I usually try and stay away from the rush hour at gyms but it's not so bad here. I've only ever had to wait a few minutes for equipment a handful of times.

The biggest issue is some of the machines have the weight labels missing. So it can be tedious to calculate the weights. It would take less than an hour to fix this for every machine but it never gets done.

Everything is clean. And it's easy to cancel.

I’ve been a member of this location for a few months now and the outage of the stair masters have gotten worse. 10 stair masters and 5 of them are out. Most of them don’t even have the sign on them. It could also be a quick fix of unplugging and plugging it back in. The employees there don’t paid enough to care. I don’t blame them! Do better Planet Fitness!

This location is nice,well kept and staff is attentive and friendly. I do strongly wish they would update the equipment cleaning stations. Why are the paper towel dispensers not touchless? And then everyone grabs the spray bottle of whatever is in there that supposedly kills germs but is fine for your skin??seems counterproductive and probably spreads germs. Hand santitizer stations would be helpful, especially during flu season. Also the restroom needs a stronger ventilation system.

I've been a member of mini gems and planet fitness has always been the best for me they're open 24 hours and they have nearly 5,000 locations globally and if you get the all club membership it includes unlimited tanning and all of the gyms and they always keep the place clean and fix their equipment and it has everything including showers locker rooms everything you need

Some machines need adjustment on their cables and 3 of the machines I used have worn out padding .
They need to do better maintenance on the machines . I talked to 3 different people and they said they let people working the front desk know about issues with some of the machines months ago and they still have the same issues. I'm going to check out some of the other planet fitness gyms in reno.

I’ve been working out here for about a month and everyone is very friendly. Today I had my phone stolen in the bathroom by a passer by but the staff literally helped me get my phone back! They allowed me to log into the find my application for IPhone aso that I could quickly lock it. They had a description ready of the lady who took it and were just so quick to help me. Selena and Scotty shout out! You guys were literally the best you didn’t have to let me use your iPhone and you did. A very special thank you to Selena for letting me use her personal phone to get mine back and locate it before the people left the area. I’m grateful to be going to a gym with such excellent staff who care about their members.

Unbelievable establishment. Signed up for a free day pass, yes free day pass to try out planet fitness and the rude front desk lady with headphones in was no help. Simply asked to use it, she said “we don’t offer that”. I showed her my app that I had to download for it and still didn’t believe me. She then went on to say “so, what is it you need help with”. I said forget about it and left. I felt so disrespected and I wish ANYONE the best of luck while trying to talk to these people over here. Stay far away. Not worth your breathe of oxygen

My husband and I really like working out at this gym. It is a very busy gym because it's right near 80 and off McCarran. Located in a very high traffic area. It is a very clean gym, polite staff, and love the Black Card amenities. I wish there were a few more machines and maybe a little bigger just because it gets crowded. Love the massage chairs. Overall, great place to get in a workout.

Update - The response you see from Planet Fitness has no meaning. I emailed them and they asked me to confirm my details and send them the link to this review. The guy said he'll forward my information to the manager of this location - Radio silence since then. Pointless exercise by PF corporate team trying to show that they care, in reality this review was probably just a "ticket to be closed" in their system. Incompetent fools.

Serious security concerns in this gym.

My locker was broken into in the men's locker room but nothing was stolen since I hadn't kept anything valuable in there. I was suspicious that it was the only guy who was sitting in the locker room when I was locking up at the beginning of my workout. I told one of the shift leads about the incident and he noted all the details. He also showed me the picture of a guy when I told him about my suspicion and I confirmed he was the guy in the locker room at the time. Apparently this guy also had a history of shoplifting from the Walgreens next door. Since there are no cameras in the locker rooms the shift lead said the manager would look into people who walked out of the men's locker room (there's a camera right outside the locker room) and I was asked to come back the next day.

I called the next evening and was told the manager had left for the day, and when asked to inquire about whether he had looked into my incident, I was told that he hadn't even seen the camera footage. I cancelled my membership because it showed a disregard and lackadaisical approach towards the safety and security of the gym members. If you think you'll get any better treatment if you're a Black Card member, I assure you that you won't, since I was one and the manager didn't even care enough to investigate.

Also I caught someone trying to go into my dressing room where my stuff was when I showered. He was looking over his shoulder, obviously going in to steal. Told them, they did nothing. EDIT: The hand sanitizer they have in a jug by the door is so harsh it'll peel your skin off. Smells like a urinal. During covid they used to have normal hand sanitizer all throughout the gym so you could use it and clean your hands between machines. Now it's just cheap bargain barrel chemicals.

Are there any companies that can just have normal standards and not try and penny pinch on even the cheapest stuff? It's a gym. It should have decent hand sanitizer available everywhere.

Been going here for a few years. It's convenient and cheap, but it's gone downhill in the last six month.

Machines are always out of order. For the last three months, 3/4 smith machines have had broken bars -- meaning there's no safety to keep them from rolling backwards. Brought it up to management and was told, astoundingly, that people should "learn how to use a real bar."

An astounding statement because a fitness professional should know a smith machine bar is not equivalent to a regular barbell -- conflating the two is not only ignorant but dangerous. On the broken smith, youre constantly fighting a backwards roll, and you have to twist your wrists to both unlock the bar and replace it. I've injured myself doing this, even though I've been lifting weights for my entire adult life. The people who use the smiths now are not people who know the difference. Really disappointed that management disregards the clients' feedback in such a confidently ignorant way.

Other complaint is a silly planet fitness corporate policy not to change the channels from the set channel list. 24/7 reruns of friends, Larry King prostate pill infomercial, and -- most disturbing -- animal surgery.

Sorry, I don't want to watch a dog's cancerous intestines get removed, just like I also don't want to see horses get gelded while I'm getting a sweat going.

First of all, walking in the front door, the heater is on full blast and it smelled like a boy's locker room. A mix of dirty gym socks, onions, and ball sweat. It was absolutely nauseating! I had to cut my workout short because I couldn't stand the smell in this place. I decided to just go tan and take off. Well, the tanning bed, room 2 stand up, was disgusting! You couldn't tell it was filthy until you turn it on and the uv lights hit the walls. It literally looked like a guy relieved himself everywhere if you know what I mean. I quickly jumped out and grabbed a handful of paper towels and the spray to do a quick wash and then stood on paper towels to finish my tan. We use PF as our gym when we travel. This place is gross, but the staff is very friendly. I will not be coming back to this location though.

Horrible business practices.
I quit my old gym and signed up for this location 3 or 4 years ago (before it actually opened) because it's around the corner from my house and the price was fair (for what it offered). Initially I chose the black card membership ($20/month) but downgraded to the basic membership ($10/month) the following year as the massage chairs and red light therapy was a gimmick and a pain to use with their lame token system.

For the last 3 years, I've been more or less content with the basic amenities of this no frills gym. Staff has been friendly and an acceptable percentage of equipment was maintained. Til now, I had no reason to search for another gym (other than finding one with a sauna or spa); however, as of Jan 1 2025, I have decided that Planet Fitness is no longer to be trusted or respected as a business. As mentioned earlier, I have been a loyal member since prior to their actual opening. First year, month to month black card, next 2 years month to month basic, but last year was talked into pre-paying for the full year by the staff. They said that management was pushing a special where they waived the annual enrollment fee and lowered the total to $99/year as a 'reward' for paying for a full year membership up front. I told staff that I was good with the month to month membership that I currently had as I liked my price and didn't want to lose it. Staff assured me that I would not see an increase and would be grandfathered into my current price of $10/month whether I continued month to month or prepaid for the year. So, reassured, I agreed and paid the annual fees up front as they advised. When my annual dues expired at the end of 2024, staff informed me that my only option to renew now is to fork over an outrageous additional 50% increase per month ($15/month AND a $49 annual activation charge). An extra $130 more than what I was charged last year! If I had stayed on the $10/month plan I was on before they persuaded me out of it last year, I would have been grandfathered into the same $10/month rate without the increase. But instead, I'm punished for following their advice and paying them a years dues upfront with a ridiculous and predatory price increase, rather than being rewarded for paying up front and being a loyal customer. Unbelievable. On top of all of this, I come to find out that they only offered the slightly discounted upfront annual deal last year and will not be doing it this year... It seems that the greedy corporate execs implemented the annual plan last year specifically to trick their loyal members so that they could cut us out of a cheaper grandfathered rate under false promises of being able to maintain that price. Total bait and switch. Pretty despicable. Because of this, I am searching for a more honest gym and will gladly pay more for additional amenities. It's better than being strong armed by a lying greedy corporation that doesn't value its members or their loyalty.

This location is good and gives you the basic necessities for most workouts. It depends on what time you go, but access and wait time for machines isn't bad. To the managers, please give Sophia a raise! For the first time in years, she's the only one I've seen who actually cleans the gym (while I'm there) and she has an amazing attitude and attends each member question with kindness. My 5 star rating is really because of her. Other Planet Fitness locations can offer better machines and more space, but employees like her are so very valuable and make coming to this specific gym enjoyable.

So recently I found myself in a jam and became homeless and needed a place to cool and relax and get a shower was one of the main reasons they offer a lot more massage chairs hydro massage beds and chairs tanning and few others things when you join and get the black card 24.99 a month and a one time yearly fee of around 50 dollars . But I have to say all of a sudden they want to charge me a late fee when they never even tried to charge my card the day they said it was supposed to be . In The past I was never charged a late fee that would end up cancelling my membership even though my membership is paid. 15 dollar late fee get real . Terrible customer service. Store manager a joke. I somehow have TWO memberships. One I tried to cancel but I guess it just rolled into another one where I am getting a monthly bill for random amounts! (79.95, 24.99, 42.56 to just name a few.) I contacted customer service support in April of 2023 to cancel; however I was NEVER told to come into the location. I went today because I have a voucher from my health insurance only to be told I still have an outstanding balance. I explained I had cancelled my membership and even how I was still even getting billed randomly for different amounts. The store manager did not want to hear any of it and kept requesting I pay the amount due owed. I explained I hadn’t even rolled into a PF since April of 2022. (I say rolled because I have a right leg amputation.) plus how I had cancelled. He refused to even let me cancel it now to stop getting a monthly bill for a service I’m not using and won’t be using anymore due to the customer service treatment. (I had called the 1-800 PF line and was told the home location absolutely has the power to forgive debts under extenuating circumstances.) My whole family goes to planet fitness and will be going to their home locations to cancel their memberships now. Do better Planet Fitness. Especially among your disabled demographic who are on fixed incomes.

This gym has horrible customer service. I’ve been going here for three years and I absolutely loved it until now. I Moved in December 2023, and had to sadly cancel my membership with them. They said I would get billed for January which I was fine with that. It would take two weeks or so to process. But I am continuing to get billed, and when I called, they said that they could do nothing about it because they didn’t submit and process the paperwork. So because of them messing up, I have to deal with paying a gym membership bill that I no longer attend and live nowhere near anymore. I used to recommend this gym to everyone now I don’t recommend it at all because they just try to steal your money and claim that they have an easy cancellation membership process, which is false maybe they shouldn’t hire new employees to do the cancellation process .

I drive semi and i go to different locations of planet fitness all around in states . I would never recommend anyone to come to this location. This is my worst experience with any of the location of pf . The lady work here name Jen ( blonde hairs ) around 1:30 am on 21st December 2023 . Last week, a guy camped out on the hip sled for my entire workout, 50 minutes. It wears you out. Just stay home and do nothing there.

The staff is great, facility is kept clean. One critique I have for this location is that when something is out of order, it stays out of order for a long time.

And I have a critique for the PF chain as a whole: what the heck is up with the “Express Workout” zone?! Nobody uses it; it’s such a massive waste of space. Meanwhile, we all have to carve out a corner or empty wall to plant a mat if we wanna do stretching or warm ups. This gym needs an empty stretching room with mirrors, like other gyms have.

Matt, the General Manager has no customer service skills at all.
He will also bluntly inform you that when you complain about him thru the website, that he gets the complaints. That let's you know your concern will not be addressed. Oh Ladies, by the way, when you inform him of your high risk pregnancy, he will suggest you simply transfer gyms. Homeless like me at the moment and need the money to eat? He says you signed a agreement. I have never stepped foot in the gym due to my condition. Signed up about two weeks before finds out I was pregnant with twins.

Charged me a $50 “annual” fee two months after joining which put my account in the negative, when asking if I could cancel they told me I’d have to pay another $60 and couldn’t refund the annual fee because it was “in the contract”. When signing up the front desk never mentioned anything about either of these fees, when trying to cancel they were less than helpful, and kept repeating the same verbiage no matter what was told to them. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!! First off its ghetto AS and SUPER DIRTY. I got my membership and went literally one time and never went back. I haven't been able to go into the location to cancel my account due to work and for the past 10+ Months I have been calling to freeze my account every 3 months because you have to cancel in person. I called last month and was told they froze my account, then I got a charge. This month I called and asked if they could double check my account was froze because they told me last month it was and it wasn't. I spoke to the GM and he advised that the staff was not trained properly until a couple months ago and you actually can't freeze ur account over the phone. Now it is to late to freeze it this month so I will be charged ANOTHER $38 because the staff there has been giving me wrong information for over a year. I continued to ask the GM why I am being penalized for his staff not being trained. He said he only took over a couple months ago SO... DID I SIGN A CONTRACT WITH YOU OR PLANET FITNESS?? Do I not have to follow my contract because your staff is not trained? no? then why do you get to use that excuse? He was awful and had absolutely no options except for me being out $70+ dollars because planet fitness couldn't train their people properly. I've never had someone threaten to call the police on me in a gym until now!!!!!
We've never been so embarrassed and humiliated! As we're meeting with our mobile public notary to sign some legal documents, we were aggressively and rudely approached by the manager Matt, asking what we're doing. Based on Matt's aggressive and rude approach, we decided to move away from his attacking behavior. Matt did not initially introduce himself as the manager, nor offered any sort of tact or customer service in his approach. Matt then began to aggressively block and impede our way and state that he's going to "call law enforcement" and have myself, my wife and our public notary removed from the club. Being that we travel for work, we consider Planet Fitness to be one of our safe locations - not this location! We called the Human Resources department at this club and have not received a response. Pretty shameful, but not surprising based on the poor level of service we received at the front desk upon entry, not to mention their smirking faces upon departure. We proceeded to call Planet Fitness corporate headquarters and spoke to a very nice gentleman who stated that he'll be kicking this up to the top and to be on the lookout for a response from Planet Fitness corporate. My wife, and our public notary stated that they're never coming back to this location. And my wife stated that it may be racial discrimination based on the fact that I'm a man of African Descent. First time going into a Planet Fitness. I think it's more for people who are focused on weight loss. Hardly any free weights. The ones they do have are very limited on lbs. They literally didn't have enough weights in the gym for me to do my leg presses. However it was clean inside just not my type of gym.

I work out late night so my experience is great as far a people and it’s over all very clean. The only complaint I have is timely fixing of equipment. They went over a month to fix (3) fly stations. I know that would really upset me I worked out when it was busy.

I never had a single issue with planet fitness until receiving an email this morning threatening to send me to collections for a membership I didn’t know I still had. .

I used to participate in their clubs down in Vegas and came here for the same experience. Unfortunately I signed up during a global pandemic, left the city for almost two years, and had my bank account changed unbeknownst to me. This change was from Stash switching from likes of synchrony to green dot.

Pair that with the fact that this club and all of its billing call centers have been flagged by Malwarebytes and automatically sent to spam , I missed the fact that I apparently still had a gym membership here and they’ve been racking up the fees for two years.

While your club is nice and I appreciate your goal to offer cheap memberships, the practices for cancelling memberships are vindictive and malicious let alone the severe lack of communication by anyone other than a robot.

To the manager, I went to your club six times over two years ago and apparently haven’t paid in a year and a half . While I understand you have contracts, all it would have took was an email, from you, a real person. It would have actually made it to my inbox, but instead you wait 1.5 years and threaten collections. I’m looking forward to seeing you to discuss this, as this is the only way to cancel a gym membership in the 21st century. Apparently

The only equipment in here worth using is the lifefitness machines. I have been to about 50 of these planetfitness gyms this is probably the cleanest one yet, however cheap move going to precor machines. They are smaller and weight isn't accurate. Should have stuck to the life fitness machines.

Duplicitous sales behaviors, and apathetic staff. Sub-Par Facility They will tell you there is no commitment, then when you try to cancel they charge a $70 fee. The facility itself looks nice from the onset, but once you get in you will realize all of the machines have low weight limits. They don't even have somewhere for you to fill up a water bottle. I heavily discourage you from signing up here, spend the extra money and go somewhere better.

My wife and I travel for a living so we have been to many planet fitnesses. This is by far the worst one we've been too. I had people on several occasions approach me unprovoked to start an arguement that had nothing to do with anything I was doing. not very "excepting" planet fitness environment that they advertise if you ask me. On top of that the bathrooms are extremely dirty. My wife mentioned she saw the same clump of hair on the ground for several weeks. Some of their equipment was broken for weeks. The staff hit on my wife despite us being together everyday we walked in. We are only in reno for another few month but have had enough and decided to buy another gym membership

The only thing I would say that I wish went back to normal are the hours I work early mornings and late nights and especially on mondays and Friday I just wish it was 24/7 again. But other than that. I miss going in the mornings most definitely. The vibe is always so much nicer and the later crew just seems like they don’t want to be there and all but overall.

The gym is amazingly 👏 great 👍, but the only thing I would add if I could was 22.5 lb dumbbells. Other than that though I feel the gym has every type of great workout machine/equipment and just nothing else I can think of to improve the place other than including electrolyte packets for your water bottles 🍶 in the store and maybe those great muscle massagers in the stores section and some stuff like that, but other than adding those additions to the place I don't know of anything else that could possibly improve the gym.

Overall nice location. Machines are clean and appear to be newer.

I have belonged to a number of different Planet Fitness locations so I can definitely compare and contrast. Two main issues with this location.

This is easily the most lackadaisical with regard to having members clean up after themselves. I've seen people just leave dumbbells all over the gym. The other part of this is not cleaning machines after you use them. There seems to be a culture here of just not really caring. Many of the gym-goers just dont clean machines that they clearly just sweat all over.

The other thing is attire. I just recently saw the entire outline of another man's downstairs. The tight legging style pants he wore meant that I could tell too much about him (edited for google). Awesome. Just not my favorite thing to think about. Granted, maybe they have to let this slide because of what some of the women have been wearing at this gym. I guess things are different nowadays and it is what it is, but it is a little weird to see what some people think it's ok to wear in public. Some of the things I have seen in this gym and noone says anything - complete outlines of people's behinds, the color of underwear worn, small bandos/sports bras that dont cover enough, outlines of the entire front of women's anatomy (edited for google).

It's just too much in my opinion.

But I think I'm in the minority. There are probably a lot of men that love looking at all this. I just wish some things were kept a mystery.

Maybe this is more an indictment of American culture than this gym. But I wish they had more strict dress codes.

It's a good gym especially for casual gym goers. This place really isn't for the hardcore fitness buff. Freeweights max at 75lbs and the benches are all Smith machines. That being said great equipment for someone looking to start out or just get a decent workout in.

I was visiting from out of town. My mother had just passed away. I worked out at planet fitness under my fathers account. I was told I could come back that week and all I would need to provide was my phone number. The very rude night evening manager told me I could not work out. I even asked nicely and explained that my father was in the car getting ready to come in soon. The manager was so rude I will never go back there.

Signs don't help very much if everyone ignores it and staff don't enforce it. Including myself, there were maybe 5 others using masks, and I'd be surprised if even half of everyone working out is vaccinated for COVID. I'll come back when people start following guidelines again.
