Best powerlifting gym in St Louis! I've lifted in many powerlifting gyms and this is by far the best gym I've been to. It contains: five power racks, five combo racks, strongman equipment and tons of dumbells and many other pieces of equipment. It is always very clean! Something that's hard to come by in many non-commercial gyms.

Exceptional place to workout. Steve is extremely knowledgeable; an excellent trainer. The vibe of this place certainly lives up to it's name as you will be motivated to put in Max Effort every workout. Very supportive atmosphere with the veterans offering assistance to the newbies. Highly recommended.

I’ve been with Max Effort gym for about a year now and can confidently say that it is the best gym I’ve been a part of. They have a bunch of powerlifting and strongman oriented equipment to help you reach whatever goals you have, but if the wide range of equipment doesn’t help, the people there will. Steve and Ben definitely know there stuff, and everyone else at the gym is always willing to help.

Been going here since August or September of 2020, and it’s the best gym I’ve ever been a part of. If you are looking to get stronger, healthier, and more fit, this is the place to go. It’s more strongman and powerlifting oriented, but they have the best two coaches around. Definitely worth everything and then some of what it costs.

I can vouch for content of all the positive reviews. Superb facility and equipment, and even better people. If you don't know what programming is, then you'll find excellent coaches that will make you stronger and fitter. If you already know what your doing, you'll have what you need. You can find a unique and strong sense of community if you go there with an attitude to train and improve.

Max Effort is a one of a kind facility that not only has the best equipment but also the best people. Everyone is very friendly and encouraging to each other which makes an awesome environment that's exciting to train in. Although power-lifting is the specialty, Max Effort also has the equipment to support other strength sports such as Olympic weightlifting, strong man, cross-fit, Highland games, and general health and fitness. The experience and knowledge here is world-class as you can learn things here that you can't learn from books or articles from the Internet.

If you're looking for a gym that puts performance first, this is it. Steve, the owner, is there everyday pushing everyone to be their best. The atmosphere and camaraderie amongst the members elevates this gym to the best in STL. Racks, platforms, farmer's carry, prowlers, ropes, bands, wraps, ammonia, the list goes on and on, this gym has it all.

Max Effort Strength and Conditiong is HANDS DOWN the best gym in St. Louis to reach your fitness goals. The owner, Steve, is one of the most passionate and knowledgeable men I have met when it comes to powerlifting and strength and conditioning. The place has all the equipment you need and Steve is always add g fun new stuff to train with. From the first day I walked in here, the atmosphere alone sold it for me. All the members are friendly and willing to help. Steve will greet every member with a hand shake and “hey, how’s it going” and I couldn’t think of another place to get powerlifting programming.

I have been attending Sarah's class at Max Effort for almost a year. In that short time, my fitness level and overall strength have improved significantly. Further, my legs, stomach, and arms are leaner and more toned. Sarah's class is different each time I attend-- it is always challenging, fresh, and fun.

Since I started training with Steve 2 years ago, I have increased all of my lifts by probably 50%. I worked out for 10 years before that and didn't gain more than 10%. Steve knows how to customize a program for all types. I swore it was impossible for me to actually have a chest due to my genetics, Steve has helped to prove that wrong. I am also a half marathoner. Steve has helped me to improve my time with power lifting, showing that you can mix power lifting and distance running effectively. Thanks Steve for all you have done for me!!

Thanks to Sarah and her classes I can honestly say I am in the best shape of my life. I had been running for years and not seeing a lot of results, I decided to change my workout completely and started the strength and conditioning classes at Max Effort. It has been hard work but the payoff is worth it, swimsuit season is right around the corner!!

Training with Steve has changed my body and my life. I used to be an endurance athlete who competed in an Ironman distance triathlon as well as many marathons but after years of pounding, my knees decided that they no longer wanted to cooperate. After having my fourth child, I was beside myself trying to determine a way to lose the weight without my normal 'go to' routine of running my body into the ground. I decided to start training with Steve at 4 weeks postpartum and have not only lost almost all of the weight but have a different body shape. I train with weights now more than I do cardio and am feeling stronger and more self confident than ever! I highly recommend Steve and Sarah!
