The classes are fun, but also a good workout. Jennifer incorporates lots of stretching at the beginning and end and with her PT background provides lots of information about alternative movements and minimizing any injury risk.

I've been taking Laura's classes at Open Studio Pilates for over 5 years now. What keeps me coming back is how fit it keeps me and how good I feel. Laura keeps it interesting with a new theme of movement combinations each week.

Laura with Open Studio Pilates is amazing! I am an equestrian and also recovering from a back injury and Laura has helped tailor the workouts to fit my needs. I had never done Pilates before so I wasnβt sure what to expect, but right when you walk in the studio is spotless and welcoming. Laura is educated and kind but pushes you to become stronger within your limits. Iβm looking forward to my next class to learn more and more about Pilates and gain strength. After just one class my back felt less tight and rigid, I canβt wait to see what a couple months will do!

I have had Laura as a pilates teacher for 10 years! She has developed her own style of instruction that is so clear, precise and fun at the same time. She always makes me laugh. I highly recommend Laura as an instructor to get the most out of Reformer pilates. Her classes are excellent for fitness & for healing & recovery.

05-09-2019 Update: It has been 2 or 3 years and I still love Laura and her classes! I've had a baby and Laura has been great and amazingly supportive in getting me back to "normal".
Laura puts so much thought and effort into her classes. I've been coming to her classes twice a week for more than a year now...and I have never had the same experience twice! Not only that, but she really watches to make sure your alignment is correct - which has been really useful for me in combating sore joints.
04-27-2018 update: This is my third year now?? I've lost track...but Laura continues to keep things new and fresh. She still checks on me and my form. The more I learn about pilates the more challenging it becomes. It never gets old.

I love Open Studio Pilates! I started coming here when Laura first opened the doors 7 years ago, if that tells you anything. When I returned to the area, one of the first things I did was to start booking my classes. Laura puts a lot of thought into her group classes and makes sure that things never become routine, stale or boring. She keeps the classes small (7), and pays attention to the needs of each individual student. You can tell she loves what she does, and she's very knowledgable and precise with the movements. You won't be disappointed

My satisfaction with Pilates, Laura, and Open Studio Pilates continues to be unwavering. You absolutely cannot find a better form of exercise or a better environment and relationship with an instructor than right here. Do your body a favor and join the classes at Open Studio Pilates.

The testimony below was written a year ago, and I continue to find my Pilates experience at Open Studio to be exceptional. If you want to invest in a healthier body, better posture, flexibility, and strength and do so in a pleasant and encouraging environment, this is the place!

Pilates is, without a doubt, the best exercise for toning, strength, and posture and Laura is one of the best instructors you could find! I have done Pilates for 7 years now (four years in CO and now 3 years with Laura) and credit it for reshaping my body, keeping me healthier, and improving my posture. It is agelessβfor both the young and old and anyone in between. Laura is always congenial, well prepared, gracious, and creative in her teaching. The studio is spotless, maintained with the same care Laura shows her clients. You absolutely could not find a better place for Pilates instruction!

Laura is a fantastic teacher. She is incredibly knowledgeable about Pilates and does a great job of translating that to her students. I really enjoy taking Laura's classes because, even in a group of 6, she still finds ways to tailor her instruction to your strength and abilities. She is encouraging and motivating!

Individual attention, small classes, a great workout, and a caring instructor are what you get at Open Studio Pilates. I have never been one to exercise on a regular basis but I have been attending classes here for over a year. It is never boring. The classes are always interesting; Laura goes to continuing education and comes back with new ways for us to work on the equipment. Friendly people in the classes and a really clean studio make it a great place to go. Laura is always encouraging and makes accommodations if you need it for a back issue, etc.

I have been taking pilates with Laura since Sept. 2011. I continue to maintain my flexibility which is important to me and continue to love having Laura as an instructor. She is a warm, friendly person and continues to maintain a clean and "looks brand new" facility.

October 2015 - I am still at Open Pilates with Laura! Still think it is the best thing ever! I don't dread going to exercise; I look forward to it and that is the key for me to continue. The studio continues to be clean and "look like new" or I would not be here! Laura makes it fun!

5th year anniversary with Laura! I am amazed to still be doing reformer pilates. Laura's studio still looks new and she keeps exercising fresh. There is a new theme each week and the second day each week is not the same routine as the first day of the week so I am never bored. Laura has a gentle, firm, yet fun loving manner of teaching! I keep telling people, you should try pilates!

After years of mat pilates, a colleague convinced me to give the reformer a try at Open Studio Pilates. I started in January, and I'm hooked! Laura's weekly themes and variations keep all of us engaged and interested -- all while strengthening and stretching. It's my favorite way to start the day!

Laura has been exceptionally supportive in my journey to become leaner and healthier. Pilates has been a key part of my health plan in the past year (I've lost 120 pounds!!!). I feel my body grow longer and stronger with each workout. Laura is nurturing and calming and I wouldn't want any other instructor.

Open Studio is great for everyone from the Pilates beginner to the advanced student. Laura's approach is deeply rooted in classic Pilates, but she incorporates elements from evolving practice and continuing professional education into her classes. Her commitment to keeping class fresh is obvious through the care she takes in developing new class plans--never a dull moment! She helps students customize the regimen in accordance with their needs, and gives positive, detailed feedback to optimize student performance. Come check out this airy, impeccably clean studio and your mend and body will thank you for it.

Laura is a wonderful teacher with a unique perspective who understands the balance of exertion and relaxation within each exercise session. Yes, pilates is challenging, but it can also be relaxing, and this is what makes Laura's classes unique. I always leave feeling energized and refreshed.

Laura's classes are well organized, fun, and a great workout. In particular, Laura explains exactly what we are doing and why, and then makes sure that each student is doing the exercise correctly and appropriately for age and any particular physical limitations. Laura is very well trained in various Pilates techniques and stays abreast of current developments. Classes are small with an emphasis on personal attention. I can't recommend Open Studio highly enough!

Before taking private lessons, I was struggling with severe ankle and shoulder pain after years of constant injury, along with the onset of acute scoliosis... After being a client of Laura's for only 6 months I am excited to announce that these problems are no longer dominating my life. Unlike many other instructors, Laura is constantly taking great efforts in staying cutting edge in an industry where many others seem to stagnate in knowledge and equipment. After every session, I walk out feeling prouder and prouder of my progress and body's ability. I have attended countless reformer-pilate classes around Columbia, and even bigger cities, and it is safe to say that Open Studio Pilates is the best of the best!

Laura is a skilled and warm instructor. I started taking pilates to help stretch out my back, and I stayed for the community and mindful class. I look forward to pilates, enjoy the entire class, and feel calm and refreshed after. It's not boot camp, it's not about reps or washboard abs, it's about feeling good in your body and challenging yourself at your own pace. You'll change your body in the process, but if it's not about the process itself, then what's the point?

I started at Open Studio Pilates in January with the $99 introductory package (two individual sessions + two classes), and I'm really glad I did. The studio is open, inviting, and centrally located. A few classes later, and I already feel stronger; I know my posture is better. I especially appreciate Laura's attention to details, her gentle instructions, and her steady encouragement. Fifty minutes fly by, and I don't begrudge any sore muscles the day after class. I plan to continue for quite some time.

Just an update from my previous review. I have been out of Pilates for a year after becoming pregnant and I have missed it so much. I have missed Laura and the studio and I am so excited to get back into it. I defintely saw results last time and I am excited to see results again!
(previous review)
Laura is the best and her studio is perfect! I had looked around town for a Pilates studio or teacher that just spoke to me and Laura was it. I have wanted to do Pilates in a studio on a reformer for awhile now, especially after having a baby. I have done mat work in the past, but will probably never go back now. If you're just a little interested or a lot interested, I believe her studio is the best. I have already seen results and I haven't been there that long. Love it!!!

Open Studio Pilates is awesome. The space is super clean, the equipment meticulously maintained, and the teacher always has something new to challenge the class. This is my first experience with Pilates and I look forward to it every week. Great way to increase strength and flexibility. The routines keep your mind engaged so you forget about all the stuff you were worrying about when you walked in the door. So it's a great stress break as well.

I have a back injury, and Laura always remembers this and will customize moves to ensure I can get the most out of the workout. The studio is clean and cute, and she is a real professional. Laura, former retail clothing store manager, former coffee house manager, former paralegal assistant who decided that taking Pilates' classes was something she liked and reasoned that it could be her 5th career-jump states on her website:: "awarded full comprehensive pilates instructor certification through Balanced Body University". The Balanced Body education program offers an assessment-based certificate of completion, not a Pilates Certification. The Balanced Body assessment-based certificate program is a relatively short, non-degree granting program that provides instruction and training. Participants receive certificates of completion at the end of the program hours by taking an open-book examination. Participants are not required to complete the program in its entirety. However, if a participant does complete the entire program and passes a written examination, HE OR SHE IS NOT CERTIFIED TO TEACH PILATES, only a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION is given. Training hours for COMPLETION: 150, that's 8, weekend courses, no prior experience or relative education or anatomy, kineslogy or movement of any kind.
I you like an instructor who stands in front of your group class and reads from note cards, then this is truly a place for you.
