This is a great work out club. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is spotless and well maintained and organized. They have a wide variety of activities. Cardio, swimming, rock climbing, yoga, free weights and machines and so much more. They offer personal training and baby sitting while you work out. I’ve been a member of other gyms in the area and I can tell you this is the best one by far.

This is a wonderful family gym. The daycare offers you 1.5 hours a day of childcare. The children’s membership is an amazing price. I love the daycare staff.

The pool is always clean and kept up. I love the beach entrance to the splash zone. It is perfect for babies and toddlers to toddle around.

The equipment is generally always working and if not it is quickly fixed within a few days. The aesthetic of the gym is nice with a lot of natural light.

The staff is friendly.

The locker rooms are clean and well maintained. I took one star off because during the school year they let swim teams use the pool. These families clog up the hallways and let their kids run around the locks room hiding in lockers unattended. This happens in the evenings and is quite annoying. Sometimes mother will bring their sons in the ladies room who are way to old to be in there. It makes me uncomfortable to shower or undress as I do not want to expose myself to these boys.

I’ve been a member here for about three years now, and honestly, the owners, staff, and members have built an amazing community. The vibe in the gym is always great — it’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to showing up.

(None Gym Related) One thing I really like is how many people under thirty are repping anime apparel with motivating slogans. It’s not something you see too often, and it gives the place a unique, fun energy.

They’ve got a huge variety of equipment and are constantly adding more, so even during peak hours, you can always find something to use.

I’ve been a member twice, and it wasn’t worth it either time.

First time: I moved and got hit with early cancellation fees, which I paid. Back then, the gym was cleaner.
Second time (Salem location): I joined mainly for the steam room, but my first visit was gross—hair and general uncleanliness. It looked like nothing had been updated in years.
I requested a tour to see the new equipment but I never got it. I was ambushed by a "consultation" it felt more like a sales pitch. It was a fitness test that labeled me obese and pushed for a personal trainer. The tactics left me feeling horrible. Afterward I went back to my car and cried. I felt horribly ran through and judged. Afterward I strugged with anxiety to return.
The result, I paid the full contract but used the gym fewer than three times. I tried bringing people with me but the horrible sales interaction did its damage.
I originally went from 250 lbs to 215 lbs and felt proud. Three years later I regained almost all the weight, 248 lbs. I returned hopeful but the staff interaction highly discouraged me. I was told I wouldn’t see results without paying for a trainer and it was a horrible experience.
Sharing this now because someone elses review is spot on. The staff needs training and a sales-focused approach stood out in a bad way. There are many other options in Salem, NH with a more welcoming culture. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to others.

If you are looking for a solid gym to get your workouts in locally, I would personally look elsewhere knowing what I know now. The membership staff will not make 12 month contracts and cancellation fees clear when signing up on an apparent month to month basis. When you try to cancel even if you take the fee early, going into the club or calling will not suffice apparently. Front desk staff did not even identify themselves when answering my call and hung up on me. They will try to tell you to email Dana about cancelling, and distance themselves. Overall there is a lack of clarity and courtesy.

Update: after the manager/owner reached out I can confirm all the reviews about how they will negatively treat you. The owner claimed she "liked debating" with customers and doing things her way regardless but it came off aggressive. When she did clarify that my account would be cancelled through my last fee, she said that I filled out a cancellation form by writing an email to Dana. When I clarified (as my email was a few sentences asking about cancellation with no form filled out), she told me that it was the equivalent of filling one out and rudely asked me if "I would like to make a cancellation form for them". This took me aback a bit as it seemed so odd for someone reaching out to resolve issues to be so confrontational.

I would just make sure you know entirely before hand what you're getting into contractually and in general in dealing with people who may act this way. I have never once been treated this way by a gym and have had many memberships over the years between many clubs.

HIGHLY recommend this gym. Since joining it has given such a sense of community, and it truly is the type of place that makes you want to keep coming back. The staff is extremely personably, knows most members by name, and are the type to ask you how things are going and keep you motivated. It has by far the best equipment (cardio and free weights) in the area, and the price is worth every penny. I’ve been a member for 4 years now, and I’ll be signing back up for another year of membership and looking forward to continuing to be a part of The Workout Club. Great gym, great people, even better management. They have helped me numerous times and truly went out of their way to make sure I felt heard/appreciated. BEST GYM AROUND!

There is ZERO long-term business acumen from anyone in management. I highly encourage this team to invest in courses or training on understanding the customer and putting themselves in the shoes of their customers.

In a world full of competition, living in the black and white of contract terms when a family is forced to relocate temporarily across the country, will create for short term income in the form of a “cancellation fee”, but a long term loss in the form of a family who will never return.

As a former customer who has influence in the fitness industry, I will shed light to these issues and advise others to not join due to lack of flexibility from leadership.

The club is nice visually and the equipment is good, but relationships with customers is what creates loyalty, when there are 10 other gyms in town with equally nice equipment.

The best customer service doesn’t just please people. It makes the business stronger, smarter, and more sustainable.

If I could give -100 stars I would, I also put in a complain with the better business bureau which they are not even registered with.

My husband and I needed to move abruptly due to extenuating circumstances, and even through we have been loyal customers and were planning to return in a year to the gym (which obviously we will not be doing at this point) they refused to waive any cancellation fee and charged us $200. I will never use this facility again and will share my negative opinion with everyone and anyone. I even reached out personally to the owner and did not hear back. POOR BUSINESS

Have been lifting here for over 6 years. The owners, staff, and members cultivated a great community where the unfriendly rude people tend to filter themselves out for the most part. That fact that it's always busy is a testament for it being a great gym that EVERYONE wants to go to. They have tons of equipment and are always adding more so even during busy hours there's always machines to use. I suggest everyone try it for themselves and see you what you think.

I’ve been going to The Workout Club since April, and I found the gym and pool very clean, safe, and organized. That being said, they could benefit from putting feminine hygiene product disposal stations in the bathrooms. The staff members are professional, kind, and helpful. Misleading Advertising – Hidden Contract Terms – Proceed with Caution!

My wife and I were drawn to The Workout Club by what seemed like a straightforward online promotion:
"NO Enrollment, NO Billing for 30 Days, then 12 months at $49.95/mo – 30 DAY CANCELLABLE."
(See screenshot – this is exactly what was shown on their official website at the time.)

Based on this advertised flexibility, I signed up online on April 30, 2025, and we visited the club on May 2 to complete paperwork for our toddler. Sales manager Dylan provided basic information about the club and completed toddlers paperwork.

We only visited once on May 3. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good fit for our toddler, so we returned on May 28 to cancel—still within the 30 days. To our shock, Dylan informed us that we were locked into a 12-month contract, and could only cancel by paying a $250 fee per person. This completely contradicted the “30 DAY CANCELLABLE” claim that had prompted us to sign up.

We returned the next day, May 29, and spoke with another sales manager, Seth, showing him the still-live offer on their website. He admitted the wording was misleading and said he would escalate the matter. We never received a follow-up.

On June 2, we called again. Seth transferred us back to Dylan, who repeated the same rigid stance. We returned in person—again, no help. They quietly removed the "30 DAY CANCELLABLE" text from their website after our complaints, but by then the damage was done. We’re now stuck paying for a membership we tried to cancel on time, or facing steep cancellation penalties.

Be very careful—read all the fine print, because the advertised flexibility did not apply in our experience. This feels more like a bait-and-switch than a transparent business practice.

The family pool and hot tub have been bitterly cold now going on a week! Really a shame during school vacation week. It seems it falls on deaf ears when we report something is wrong and they wait until too late to look into it. Hoping Tuscan adds a pool to the village! Members are leaving. I am utterly appalled that I even have to write this, but here we are. I am disgusted by the way my grandmother was treated after doing nothing but offering her own opinion on the way things have been going in regards to the ongoing construction. Being called by Amy, the owner, and being told to amend her review to paint them in a more favorable light was already absolutely out of pocket- but to then be threatened by her and hung up on? Unacceptable. To make matters worse, the owner then sent her son Dylan to once again question why she had reviewed them so negatively, and when asked if he had spoken to his mother about her reasoning, she was once more spoken to rudely- ending in the cancelation of her membership, over expressing her opinion. I have been a member off and on a long time. It's a nice gym but the hot tub is constantly being worked on, out of order or as today, cold. Not just not hot, as cool as the pool. I come to this gym for the therapeutic benefit of hot tub but often find i can't use It.
Recently, they closed a bathroom and are into a selfish room, the most ridiculous thing I can even think of for a room. You can't use the huge room they have fitness classes in..theres almost no strict space so if you want to stretch or do yoga, stay home or plan to attend one of the 2 yoga classes they hold a week. Another enormous waste and inconvenience. Lastly, they took the sort of large space of women's only section and made it into private training. Now all the women have to squish into the corner. And there are a lot of women who use that area..I don't workout out with weights here anymore bc its so uncomfortable in women's only area now. So if your a young guy who likes to take pics of yourself, this gym is for you!
