Smaller than the other Gold's in the STL Metro area, but very well maintained.  There's no sauna, basketball court or swimming pool. This "no frills" gym does have three sets of dumbbells up to 50 lbs.  Plenty of aerobics machines, but most of the electronic audio units on them are inoperative. The showers are very clean, however, they're more on the style of a 1960's high school gym.  Great place to work out though, never seems to be terribly overcrowded which means easy access to all your favorite machines.

The general manager Thomas is incredibly unprofessional. The gym is always dirty (especially the bathrooms!) and the equipment is always out of order. Don’t waste your money!

Great gym but overpriced for how small it is. It’s not as big and doesn’t have nearly the equipment and other things like the other golds gyms but it’s the same price.

I don’t know the gyms quality with the equipment but one of the managers that works there was completely rude and very inconsiderate of others. He was more concerned about himself and his “time” than actually helping out others and when something didn’t go right he was very ignorant and unprofessional.

It's a we'll equipped gym with a friendly staff BUT members rest or use their phones on equipment and no one instructs them on gym etiquette...no one told them there are others in the world

When I signed up at Gold's I was told that I needed to cancel by the 18th of the month. Went in on the 18th to cancel and guess what? "You should've come in maybe a week ago and we could have cancelled without drawing another month." I know you can take my membership out of the batch to be debited. I managed a much larger facility than any Gold's Gym and we could do that the day before it was going to be debited. The day I signed up, I was never offered an orientation or my starting point or any of the things you list as your promises. Your group ex schedule is boring. I made a complaint about your spin bikes and no one seemed to know when they ever got tuned up...even one of the instructors said your bikes were terrible. Reading some of the other comments about there never being a manager around, I can see why things are either dirty or broken. I came from another fitness organization that really offered better customer service and positive regard for everyone entering and leaving their facility. I don't think my expectations are too high. Now, I'll pay for another month of drudgery. Maybe you could donate it to a worthy cause. I've hated it for the months I was obligated and I can tell you that I will hate it for the next month that I will pay for and not go.

I love this place. So much better than other gyms. They let you lift weights and make noise. No alarms for smashing the weights too loud. Definitely truly no judgement. The staff is great and always welcoming! I love it here even on days that I don't want to work out. They care for their clients so much!

Friendly staff, guessing were the owner and manager also met the trainer. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment is clean and plenty of weights and machines. Great variety. Recommend anyone looking for a great place to lift or do cardio ;) I liked the options of the gym such as medicine balls in the one corner, floor ladders, enough cardio, plenty of different style of benches to lift. Clean locker room and shower. The facility is both well lit outside and very well lit inside and was very clean! Couldn’t say enough good things about the staff. 💪🏼✨ #mfceo #1stphorm (joke) 😉 thanks again you two!

Look, don’t be fooled by the glowing fake reviews that have been written as a rebuttal to the complaints against this gym. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. I can attest to the filth, and broken equipment. The staff that almost looks insulted that you interrupted their conversation about who got voted off the island last night, or the male janitor that just walks into the female locker room unannounced. I will never take this Kirkwood Gold’s gym seriously. You might as well join the YMCA around the corner, at least you and your family will be treated with respect.

They have some great staff there... and although the club is neither shiny nor trendy there is ample equipment to keep us gym types occupied. I stopped using the shower facility because they're pretty grim but my only real concern is the lack of a General Manager there. In my time i have seen six maybe seven people occupy that seat. Steve and Mark have been great and the rest were terrible... last week the " interim" was sat behind a closed door playing with her phone while her friend lounged in a chair next to her.

Much like Brent, I too called to cancel my membership and was charged another month. I joined when this gym was 24 Hour Fitness, and then stopped using the services a few years ago and continued paying with the hopes I would start working out again. At some point Golds Gym but 24 Hour Fitness, and they probably emailed some agreement that explained their 30 day notice policy, but I don't remember seeing it. I then moved from Kirkwood to Cape Cod, and finally called to cancel the membership in August. The woman who took my information never mentioned anything about a 30 day notice, but a week later I received a no-reply email stating I would be charged another $36 on 9/6/18, but that I could use the services through November like that will do me any good here on the Cape. I called to complain and a nice manager seemed sympathetic and pledged to help, but I had the sense I was going to see another payment deducted from my credit card, and of course I did, today. I paid hundreds of dollars to this place without entering their doors and I'm treated to one more unnecessary charge without my being able to use any of its services. The 30 day notice is nothing but an easy way to squeeze more money out of its customers. This slap in the face gets them one star.

Gold's Gym contracts are very deceitful. My contract ends on 08/19/18 however the customer support line stated I must provide a 30-Day notice to cancel. I have to pay an additional 30 days beyond my contract date! They also stated I must visit a Gold's Gym and complete documentation to cancel. They don't care that I moved in an area with No Gold's Gym and All Gold's Gyms shut down in the entire Chicagoland area. Do a quick search and it is very easy to find several customer complaints about the dirty contracts from Gold's. Go to another franchise gym! There are a lot more Anytime & Lifetime Fitness locations.

Just had the most AWFUL experience with this Kids Club at this location!! I dropped my 11, 8 and 6 year olds off at 10:40 and returned at 12:00 after my workout. Upon my return my kids were so incredibly and unusually relieved it was disturbing. The Gold's Gym employee, Sam, was by herself and said my middle daughter was not listening to her and kept screaming. I asked Sam for further details such as what was she not listening about and she couldn't give me any solid details just that she was screaming. I asked why didn't she come get me and she said because she can not leave her station. I said can't you call someone and her response was yes but she was giving her another chance and that it had just happened. I spoke to all of my kids and they all confirmed it had started almost right after I had dropped them off. They said she was telling my daughter she was so, so so rude and when another Gold's employee entered the room briefly she was pointing at my daughter and telling the other employee that she was so rude and just ridiculous. My daughter asked several times for Sam to get me because she wanted to leave and Sam refused. I find this completely unacceptable! My kids also said she was literally screaming at my daughter. I spoke to the Manager, Haley, and got the sense that it was falling on deaf ears. For 7 years we have attended Manchester Meadows and we have NEVER had an issue. My kids LOVE to go there and the employees there have watched my kids grow up and love seeing them when we come. However, we have moved and this is now our closer location. Unfortunately they are mortified at the thought of going back. I guess I will now have to drive an extra 30 minutes each time to workout or just cancel my membership.

The facilities are nice enough, but customer service is terrible beyond belief. The staff (other than the general manager) are unhelpful. The only thing they are good at is wasting your time. I went in for a “3 Day Pass” and attempted to sign up for membership on the third day. However, the front desk staff knew nothing about membership details, claiming that I would have to come back after 9:00, at which time one of only two people who could do anything about membership would get in. I mentioned that I was there on the 3 Day Pass, but the front desk person claimed to know nothing about that and merely told me to come back later. I had arrived at 8:15 and would have been able to exercise until the general manager arrived, but instead the whole pass concept was ignored and I had to waste time coming back there later in the day. Why make it difficult to sign up for membership?

Two weeks later, as part of the “BFF Day” promotion, I brought in my father, and the person at the front desk just waved him in without making him sign anything, meaning that he was not in the system and had not received the 3 Day pass that Gold’s Gym is so fond of. I then attempted to bring him in today, and was stopped by one of the staff who claimed that a guest could only be brought in once for the BFF promotion, despite the fact that this information was never mentioned. He claimed that a pass could only be given once per year. However, my father never received such a pass to begin with. Because of this poor customer service, I left the gym as well. What a complete and utter waste of time. Gold’s Gym staff only cares about passes when it is unhelpful for potential customers.

Part 1 of 2 10/1/17 my wife and myself became members of Golds Gym. 2/6/18 I became an employee. Prior to my hiring, I was told that as a perk, my wife and I would have free memberships. On or around 2/7/18, I was stopped at the front desk of the Ellisville location (where I work out regularly) that there is a freeze on my account. I told them that I was a new employee and they told me go ahead and work out it would be fixed. I them was very adamant in asking if we could go ahead and fix it at that very moment, but they told me, don’t worry, it would be handled. The freeze was placed on my acct on or around 2/1/18, but I noticed two sets of $16.33 being withdrawn from my acct. Later I was told that it was a freeze fee plus taxes (which was not supposed to have been applied). One charge of $16.33 fell off the acct., the other was reimbursed. A different charge of $31.90 was applied on or around 2/6/18, I was told that the issue would be handled. According to the MyPath acct, 3/9/18, I was charged $38.09, also on the same date I received an email from the Kirkwood location stating that my membership is at risk and they tried to debit my acct but couldn’t. I immediately addressed the issue with the GM as well as the OM of the Kirkwood location where I work and was told it would be handled. 3/10/18, I received an automated phone call from a Texas number saying that I need to take care of payment. Monday, March 12, 2018, I called that Texas number back, I was continually routed to the Manchester Meadows location. I researched another number, finally reached a live person in the Tech Department, was given a different number that was said to be Customer Relations, which again after the 6th time, routed me back to the Manchester Meadows location. I went to the Manchester location, was told that my GM had to fix it, went to the Ellisville location, was listened to by one of the managers, but was told that he couldn’t address it right away because he had a conference call that he needed to take care of. Prior to my explaining to him, I mentioned that I knew about the conference call, and I could discuss it later if it couldn’t be handled immediately, but he insisted that I waste my time again explaining the situation. Finally, I reluctantly went to my GM, which eventually got someone on the phone (regional/district manager) and it was supposed to be handled. $38.09 was refunded to my acct, then a sum of $32.66 was refunded. I don’t understand where $32.66 came from when I was charged $31.90 but hadn’t received a refund on that one. Was told that the $32.66 was a refund of the freeze fee, but remember one freeze fee fell off, and the other was refunded. Was then told not to worry about the extra $.76, just call it even. At that point I was informed that all cards were removed from my and my wife’s acct just in case again a debit tried to take place. I confirmed this with several people including as early as yesterday, 4/5/18 that there was no way that any money will be taken out of my acct.

The gym that won’t let you quit...your month-to-month contract, that is. They used the excuse that they were “out” of membership cancellation forms. They promised to cancel the next day. It’s been 2 weeks and still no answer. There is a 2 month waiting period in which you have to pay before you are no longer charged. That’s only if they are willing to accept the cancellation, which they will try not to do.

24 hour fitness was cheaper and there is no justification to raise the cost from 400 dollars for two years to 700 per year.
This place was my home away from home.

A place that used to feel like home. I joined 24 hour fitness in 2012 at the time I joined the price was roughly around 400 dollars for about a two year membership. Even though the equipment was slightly older, a quick inspection of all treadmills was required to see which one was working. The ones that do work also break frequently. For e.g. During the course of my 3 miles run the treadmill stated it had not recognized a user while running, and immediately slowed down from my normal jogging speed, a dangerous ordeal. This gym needs to do better, I'am owed a degree of safety as customer while I'm using your facility.

Despite the setbacks I still had fallen in love with the place due to large amount of free weights and compared to Planet Fitness, it was miles better especially with the inclusion of a power rack, bench press, inclined, and declined. I saw such great results at this place. The showers and lockers are very poor especially compared to planet fitness the showers are just poor, you're walking on dirty floor to access your clean clothes. People leave weights all over the place. the staff will not pick it up, even if it's a potential tripping hazard, For. E.g. numerous times I have picked up straight bars of the floor. Soon after my membership expired I signed up for another two year deal, not realizing that within short few months it will be bought over by Golds Gym.

I had originally neglected to join Golds Gym because it was largely very expensive and it didn't remain opened 24 hours on the weekends. I had bought the membership because I worked out later in the day to avoid the rush hour, now my membership of two years i paid four hundred dollars for is slowly dwindling away because their hours do not work for me, it feels so very dishonest of them.

As my membership renewal time is approaching fast, I have chosen not renew my membership, simply because 24 hour fitness was a nice middle ground between planet fitness and golds gym. Additionally and more importantly I don't see any justification for them to raise the yearly membership cost to 700 dollars per year. They have not done anything far fetched for their reasoning, personally too me it feels like I'm footing their bill for a paint job and an expensive sign.

I'm starting to see allot of people i used to workout with reluctantly joining Planet Fitness in Crestwood they could do more to keep their customers but seem content with losing them instead.

Was not my favorite gym. Like many people have said it is older with older equipment. I also called to cancel my membership, but was still being charged. When I called, they said that I had to come in to do that, even thou they would have froze my account over the phone, but I had to go in to cancel. They simply want to make it hard to cancel and hope that people do not cancel or forget to come in. I would have likely gone back over the winter month, but if billing me for an extra month is worth pissing off a customer, I will not be back

Ive been to four other Golds in St. Louis, and this is fourth on that list. Equipment is constantly broken (treadmills, stationary bikes), there are missing bench press bars, the free weight rack doesn't have the right lb. labels, so people always put weights back in wrong place, and the A/C has been broken for weeks. Its cooler outside in 90 degree humidity than inside.

I really like this particular Golds. First of all, the amount of natural light is very refreshing. I get easily intimidated at gyms, but don't feel that way here. Although there are people who could be body builders, it is never very busy so you don't have to wait to use the equipment you want. Locker rooms could use an update, but don't really care about that.

Loved this place when it was a 24 hour fitness. When it was bought by Golds I canceled my membership (or I thought I did). Golds sent me a bill next month so I called customer service and canceled my membership again. Next month another bill, and another, and another. I've called them many many times and every time they swear my membership has been canceled, yet the bills keep coming. This gym is a joke! After this months bill I was told all I can do is send a letter to corporate down in Dallas requesting they cancel my membership. THIS GYM WONT LET YOU LEAVE.
