If you're someone that loves heat. This might be the place for you. I used to grudge against yoga in a normal setting but once I tried it in a high heat setting. I began to fall in love with it. It made me feel closer to myself more than ever. A young kid with tons of anxiety and depressed mindset that I used to be, kind of helped get that off my chest and be able to move forward in life with a smile on my face everyday. The instructors are the best part about this place. Every word that comes from them I take with full heart and the more I do it the more I want to come back to Sumits. My loyalty to Sumits is unmatched and I don't think there could be another place that can trade me away from it. Thank you Sumits.

I had the pleasure of attending a hot yoga class at Sumits Hot Yoga Columbia on Sunday morning, led by Kris, and it was such a refreshing experience! The temperature of the room was absolutely perfect—not too hot, but just right for a good sweat. While I’m more familiar with 26+2 classes, this was a wonderful change of pace from my usual routine at my home studio.

Kris did an excellent job leading the class, with clear instructions and a calming energy that kept us all motivated. The cold lavender towel at the end was an absolute treat—such a thoughtful and refreshing touch!

The facility itself is fantastic. The bathrooms and changing rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making the whole experience even better.

I also loved browsing their yoga merchandise—great selections, including Lululemon!

Highly recommend Sumits Hot Yoga Columbia for anyone looking to enhance their yoga practice or simply try something new.

Jake is the man! He looks like Chris Barnes or the singer in Shadows Fall. He is a friend & contemporary of the great Roland Landers. They offer shape shifting classes too! Lovely showers

Incredible atmosphere. So welcoming and kind. I’m not good at Yoga, but no one has made me feel uncomfortable. I enjoy the 12/noon class. Perfect “Lunch Break” thing to do with your time!!

Best Yoga Sculpt class in Columbia! I've been going to Becca's sculpt classes for 2 years now and she is just the most thoughtful and creative instructor I've ever seen. If you're looking for a full body workout that is challenging, fun, and collective look no further, it's here!

First off, Sumits Hot Yoga has a wide variety of amazing yoga classes available to satisfy everyone. Second of all, they have amazing staff and customer service. I cannot express enough how amazing/friendly they were and accommodating they were in helping me with a class punch card that was purchased for me as a gift. Would 10/10 recommend for your own experience or as a gift for others!

I’ve been going to Sumits for just over a year now. I’ll probably keep going but I don’t plan to refer anyone.

I have had some issues relating to endometriosis and the heat is wildly helpful for the pain. It’s a fairly good workout too. However, the atmosphere is really intense, and often judgmental of new visitors. I made the mistake of bringing a friend of mine once, and she felt so judged that she never came back.

My bigger issues, however, comes from the moral implications of a lot of the studio’s stances. I wish they had taken COVID more seriously than they appeared to at the height of the pandemic.

Additionally, this studio seems to have really separated yoga from its more spiritual roots and cultural significance. (A white woman calling out cultural appropriation verges on cliché at this point, but blasting classic rock during a flow can feel disrespectful). I’ve seen other studios in town offer fitness based yoga classes that take class time to enhance understanding of the cultural context around yoga, its history and what it means when we’re getting into poses. I wish Sumits did the same.

Terrific yoga studio! Welcoming place , there is a lot of diversity of experience in the classes and all seem appreciated. Reasonable cost, very clean studio, nice locker rooms, great mat cleaning program so you don’t have to carry and wash your mat and towel. Friendly staff/teachers. Many classes scheduled, including early am and later at night.

Yin Yoga at Sumits Hot Yoga is the best therapy to lighten the load of COVID stress! All the Yin instructors are awesome! A shout out to Aimee S. who is so talented and has themed Yin classes. My head, heart and soul are balanced by the end of class. She has great energy! I just wish there were more Yin classes!

BEST hot yoga in Columbia. Staff & instructors are always so friendly and helpful. Studio is very nice. The flow is incredible, and Jake is my fave instructor! Hot yoga takes a few classes to get used to, but once you have the flow all is good. Sometimes the music is a tad loud if the instructor is quiet, but overall the classes are great and everyone is respectful. They also sell Lulu Lemon clothing!

I have been going for a year and still haven't gotten used to the heat. It's a really great flow sequence, but it is just so hot. Room is well above 100 and typically around 104-105. Not a place for beginners, it is loud and hard to hear the commands, and there aren't a lot of instructions for how to make sure you have proper form.

Terrible experience. I would discourage any beginners from making this their first yoga session. The music was entirely too loud. The instructor was difficult to understand. The lighting was crazy. The flow was just OK with questionable posing. The worst part was as I was trying to introduce a friend to their first time in a hot yoga session we were confronted by a crazy regular who fantasized she was an instructor. The crazy lady approached us getting in our faces and scolded us for quietly whispering what to do in the class 10 minutes before it's start in the silent room. This lunatic was very aggressive and rude with no understanding of yoga values. I have been doing Bikram hot yoga for years and loved every minute of it until this experience. The episode left my guest completely dejected and we decided to not return to a hostile environment. Finally, if one is a beginner and aims to enjoy a non-threatening first time experience save your money and steer clear of Sumits Hot Yoga. Please consider yourself warned first timers.

Wonderful studio, truly a class act. The studio has a clear vision of what it means to be a yogi and embody the yoga culture, and this is evident everywhere from management to the instructors and facility.

Although the sequence is essentially the same every time, each teacher has a different energy, musical choice, and their own approach to instructing. They are great about encouraging you to do what you need for your own body and giving multiple levels of challenge for each pose; so you can make it as challenging or as relaxing as you'd like. Some parts of the class you hold balance poses for a minute each, others you flow through the poses more like vinyasa yoga.

If you like loud blaring Christian rock music you might like this. I have practiced Brikram and many other forms of yoga for 18 years and this is the most obnoxious class I have ever attended. Its like 1990s aerobics. You dont hold any postures long enough for them to have any use. I'm not sure what you would call it but its NOT yoga. The music is so loud you can't hear the instructor. No good.

Also the Classes are far too crowded.

Amazing! All of the teachers are fantastic, and the studio is such a great space to do yoga. The sequence stays the same every time, so the more often you come, the easier it gets, and your body will begin to adjust to the heat, too, which is another good reason to come regularly.

I always feel fantastic after class--totally de-stressed and energized. The studio is very friendly to newbies as well, and between the students, the teachers, and the music, there's such a great energy in the room.
