​They have a huge variety of modern, high quality equipment, so you rarely have to wait, even during peak hours. From cardio machines to weights and specialized training areas, they have everything you need for a complete workout. The facility is well maintained and the staff is friendly and generally helpful. Coming in as a regular and being addressed by name is a huge deal for me. So, Lily running the show as a first impression is excellent. Greeted with a smile, asked about things going on in my life (how does she keep it all straight?!) and met with overall pleasant conversation on the way in and/or out. People like Lily are the very reason customers become loyal…this is 100% the case here!

I normally go to the Genesis in midtown crossing or Cass street. Lately, I’ve been very impressed, lately, with the focus on customer service from the front desk staff at these locations. Today, I visited the gym in Aksarben. I have to say that Lilly, the woman behind the front desk was probably one of the nicest people. It was really impressive to greet all of the regular members by name. She’s a huge asset to have as the initial face of the gym.

Had the pleasure of working out here while I'm town for a few days for work. Lots of equipment for weight training including free weights and machines. More than enough treadmills and a solid view out the window. Clean locker rooms, a small pro shop with preworkouts, and proteins. Thanks for the hospitality!

The good: this is a smaller location, that feels home-like. It’s easy to get to know most people and the customers have good vibes.

The bad: since Shane left, camaraderie has fallen greatly. The new management is a little antisocial. The toilet seats are yellow and look like they are from the 1980s. The top floor still doesn’t have a water bottle filler in 2025.

I can't help but notice all the reviews about broken equipment. It's out of control. In my normal workout routine, 4 machines I typically use are down, plus the 2nd floor restroom. Additionally, nearly 100% of all incremental weight dials don't work properly and add unintended extra resistance in unpleasant ways that make them un-usable. Most of these machines that are out of order have been so for over 3 months. The sign on the restroom says "this will be fixed today", it's been up for at least a week. It would be a nice gym if they would maintain their equipment. I can't fathom how they can't get this right. You'd think gym ownership 101 would say to keep your equipment functioning.

Absolutely DO NOT sign up for a gym membership at this gym!! There are so many options of gyms in the city, DO NOT USE GENESIS!! We picked this gym for location when we first moved and it’s absolutely impossible to cancel a membership. We have paid near $200 of membership fees for them after trying to cancel for the last 3 months. The front desk extremely unhelpful with limited knowledge and the manager hung up on us when we tried to discuss this with him. Would never recommend this gym to anyone. Extremely poor management and customer service.

This Genesis Aksarben has been a great club for me. I particularly enjoy their Group Power and strength classes They are fun and quite accessible to all abilities.
I appreciate it when you enter the club that you are greeted by such nice people.... Most particularly, Lily and Morgan at the front desk. They are both a" ray of sunshine" when you enter the club. I appreciate their friendliness.
Finally I dropped my wallet in the locker room a year or so ago with $120 in it. An employee called me up later that afternoon having found it with all the money in it and returned it to me intact. I appreciate the honesty of people in this club.

This is a smaller facility with less equipment than most of their other gyms. Fewer people are working out here too. It feels like a bit of a hidden gem. I think they could really do with upgrades to their water fountains so people refilling water bottles don't hold up the line. The staff are friendly and the locker rooms are adequate.

I signed up for Genesis back in October I think. I never went in until today because I had a billing issue. The Club Manager Christian is one of kindest people I have ever met. He explained to me the process of my cancellation and offered me a 2 month window in the event that I change my mind and if would like to rejoin, I could reactivate my plan without penalty. I dont normally write reviews, but this experience is why I will rejoin Genesis when the time is right for me.

Honestly, this is the worst Genesis I have ever visited. There's a cable machine upstairs that has been broken for over a year and a half. Leg curl machine broken. Locker rooms are nauseating. In the men's locker room, a urinal has been broken for a year. Sauna works half the time. Showers out of order. Please go somewhere else. Do better Genesis.

My first review was 1 star. I bumped it up to 4 stars for one reason. The new facility manager actually came up and reached out to me in person. He genuinely seemed like he cared not only for the future of the gym but for me individually. Asking the gym-goers what they think is wrong or right with the gym is 100% the way to a great environment for everyone.

My original review was mostly based on cleanliness, with the locker rooms being the main issue. While things are still a bit grungy, smelly, and stained, I have a good feeling this new management will turn things around. I look forward to any changes in the right direction and want to use this facility for more than just a convenient location.

Location
Not too busy that you can't complete your workout, but that is around 4-5 PM.
Variety of machines

Cons:
Majority of equipment needs either repair or replaced including benches due to tears in the fabric, worn out or broken cables for the machines, handles/accessories, padding, etc.
Cleanliness - the area has a certain aroma to it, kinda musty at times, dust in the corners, pulled up carpet tiling in some places, the trainer space looks like a pit and could use some organization/cleaning
Locker rooms - damaged lockers, toilet stalls out of order for more than a handful of weeks, plumbing issues, restocking issues

Overall assessment:
I only come here for the location, that it's not too busy, and to make use of one piece of equipment that I can't find elsewhere. This place would be an absolute gem if the company would invest in a complete remodel though.

Scam warning!! Free 5 sessions with a trainer was a scam. The trainer tried so hard to cancel every time After the first session and lied he would reschedule but never did until I see him at the gym. Then he would be like “oh! I thought I already rescheduled” when he actually didn’t reach me again. When I told about this to the manager, he said the trainer, he didn’t even seem care much and didn’t offer a different trainer. Maybe the manager was the part of it that he told the trainer what to do. Who knows.
The whole thing made me feel so uncomfortable to go to the location knowing that someone is trying hard to avoid me. Anyone wants to join this location, rethink.

In the past two weeks the gym has not opened on time twice the times I have tried going in the morning hours. This has been happening more frequently since the holidays. It frustrates me extremely because I had chosen this gym for convenience and paid more for it than a planet fitness for their equipment, which doesn’t help me if I can’t access it. Was in Omaha for a work conference. The hotel I stayed at had a deal in place with Genesis Health Clubs-Arsarben that hotel guests could use the facility free of charge. Talk about a sweet deal!! The gym had plenty of different machines and free weights and it was all within walking distance of the hotel. Club manager Tyler was awesome and friendly along with club personnel. I definitely recommend this gym.

The gym is in a great location. Centrally located to lots of stuff. The equipment, however is old and in various states of disrepair. Cable machines are constantly breaking, benches have fairly large cracks in them, and is just generally dirty. Mirrors, floors and equipment are generally just not cleaned or cared for.

If I could give it a half star, I would. Member services are horrible when it comes to monthly payments. I recently got married and my husband and I combined our membership onto one plan. We got charged for our monthly combined membership AND my old monthly individual membership. I reached out to member services and was told they would take care of it and credit me back for charging me the individual monthly membership fee. Several days go by and I am still not credited back. I reach out again and am told it can take up to 15-30 days. Well, it is now past that and STILL no credit back. I reached out AGAIN and did not get anywhere. Basically was told that it takes a long time. Needless to say, they are fine taking your money, but it’ll take forever to get a credit back.

I personally love using this facility. Despite some of the problems that the facility has the staff are absolutely wonderful. The manager Shane always does his best to help us with whatever problems we have. For example the water was scolding hot and I couldn't get it adjusted. I spoke to Pat and he let Shane know. Shane found me and addressed my concerns and helped me out the water situation. Even though the club needs some maintenance The staff makes you feel warm and welcome. Will keep coming back. Based on my experience so far, it’s been alright, my biggest issue with their service is the lack of attention they put in when a machine needs to get fixed, there have been a few machines that have been out of service for months now.
now recently one of my favorite cable machines, the one that I actually use the most, it’s broken, they put on a sign on it for a month now and still not fixed. another machine added to the broken collection that honestly I don’t think it will ever get fixed.
I have experienced the same situation with other gyms, but when a machine broke it got fixed right away but not here, it is very very irresponsable and very annoying from the management part not to get their machines fixed so the members that pay a monthly fee can use them. Please make an effort and get that taken care of ASAP.

If you're looking at joining because of the location, go elsewhere. I have been a member since it was Golds Gym. Total lack of maintenance here. Finding a fully functional piece of cardio equipment is like finding a unicorn. The broken equipment have been tagged for months. The machines are old, so even when repaired they break again almost immediately. The mens locker room is in the same poor condition. Only 2 of the 4 showers work, 2 of the lavatories are broken and 1 of the urinals. The other locations have newer equipment and are maintained, but not this location. I joined this gym because of location. If I need to go somewhere inconvenient , I'll go to Planet Fitness which is only $10/mo versus nearly $50. If it wasn't for the friends I've met there and work out the same time as me, I'd left long ago.

There is no phone number to call, no recourse for those committed members who have a limited amount of time before work to get in a workout. At the very least, place a phone number on the door for members to call an owner to open. I have plenty of guest passes for a locally owned gym that I will happily share the next time this happens. According to the other members waiting, this is a chronic (and absurd!) problem. It’s a perfect opportunity for them to cancel their memberships. Disgusted.

Fantastic location, right in the heart of Aksarben, with super easy access to free parking, and a nice clean facility. It wasn't super crowded when I went (around 6am), and I didn't need to wait for any equipment. It did still feel a little tight, though, as it's not a huge place. I would imagine that it could get a bit crowded pretty easily.

One thing making it a little less efficient is that it seems like a lot of equipment (including half the showers) are out of order. I know they are improving clubs, maybe one at a time, and I hope this one gets some attention soon!

The Aksarben location is by far the best gym because of the welcoming staff and positive atmosphere. Since joining in January 2022, I have gained so much knowledge from the fitness manager & trainers and continue to grow each day. One benefit of joining Genesis is that you become a member for nearly all the locations. This is my preferred location because of the training staff, with whom I train once per week to keep me on track for my health and fitness goals. I like the variety of equipment and how the space it set up. I also enjoy the TVs everywhere, especially on the carido equipment. Staff is very friendly and helpful, as well as fellow members.

The Aksarben Genesis gym is a very good gym overall, with fairly upscale facilities and equipment, and a very good staff. My trainer, Tia, is well educated in physiology and physical training. She works with me diligently to accommodate my multiple health challenges and guide me to overcome them.

The only thing keeping me from giving the Aksarben location, or ANY Omaha Genesis facility Five stars is the lack of maintenance due to insufficient Genesis maintenance personnel in Omaha -- currently only one (1) person to maintain ALL locations! I also feel that the Genesis Cass St. location's (different from Aksarben) Men's locker room and showers seriously need updates. Hopefully, Genesis corporate will get its act together and rectify these matters.

Even with those issues, I still rate the Genesis Aksarben gym as worthy of serious consideration. That's why I'm still a member!

I was visiting Omaha and I dropped into Genesis for a one day pass and it was a great experience. Kyle (I believe his name was), and his team were so welcoming right when I walked in. It took 2 seconds to check me in, I was offered a quick tour and I was good to go! Ill be sure to drop back next time i’m in Omaha!

Definitely not a 4 start gym .. everywhere you look machines "out of order " , Old equipment, dirty. Been going here for several months and it's been the same no changes in maintenance to equipment.

Not afraid of the exposure here. Probably one of the worst maintained gyms I’ve ever been in. I go here only because it’s close to my house, that’s it. Literally 5 of the 28 treadmills actually function without feeling like they’re going to break or tear your ACL. Dust caked onto everything, everywhere. Best staff member is either Michael(?) (front desk at 6am) or the young women at the front desk during the day. No one else seems to do anything. Shame they lock you into a contract knowing full well the maintenance is miserable. For as much money as this place makes, they could afford to upgrade some cable attachments - some look like they’ve been used since Nam.

I usually go to the Papillion 84th street location which is usually very clean. Great gym and nice staff. However, the showers and sauna are nasty. They need the cleaning staff from the Papillion location.
