Front desk is pretty helpful. Just make sure you are aware of their policies which they do not make a secret of, otherwise you could end up mad about something that's actually your fault. The workouts are fun and motivating, you won't like every instructor so be patient and try different instructors because you will find at least a couple who you really like. Some instructors are more hands-off than others so if you're someone who takes corrections and critiques personally then find someone more hands-off. I personally really like corrections so I really like Missy. These workouts are great if you like variety.

All the coaches and front desk staff are very friendly and coaches do pay attention to you individually and will correct your movements in the nicest way! Love my OTF coaches! Friendly and fun while whipping me into shape. I also like having the option of both βregularβ classes (run row weight) as well as Lift classes, my new favorite. Another plus is the freedom to choose my pace - aggressive if I want it or take it a little easier if the body needs it.

It's just about as perfect as a workout can be, for me. I LOVE knowing that I have actually done something that is tangible for my health (knowing my splat points). Before, I would have definitely stopped working as hard right when I got to the orange zone, because that's when it gets really hard, and still assumed I was doing great. This way I know that I am actually doing great. It takes working out and even wanting to workout, to a different level of motivation.

I really enjoy working out at Orangetheory Fitness in Columbia. I used to be a runner and was quite active until 2002, when I I suffered a massive brain aneurysm. After a lot of neuropsychological training, physical and occupational therapy, I left the rehab hospital being able to walk with ankle foot orthotics (AFOs) and crutches. Earlier this year, my wife and I joined OTF to try to increase our cardiac training. Since starting OTF, I have become stronger, and was even able to 'jog' on the treadmill without my AFOs! I love working out here because of the excellent coaching (Jaime is an awesome coach), the clientele (we have our 'regular Thursday evening class members) and great equipment. I highly recommend OTF!

Unfortunate experience. I was in town for one day and class was to start at 5:45 and I arrived at 5:26 (due to an accident on the highway that I explained) and they advised I was too late for class. 19 minutes early. The associate JAMIE said I was too late and her counter part advised that I could still register as a βdrop inβ and she still said no. This is mainly because of the reason that I was visiting from out of town and like they told me on the phone βsince Iβm from out of town they know Iβd never sign up with them therefore I will not get the first class freeβ. I am an advocate for working out and gyms and the turn away I received here was mortifying after driving for 40 mins in bumper to bumper traffic. Very unfortunate for OT Columbia...

There is a good amount of guidance without being overbearing. I like how they turn up the music when we do an 'all out'. I really like the little heart rate monitor you can wear on your lower arm - way less annoying than the one that goes around your chest. I like being able to see my stats on the screen the whole time, and sort of compete with everyone else - but I didn't feel pushed to compete if I didn't want to.

Each coach pays attention to detail in and out of the workout provided! They have invested in who I am outside of Orangetheory, which makes all the difference. The membership is worth the money 100% and I would encourage anyone to sign up! Even though it's nationwide, Columbia's studio is my favorite.

Super inviting and engaging. Coaches are motivating and make the workout fun. Easy to get a great workout in as well, because the heart rate monitor helps you gage how hard you are pushing yourself.
This place is more geared towards women though. Class was 97% female. The exercises were what I would call CrossFit lite. Doesn't mean it won't smoke you if you push yourself though!
They will let you try for free, so if you're trying to find the right fit for you, then you might as well give it a try. Make an event out of it and go with a friend or significant other. Get a great workout with someone and scout out a gym at the same time.

It was a HARD workout which I wanted, but I think that's the product of being able to work at the speed you want. I like the equipment, everything seems top of and line, in work order, and clean. the music was good, the coach was very helpful and definitely felt like she was paying attention. I only knocked off 1 star since it's a little pricey, but seems like it will be worth it!

I had not been to a gym or worked out in many years so was nervous about joining Orangetheory. I have friends and colleagues in other cities that highly recommended it so I thought I'd give it a try. So glad I did and am impressed with my progress since the studio opened. I like that the workout varies every day. I never know what to expect which keeps things interesting. The coaching staff is amazing. They keep the class exciting and I have no idea how they remember everyone's names. Actually, all of the staff is great. I feel like this studio is a small community which makes it more enjoyable to go to.

My wife was so excited to attend her first class and showed up 10 minutes early at a 730 am class.
Sherri who works the front desk (badly at that) told my wife that she wasn't allowed to attend class because she needed to be there 30 minutes early to fill out a piece of paper and meet the trainer.
My wife told her she had worked out at previous classes in Florida, but to no avail, she wasn't even allowed to fill out the paperwork in preparation for her next class. There was 1 other person waiting for the class to start.
I contacted the front desk staff to communicate my frustration with the handling of this situation whereupon Sherri disputes every point I made without once offering an apology. I gave Sherri a piece of my mind and we were later contacted by a manager that night apologizing for the misunderstanding.
Too little too late, my wife now attends pure barre and loves it. I recommend you avoid a business that handles first time customers in this manner as it is a sure reflection of the management and quality of classes offered here.

I really value my Orangetheory membership despite how tough each class is. I consistently feel great after my class and notice an increase in my energy level and appetite that stays long after my workout session. I work weekdays and attend class once a week in the evening but I find myself wanting to drop in on the weekends now too. The staff is really nice and knows me by name. It's a small aspect of the workout experience, but when I call the front desk or walk in the door it makes me feel very welcome and glad to keep going.
The classes are well programmed and I would recommend this class for beginners and experienced athletes, both.

You'll get a great workout at OTF, but the major downsides are that it's expensive, and in addition to the membership fee, you get charged an additional fee EVERY instance you are late, or life happens and you have to late cancel your registration. It's also inconvenient. You can't workout whenever you want. You have to schedule, and there aren't always classes when you want them. Really, its business model is best for upper middle class stay-at-home moms who don't have young children, and young single people.
