I love gyms, but not all gyms are created equal. This gym is a real gym. No added bs or overcrowded. Perfect for those who hate commercial gyms and love the smell of pure metal clanking against itself. It’s pure grinding, heavy sweating, catching breaths, PR setting work outs. I love it here. The owners are cool and deadlift heavy. Wish I lived in St. Louis or I’d make this place home. But for the few months I’m here, Eagles Gym is home

Eagle Gym is an old school hardcore bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, boxing club type gym. If you love the sound of 45lb iron plates slamming together and you want to get brutally strong, Eagle Gym is the place for you. You can chalk up your hands, go for that new deadlift PR, and the gym will be cheering you on. Now under new ownership the gym is expanding into kickboxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, MMA, etc.

I first stepped foot into Eagle Gym over 15 years ago and loved the place ever since. Rick King the original founder and owner of Eagle Gym is a legend in the bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman world, and Matt (the previous owner/manager) is also an extremely nice man with an extensive knowledge of bodybuilding, strongman, and powerlifting. I have a lot of fond memories training strongman events in the parking lot behind Eagle Gym or just getting my pump on inside the gym going down the dumbbell rack.

I just signed up to the gym last week, met the new owners (who are very nice people), and I am excited to begin regularly going to the gym. I live 35 minutes away from the gym and I drive past a ton of gyms to make it to Eagle Gym. I am looking forward to the future of Eagle Gym keeping the hardcore bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, and boxing culture it is known for while also expanding the gym to include kickboxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, and MMA.

The gym membership is extremely affordable, and the new owners are very easy to work with. For the cost of some junk food and soda, you can afford a gym membership at Eagle Gym. Do yourself a favor, sign up to Eagle Gym, and get strong, healthy, and learn how to box.

Beware! New owner told me I had to pay a membership fee, when I have never signed up for a membership. Even if there was a membership in place, I just paid him money eleven days ago. I only utilize the gym maybe two or three times a month, depending on my schedule to train with the boxing coach, Jared. This is not my regular gym as I actually have a legitimate membership elsewhere. If you’re smart take your money elsewhere as he treats you as if you’re beneath him. He used vulgar profanity with me via text and was very disrespectful. He does not understand nor care that word of mouth and customer service is key. He also seems a bit racist, and misogynistic as he told me he wants to weed out β€œpeople like me”. (I have this via text as well) The couple of times I’ve seen the guy I’ve always been respectful to him, so β€œpeople like me”, confuses me because what is implied other than him meaning black people or women? Give your hard earned money to a business that will appreciate it, not someone like him.

Gym owner are very rude & just want your money, all gym equipment is filthy. Better off signing up for a gym like Planet or club fitness. Asked for a refund after two times coming & Matt became rude. Bad business

It's an old school gym with very reasonable prices of $5 a day, $30 a month $250 for the year; friendly employees, an onsite boxing instructor with one hour class sessions for $35 or five one hour sessions for $125 (for gym member only). The lessons are separate from the membership but you must be a member in order to attend. Overall it's a safe and constructive environment for kids while parents get in their daily workout and ladies are more than welcome to join and to visit. At this time I would like to send my condolences to Rick King's family and friends since his passing away recently. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and I rest assured to think of Rick lifting the weight of the sky up in heaven for all the angels to shine their light on us below. When you visit this gym it's more than just a community, it's family. <3

Went for my first day in a gym ever. Trying to get back in shape. Friend and myself grabbed a 3 month membership which is very reasonable. And I plan to go everyday.
The atmospheric vibe is awesome. Owner is awesome. No one is looking at you, or judging you. You could be like me. Wanting to get back into, even causally working out. You don't have to be the biggest fish in the sea. Everyone I met was awesome. You may think wow this place is not a nice as planet fitness or whatever is around. If you can't find a machine there to pump some iron. Just ask the owner. Or heck ask someone there. They are all awesome people.

It's a nice, small neighborhood gym. The staff is nice and the boxer trainer Mr. Wood worked well with my son. It's an older gym and reminds me of the 1st Rocky movie which I like; but overall you can definitely get a good workout.

The gym owner matt (and rick back when he ran it) are super helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable and friendly
They often offer pointers and guidance for all levels of lifters, and genuinely care about the lifters safety and progress.
The gym still maintains its old school nostalgia which is what I love about it the most, but at the same time is well taken care of and relatively clean.
This gym is also friendly to all level of lifters... from complete beginner to strongmen/strongwomen to high level powerlifters.
Overall 5/5 because of the aforementioned reasons, Eagles Gym is my first choice for lifting

Authentic powerlifting, strongman, boxing gym. Great vibe. The gym recently switched owner but the character of the place remains the same. People know and help each other. There's usually someone available to spot you--just ask. Matt, the new owner, is a super cool dude.

Best gym in STL, by far. The owner is super friendly and will give you tips and pointers on your lifts. Plenty of racks, barbells, and even a deadlifting platform. And one of the only gyms that allow chalk that I know of. This is truly a raw, full iron gym. If you're used to nautilus machines and Zumba class, this is not the place for you. Never crowded, and I always see the same few folks when I go there. Much more personable than club fitness or gold's. Being on a first name basis with other gym-goers really makes you want to keep going back.

Dirty, dingy, and amazing. One of the best gyms I've been to. It has the feel of an old school bodybuilding or powerlifting gym. They had plenty of equipment and boxing stuff. Also had the monolift and a bunch of strongman equipment. The owner was great, older gent who has been there and done that in the bodybuilding world and great to talk to. It was $5 for a single visit pass.

This place is the epitome of a "real gym." None of that lunk alarm crap in here! I watched some of the veteran lifters cheering on a newer lifter maxing out on squats like he was setting a world record. I loved the atmosphere and nostalgia to this place. This is not a place for pretty boys to check out chics. This is a place to go smash some weights and exercise your demons. Highly recommended! $5 a day for out of towners with no contract or waivers to sign.

Great gym to come to. First, its not a golds gym, its a strongman's gym. A little paint on the wall and a lot of mirrors and heavy weight moving around. Lots of machines and free weights. Even comes with a tire, rope and a truck to pull in the back. Everyone in the gym is helpful and willing to teach you proper form and what not. Been coming to this gym for five years now

Great gym. Went here while I was in St Louis and I'll definitely be coming back.
there was usually a roughly equal number of men and women there, a number of competitive power lifters, strongmen and boxers all of whom were very friendly.
the price was unbelievably inexpensive and no signup fees.
so much better than club fitness or any other fitness chain

Came in from out of town and found this great place. I picked this gym out of all the rest as it fits my needs for powerlifting - also has plenty of machines, dumbbells and barbells as well as equipment for strongman training. Everyone training and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly like the other rater mentioned. You can't beat the member rates either. Wish I had a place closer to home like this. I highly recommend checking this gym out. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town.
