You need to check out Abby at NKC Pilates ! Both my husband and I have been doing Pilates there. It’s almost removed all my husband’s back pain. Abby has the knowledge, experience, professional equipment to help make positive changes in your health. She’s patient, thorough in explaining the instructions and why it is helpful to your body. Abby is extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented in her approach to Pilates training. Best one on one Pilates studio! I was so nervous because I had never done Pilates and am too nervous to do a big class at a standard studio. Abby immediately made me feel comfortable with her calming energy and ability to explain everything. She curates each session to what I need that day. It’s the highlight of my week and I feel so much better.
I tried for months to get my stubborn husband to try since he’s got major knee issues. Finally, he agreed to just come and see what it was about. Abby was so accommodating in letting him come to my session, ask questions, and explained what the benefit of each movement does. It WORKED and he goes every week. He raves about how much better his knee has been feeling. You will NOT be disappointed!!

Extremely great solo pilates classes. My wife convinced me to go, and its been great. Abby is extremely knowledgeable and works with many people that have weightlifting background, so she is well versed in translating pilates to meathead and how you should think about the movements. Feels more like physical therapy than anything, which is exactly what i needed.

I cannot say enough great things about Abby! I found NKC Pilates after a couple of frustrating experiences at a franchise pilates studio - the instructors were inexperienced, which led to injuries.
Working with Abby, especially considering her 20+ years of experience and expertise, has been transformative to my Pilates practice and incredibly beneficial to both my mental and physical health.
All of our sessions are customized to exactly what my body needs, which is a huge advantage when working with a 1-on-1 instructor.
As a downtown KC resident, getting to the studio is an easy 15 minute drive. I can confidently say that NKC Pilates is the best pilates studio in North Kansas City!

Update (one year later): I am still training with Abby once a week and it has made such a difference in my life! I have been able to go on long hikes with my family, try water skiing, and just generally be more active without dealing with constant knee pain!
I cannot say enough good things about working with Abby! I came to her with a very weak core and pelvic floor and an injured knee. She is so knowledgeable about the body and how to accommodate and build up your weak areas. She will work with you to get you back to 100% and modifies things to make sure you're comfortable. I have gotten much stronger and really like using the reformer machine.
As a person, Abby is so positive, insightful and a great communicator! My time with her is a bright spot in my week. I can't recommend her enough!

In my mind, I'm not a typical Pilates client. I'm out of shape and I don't have cute, fancy workout outfits. But Abby has created such a safe space that I don't worry about those things. I can focus on learning new ways to make my body stronger, decompressing from life stresses, and leaving each session feeling better than when I walked in. She does a great job of helping me understand each movement and is patient if I struggle to get it right. She is also friendly and funny so we definitely gets some laughs in each time. I'm only just getting started, but I think this might be the best decision I've made for myself this year. :)

If you’re looking for a pilates instructor, look no further! I was hesitant and intimidated by pilates, but with Abby’s guidance, I haven’t looked back and actually increased from once a week to twice a week. Abby is fabulous!! She really pays attention to your form! As we all know form is everything in exercise!! Hire Abby - here's why: I don't like gyms and have never held a regular workout schedule, I'm a 55 yo male that likes to think I'm athletic and knows he is not in shape.
