I ended up canceling my membership after 5 years at essential. The last 3 years it has really gone down hill. They no longer have staff on site for questions, phones are hardly answered when you do need someone, and the facility has a history of smelling really bad. It is the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. They started renovating years ago and once they started they never finished. Things that are broken or need removed are just sitting by their garage doors. Their bathroom supplies are hardly stocked, they use gross hand air dryers now, the lights in one of the bathrooms hardly works, the shower looks iffy most times, and the equipment is okay. Most of it is old and has been welded 101 times, which isn’t the safest since it’s hard to say whether the welding job was done professionally or not. There are just much better options out there if you are willing to pay just a few more dollars a month. The only upside is they do have a kids room, and most other gyms around do not. It’s something that really drew my attention thin when I first came here as a new mom.

Really nice gym,, good equipment, nice atmosphere, not crowded, I went yesterday and tbis was one of my favorite gyms I’ve tried so far.

This place is not it. They will have you take PHOTOS of your credit card and the membership forms. Then they will never communicate. Go somewhere else.

They have you take a photo of your membership form with your debit card number on it, which is already shady.

On Feb. 22nd, I cancelled my membership due to better options elsewhere. I text the number you're given to send your membership form. No reply.

Imagine my shock when today (4/1/25) my card is charged. I reported it as fraud with my bank, who said it happens often with this gym it's "not the first time & won't be the last". And, got a new card after a dispute of the cost.

I was referred here by some friends, but there are better options.

My favorite location between itself and the park hills one. I enjoy coming out for a good work out here and this place just feels like an actual gymnasium. It’s not overly fancy, it has all the equipment you could want, and it’s all very user friendly on top of the normal bench presses l, bar bells etc. they also normally have a good set of tunes playing to work out too as well
