Kyoshi- in 2013 you started my daughter on this Karate journey and your classes. You ignited a fire in my daughter when she was just 3. Unfortunately as I was military and she was a military brat- we moved from NH and we had to leave. She continued in NC as well as now in AZ. Now she is 12 and she is in the dojo 6 nights a week and teaching 4 weapons. It all started with you. We will always be grateful to your instruction.

National Karate Institute is hands down the best karate school in the area. My daughter has been going here now almost 10 years and my wife joined a few years ago too. They have fantastic programs for all ages and skill levels. Even after moving further away we continue to attend NKI because of the amazing teachers, and excellent program! Highly recommended!!!

Our son began NKI in January 2019. We tried other activities & by the 3rd or 4 th session he would refuse to go. He has never once said he didn’t want to go to Karate. The NKI family is very welcoming & Kyoshi Hewett is AMAZING with the kids, the patience of a saint with every student!

We drive right by another karate school in our town to come to NKI. It is a supportive karate family. Many of the family and personal values we work on instilling in our kids are constantly reinforced by Kyoshi''s lessons. We've been going with our twins since they were 5 years old and plan on continuing for years to come.

Kyoshi is excellent with children! My son started at at three years old (now seven). He definitely learns karate, but importantly the many life lessons and skills Kyoshi continually emphasizes. Karate is the vehicle he uses, guiding them regarding: self control, self discipline, confidence, kindness, persistence and more. These are integrated into the instruction. Your child will learn not only Karate, but also help on conducting themselves with confidence and surety going forward.

Kyoshi has realistic, pragmatic, and challenging expectations of the students, and works with them diligently to help them learn and grow. As a Dad I am truly appreciative.

Our son and daughter have been students at the National Karate Institute since kindergarten. We’re going on 7 years now. We could not be happier. The staff is incredibly talented, skilled and professional. They all excel in martial arts and have the resume to back it up. There is a long lineage of teacher to student becoming teacher that has been passed down for decades. They all still work together, collaborate and teach. If you are looking for a school that teaches refined martial arts or a school that teaches hands on applicable self defense you will not be disappointed. We were recommended by a friend. Our children attend. We now have our relatives bringing their children to NKI.

The NKI family is just that. FAMILY. You’re not a number, you’re a valued member of this karate family. The National Karate Institute is an amazing place in which the instructors are dedicated to teaching their students the correct karate techniques. My son has been attending the school since he turned 3. Kyoshi is amazing at making the class educational and individualized for each student’s ability. Kyoshi knows what each child is working on and what they are interested in that can help them achieve their goals. Kyoshi challenges students and is always there to tell them what they are succeeding in or how they can improve. There are no participation medals at this school, but rather students earn each achievement through hard work. I can not say enough about what a positive influence he is on my son’s life. He is easily one of the best professionals I have ever seen working with children and teens.
All activities for kids are expensive and this one is truly worth every cent. I am excited to see how much my child will gain in life due to training at this school. I would recommend this school, sport and teacher to anyone looking for a quality experience for their child and family.

We have recently returned to NKI after a brief hiatus. Our experience here has been nothing but positive. Not only are the children taught about Karate, Kyoshi’s teaching incorporates a constant stream of respect and a high moral code. He keeps it both challenging and fun, the session passes so quickly but not before the students learn a great deal every time.
