Everything you wish a modern, well maintained gym has, and more. Not only is the area very spacious and full of bouldering problems of all levels, but there’s also a very nice kilter board, fitness/training area, yoga/stretch room, and free showers! The bouldering area has both powerful, “older style” problems, and newer “comp like” problems. Really enjoyed visiting this gym on my way to the Red.

Best bouldering gym in Kansas City, possibly the best overall climbing gym. They reset the walls at a good pace and have a great mix of climbs from VB to V8+. It's always clean and the pricing is cheaper than others.

Some of my favorite sets in the Midwest are right here in KC at Sequence! The environment is fantastic, and the community is super inclusive. The owner is awesome, guiding you around to sets they think youll enjoy. The bouldering styles/variety is excellent. Lots of slab (scary lol).
You can expect to come and have an excellent experience.

My wife and I moved to KC a year ago from the coast, and Sequence has quickly become the center of our universe. As a climber, you'll immediately appreciate the top-tier setting. Our previous gyms back home hosted U.S. Nationals, and this gym holds its own against the biggest names in the country. In fact, we prefer it.

The setting here is top-class. The route-setters strike a perfect balance: outdoor-style movements that prep you to crush outside, mixed with creative comp-style problems that keep things fresh and fun. Love slab? You’ll find it across multiple walls. Prefer overhangs? There’s a massive prow, a mega-arch, and a full-on cave. Into training? The Kilter Board and Tension Board 1 are waiting.

There's also a fantastic strength and conditioning facility with multiple Rogue racks, weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, rings, WoodWay treadmills, AssaultBike, rowers, and more.

But the real magic is the community. It’s intentionally built to be inclusive, welcoming, and fun. If you’re new, please don’t be intimidated. Say hi, ask for beta, and you might walk away with a new friend. 90% of our social circle is made up of fellow climbers we’ve met here. Sequence truly feels like family.

Desire quiet for your training? Mornings and afternoons are great. Do you want mega energy and a popping crowd? Come Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights.

Dara and Graham, the owners, have created something special —a space that has become a home to so many of us. We’re grateful every day to be part of it.

PS: Bring sour gummy bears for Graham, the owner, and you've made a friend for life.

Clean, encouraging enviroment, challenging and always fresh. The gym is different every time we climb. I would recommend this gym to experienced as well as beginner climbers. My 9 year old was interested in climbing and the staff and owners have welcomed him and encouraged him. He is now 11 and has a passion for the sport.

Cool gym, very unfortunate that it doesn’t open until 10am? How disheartening. Every climbing gym I’ve ever been to opens at 6-8am.

I travel a lot for work and have to climb early in the mornings before my work day begins. Typically 6am.

Can’t say enough good things about Sequence. Great people, super welcoming and inclusive. Excellent atmosphere, cool old brick building, awesome location. I love walking out of the gym and being right in the Crossroad; it’s always great to walk out of a sesh and see the sunset’s golden rays across the Kansas City skyline. They set a variety of problems, from hard slab and overhang to approachable, beginner-friendly climbs. It’s all bouldering btw. Great training room with weights, machines, treadmills, and yoga room. Kilter and Tension boards. They also offer their own chalk (it rocks — no pun intended). You can tell just how much care goes into every detail of this place, even the fans rock a Sequence logo.

We love climbing at Sequence. We are definitely more novice climbers and we feel more welcomed at this gym than anywhere else. At other gyms, I have felt that people bring their children because there is a misconception that a climbing gym is only meant to be a children's jungle gym. At Sequence, those individuals that do bring their children make sure to supervise them to prevent any unsafe situations (i.e. children running underneath adults actively climbing). Sequence also has a wide variety of problems that allow novice climbers to make progress while still allowing those that are more experienced to feel challenged with the problems available. The facility is clean and open. The prices are reasonable. There are always new problems to solve. The atmosphere is very welcoming, regardless of your skill level. After going to another gym for about a year, we returned to Sequence and our love for climbing was reinstilled!

What an awesome gym! It starts with great setting and grows from there. They set thoughtfully, with every moving being close to the grade. No free cruise to the crux move here. I was in town for work Wednesday and have a tradition of finding local climbing gyms to visit. This might me the best I’ve visited in the country!
I asked Megan at the front desk for suggestions on running routes nearby, and she pulled up a map outlining streets in the neighborhood with good views. When I was back and ready to climb I was amazed by the amount of boulder problems at this facility, so many fun and different sets to choose from with kilter and tension boards.
It was late on the way out and I was looking for somewhere open to get carry out, and Megan was so helpful in finding a good restaurant close by.
I was really blown away by this visit! The facility is beautiful and the employee so helpful and approachable.

Really superb climbing gym. Great facilities, intuitive knee-press sinks, hand care stations, you name it.

Various styled setters who don’t sandbag and offer a lot of variety.

Solid weights and cardio gym for the monthly people and warm ups, industry standard solid stuff.

Extremely accessible but professional.

Lovely staff and owner, this is the gym culture KC and the Midwest needs more of.
If you’re local, you’d be foolish not to be monthly with a place that’s building a positive, climb-oriented culture.

Excellent boulder gym! Conveniently located near downtown KC - I walked there from the convention center without any trouble. Loved the layout of the facility; walls fit well in the space (doesn't feel crowded) and provide all of the various wall angles! Setting felt like it comfortably fits a 5.8-5.11 climber (I'm 5.7), with a mix of styles throughout the respective grades. Grades felt on par to typical gym climbing, and transitioned well thru the progression (I didn't notice a huge jump between beg/int/adv/exp/senei). Overall great day-pass session during my visit to KC!!

First time I went climbing and it was great! Got a free pass from a friend (if you have a membership you can get 1 pass a month to bring someone). If you fall you have very thick padding to land on. They have different levels of climbs so if you're new or experienced you'll have something to do! They have a gym attached that you can use as well. They let you rent shoes there if you don't have any. When you wanna relax for a bit They have a small lounge area that you can rest at.

Probably the best gym I've visited! Came in for a day, wish it could be my home gym. Coming from indoor gyms in Central VA and recently St Louis. Setting is great - a good mix of dynamic moves, crimps, cave, slab, everything you could ask for in a bouldering gym. Didn't even miss the wall that was out because they were resetting - there was still plenty to do. The grades are pretty fair, if a little easier than I'm used to. Great gym and yoga space too. Very clean and modern space. Would come back if I'm passing through KC again.

Sequence is the best place to climb in KC. I was hooked from Day 1 for the ambiance alone (exposed brick? high ceilings? clean design? calming color palette? check check check check), but ultimately I stayed for the climbing. The setting at Sequence is consistent and reliable. When you climb a Pink Dot route, you know how hard it's going to be. That consistency is important when you're trying to see improvement over time.

In addition to the bouldering area (which is ENORMOUS!), they have a workout room and a yoga studio. The workout room has high-quality Rogue equipment, so Sequence is a great place to do all of your training, climbing and otherwise.

You'll also love Sequence because of the staff. The owners, Dara and Graham, and the workers are super friendly and helpful. They are always asking climbers for advice on how to make improvements, and they take those suggestions to heart.

Stop by and check it out! You'll love it!

I was in town from austin for a few days visiting family and decided to drop in to get some training and wow, I cannot say enough good things about this gym! The climbing was absolutely stellar with great routesetting top to bottom, a wonderful variety of terrain, several system boards and a variety of hang boards and strength implements for those with training in mind. The whole place was spotless, the location was beautiful, and the covid safety measures were some of the best I've seen at a climbing gym. The fitness area was very comprehensive, containing everything one could want, from squat racks, to rowing machines, to grip implements. But more than anything, the staff was wonderful! All the staff members I interacted with were super pleasant, and helpful. Dara in particular was incredibly nice and gave me some good information about local outdoor climbing and other gyms in the area. All in all, Sequence is a world class gym that I would recommend to anyone 10/10 : )

They put up new boulders on a weekly basis so there’s always new problems to solve. They also have really awesome events for the members and community (like their recent women crush Wednesday event and their member appreciation events). There’s also a fitness room and yoga classes.

The options for climbing in KC has tripled since I moved here three years ago, but Sequence doesn't feel like just one more place to climb. The people there are welcoming, helpful, and very friendly. My friend and I are casual climbers but were able to enjoy 15+ routes that were clearly marked with appropriate difficulty.

The space is also clean, spacious, and is a very relaxed atmosphere. It's a little pricier than nearby options (notably ROKC Underground) but it's also larger and has more options. Overall, I had a blast and will absolutely be back soon.

I met the owner and another staff member and they were both super friendly and helpful. This gym has a ton of space both on and off the wall, so even when it's busy I imagine it doesn't feel too crowded. There was a variety of bouldering problems across pretty much every grade, and I found that the grading system encouraged me to try problems that I might not have otherwise. They have walls at every angle as well. The holds all had really good texture and there was a nice variety of shapes and sizes. I'm a novice climber, so I found the south wall especially nice because they only set grades V4 and below on it.

The only discomfort I felt was that the walls felt a bit taller than I'm used to and the floor is particularly firm, so I felt pretty unsure about falling from the top, and there are no topouts. (EDIT 7/23/19: I've been learned that firm floors help provide more stability for the feet and ankles when landing, which can help prevent rolled or broken ankles. This makes sense to me, so this is less of a problem in retrospect.) They put up a lot of downclimb holds which is helpful, but sometimes they felt awkwardly spaced. Some of the problems above the cave looked notably hard to downclimb.

The changing rooms separate from the restrooms are quite helpful because I typically climb after work, but I don't like changing into climbing clothes in the restroom. The restrooms were clean and spatious though, so it wouldn't be a big deal in any case. The workout room is fairly large and has various equipment in it. I feel confident that I could get a comprehensive workout here.

I was able to attend a course on preventing injury that was quite informative, and the instructor was very friendly and willing to answer questions beyond what was covered in the course. I was also told these courses are free for members of the gym, which is excellent.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go often enough for a full membership, but I will definitely purchase the punch pass and I plan to keep an eye out for more courses. I'm really glad I decided to check it out!

Went to Sequence Climb last weekend for a friend's bachelor party. Our whole group had a great time. It's a really nice space. The gym is very clean, bright, and well put together. The bouldering is fantastic! There are a lot of different options for all different skill levels. The owner Graham made us feel very welcome. Once we were all checked in he was eager to give us a tour. He gave our group samples of the Nitro cold brew coffee (delicious) and shared with us some of his personal favorite boulder problems in the gym. We left very pleased and I would definitely recommend this spot! Thanks Graham!

This is one of the most clean-cut, modernized and comfortable gyms I’ve visited (and I’ve been to hundreds and been an owner of two). It’s all bouldering, which may deter some who like ropes and autos, but the setting is well-varied from first-class-fun to stout-hard, something for everyone. There’s a Tension board for those who want to train and nice free-weight workout area. There’s also a nice yoga studio. I took a class with Amanda as the instructor and she was a great guide - I highly recommend.

Overall the layout, design and feel of this facility is spot-on. Worth a visit if you’re in the KC area. If I lived in the area I’d have a membership here.

No idea what to rave the most about in this review because the business as a whole is AMAZING. The owners are oft present and the kindest individuals who always want to make sure things are going well/to help you if you’re struggling up a particular wall. The walls themselves are prime, with different sections being changed every week for fun new puzzles. This is all before I even mention to weight room and yoga included almost every day of the week in a separate section of the building. A truly amazing location that is worth visiting and getting a membership at.

A day pass is just under $20 not including any gear you want to rent. There are showers and changing rooms, a social area with couches, Wi-Fi, and kombucha and cold brew coffee on tap...
The music is a nice selection, not too distracting from the climb, but also providing a nice background noise. Really chill place.

The routes range from pretty easy to how is that even possible?! The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and work hard to make your experience great. The classes they order are excellent especially the bouldering and yoga classes.

Lots and lots of routes and space. It almost feels like there are too many routes to the point where there are routes just to have routes. Some feel kinda bland. But there's plenty to choose from! They have a really cool vision for the place, promoting bike use and the street car, showcasing a lot of businesses like local bakeries. The fitness area is well set up, except that the over head bars ij the squat racks, to do pull ups on, are too low. I'm too tall for all of them so I just have to bend my legs. Kind of stinks, but most people wont have to worry about that.
