So happy being a member here. Grizzly Weightlifting is an excellent gym for anyone serious about their health that enjoy CrossFit style workouts and Olympic weightlifting. Stan, the owner and coach, is the absolute best—he has so much knowledge and cares deeply about your goals and tailors workouts to fit your needs, whether you’re training for competition or just want to improve your health and strength like me.

The gym has everything you could ask for with plenty of brand new equipment and a great community of fun and inspiring members. Finally, membership includes free 24/7 access to all Vanguard Gyms which is a huge plus. Stan will provide guidance to make the most of your workouts there on your off days from group training . I couldn’t recommend Grizzly enough and if you’re on the fence just reach out to Stan and come see for yourself.

At Grizzly Weightlifting, Stan and his crew of people are truly dedicated to supporting and championing what each and everyone of us are there to do. Though I learned Olympic weightlifting while doing Crossfit at another gym, I have been relearning the lifts at a level of attention and detail that I never had before and really feel the difference. It's because of the Grizzly Weightlifting mission and values. Lastly, it's also a wonderful little community and I look forward to being part of its growth as I grow in my own strength, wellness, and capabilities.

I can’t say enough good things about my coach, Stan Babenko, owner of Grizzly Weightlifting. I came to him after dealing with a painful elbow injury that kept me from doing regular CrossFit classes. I was upset and frustrated, but looking back, I believe the universe had a better plan for me—because that’s how I found Stan.

What started as a setback turned into one of the best things that’s happened to me. I began private training sessions with Stan, and not only did he help me recover fully, but I also decided to continue personal training with him even after I healed. I now train with him 4–5 times a week, and I’ve never looked or felt better.

Stan is truly an incredible coach. He’s helped me get stronger, gain muscle, lose fat, and improve my overall health. More than that, for the first time in years, I feel confident in how I look.

What makes Stan so special is not just his expertise, but who he is as a person. He’s kind, humble, and completely focused on his clients. He listens, understands your needs, and builds a program that works for you. During every session, he stands by you, counts your reps, keeps you motivated, and truly cares about your progress.

I never imagined I could complete a workout like Murph, but with Stan’s coaching, I did—and I’m proud of it. He has become an essential part of my wellness journey, and I’m so grateful to have him as my coach.

This private gym is warm and welcoming of every ability level. The coaches meet you exactly where you are at, and support you every step of the way toward your health goals. Most members are 35+years old, wanting more one on one attention to move well and prevent injury while getting fit. Come and visit!! You won't regret it.

Incredible coach, wonderful people, fantastic community, beautiful facility!

I met Stan about two years ago via the weightlifting community and he has consistently been such a great friend, supporter, and now coach for me. I can't recommend his gym highly enough! He gives valuable cues, isn't overbearing, and supports your goals and needs along the way. I'm so happy to be here!

Awesome CrossFit and Weightlifting Spot in Portsmouth!

I’ve been training with Coach Sta for a while, and it’s honestly the best place if you’re serious about CrossFit, weightlifting, or just getting stronger in general. Stan is a good friend of mine – met him at our old gym, and he’s been looking out for us ever since. He genuinely cares about your progress, makes sure you’re lifting safely, and knows how to push you without being that over-the-top, drill-sergeant type.

What’s great is that we’re connected to Vanguard Portsmouth, so you’ve got the best of both worlds – all the CrossFit and weightlifting gear plus a full lineup of machines if you’re into bodybuilding. The vibe here is super friendly, and the community is awesome. No egos, just people supporting each other and putting in the work.

If you’re looking for a place where you can actually enjoy your workouts and get stronger without the pressure, you should definitely check it out.

Grizzly Weightlifting is a top-notch new gym run by my friend Stan.
It's primarily focused on weightlifting, but Stan also offers hybrid classes tailored to people like me—blending CrossFit and functional workouts. For example, today’s workout included a 27-21-15-9-15-21-27 rep scheme of calories on the machine, toes-to-bar, and dumbbell push presses. Brutal and effective.

The space is clean, fresh, and fully equipped—many of us helped move the gear in when it opened, and there’s a strong sense of community here. Stan is not only a great coach, but a solid guy who’s done several Spartan races with me. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re serious about training.

This gym is my favorite. Whether you're into weightlifting or general training, the setup makes every session feel great. One of the best parts is the dedicated weightlifting area that keeps everything focused and efficient. Coach Stan, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about everyone’s progress. He’s always around to offer tips, answer questions, or just cheer you on. His energy and passion for training really set the tone for the whole gym.

I love the attention to detail that Stan and the coaches at Grizzly Weightlifting bring. The small classes and personal training are awesome—whether I’m learning Olympic weightlifting or just want a solid CrossFit style workout, they’ve got me covered. The coaching is super personal, and they always make sure I’m moving well and getting the most out of each session. The community is really welcoming, whether you're 50+ or 20+ just getting started. They’re even starting to offer options for teens, which is great to see. Classes feel super tailored to your goals, and it's been a game changer for me for building strength and skill.
