovered so many women who have benefited from our community and the support of all the other women here!

While we welcome all fitness levels, it’s important to note that the programs we offer aren’t a “light” version of strength training by any means. Our training programs work for seasoned athletes to beginners simply because we have talented and caring coaches who help each individual scale to her needs.

I joined Dragonfly over 3 years ago with only a short term goal of getting in shape for a vacation. As someone who had never stuck with any physical fitness habit, I was quite confident that this wouldn't be any different and I'd be back to my couch potato ways before the trial membership was done.

Internet, I was wrong.

Dragonfly is unlike any gym I've joined before. Coaches are focused on helping you, not selling to you. Dragonfly members form a caring, supportive community. I've never encountered anyone there who made me feel inferior or judged me. The classes are designed to be as challenging as you need it to be, and not just geared for one level of fitness. Coaches work with you where you are at, and are happy to suggest modifications as you need. Since joining Dragonfly, I feel strong and confident in my body. My Dragonfly workouts are now an essential part of my week, and I can't imagine going back to my couch potato ways.

This is an incredible feat that Renah, the owner of Dragonfly, has achieved and maintains. How do you maintain such a positive, supportive culture in an industry that generally thrives by making you feel bad about your body? I don't know. But she does, and I'm very thankful for it.

I absolutely love this all women’s training gym. It is not the cheapest gym around and if that is what you are looking for, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for someplace to be consistent, grow strong, build community, and push yourself this is the place. I have been going for almost a year now and have seen how the coaching staff can adapt to injuries as well as push you further to meet your goals. This is more than just a gym, it’s a community and there are many events that the staff put on as well to build that. I could not recommend this gym enough for women of any age in STL who want to find a place to stick around and grow in their fitness.

Dragonfly Fitness has definitely changed my life in the four years I have been a member. The trainers are incredible. They really care about meeting you where you are and do everything towards supporting your personal growth and strength within and outside the gym. My form has improved when doing a range of movements - including kettle bell swings, planks, mountain climbers, and deadlifts. For years I have been doing these movements incorrectly and had no idea. UPDATED REVIEW: I’ve now been a member at DFT for almost 7 years! Taking strength classes here remains one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. It has helped with functional fitness and even made recovery from a major hip surgery so much easier. Not to mention how much help I received with modifications during my year+ period of recovery. My coaches were so incredibly helpful during a time when I worried that I wouldn’t be able to return to the level of fitness I was at. I can honestly say that I am now stronger than ever and continue to gain strength. The confidence I’ve gained in the gym has helped to challenge me outside of the gym physically as well. It remains a fun place to work out, be challenged, and be a part of an amazing community of women who inspire and lift each other up.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been a member at Dragonfly for almost 3 years, and it is hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. Women of all ages and all levels of fitness are welcome here. I’ve had to deal with some older injuries and arthritis, and the wonderful and knowledgeable coaches are always ready with a modification for a movement that isn’t working for you. Class sizes are small, and the studio is always immaculate. The coaches truly care for their clients and get to know every one that walks through the door. I’ve always been self-conscious about working out in front of others, but Dragonfly has helped me to gain confidence in my abilities as I’ve become stronger. I have been a member of this wonderful place for 8 years now. Renah, the owner is top notch. The trainers will know you by name, will modify movements to help you start where you need to be. If you have injuries, they will work with you to strengthen and overcome obstacles. The gals who come in are friendly and encouraging. It is a community. We lift each other up! This might be a long review because there are just so many things I’ve loved about this gym. After a year of home workouts during the pandemic, I was ready to try new things and lift heavier weights. After looking at gyms in the area I decided to try DFT for various reasons but mostly because it’s a gym by women for women. I can’t tell you how incredible it’s been to be in a space full of women of all ages and bodies with the same goal of getting stronger. Watching everyone hit their goals is so inspiring! The coaches and other members are all so supportive, while also trusting that we know our bodies and our limits best. I have a lot of injuries from sports when I was younger and the coaches always work with me to make appropriate modifications. I’ve been able to achieve all the goals I set out for joining this gym and got to meet some great people along the way. The coaches also host additional events for skills and community building. I could go on but if I wasn’t moving I would have stayed a member here for many years! Definitely consider DFT when you’re shopping around for a new gym!

When I first decided to try out Dragonfly I was terrified about not being able to keep up with the workouts and worried that I wouldn't fit in. I used to hate working out. Since joining Dragonfly it’s one of the things I look forward to the most. I have been a member for a little over a year and I can’t speak highly enough of this place. I have been going to Dragonfly for almost 3 years now and it keeps getting better and better every year. I have always been an athlete and their workouts have kept me interested and challenge me every step of the way. I can say one of the best things about this wonderful gym is that they are able to help me with every hurdle that’s thrown my way. I was able to work through a shoulder injury and come back even stronger than before. I am now currently pregnant and have become the modification queen! They have been able to help tailor my workouts to keep me healthy and active as my body changes. I never dread going to my workouts, instead I look forward to seeing the friends I have made and leave in a better headspace. I feel ready to take on my day and know the biggest challenge is behind me! Their sense of community is one of the things I love most about them. They are always finding ways to help support local charities and give back to the neighborhood. They honestly want the best for anyone and everyone. COVID has made life difficult but Dragonfly saw this as an opportunity to grow and keep us all on track. I feel genuinely cared for by each and every trainer. They know me personally and make an effort to make you feel welcomed instantly. My best advice to someone who is wanting to start their fitness journey is to give Dragonfly a try. I’ve been back at Dragonfly since October 2020, and I’m so glad I rejoined. I have been attending strength classes consistently and seeing results in my strength over the course of each 8 week session. I get my cardio in on Saturdays with the Hurricanes class and love hitting up rowing classes when they become available. I had never rowed before joining Dragonfly so I can credit (mostly) Renah for my form and skill. The coaches are well-versed in biomechanics, and offer alternative movements for those that need them (Pain? Mobility issue? Injury? They’ll help you work either around it or to overcome it!). There truly is a sense of community at Dragonfly amongst the members, and I look forward to each session to focus on myself, even if it’s only for a few hours per week. I’m a better parent and partner when I get in my workout.

I love Dragonfly! At the age of 44, I decided that I needed cardio in my life. I live in Illinois, but work near Dragonfly, so I gave it a try...six months later, I have committed to training twice a week after work. Although I wasn't at all familiar with gyms or structured "weight lifting" in general, I decided to investigate Dragonfly -- and I really lucked out!!

This gym is a great combination of "work at your own pace" and personalized attention. The trainers are approachable and knowledgeable and constantly encourage and check form. They know you, they know your name, they know what you're working on and keep a non-intrusive eye on you throughout class. And the other members are friendly, even during the very early morning classes! :)

I love this place. I suffered serious gym intimidation and for that reason never stuck to a regular workout schedule or gym until I found Dragonfly. 5 stars isn't enough for Renah and her team at Dragonfly. They have created an amazing family of supportive women who workout together and never judge each other, which I always saw at other gyms. On top of that, the pricing for group training is great, and it feels like personal training. I have been a member of Dragonfly for 1 month, and my only regret is that I didn't sign up sooner. After driving by for two years, I finally decided to take the plunge and try a class. From the first time I walked in the doors the trainers and the other members have been so friendly and welcoming.
There is a great variety of classes, and the trainers meet you on your level for every exercise. I've taken classes with Deb, Missy, Renah, and Carey and they are all great motivators. I know that when I walk in for a class I will have a cheerleader in my corner when attempting a new move or progression.

The best part about Dragonfly is the great community of women. Everyone is encouraging to one another and success is celebrated with the group. There is ZERO intimidation here because everyone works on getting better together every day.

AMAZING experience at Dragonfly. Real fitness for real women in the real world. You will be challenged and you will do things you didn't think you could do. AWESOME gym. The trainers are great (and crazy - in a good way) and the other members are truly amazing. Everyone is very supportive of each other and it is a very collaborative atmosphere. It is a smaller gym meaning space can be a bit at a premium but since it is class based with typical maximum numbers at 14 it works! Dragonfly has changed my life and not just because I've lost 30lbs and am the strongest I've ever been but because I've found a community of awesome, supportive women that inspire me to be better every day. The classes are challenging but fun regardless of your fitness level. Even in group classes, it feels like a personal training session. If you have an injury, count on the trainers to check in on you and offer modifications. One of the trainers even researched exercises I could do at home to help with my shoulder injury. I had wonderful results with their nutrition coaching. It taught me healthy but realistic habits I will use for the rest of my life. I love attending the various potlucks, brunches and parties they host. And on top of all of this, is their commitment to supporting different charities throughout the year. Dragonfly is more than just a gym; it's a community amazing women!

I love this place. It is the first time I have ever felt truly comfortable in a gym and I love that they tailor everything to my ability and focus on challenging me without it being too much or too hard. I truly enjoy going and look forward to my days there. Renah is amazing.

Love it 1 Love It! The group sessions are the best....The trainers are spot on. They are always pushing you to do more(with good form) that is...Would not be down from a size 22 to a 14 without the amazing help and encouragement I receive every time I go. Thumbs up!!!!!!!

I absolutely love Dragonfly! The trainers and members are so encouraging and supportive. When I joined in January of 2015, I was completely out of shape and overweight, but I never felt out of place or like I didn't belong. Since joining, my life has completely changed. I've lost nearly 50 lbs and I feel the best I have since high school. Not only have I gained a lot of knowledge about fitness but I've also gained a ton of knowledge about nutrition through the Living Lean program at Dragonfly. If you're thinking about joining Dragonfly, do it! It will be one of the best decisions you've ever made.
