I am taking yoga flow and gentle yoga & meditation. I came in with the goals of increased flexibility for my very tight muscles, improved breathing/lung capacity and some relaxation/being in the moment. New diagnosis of COPD and asthma and old knee issues were a concern coming in as I'd been to larger yoga classes and ended up not doing so well. Sharon is a knowledgeable, nurturing instructor who because of her small classes and awareness of my issues can encourage me to do alternative positioning when necessary. The studio itself is charming, warm and cozy with a view of to the river and the mill - open the door and you enter into a magical healing space. My breathing and flexibility have improved as well as strength gained. My favorite part is when the class is over I float out of there focused on the moment and ready to tackle the world in a more mindful manner. Highly recommend.

This truly is a sanctuary! It’s gentle, it’s sweet and it’s safe. I adore my yoga practice here, the teachers are excellent- respectful of the yogic tradition, incredibly knowledgeable and oh so kind and wonderful. It’s a space without ego, no mirrors or worries of what brand of yoga clothing you have on. It’s a real treat getting to practice next to the river in downtown Exeter.

This yoga studio is truly a sanctuary to me! I recently participated in the Root + Rise workshop series - it did wonders for maintaining calm balance in my life! The atmosphere is comfortable - come as you are, no fancy outfits required, move as you need to, leave feeling lighter and more limber. Each teacher has years of yoga instruction experience and are attentive to adaptations that students may benefit from.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Sanctuary Yoga! From the moment you walk through the doors, the space truly lives up to its name—it feels calm, welcoming, and like a retreat from the busyness of everyday life.

What really makes this studio special is Sharon, who is simply an incredible instructor. She has such a warm, encouraging presence and an amazing ability to make everyone feel comfortable, whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years. Sharon’s classes strike the perfect balance between challenge and relaxation. She explains poses clearly, offers thoughtful modifications, and always creates a flow that feels both invigorating and grounding.

Her attention to detail and genuine care for her students shines through in every class. Beyond just guiding us through postures, Sharon fosters an environment where you can grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. I always leave her classes feeling lighter, stronger, and more centered.

If you’re looking for a yoga studio that truly embodies peace, community, and high-quality instruction, Sanctuary Yoga with Sharon is an absolute gem.

A true sanctuary. The minute I walked in, I knew I'd found my yoga home. Sharon and the staff at Sanctuary Yoga have created an incredible studio to nurture the body, spirit, and soul. The space looks out to the river, across to the Mills in Exeter. It's beyond soothing to stand in tree pose and watch the light and the ducks and the gentle beauty of nature. Sharon offers extraordinary care. She personalizes her approach to her student's needs; she asks about the week with authentic concern, always making sure to adapt to individual needs.

I love getting a tea and settling into my space, then practicing gentle yoga poses that remind me to slow and relax. There are meditative and restorative poses and a more advanced class. Sanctuary Yoga has become my space -- an essential part of my community. I cannot say enough about this special place. Highly recommend.

What an amazingly tranquil experience! I took Sharon‘s Slow Flow & Meditation class and it was perfect for my mind and body. I enjoyed the simple moves that left my body feeling stretched and at rest. My mind definitely slowed down and left the business of my day to day activities behind. Between Sharon’s soothing voice and the beautiful atmosphere and view, this was easily one of the most enjoyable yoga classes I’ve taken.

With knowledgeable instructors they are able to make you feel comfortable and to meet your needs, whether a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner. I enjoyed owner Sharon’s class, which was a perfect blend of flow and mindfulness.
