I don’t usually post reviews whether it be positive or negative however, I feel this needs attention. Today I called Planet Fitness the Broadway location in Columbia because I noticed two unusual charges from Planet Fitness on my credit card account. The girl who answered the phone ( I’m saying girl because that’s how she acted was like a child) first told me the charges were because they tried to charge my card for the last three months but it didn’t go through. I told her that was incorrect because I have proof from my statement to say otherwise. So then she proceeds to tell me they were late fees for both my husband and myself. My credit card they had on file was compromised so the bank shut it down before they were able to charge November dues for both me and my husband. However, they had a second card on file and charged that card my dues plus $20 each in (VALID) late fees. The toddler manager Brandon hopped on the call and basically told me there was nothing he could do not to mention his very unprofessional attitude towards me. I’m not gonna lie, I was upset because this is ridiculous to be charged $40 in late fees when they had a backup card on file of which they were able to get their payment. He said that’s not what the backup card is for? Ok, then what is it for and why did you charge it?! I was told that payment was four days late and that’s why the late fees. If it had been 3 days late then no late fees. Well they had my card and could’ve charged it when the other card failed but Planet Fitness waited till the fourth day in my opinion so they could charge me the ridiculous late fees. Toddler Brandon said there was nothing he could do. I called the corporate headquarters and while on hold listened to a message telling me for charges and anything about my bill it’s better to speak to the manager of the location where I have a membership. That they have the authority to fix the problem. However, toddler Brandon would not because he said the charges are (VALID). When I heard that I immediately called back and the girl who I spoke to first answered the phone and I think recognized my number and answered laughing and when I asked to speak to toddler Brandon he too was having a good chuckle I believe at my expense. Needless to say, my husband drove over right away and canceled his membership and I canceled mine online. I guess Planet Fitness doesn’t care who they hire. At least not at this location because if they did, I feel they would hire mature people who have better customer service skills to handle customers when they are upset and not infuriate them more by their snarky comments and rude attitude towards them. Grow up Brandon and learn to be a better Manager.

10/15/25 Follow up to last review. Nothing any better with this place. Same issues and none of the staff pay attention to the members so it doesn't surprise me. Shouldn't have to continue to complain to staff or managers about an issue when they have been told.

Not a bad place to work out if you don't mind a few of the people that like to intimidate with dirty looks or the 2 or 3 pieces of equipment they mark so no one will use it.. Started working out in the mornings a few months ago as the other times of the day I tried it was taking longer waiting to use equipment. Guess I was not thinking that one person would be the issue. That one person likes to put his towels, hat or whatever else he has as a marker on the different equipment to keep others from using it. He does this all while he speed walks around the gym. This morning I watched him mark 3 different machines while he walked around the gym. (I see this every time ) He had others marked but spent most of his time just one. This lasted almost 45 minutes that no one could use them. If he wants a machine you are on he will stand in front of you and just stare until you get off of it. I watched him do this to another member just yesterday. Pretty rude and intimidating I would say.
The 1 staff member I am sure wouldn't say anything even if you said something.
They don't seem to enforce many of the rules of their gym I have noticed anyway.

I travel the country daily visiting different PF’s along the way. This PF checked all the boxes. Functioning equipment, clean environment including clean locker room and the music was at a reasonable volume. Not so loud you can’t think about what set you’re on. Lol. Thanks PF

I have been using this location for more than a year. It's a great place, very very clean and everybody is pretty cool. The red light full body enhancement is amazing, great results. I wonder if the management has changed recently though. It used to be the policy, it seems, to say hello and goodbye to everybody, but now staff are always on their phones and it's hard to get their attention if you need something. Things are broken, like the leg part of the massage chair, or one of the women's showers had no hot water. Just little details seem off..great gym and great price though.

The facility there is mostly up to date with the equipment, not that it was necessary, and the staff are very nice when contacted. However, it is also understaffed making the place feel unmanaged for people making a nuisance, an example being the alarm never rings for people being annoying.

I’ve come to this planet fitness for several years now, through fighting my way back from ACL recovery as well as many other life events, I can honestly say that I looked forward to coming in and being greeted by smiling faces every morning in a place where I feel completely secure to utilize the many options available for stress relief, relaxation, and building body strength and knowing that I have the support of a team environment that’s always encouraging.

🚚No place to park if you have a truck and trailer. If bobtailing then there are spots available in the front. I was able to park there and not have any trouble. Plenty of food places in walking distance🚚

I have been working out here ever since school started in August and I have loved every time I walk in to this location. The workers are very welcoming and are there for you if you need any assistance. They always tell my friends and I to have a good workout. Also the bathrooms are always very clean, would recommend going to this location.

Starting 2025 with a positive change was hard. Being recommended to Planet Fitness by my two daughters that have been going for a long time has changed my entire prospective on a gym. It used to be a 24-hour gym. But since the pandemic they have had very limited hours comparatively. Do they have cut back the hours significantly they have not cut back the price. I've kind of felt screwed ever since. As far as a gym goes on its own they have a pretty good selection of workout equipment and they keep the place pretty clean. It would be great if they had a steam room or a sauna at least but they just have a locker room which is fairly decent as well. The Southside location is far nicer. The south side has the lay down HydroMassage beds for the Black card members of which I am one and I think it is totally worth it if you're going to pay to pay for the black card. But honestly if they don't go back to being 24 hours I am going to be looking for another gym because that was the main reason I joined the gym in the first place. I have been asking them if and when they're going to go back to the regular hours and no one seems to know or care. My guess is they are saving money by being closed all those hours so they don't want to go back to what they promised when I joined the gym. It's not really any different anywhere else though I seem to feel ripped off most everywhere these days. Either inflation or shrinkflation everywhere. It is at least spacious inside though and the staff is mostly friendly though there seems to be different people working every week. They literally have not retained a single employee from when I first started going a few years ago. It doesn't look too good when a business can't keep any employees. I've been a member there for more than 5 years and I think the longest they've kept an employee around is maybe four or five months. There was one guy that stayed for about a year but for the most part people don't stick around. I guess the employees feel just as ripped off as I do. They keep sending me surveys asking how they can do better and every time I say the same thing. GO BACK TO 24HRS YOU CHEAPSKATES!
Update: Finally cancelled my membership. If I do get another gym membership it will probably be at crunch fitness because they are 24 hours at least during the week and have everything and quite a bit more than planet fitness does for the same price

Friendly helpful staff, Zach has been fantastic to work with whenever we needed help getting a fitness plan and learning the equipment, as well as just having questions or bringing a guest. The facility is unbelievably clean from the gym and equipment to the lockers and the bathrooms. Super inexpensive and many cool extras like tanning and massage chairs. Perfect gym for myself and my 14 year old.

Rating this two stars because it’s affordable and a fifth of the time I don’t observe staff doing wild stuff (all the young kids who work there are great btw). However, I constantly have seen an older guy who I think may be a manger come up to young women and talk, even with their headphones on. Today, an older male personal trainer showing a woman around came up to me (a woman in my twenties) and another woman while we were doing weights for our hips (legs wide out, in a vulnerable position) and said, “you’re on camera, we’re going to watch you.” This is extremely unacceptable. I’m shocked there isn’t training on respecting boundaries, especially considering it was two o’clock and 80% of the machine were WIDE OPEN. If you’re a woman trying to figure out what gym to go to, maybe consider the ARC. I’m thinking of switching. Ge better, Planet Fitness. It’s giving predatory.

Also, go back to being open 24/7! We are past the pandemic, and your hours are insanely ridiculous. If it’s up to each owner—take the hint! So many people have complained. Open until 8 in the weekend? Even midnight would be a great compromise. Thinking of reporting these things to corporate.

And they greet you coming in the door and wish you a nice day as you leave. That has nothing to do with why I go there, but is a BONUS.
There's a wide variety of equipment (machines, free weights, bands, ...) as well as massage chairs and hydromassage beds and loungers.
I believe they're a little short staffed and stretched a little thin and KUDOS to those that make it work. I hope they're justly compensated.
I've had trouble logging in a couple of times (my own fault) but whoever is there was prompt to help rectify the situation.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean environment. I worked with personal trainer to get started. Trainer asked pertinent questions regarding my current fitness activities as well as my health and fitness goals, then presented overview of planned workout and expected progression. Had a chance to do an abbreviated run through of workout with instruction on machines, proper form, and focus areas. I like having a plan in place!

I wish they were still open and staffed 24 hours. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have a large assortment of cardio equipment weight machines and free weights. The 30 minute circuit is also great. Fitness training and classes are available and included with your membership if you choose to make an appointment. I Love the perks for Black card members, the hydro massage and massage chairs are heaven after your workout. They also have stand up and traditional tanning beds as well. Only drawback to this location is limited parking if they could find a way to improve this it would be 5 stars! Don't hesitate if you're on the fence, it's great and you can't beat the price.

Front desk folks are friendly. Gym clean. Shower was clean. I really like the location of the shower. Good for privacy. Also thanks for the black chairS. Otherwise there is nowhere to put your stuff. I pulled the tractor and trailer in. If you stay after around 1000-1100, it will be hard to get out of the parking lot due to the 4wheelers and school bus

Everyone at Planet Fitness is there to help you. From the front desk help greeting you when you arrive and when you leave, to the floor attendants who answer any questions you might have about machines.
The machines are clean and you are encouraged by staff to wipe down before and after each use.
I love their massage bed and their infrared system.
I like having the flexibility to invite a non-member under my membership plan.
I recommend Planet Fitness.
