Unclean and unsafe. We tried a few classes and the quality just wasn’t there. The pool was dirty and had paint chipping into it. We expected better. What a waste of city resources.

Enjoyable experience. We sat in the lounge and played cards. Quiet and cool. Made a couple requests to the employees and received courteous responses

We've been coming to the Renaud center for years now. It's a fun spot to bring the family on a rainy or winter day. We love the big indoor pool. We've also had several birthday parties for our kids there. All have been great experiences. We really like this place and are happy to have it nearby.

First and possibly last time visiting after witnessing such careless and dangerous acts by lifeguards and our poor overall experience.

TLDR: The pool and its staff is poorly mismanaged and the direct actions of a lifeguard cause injury to a child that resulted in a 911 call and complete shut down of the pool. No lifeguard that witnessed the incident (at least 4 of them) cared to intervene or even talk to the effected family. Gross negligence at its core.

For those who want to know more:

We traveled about 30 minutes to come to the Renaud pool on Memorial Day. The holiday pool hours were 11:00 - 3:30. We arrived at 11:05 and were told at the front desk that "they forgot to schedule life guards and they are calling them now and it will be up to 1 hr." Since we traveled and were meeting friends, we decided to wait it out. When we went inside to wait, we learned our friends (with a newborn and toddler) were not even informed of the late opening, but they had already paid so they had no choice but to wait. Thankfully, by ~11:30, there were enough guards to open the pool, with the exception of the slide. By 12:00, they were able to open the slide. Within the first few minutes, I made a comment to my friend that "they are wasting no time sending those kids down the slide" as they were sending them down in rapid succession. At one point, there were up to 3 kids at the bottom of the slide trying to get out of the wading area, that's how fast the guard was sending them down. And sure enough, ~12:20 there was an incident. The guard sent down an approximately 7 year old boy, followed by a very large man (think body builder). And he came down right on top of the child. The man searches for the kid under the water and then pulls him up. The child is in hysterics and in pain. No guard EVER came to the bottom to check on them or the situation, despite all of them staring at them. The dad gets his son out of the pool, chats with the man who came down the slide, and STILL the guards are just staring at them at a distance. The father took the kid to the guard office where they then had the child sit in a chair with a lifeguard behind him, stabilizing his head/neck, and only then did they call EMS. Due to the incident, they had everyone leave the pool and instructed everyone to wait in the family locker room. We weren't wasting any time, we were actively rounding up 4 small children, their water toys, goggles, clothes, shoes etc and we were approached several times about needing to take our stuff to the locker room. After the same girl informed us a 2nd time within 90 seconds, I did snap on her a little bit and say, "I know. You've told us 2x, and we are clearly actively working on that." A little understanding goes a long way. Might I add that there were easily 30 people still in the pool area, so it's not even like we were the last ones or that we weren't actively trying to leave the area. We were then told it would be at least 1 hour before they could open again. With young kids, this was just simply not feasible, so we left. With no offer to refund us or a credit for a future use. After this though, I'm not sure we are going back anyways. So disappointed in not only our overall experience but also the absolute reckless and dangerous acts of the lifeguards from start to finish.

If nothing else, all of this demonstrates a terrible mismanagement of the pool. From staffing to training on timing on when to send people down a slide to how to react when there is an incident. And these are the people that are supposed to be trained to revive someone in a drowning incident? They have a job to do and I have 0 trust in their ability to preform their job effectively from start to finish.

(please note, my profile says "Local Guide". I am an established contributor and not just another "Karen" looking to complain. This is truly a very concerning and disturbing event that those considering going should be aware of)

Well it's pretty good for the price for somebody that's 60 and today I went there and the website said they were open till 7:00 but they closed at 5:00. They've always been open till 7:00 on Saturday but today when I showed up at 5:00 everybody was coming out and I checked the website and it still said 7:00. I think if you're going to change your hours you should definitely put it on your website before you actually do it because people make plans and that ruined mine and I'm sure a few others. I hope they get it straightened out

I think we’re gonna cancel. Everyone there is great. I just don’t understand the pool closing at 7 πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ I don’t know how working families can get home have dinner and still use it. I think 8 o’clock would be a reasonable time to close. Canceling because of cost and unreasonable hours of operation.

Front desk and their class scheduling system is worst. Front desk doesn’t have any idea how things works nor their scheduling system. Each time you have to fight into the queue to put your kids in even same level. Plus a lot of arrogance by the staff on top it.

UPDATE after more than 3 months: nothing changed. Front desk always has no idea on what’s going on. Tennis classes are 130$ per 8 classes. Two times in a row this happened, instructor even didn’t show up on the tennis court and there is no email or message. When front desk was asked, they have a same answer always that we don’t know anything. Completely unprofessional behavior and service.

Some of the workers where kinda rude, when it was about to close one was yelling at us telling us to pick up trash that wasn't ours, then when it closed they made us leave and go outside then another worker made us go back in then said if our parents don't come in 15 they said they would call the POLICE, very unacceptable considering there is traffic I think calling the police is very outrageous, I just think they where being very rude in general, and my member ship isn't working even though I PAID last mouth and then said I didn't?!

Great pool with built in wading river and vortex/whirlpool.
It has a small slide for young kids and one big waterpark style one for older kids.
They have a large locker room for families too . That was super handy.
My granddaughter had her birthday party hosted there and it was a hit.

Somebody put a Marvel Avengers Sticker on one of the Exit Signs and it wasn't me! I saw who did it, he was Tall, Dark & Handsome, looked just like me but I assure you it was a doppelgΓ€nger!

I've read a few of the reviews of this place! I want to address a few things!

1. The shower has directions on how to use it, if you can't figure out how to get it hot you should contact Symmons for troubleshooting, I assure you it's not that hard to figure out!

2. Yes, it can get crowded in there but it's not a major issue! I usually take a lap or two on the track if someone is using the equipment I want to use! I had a membership at Planet Purple People Eater and it sucked! I don't care what anyone sais, Planet Fitness is one of the worst gyms in the history of Fitness! With all it's "Purple" and "Judgement Free Zone!" Maybe you wouldn't get judged as much if you didn't walk around with your headphones on projecting your ego at other people! I checked out Club Fitness and it is very spacious but they charge you more for access to other areas of the gym that are not worth it by any means!

3. Renaud Center is very welcoming! it's just some of the staff are younger and still need to develop themselves. No Biggie. I kinda thought that they were non welcoming at first too! I'll say this, Toby cares about the people who train here and I've seen him go out of his way to help some of the Seniors that work out up here! I've never introduced myself to Sue but she's one of the best trainers in O'Fallon. She's an Athletic Boss and has a very positive aura!

What I like most about the Renaud Center is the people who train here! It's a great community! Some of the seniors that come in there are really inspiring to watch along with a few of the disabled people that work out there! I love the Renaud Center but I'm leaving a four star rating over five bc I do wish they had a Sauna or a Hot Tub, But I'm sure it's a lot of maintenance!

For the most part, everyone there is friendly, Staff and Members alike! Shout out to Sheila the Lifeguard she's very nice and remembers my name! And like Cheers sometimes you want to go where everyone knows your name! I've even interrupted some of the members mid work out to ask advice on proper form and not one person was rude to me! This place is Great! But if the shoe doesn't fit and you think you like another gym better, do you! I like the Renaud Center myself!

We used it for fitness only, for the cost it was not worth it. Less than couple miles up the road 2 clubs for cheaper and much more space. The gym area is small, cramped when busy and just a poor layout. It was like they had some space left over and said, okay fitness area here.

Cute place… hardly welcoming to all. Truly, it was all good fun until I, a member of the pride community, was denied access to the family bathroom after seeing one and also inquiring about it at the front desk. It was locked and I was told that they couldn’t unlock it per β€œthe boss’ word”. I’m not the one to escalate things beyond my control, so I didn’t peruse manager action. But with the entire center being a cute little place for everyone to do what they want to do, it’s not worth it. I’m never coming back- ever. Clearly, it’s not a place for pride people!

Activities through the Renaud are a hot mess. We've tried it for a few different activities now (hoping it would get better) and they are typically very poorly organized (martial arts had drastically mixed aged kids thrown together the last minute because they decided to cancel a different class, this kind of thing is the norm not the exception.) The volleyball league is an absolute disaster/joke. The gymnastics/tumbling program has one really great teacher (Ms.Sue is fantastic!) and one teacher who was so awful we stopped going halfway through. I highly highly recommend going through programs through the YMCA or anywhere else.

If you are going here for the pool this is probably not the best place for you. Been going here for several years and a lot of times pool use is an issue. (swim lessons usually). Finally done with this place after last night pool closes at 5 for what no one can say other than private swim lessons and it's what the sheet says. Even though lifeguards were on duty and there was one small child getting swim lessons. If something you pay for isn't available for use what is the point anymore. Just got sick of being always worried that the pool would not be open or I would be just trying to get my workout in. Already joined the YMCA across the street and after speaking with them they said that at least1 lane is always open in the evenings, I mean that makes sense if you are selling a service doesn't it?

I went in to talk to someone about the membership. She told me that I could cancel the membership anytime over the phone. If I have a direct debit, as far as I call 2 weeks before the debit which is every 15 of the month, I won’t get charge for that month. Today I called to cancel and I was told by Ava and she said very cold that I have to come in and I will have to give 30 days noticed.

I’m super disappointed and felt that I was being deceitful. Is this how you make money of your members ? That’s pretty sad.

I took swim classes at Renaud. I already know how to swim but wanted instruction on improving form and technique to become a stronger swimmer. The young lady teaching me seemed to be intimidated and was very timid in offering instructions. She was a teen and I was 40+. Unfortunately I did not benefit from my lessons. However the facility is great. I have no issue other than I wish they offered more adult swim classes. The facility would have gotten five stars from me if more adult swim classes were offered.
*sidebar* Reading some of the other comments, I’m amazed at the sense of entitlement people have. Some are upset because there are rules, yet they would be the first to file suit if their child is injured. Then another person complained because the pool hours were not convenient for THEIR child’s nap time. Really?!?! Are they serious? Maybe their child should nap at another time if he/she wants pool time.

I enjoy going to the gym here however I fell off at the StairMaster they that one girl in there that was cleaning the equipment and I asked her how to use it. There was no other staff around. I asked her how to stop when I get ready to stop because I get short of breath easily. She told me to hit the red button on the handle. I did so and I stopped that the machine did not so I went straight down basically both of my arms straight up in the air and everything cracked and I fell to the floor. She asked me if I was alright I was very shaken and I haven't been able to lift my arms up very well since. I'm still in pain but it's getting better. So I told the girls downstairs to give her kudos for helping me oh, and I said well you need to hit the button 3 times.

Too many people using the track to walk side by side to chit chat. I wish people were here to exercise. Tired of trying to pass people who are taking up too many lanes. Maybe a policy change?

The kids pool opens at noon, just in time for my kid’s nap. How does that make sense? Open the pool at 9 AM - be the only pool (inexplicably) that opens in time for younger childrens’ morning activity.

Very nice facility and equipment. Would’ve been a five star review but the customer service at the front desk it was less than desirable. Front desk definitely didn’t seem excited to work there, have a job, or help you out a new customer.

Swimming, Swimming lessons, and exercise area. In response to the person complaining about closing the pool because it is an indoor pool, when there is lightning in the area, I personally had lightning come through a window within 3 feet of where I was standing and hit an oven behind me. There is no way I would want my granddaughter in a pool surrounded by large windows when lighting can come through and hit the water, or the building and have it transmitted into the water. Thanks for using their heads and getting people out of the water. We have had great teachers for swimming lessons. The desk staff is helpful scheduling the lessons. The exercise area is always being cleaned by the staff. They are also very eager to answer questions about the equipment or exercises while being cheerful and friendly. Seems like they are doing a very good job to me.
