Staff was helpful! Grateful to be able to work out in a full gym while traveling. Nicer equipment than my local ymcas with a rep counter, nice. I liked idea that there is a place to plug in your phone by the towels within an arm or twos length so safe. Wish third floor windows had shades, very warm in sun on climber. Gym is cooler inside than the premium hotel I am staying at nearby. Friendly staff and ac makes it. Internet is very good and fast as well here. Thank you

Update: for being part of the "youth men's Christian association" this Y really laid into pride month. As soon as you walked in you were greeted by pride flags and posters of gay people. There were already a few obvious LGBT members working there and they have recently added another. This person checked me on, never looked at my face, mumbled something to me, and was looking at its phone the whole time. I understand that "everyone needs a job" and looking out for you own, but some people don't deserve to keep a job.

Update: This Y now has signs posted about no street shoes in the sauna and and athletic shoes must be worn in the gym. I am currently looking at a patron who is not wearing shoes in the gym directly in front of the aforementioned sign. A y employer just walked past this person, looked at their bare feet, and calmly walked away. Needless to say the patron did not wipe down the equipment or platform they were standing on with their bare feet.

Kirk Family Y is a great place to workout if you go at the right times. The last few times I've been there have been increasing amounts of weights not put back and or not in the right places. There are dress code rules which the staff doesn't seem to enforce, and they let people walk through the pool into the sauna wearing their sweaty workout gear and shoes. The daycare they have on sight is a wonderful feature and most of the nannies are good at their job, but it does seem that the area goes good stretches of time without being deep cleaned. Our daughter usually comes back to us with black socks and black knees on her pants.

Free, secure and plenty of parking. Staff are friendly and available. Very clean, bright and open areas to workout in. Lots of workout equipment to choose from, rarely a wait. Great walking/running track on the 4th floor for climate controlled workouts. This is a great YMCA.

Kirk Family is the best gym membership I have had and the best YMCA I have been to by faaarrr! I am so thankful for the community here and all of the amenities. I am a mom of 2 under 2 and it's the perfect place to bring my kids, get a workout in, get to the sauna and then take the kids swimming. Not to mention the group classes included with the membership. I used to dream of a membership at Life Time fitness but I would never pay the amount they ask for a family. This YMCA has all of the amenities life time offers and its new! I could go on and on about how much I love this gym.the only downside if the 4 hour window from 1-4 that the kids zone and the pool area is closed. If you don't have kids or come to gym around that time, no need to worry! You get your moneys worth here, you won't regret it!

First i will say The facility is one of a kind. They have a lot of machines. I was let down because of their closing of the sauna on sunday. I called first to make sure it was open. I called about 1pm. Got there about 140 and was informed it'll be closing in 10mins. I was going to buy a day pass just for that. A little disappointed in needing my ID to work out. I get protocol but man, needing an
ID for a guest was a little much. You come to places like this to escape the madness in the world. I'll be investing my money in our community centers that offer the same amenities.

Great morning weekday staff. They know you by name and encourage you whether you’re swimming or working out in the gym.
Pros:
Free gated parking downtown and opens at 5 a.m. during the week.
Clean, complete gym including the locker rooms.
Zero-entry pool, sauna, whirlpool, lap pool, and steam room.
Spin classes, yoga classes, free weights, water aerobics, book clubs, soccer field, basketball court, and cooking classes.

Cons:
I wish it were open later
Mid day the pool closes from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
You can’t rent the lockers monthly or weekly.
When it storms, the pool closes.

Hey the Dry Sauna is down again. I am sick, and need the hotter dry sauna to help my cardiovascular system. The wet sauna is not hot and did not meet my needs. Why is your dry Sauna not working? It helps deliver great health benefits for me, and is the main reason I have this membership. Maybe i should quit coming since I cannot seem to rely on your dry sauna being working 5 times a week. Today was simply awesome. We had Aqua Yoga. I really needed that. Since it’s kinda hard todo Yoga. Terry was fantastic. Just wish the the pool will stay open.. sometimes it’s not convenient because the pool is closed between one and four, but I think now that Covid it’s over we should have full access to the pool now. I really do love this YMCA..

I've hit the pool twice now for a veteran's aerobics class, and it's been a pleasant experience both times. Their ample parking had made finding a spot easy. The facilities have consistently been clean and inviting. The random folks I've started up conversations with in the hot tub have generally been cordial. Though I've not really seen beyond the pool, change room, and fromt desk, my experiences at the Kirk Y have been positive.

So the staff had 3 hours between 1 and 4pm to put chlorine in the hot tub to make it ready by 4 pm but as soon as we entered the pool the lady said she has just put the chlorine in it so please wait another 30 minutes.

As much as I LIVE for this location I will escalate my complaint to another entity if employees are too afraid to ask patrons NOT to use amplified devices in the workout areas instead of headphones. Visited the facility on a day pass ($15) and the staff was fantastic. Unique set up is a welcoming mix of modern and historic (building used to be a theater). Airy and open with lots of natural light adding to the feeling of cleanliness. Machines and equipment was well appointed and plentiful for my early afternoon workout, but I can't speak to the "busy" hours of operation. Locker room was smallish, and I didn't get an opportunity to sample the sauna or steam room as they close daily from 1 to 4, but I will definitely return the next time I'm in town. Great gym!

I'm really enjoying it. There is a lot of equipment to use around. The pools are nice. The track is very nice. There are 4 floors here so lots of room! Parking is on the same block with the gym. I only ride one bus there and it stops right in front of the building. So that is very convenient for me. Lots of fitness classes are available on a daily basis. There are options to stream classes too, I have not checked in on that, not sure if it's included with my membership. But that sounds great if you can't make it to class for whatever reason! The hours are a little shorter than I'd like, but decent. I wish they were open longer on the weekends, but I guess most of us are busy on the weekends anyway! Locker rooms and changing rooms are very clean too! Lots of places to sit and study out read as well.

Best gym ive ever been to. Highly recommend. Super friendly staff. They gave me a free tour. And I just loved the gym. Awesome environment. Pool is amazing. I was surprised they had an area just for kids. you can leave them there while you work out. And they will have fun. I got a membership and I dont regret it. The only negative thing I can say about the gym is that the parking has a three hour limit and if you exceeded that limit you have to pay around $35. but other than that I recommend this gym I love it and I have felt super comfortable working out here. Definitely worth the membership.

The staff is super friendly and upbeat. The facility has a wide variety of equipment & group classes.
Highly recommend Brynn as a personal trainer! Her expertise has increased my technique & gains.
Occasionally, cooling issues in a few of the class rooms but that has not affected the rest of the gym.

I love the building style - one that you wouldn't expect a gym to be in but the architecture is so refreshing. Every single instructor and staff person has been so courteous and patient as I'm new back into the gym. Main reason for one star is that I was not made aware they would attempt to charge $125 when canceling. Front desk could not assist and told me to email the director - who didn’t respond to two emails. Eventually someone answered and told me to call back in 15 minutes, after doing so they finally canceled. This prolonged my cancelation and despite canceling on September 1st, they still charged me for the entirety of that month.

With the difficulty in canceling, really not worth ever considering going back. I certainly wouldn’t think about it if you just need a short term membership.

I will say it's a clean facility with most of what you would need. Hours are pretty bad, closing pretty early most days which does not work well for those of us who may not get out of work until 6 some days.

I love traveling around the country and visiting different YMCA's. This one is a must see! Set right down down Kansas City the building has been renovated and looks and feels inviting.

The amenities were incredible, including the steam room and sauna. The gym had everything we needed for our workout and the staff was friendly.

This location is very clean and seemingly managed well. Hope I get to go back soon!

For a gym that supports diversity and inclusivity within their social media platforms and in-person, their employees surely lack respect and kindness towards Muslims. Being told to change my clothes, due to it not suiting the "westernised" bathing suit is incredibly discriminatory and rude. Not to mention, I was informed of this issue in such a rude tone. There's no need to have Muslims being highlighted on your pages or within your entrance if you cannot respect their dress-code. I do not pay 48 dollars for a membership where I am ignored and discriminated against.

There are some serious miss management issues with the swimming pool of this facility... Within two weeks, the pool is closed due to shortage of staff... 1st time they just got everyone out of it because the life guard had to go & the next in the shift is not coming.... They just could not pay some money to outgoing guard as overtime to keep the facility open..... And today is the second time that the pool is closed because the life guard is on the way... This is really frustrating....

People are coming all the way from the work places just to know that pool is closed... At least have a automated email system set up to let people know that the facility is closed..

Love this facility, top notch, bright, new equipment. My only issue is the dress code. Im a woman and am absolutely tired of seeing other women with short shorts on. I understand we all have different body shapes but i had the unfortunate experience of having to look at a young woman with shorts so short they may as well have been underwear. Enforce the dress code and make it clear that tbis will not be tolerated.
