What an amazing facility, extremely well kept. The equipment is top of the line. Dumbbells go up to 125lbs. All the connection tools are organized very professionally. 5 to 6 squat racks, and a full aerobic exercise layout up stairs. Traveling can be tough to fit in workouts, this was truly a delight and pleasure to visit. Will be my main hit when in the area!!

Cramped, not enough squat racks and only one smith machine and one hip thrust machine. Aside from that, good equipment selection overall and I like the steam room in the locker room!

The wave is an amazing gym / fitness center! I visit family here every year and live in Hawaii and you can’t find a gym like this in Hawaii. For the price you can’t beat it you’ll get less than half of what this place has back in Hawaii for the same price.

The equipment is cluttered. I feel that they should have a membership that does not include the pool. This place could be way better. Especially, if you look at other resort towns and their recreation centers especially given what they charge you'll would be disappointed.
Oh and the locker rooms are from like the 1990s. Furthermore the floor is often dirty in the locker rooms which is is pretty crummy after showering. Very little amenities in the bathroom if you're expecting an upscale experience this is not the place for you although it seems to be marketed that way.

It’s a great gym with excellent equipment but the hours of operation are frustrating to navigate. They’re closed on holidays and open late on the weekends so it’s hard to build a routine. The weekend hours make no sense to me since they don’t allow one to workout if you work or have children’s activities to attend.

I started going to The Wave several years ago. My physical therapist suggested I start going to The Wave to use a particular piece of equipment at The Wave to rehabilitate my leg. And it’s something I will need to do for ever. So in their remodeling they completed recently they removed the one piece of equipment I need and it was not replaced. With all of the new equipment not one can replace the one I used for several years. I am not happy losing the old machine. I must say I really don’t care for the new equipment. So I think it’s time to start looking for a new gym.

Not a good place for kids always getting told to go with your parents or brother that has to be 14 I understand in the gym but you can’t do basketball or even racket ball or even sit in the lobby is it that hard to let kids do something so simple?? id recommend going somewhere else if u have kids. Also the prices for this place for like 4 things to do? You I get it all of these people are coming in to town but it can’t be that expensive I mean 6$ for a smothe It’s kinda overpriced but it’s good but the staf don’t need to go walk up to my brother and tell him that I have to be with him 😐 like again not a good place for kids and I’m not going to be rude about it because it’s not there fault because they don’t own the place or make the rules but oh my god I can even let my kid do homework in the lobby and the lobby kinda sucks too it looked like my grandmas house and it’s uncomfortable and people need to stop asking about ages because what if you had a problem with you and you where short you should have to ask them 2 time at tops and not have to explain it every time but not their problem it’s there job but it hurts when you have delayed growth and you get asked it everyday when your there good place and all but come on you can do better for the prices you ask for but it’s good place but I feel like you can do better wave also I will respond to the thing you send

When the wave did their expansion in like April they got rid of some really good machines because they did a poor job of how they use up their space. But the machines that me and a lot of people would use were the assisted dip and pull up machine and the other one was a padded fly machine. They have older versions of those machines but they both suck and it makes no sense why they would put the newer ones in storage and keep the old crap ones that are like 30 years old. I asked about this and they said they were donated but come on the old machines had their time and it’s time to get the newer and better machines out of storage and into the gym. And also get a preacher curl machine too

An oasis of hygienic and fitness extreme. Free weights, every machine ever made, massive dumb bells, lap pool, therapy pool, kids pool, super clean locker rooms - I don’t want to actually leave this review because this place has amazing rates for a month pass and it is a world class fitness club. Also a nice area for workout drinks and a huge Montana lounge with a fireplace. Did I mention the basketball court, racquetball courts and pickle ball? Or the on-site day care? I’m fixing up my ranch and that is dirty, hard work. My time here at the Wave is the highlight of my day. What an amazing place.

I have been using the Wave for 14 years. For the last 13 years the Wave has been excellent. The staff and facility are top notch. Recently, I am very sad to say the Wave is on the decline—as indicated by other wave users in previous comments. I believe this is largely due to short sighted decisions made on the behalf of management, especially surrounding the renovations. I recently came in to buy a day pass. I called in beforehand and was told I could buy a monthly pass. I arrived and was told I could not buy a monthly membership until Monday. I was told to go the Rockfish facility.
Unfortunately, this incident is not isolated and for this reason I decided to leave a review.
Within the last year the customer service, headed by Michelle Murphy, has taken a turn for the worse. She can be quite snappy and isn’t looking to help customers, rather sternly enforce the rules. I know the wave is a popular facility but I’d hope they still try to provide good service.
Here are some of the new issues I would like to highlight and recommend changing:
-getting a pass here is a royal pain. You are no able to get day passes and no longer able to get a Monthly pass outside of weekday hours apparently (hope this will end after Renos). The process of getting a monthly pass is a painstaking process. Can this process be improved and expedited?
-no towel service for student memberships (it’s a pain to pay $1 per towel) . Getting towels used to be one of the best perks for members as we could workout and then sauna, hot tub and shower off. This is one example how the leadership is becoming penny wise and pound foolish. That is they are trying to pinch Pennie’s where they can but are losing sight of the big picture ( Wave patrons and quality of service).
-2 hour parking in the facility lot even though some families may want to spend the day at the Wave.
-quality of new staff hires has decreased. The old staff are still excellent and provide excellent service.
Customer care, excellent staff and a state of art facility defined the Wave for and have made it a place patrons feel happy, healthy and connected to their community. I hope Art can take the necessary steps to ensure the Wave is a place that serves the community. I fear that donors will no longer generously endow funds to this facility if some changes are not made.

I have been to many gyms around the valley and I can say that the Wave is easily the best all around! The equipment is new and consistently cleaned, the staff is very friendly, and the juice/smoothie bars are amazing! The only thing I could possibly complain about would be how busy it is but I expect nothing less from a community gym with so many different activities. My best advice is to arrive before 5pm. If your looking for an affordable gym membership for you or your family I would highly recommend you give The Wave a shot!

I want to first respond to the critical review by Jack F; he's essentially saying that I'm upset by the fact that nicer things come at a higher cost. My guess is that Jack might be upset that a Ferrari or Mercedes costs more than a Kia or Hyundai, or that the Ritz Carlton is pricier than a Best Western. I apologize, but I couldn't resist addressing such a ridiculously illogical review. I've visited the Wave a few times, and it's a fantastic place with incredibly friendly staff and great amenities. I'm grateful that the ownership has invested a significant amount of money to create a high-end facility like this. Thank you!

Having been to gyms all over the place, The Wave was a pleasant surprise. While traveling through the area to hike Glacier, my buddy and I were looking for a gym but he was skeptical of this place because it's an "aquatic center" so I convinced him to take a look inside and after seeing their dumbbells that went up to 125lb, he was convinced that it would be a good workout 🤣.
This is a beautiful facility with very friendly staff, great workout equipment and a swimming pool, hot tub and steam room. Definitely coming back here next time we're in the area.

I came in today with my four grandchildren so they could swim. I have a membership but my grandchildren do not. The woman at the front desk was very rude and told me they no longer allow non- members to swim. I asked about a day pass which I have purchased in the past, the same rude person told me they no longer offer day passes. I get policy's change but she didn't have to be so rude and condescending. She looked straight at my 11 year old grandson and said " I can't let you go in" I have had a membership for over 8 years and have never encountered such a rude person..a representative of The Wave.

The Wave is an oasis for Whitefish retirees and tourists. If you are living in Kalispell, Halfmoon, Columbia Falls or any of the surrounding area, you are not the ideal clientele. However if you have recently moved to the area, this is the place for you!
They like to charge an exorbitant ( by Flathead county income levels) amount just to be able to be ‘initiated’. why this costs almost $200, on top of an extremely high monthly rate, I’m not sure. This is a non profit, but don’t worry Whitefish retirees. They don’t skimp on the frills. There is plenty of art, leather sofas, and random flat screen TV’s to make sure you know where your money is going.
There is state of the art equipment, brand new weight machines. I’m not sure what was wrong with the old ones. They worked fine. However, the new ones count your reps for you. So if you forget to count to 12, the top of the line machine has a digital display.
Forget your water bottle? Don’t worry, The Wave sells them for literally $37 dollars. I’m scared to ask why, but they also have a huge display of designer sunglasses for sale. They are full price, because The Wave doesn’t believe in discounting anything.
When you are retired, you can take advantage of the many fitness classes offered during the work day. But if you get off work after 5:00 pm, sorry. Maybe come take a class during your lunch break.
They didn’t mention this at joining, but towels are an extra $50 fee. Was a pleasant surprise that it wasn’t $100. And since you’ll be asleep by then, The Wave also closes at 8pm on weekends.
There is usually parking available in between the Denali’s, Lincoln’s, and Mercedes with Texas and California plates that are waiting for new registration.
They do not offer a sliding scale of membership cost based on income. The Wave is for the community of Whitefish, particularly those who are staying in AirBnbs and those that own them. If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
UPDATE TO MANAGER RESPONSE 9/2
Mr. Owner,
Since you did not leave your name, just a response with plenty of excuses, I have updated my original review.
The fees are way out of line. Check the neighboring community gyms, outside the Whitefish Wave bubble. There is a surprising lack of designer displays, overpriced water bottles, and art in their gyms. More importantly, they have fees that are more in line with the average folk’s income.
Other gyms don’t have a pro shop. And for good reason (no one buys there). I guarantee you that your prices for Oakley sunglasses are not lower than Sportsman’s Ski Haus, despite your claims.
Thank you for shouting out my old beat up vehicle. Glad there are other people in similar cars that are stretching their budget to join this non-profit.
The scholarship form seems to be well hidden on the Wave website, so thank you as well for making it public. It also seems to be very rigorous, but I am sure most eligible recipients will not mind waiting the 3 weeks it takes for approval.
As for your comment about us average people spending more money at bars and on cell phones, I can assure you I spend less at the bar than at the Wave. Comparing a cell phone bill to a non-profit ‘gym’ would be like comparing apples to oranges.
Lastly, during the extensive and extravagant remodel, the floors of the racquetball courts and basketball courts have been heavily damaged. They moved metal equipment on the delicate courts and have left them deeply scratched. I hope that our membership fees will cover the repairs, or maybe the water bottle and sunglasses sales will.
See photos.

We have been members for quite some time now. In the past year however, it has become insanely overcrowded. The influx of members has turned the facility into a total zoo.
We plan to cancel our membership because during the summer the kids pool had feces floating in it.
The pool is always very packed out during open-family swim. The hot tub always has hair floating around in it, the womens changing rooms are pretty gross too. There's toilet paper, tampon wrappers on the floor, wads of hair in the showers and floods of soap on the counters. People dont utilize the lockers and leave their wet towels, shoes & clothes laying everywhere so it makes the changing rooms feel kindof bummy. Especially when you use the bathroom and someone's bra and dirty underwear are hanging over the door. This is a matter of way too many slobby members for the staff to keep up with.
Staff members arent very friendly and come off as lazy. (We have towel service and the girl up front acted like us asking for towels was annoying because she had to put her phone down and reach behind her head to grab them) Kids are generally unsupervised & allowed to dive and jump in the therapeutic pool and use cell phones in the hot tub when there are large signs plastered everywhere that it's not allowed.
It used to be a fairly invigorating and relaxing experience everytime we went, wether it was to utilize the gym, juice bar or swim... but now we drive by, see the parkinglot flooded out and ask ourselves why we still have a membership.

This gym takes advantage that it is the only gym in town!! It is dirty, old, and smelly. The staff there is extremely disrespectful and rude; especially the one who wears make up… she looks like a killer clown. Adding on to my complaints they approach u with an anger in there tone!!! The pool smells like a toilet!! There is so much hair in the pool and out side of it!!! One time I found a dirty dipper filled with number two in the pool.

I’ve gotten lazy about writing reviews but needed to make sure to write one after our experience today & a month ago. The staff here is so friendly and accommodating!! They went above and beyond to take meet our needs. We love the pool options— a large pool for laps, a zero entry walk in pool for toddlers and babies and an amazing 90 degree pool that my baby didn’t want to get out of! The water slide was not operating both times we went, but it requires two lifeguards for it to run and with the staffing shortages everywhere this is pretty understandable.
They have a great big hot tub, but we didn’t visit it this time as little kids aren’t allowed in it.
All the spaces are well lit and clean. My kids used the basketball & racquetball courts (they provide balls & racquets). I wish we were closer so we could get a membership (we are in Kalispell) but we’ll definitely stop in here over the winter. Highly recommend and whoever is managing this place and the staff is doing great— very positive atmosphere.

Dry sauna, pool, gym, steam room, WiFi, clean showers. I even got a great coffee and fresh green juice - and then went back another day for a massage from Patti, who was amazing!
Loved this place. Will be back when I’m in town.

They are bullies. I would give them 0 stars if I could. They litterally had a man arrested for not wearing a mask though he had a medical exemption. Disgusting.

The Wave management and staff are going the full distance to make being at the facility a safe experience for those of us who are high risk for the virus. I value that commitment to safety for all.

No climbing wall, mediocre customer service. Even though as a month-to-month customer I was paying more than the yearly customers I was treated poorly once they reopened from the initial COVID shutdown and not allowed to use the facility. They do keep it clean though.

I have used the wave for my children's swim needs and we like to go swimming for fun too. During the covid time I know things were very different-private lessons were not an option for non members. I have waited a year to finally get put on a list for private lessons to find out that private lessons are only available until 4pm during the week bc the swim team starts at 4pm. There needs to be a better system for private/duet swim lessons. Most people are working and can't make those times work as well as kids being in school. There needs to be an instructor that is paid hourly or has a certain set of hours to accommodate other schedules. My experience is, you get put on a list and then wait until an instructor feels like taking your request. There is a need that is not being met and I am willing to pay the outrageous amount for private lessons, but apparently the wave doesn't want my money.

The Wave is so accessible (building updated for C19 issues), starting with the drive over there and then finding your level of fitness plan! Hot showers, steam room and pools before to warm up or relax down after. The whole place has good energy. Call ahead to have a staff member tour you around to learn about all there is offered for members and visitors. That's how I got started & am glad I did!

Amazing and clean facility! Machines are always in good working order, lots of options for cable machines, and a bunch of racks for weightlifting exercises. I love using the pool, hot tub, and steam/dry saunas too! The locker rooms are always clean when I'm there too.

This gym is AMAZING! I just moved here from San Diego and I wish I had been able to find a gem like this there.
The equipment is great and there is a lot of it to choose from, the employees are so friendly, everything is clean, there are a great variety of classes offered, there are multiple pools (!), and it is extremely affordable! I would recommend to anyone and EVERYONE regardless of fitness level or age.

I've spent time in a variety of fitness centers up and down the West Coast over the last 30 years, and The Wave is, without doubt, the best of them all. It's large, relatively new, impeccably clean, offers a huge variety of fitness machines, weights, workout options and classes, and is filled with knowledgeable, friendly staff. What's more, it has three heated pools ranging from medium to large, plus a hot tub, dry sauna, steam rooms and showers. It even has a reading area with a fireplace! I encourage you to pay a visit - you won't be disappointed!

The facilities are top notch and amazing! When trying to find a gym in the area there wasn’t even a question about where to go. From the childcare to the equipment to the locker room, everything is set up for the best experience possible. I can’t say enough good things about the Wave.

The facilities are the most extensive, with the most amenities that I've ever experienced at any gym I've joined in the past. I absolutely love the cold pressed juice bar! The parking lot always seems full, yet it never feels like its crowded in the gym. I love the variety of equipment, the programs on the various cardio machines are very enjoyable, running to a virtual setting is much more entertaining rather than just listening to music and staring at the wall. The ski conditioning class is also not crowded, so I feel like my needed are being addressed by Mary, the instructor, and modified movements are given which is a huge help for me.

The Wave is a fantastic facility. They have superb cardio and weight lifting stations. The pool, spa and steam are spectacular. The staff are MOSTLY helpful and kind. Occasionally someone has the snobs or the grumps, but that is most places. They have many many classes with top tier instructors. See Bruce R. He'll get your sweating. The gym is awesome too. If you are looking for a family friendly place to get a workout, this place is it. If your looking for a grungy, dark, serious lifters gym, you may want to keep looking. I mean no chalk? Really? Lol ok.
