Called to inquire about a extra 25$ on top of my regular 82$ membership Payton was very rude transfered me in the middle of our phone call to the director who isn't even in the office yet told me to leave her a message. Super rude and unprofessional half of your job is taking phone calls so don't get an attitude with the hard working people that provide your paychecks. I work for holcim, the company donates ALOT of money to this location but the facility is so out of date weight floor is cramped not sure where the money is going. I've had a lot of good experiences in this gym but this really upset me this morning. 5:50 am 2-20-25

Used to love renting the basement room out for my sonβs birthday party. It was $100 to just use the room for 2 hours but I called this year to book as usual and just thought everyone should know they raised the rate by 3.5x. $350 to rent a room. Could throw a bowling alley or family fun center birthday party for that price. Normally Iβd be like whatever but to raise the price 3.5x what it was? Crazy. Place was fine so Iβm giving it 4 stars but yall should know itβs not low income family friendly anymore just to rent a room.

When I 1st started at the YMCA, I referred to Vita (secretly to my husband) as the drill sergent. She is no joke when it comes to whipping your butt into shape.
But don't let that scare you. She is also the most compassionate person you will probably ever meet.
She loves all her clients and cares so much about their well being! And I now love her just as much!!!
Whether it is a water class such as Aquacise (she does several others also) or a Senior Sneakers class you cannot go wrong with choosing Vita as your instructor. She very knowledgeable, reliable and dependable.
I have not used my personal trainer session yet. But when I do I will definitely ask for her.
**As a side note, even though this review is intended to complement Vita for all her hard work and dedication. I also, need to add that in my experience the entire staff @ the Jeff County YMCA are pretty amazing. **

We signed up for swimming lessons. My son had to take 2 of their level 1 4 week classes ($55 each) and they did NOTHING!!! He didn't learn 1 thing from them. He already knew how to get in and out of a pool and how to jump in the pool. He needs to learn how to SWIM IN THE POOL!!!! He didn't learn 1 thing. They had them get in and out of the pool, puppy paddle (poorly) on noodles, and jump in the pool. 30 minutes lessons 4x (and he did this same class 2 times). Waste of my money and I wish I could get it back!! I'm not the only person mad. Most of his class was mad. I just wish I could get a refund for a waste of time

I have been going to the Y since they opened. When I was still teaching, I was one of the 'early birds' that arrived around 5am in the morning. It was about the same group of us, every day, and we developed a camaraderie and strong friendships. That was a great time. Since, I retired and continued to go to the Y, but not as early! My husband became very ill in 2019 and because of his illness, I didn't get there as often as before. After his death at the end of 2019 I was trying to get back into a routine of attending when the pandemic hit, and eventually the Y like many other places, was closed for a while. I wish I had pushed myself harder after it re-opened, to get in there and back into a solid routine. I maintained my membership but just didn't get in there as I should have. The adjustment of losing my husband has been difficult and looking back, getting back to the Y quicker would have been so beneficial. I am back, now, and am trying to get back into a good routine. I'm very proud of the YMCA and the service it provides our community.

My daughter attended 6 weeks of camp here this summer and she loved it! She adored her camp teachers Kathy, Lauren, both Hannah's and Destiny. The workers at drop off/pickup made everything easy and organized. She also did swim lessons while at camp and learned a lot of new skills. We will definitely be back next year for more summer camp fun! Thanks Jefferson County Family YMCA.

Iβve been a member for 7 years and will always be a member!! The childcare center and teachers are amazing with my kiddos. I love the wide variety of classes offered. I tend to take cl 2-3 classes a day, Monday-Friday- thatβs how much I love the classes and instructors. The staff is friendly, kind and knowledgeable. My daughters have taken swim lesson for years- the pool and instructors are wonderful! My girls have also played volleyball and soccer through the Y and itβs always been a great experience for us. And my oldest daughter has really enjoyed going to kids night out at the Y where she has met new friends and had a blast crafting, playing games and swimming. Iβve been going to the Y for so long that Iβve made life long friendships with some of the staff and members~ theyβre like family to me. It is nearly impossible to cancel a membership. I was in a car accident and unable to use services. Despite contacting them they still continued to charge me. This is predatory changing someone for a service they are unable to utilize. I won't be going back. The manager knew the situation and didn't do anything to help.

I been going to the YMCA for two years. I my kids enjoy the daycare and swimming but the staff and "rules" are not what they claim to be. In the daycare they do not enforce the sick rules until someone gets sick or a parent complains. Than they enforce them. I have been told my kids are not allowed back in daycare because my daughter has a runny noise. My attitude is welcome to moterhood. I have not meet a kid that does not have a runny noise six months out of the year. The staff are not friendly and seem miserable and obviously do not want to be there. I do not trust them and always ask about my childern when I pick my kids up. I do worry when my childern get a bruise or bump when they are there because the staff of the daycare make it obvious that they don't care that your child was hurt by some other kids. It seems to me that it does not matter if you take your child to YMCA or just some other day care. The difference between them and YMCA staffing is very little. I will be finding another gym.
