Swimming pool is decent, but most of the time 1 lane out of 3 is taken for swimming lessons for kids that do not belong to that GYM. There is no schedule is posted when the lane is taken for the lessons.

Since there is no lifeguard, some people entering swimming pool without taking shower, wearing t-shorts or even wearing walking shoes. Nobody seems to care.

Love the gym and love the workers here. I have to give it a one star because of a few things. Machines get broken and stay broken for so long and they do not get fixed. All of the water fountains are broken and since people cannot fill up their waters, the only water that is accessible is to buy a 5$ water. Do better 24hr fitness. Dear Management,
I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the inconsistent enforcement of your pool usage policies and the unacceptable behavior I experienced from a trainer/member at your facility.

On Sunday at approximately 7:45 PM, I briefly entered the pool after using the sauna, solely to cool off. I waited until two individuals(students) using the two lanes of the pool had exited before entering. Shortly after, a trainer/fellow patron (it is unclear whether this individual is a staff member or a paid patron of this gym or neither) approached me in a disrespectful and aggressive manner, loudly demanding that I leave the pool.

I verified the posted hours, which clearly state that the pool closes at 7:00 PM on Sundays. There is no signage indicating that access is extended for select individuals/patrons, nor is there any mention that specific patrons have control over the pool after closing. If such special privileges exist, they need to be explicitly posted on the wall and communicated to all members. Otherwise, the rules should apply equally to everyone, with no exceptions.

This incident was completely inappropriate. No member—trainer or not—has the right to yell at or police other patrons. If this individual does have after-hours access or instructional privileges, it must be clearly marked on the wall.

I expect management to take this issue seriously and address both the lack of transparency around pool use and the conduct of this individual. If I am confronted again in such a manner, I will treat it as harassment and escalate the matter accordingly.

Please clarify and publicly post your pool access policies, including who is allowed in the pool and at what times. We are all paid patrons of this gym and deserve nothing less than fairness for all. One standards and rule should apply to all of us.

I absolutely love the 24 Hour Fitness in Ramsey! The gym is always clean, well-organized, and has everything you need—tons of machines, free weights, and functional training areas. This gym is overly crowded with old machines and lack of equipment. There is one chest fly, a horrible leg extension machine, which is always hogged because this place is small and has hundreds of members there at once.

And there’s no A/C, that’s how cheap they are. Instead they put these huge fans that do nothing. I can’t stand this place. Get a membership at powerhouse

This gym has become an absolute disgrace. Once a classic, well-maintained facility, it has completely gone downhill. It’s filthy, reeks of neglect, and nobody seems to care. Machines are constantly out of service, weights are left scattered everywhere because no one bothers to put them back, and the whole place feels abandoned by management.

The sauna? An utter nightmare. It smells worse than a barnyard—actually, calling it a barnyard would be a compliment. They claim to clean it, but that’s a joke. It used to be cleaned daily; now, maybe once or twice a week, and even then, it still looks horrific. Filthy sewer water seeps onto the floor, and to top it off, it doesn’t even get hot enough anymore.

And the showers—don’t even get me started. The walls are covered in mold, bugs crawl around freely, and I’ve seen the same garbage sitting on the floor for weeks. It’s beyond disgusting.

The toilets are absolutely filthy and never get cleaned—just looking at them feels like a health hazard. This gym has gone from a respected establishment to an unsanitary, neglected mess. Truly shameful.

I’m giving three stars bc of the staff that work at the Ramsey location. The gym facility gets only 1 star!
Really great employees from the trainers, to the front desk staff, to the cleaning crew!!
Now, with the equipment that always seems to be broken, the crappy moldy looking bathrooms. Also, when it rains, there are buckets everywhere to catch the water leaking from the ceiling.
I feel like the gym is in decline. Your employees constantly apologizing for all the inconveniences. It’s really sad bc the gym is in a great location. When it first opened, we signed up immediately leaving NYSC just down the road. You have great employees, great members(members are always friendly and approachable)
To the suits that run corporate…take the time to visit and invest some $$$ for your members. You will get more members as well as more paid training with the master trainers. People pay for amenities nowadays. Take note!

I tried to swim today. I was told by the swim instructor that he rents the lane. He only had 1student in the lane. It could have been shared. He told me he pays for the lane. I told him I pay for a membership! The club should not allow this. This guy and his class are not anymore important than any other member. I want this guy and his class removed. Possibly have his class on off hours. The lane should have been at least shared. I'm not happy about this policy of screwing over members so management can make extra money. Fuming .

The gym is disgusting! Black mold in every single shower, bandaids and garbage all over the floor for multiple days in a row... The gym is never cleaned. Sauna and steam smell bad amd are dirty. Over half the machines are broken... can rarely find one not in use that doesn't have an "out of service" sign on. Paper towel machines always empty.. the staff is very rude and doesn't care about issues presented. And there is a huge influx of teenagers who have backpacks all over gym floor and they sit on machines on their phone taking up space for real gym goers... so many issues here and mostly has all happened last year or so. Management is lack there of and doesn't care. This new Management is horrible since the old ones left. Its so sad to see a once great gym turned into a filthy gross unsafe and missmanaged low quality gym.

This gym was very good for a while, especially given the price point. I'm still a member but plan to leave soon. A light above the benches has been strobing for literally 3 weeks and they haven't even taken 5 minutes to go up on a ladder and unscrew the bulb. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. The gym overall is filthy but used to be clean. Not sure why it's all the sudden falling apart but if the cleanliness and maintenance were addressed I would happily remain a member and would recommend them.

There is always something broken- treadmill, stair master, knobs on machines, the water bottle re-filler, hand grips on the machines, batteries in the stationary bikes, the broken light over the free lights that been flashing for a month, lack of or broken disinfectant cleaner bottles and holders (disinfectant cleaner bottles sitting on the water fountains). All they have to say is “we only have 1 maintenance person”. Overall it’s a nice gym if you can look past the nuances every day.

I want to love this gym but I struggle.
1. There is way more cardio equipment than strength training equipment. You have to constantly wait for equipment. Not even half of the cardio is being used. Suggestion get rid of some of the cardio and add more strength training machines.

3. I see young people walking around working out in socks especially near free weights. That’s an accident waiting to happen.

Always packed with noisy high school or college students. Sometimes very destructive. Pool is not usable during high school swim season because they occupy half of pool and they think they deserve i despite all other members are paying membership fee. Sometimes swim team trainer uses 2lanes out of 3 lanes and more than 5-6 people are just waiting for their turn to use the lane to share one lane only. There was no explanation or warning at all when joining here. If you think pool is the one of the main reason to join here, avoid. Almost 3months, the pool is not usable at all

Edit: it has same issue reported another person 6month ago, about swim lesson occupies lanes.. seems like management does not have intention to improve anything. I think they do not care about feedback Not worth the money

Needs staff that actually enforce rules...

The entitled, rude, disrespectful bald ginger man with a beard who works out late nights should be banned at this point. He rarely parks in actual parking spots which almost causes car accidents (makes his own parking spots wherever he chooses in his black, base trim, tinted accord), reserves several machines at once for himself, and is now working out shirtless and barefoot??? He needs to have some respect for other members. No one wants to see his skin and bones body (it's not nearly as impressive as he thinks it is).

Came in for a 3 day pass and they told me it's not actually free and need to pay 20$. If you don't sign up at the end of the 3 days you lose the 20$ so it's really a 20$ 3 day pass which is false advertising and a rip off. I ended up signing up and regret it. The place is so dirty, and the bathrooms are gross. I used to come here years ago and it was in way better shape. Don't recommend signing up here. I see people walk in for free anyway and the staff don't care. It's a scam and managment is garbage.

I lost 31 lbs with James
I started with James the last week of Jan I was 237 now it's June and I'm down 206 and feel great. I'm not done yet I have another 20 lbs to go and I'm sure it be gone by the end of June . James tough caring and teachers how to eat and what to do. You want a trainer who wants to help you with his heart. Very upset that they are discontinuing the lifeguards. The 24 hour Fitness Pool on Route 4 in Paramus stopped their lifeguards and the pool and hottub have become a cesspool. They smell and are very cloudy. The lifeguards are the only ones who insure the pool is clean. Additionally, there are swimmers who "flop" into the pool when they enter. One of them almost landed right on top of me. The lifeguard spoke very strongly to this swimmer and he has stopped doing it. But I am sure he will go right back to it if there is no one around monitoring him. Please bring back the lifeguards!

Summary: don’t come here. Overcrowded, filthy, rude & incompetent staff, broken equipment.

This gym used to be great when it first opened. Now it honestly may be the worst gym in New Jersey, as it’s for sure the worst in the area by far. fitness area always seems to be overrun by groups of UNSUPERVISED 12-16 year olds. How is this not a legal liability??? They hog equipment just chatting and fooling around again - hopefully this place gets slapped with a lawsuit one day.

Bathrooms are disgusting - literal fecal mater on the toilet seats. Debating contacting the department of health it’s gotten so bad.

Some of the staff is nice and polite but others are incredibly rude and start to rush people out as it gets closer to closing time.

Equipment itself is decent - lot of updates could be done. AC is always set on way too high a temperature.

Can’t wait to find a new gym because this business doesn’t deserve any more of my money and it certainly doesn’t deserve any of yours.

I signed up for 24 hour fitness at Ramsey at Thanksgiving time. I've used the Ramsey gym as well as the Paramus gym. I'm very disappointed in the equipment on the elliptical and it’s rattling and shaking as I’m working out. The equipment is not being kept up. This also includes the bikes in cycle class.

A few weeks back the class that I like on Thursday night was canceled. they no longer have pump class on Thursday evening. One of the reasons I joined this gym was because of the classes. In the few months that I’ve been here classes have been canceled or there aren’t enough classes for me after work.

I use the elliptical religiously, but getting on the machines has proven to be a challenge. There are so many people using the machines and waiting in line to get on the machine and this impedes my workout.

The women's locker room and restroom have been consistently untidy every time I've gone to Paramus it's very disappointing. I'm scared to use the toilet because they're just not looking clean and kept up.

I also did a review for the Paramus 24 hour fitness on YELP and on Google reviews. The manager reached out to me and asked me to submit my concerns on their online portal which I did a month ago and no one has reached out to me.

I drive 30 minutes to come here and pass at least 20 other gyms along the way. Why? Because this is a great gym. Anything you could want or need is available. The layout makes it easy to go from free weights to strength machines to crossfit, and back. They have a TRX, very underrated, and of course plenty of cardio options. There’s a pool, sauna, whirlpool, and steam room. This is a big gym with plenty of places to find a quiet area to work out if that’s your preference.
Dimitri, the General Manager, and Alphonse, the Fitness Manager, are knowledgeable, friendly, care about the gym, great at what they do, and love what they do.
It’s got a nice atmosphere with all kinds of people, from newbies to body builders, from young teenagers to 90+ year olds. Definitely a Judgement-Free zone. I’ve seen a few comments complaining about young people in the gym. “Get Off My Lawn!” is what I hear when I read that. I find it refreshing to see teenagers doing physical activities instead of playing video games.

I've been here for a few years, and I like it overall. The yearly membership is the best deal. There is a pool, sauna, hot tub, lots of cardio and weight equipment, classes, and the large classroom is open to use when class isn't in session. I wish there was a little bit more stretching area, but usually, I go at times that aren't super busy, so most of the time, it is fine. No towel service, but for the price range, I wouldn't expect it. I think you can buy a towel if you are in a pinch. Showers could be cleaner is probably my only complaint. The rest of the locker room is usually pretty clean, but the showers seem like they need a good scrubbing to get the water and soap residue off.

It’s too overcrowded to comfortably come in whenever you want. There are probably better gyms than this. But for now, it’s first come first served, and if you wanna get in your deadlifts or squats during normal waking hours it’s going to take up your precious time. Probably the worst gym in northern Bergen County. Due to discount memberships, buddy passes, and summer specials the place is packed. It's near impossible to get in a quality workout without waiting or altering your routine because machines and benches are all taken (many by people sitting around, staring at their phones). Personal trainers cordon off whole areas during peak hours, making it even harder to workout in the already over-packed gym. The facility is not cleaned enough to keep up with the crowds and there is often sweet scum on the treadmills and dust-balls on the floors. Staff is unhelpful and blasts music, with even louder, repetitive gym advertisements, making it impossible to hear your own headphones. The only thing this place has going for it is the location and some nice members.

The problem here is kids in charge of kids. Front desk people to busy on there phones or talking to each other, Kids running around swearing, I even witnessed two young kids making out on one of the machines. This 24 hour gym is outstanding in comparison to its 2 neighboring 24 gym in cleanliness for one biggest but also has outstanding Mgr in Dimitry and all in staff phenomenal and personable and friendly. I went there since it first opened and for years it was awesome, then around 2018-2019 they simply stopped cleaning. Since the pandemic THEY HAVE NOT CLEANED THE GYM!! I went in there for the first time in a while and I couldn’t believe how vile it is. The stairmasters all have bad chains and the treadmills are never serviced. ALL the cardio equipment have months worth of sweat on them. When you walk down the stairs to the bathrooms, if you look the the left and right the stairs have INCHES of dust and dust balls and papers that have been there for YEARS!! The sauna is VILE and is never cleaned. And with the addition of free highschool memberships it’s just kids talking and using all the free weights, which again, you can see are disgusting. They do NOTHING about complaints. All they’ll do for this google review is copy and paste some cut and paste response “we have work to do” such a joke and slap in the face to people who use to like going here. There was a huge group of regulars and we all left. The GM doesn’t care about the condition of the gym and the district manager could care less. It’s ashame. AND they close at 10pm now, not even 11 or 12. There are 4-5 gyms in a 5 mile radius with the same hours, join them. Trust me, this place has fallen off so bad it’s disgusting, and with covid maybe or maybe not coming back I would NEVER go in there. It literally is NEVER cleaned at all. The sauna is vile. This place is now DISGUSTING!!!

The group fitness program is very poorly run. The few classes offered are frequently canceled. For example, this week 1/3 of the classes are canceled half way through the week. No effort is made to provide substitutes when the instructor is off. The room itself is poorly maintained; of the two ceiling fans, one has been broken for almost two years!

Additionally, the rest rooms are poorly maintained and not adequately cleaned.

Just look at 24 Hour’s canned responses to the poor reviews posted here. They make minimal effort to address negative feedback; just post a canned response and move on to the next complaint. Nothing changes.

Lol where do we even begin. 24 hour fitness that never recovered and was able to open 24 hours since Covid. Their excuse: we can’t hire staff. All the other 24 hour fitnesses some how managed to recover except this one. Dirty and when tried to mention it to one staff member I was told to basically go find another gym (not even exaggerating). Equipment was never updated since day one 2017 or 18 can’t remember exactly but anyways we are still dealing with the same equipment. Sometimes I think they some how were forgotten about from the main 24 hour fitness corporate and that’s their loophole to get away from all the nonsense. Anyways I reported it and several others that are making it a point to report the poor management to the corporate office. They need to rebrand and start over.

This WAS my favorite gym for years but has continued to go downhill and after they let go of the best Zumba instructor I am fed up with their BS. I took 5 classes a week with Travis, and I enjoyed and looked forward to every single one of them. This gym made a big mistake! They don’t care about anyone! My family and friends will be cancelling! Also the locker rooms and saunas aren’t that clean to add to it. Go somewhere else!

Travis was the reason my entire family decided to join the gym. He's an outstanding Zumba instructor at 24 Hour Fitness, with his infectious energy and dynamic personality. Although we've tried other Zumba instructors, they are all dull and put us to sleep. It's unfortunate that Travis is no longer working there, as the gym's quality will decline. Travis can never be replaced! We're such big fans of Travis that we follow him wherever he goes, which means we will be canceling our gym membership.

I was disappointed by Ramsey’s customer service for front desk. I’m saddened to hear that Travis Jackson is no longer employed by the gym. I would attend multiple classes a week at different 24hour sites. His classes and the community that his classes created brought a lot of joy to my week while also providing attendees with an intensive workout. I will not be renewing my membership at 24Hour.

Wow. Was so close on joining this gym until I found out that the popular instructor, Travis, was let go. I know a few dozen people in bergen county that follow him around location to location. They told me to get a 3 day pass and take his class and it was AMAZING. One of the best zumba classes ever and I was so ready to join just for his class but now that we wont be there, I don’t see any reason to join this gym. The reason why he was let go is going around… doesn’t seem reasonable. Shame on you guys. Really dropped the ball on this one.

My heart is so heavy to learn that today you let an amazing instructor go. His name was Travis Jackson.

Travis Jackson was a dedicated employee who taught 6 a week throughout Bergen County locations including Englewood Cliffs, Ramsey, and Paramus.

All of his Zumba and body pump classes were filled with at least 30 to 40 people and close to 50 to 60 people on his weekend Zumba classes,

Please bring back Travis Jackson to teach at 24 hour Fitness. His legacy will be missed and he has a huge following. Meaning multiple people will cancel their memberships including me, my fiancé and family if he is not there.

He is the only instructor that consistently gives you a challenge each week for each class.

The staff is really nice, and the selection of equipment is very good. However this is the cheapest place around and it shows. Damaged equipment stays broken for weeks on end, the roof leaks when it rains, and the bathrooms are often pretty gross. Often there is no parking, and people choose to park in the fire lane resulting in a hazardous situation for everyone. The gym is often overrun with loud and obnoxious teens - there's plenty of nice kids too, but it seems like this gym is the default hangout location for local high schoolers to just stand around and chat. Overall the price makes it worthwhile, but there's a lot of downsides if you're an adult who just wants to get in and out.

This location is very dirty and the staff is not trained very well.
I switched to 24 hour fitness because I needed all the extra equipment. The 1 star is for the variety of equipment.
Two out of three times I used the upstairs unisex bathroom it reeked of urine and floor was wet and sticky. I’ve been sick twice in 5 months and I hardly ever get sick. I telework so I’m always home and the gym. That’s it.
The staff is not that knowledgeable. The guy that did my membership took forever and you could tell he didn’t really know what he was doing. Another staff member was working out and took the bench press from me. It looked totally free - no weights were on it and he was talking to his friends for quite some time. He walked over, started to take my weights off (without saying anything), then told me he was using the bench. I was at a loss for words. I’ve worked in and been in the fitness industry for a long time and he definitely does not know gym etiquette.
Managers- Well, get better managers. Then train your staff and make sure they are following a cleaning schedule (and actually cleaning).
I will not be going back to this location. It’s a little out of the way but I’ll be using another location that hopefully has better management.

This used to be a fantastic gym. It was clean and had nice caveats. Since it reopened last year it's really gone down hill. I've contacted corporate to comment on the lack of cleanliness and haven't received a reply. I'm not sure if they clean this place more than once a week. Meanwhile, the customer is responsible for cleaning the equipment. Not to mention, it's no longer open 24 hours a day and there's no towel services all while I'm paying more than I did a few years ago. I was at Retro earlier in the week and they seem to have their act together and it's much more price conscious.

I have been too almost 100 gyms in the last year due to traveling and working out every day. This gym has the best equipment and is the best all around gym I have been to during that time . I like very uncrowded gyms so this gym is not among my three favorites in the country because it's a big gym and it gets crowded. Overall, this is one of my 15 favorite gyms in the country. It's my favorite of the large crowded gyms. The equipment is amazing and they have a nice pool with a jacuzzi. The hours are fantastic for a gym of this size. They open first thing at 5 and close at 930 at night, even on the weekends. You can't beat that. On top of all that, they have these two extremely nice and helpful and professional employees named Sean and Yussof. I can't say enough about these two guys. They have been extremely supportive of me in my attempt to recover from a very debilitating stroke. They make me feel extremely welcome and they brighten my day when I come here. Great gym.

I was a member since 2017, till last month. This gym has truly gone down hill! They did away with towel service, the locker rooms are so poorly maintained, from the showers being filthy, the sauna is never cleaned. Rename the gym it’s not opened 24 hours and I’m sure it never will be again. They have used the excuse of deep cleaning over night but really they just don’t wanna pay staff much less clean the place!
There’s plenty of other options in the area. Pay a little more but you get what you pay for. Buyer beware!

I am a very new customer at this gym. Went to retro for two years and switched here. It is only my third day at this gym and the staff, specifically a woman named Nicole took my appetite away sadly.

My workout time is in the morning at around 7AM which I am seeking for positive and uplifting energy to start my day.

On my third day in this gym, this morning I was greeted with attacks by this Woman Nicole.

While I understand the importance of wearing a mask, I also have health conditions. I wear my mask steady for 95% of my workout. While climbing up 3000 steps on a staircases with a mask on can cause health issues, I feel just human and entitled enough to take it off a bit every two min to catch a breath just like one needs to have a sip on their water. In any case, if there is a issue with that and I cannot catch a breath there should be a way to confront a customer rather then staring at them from the far and giving them attitude and attacks with pride.

It's disgusting to me. I will be seeking my $350 refund and move away.

If you need a gym with uifting and positive vibes, this is not your place to be.
Feels like my entire day started off the wrong way now.

This is a clean gym, where people put away there weights clean up after themselves, and the staff is very friendly. I live in Paramus and this one is by far better than the Paramus one. This one is also actually 24 hours, and you can go anytime past 11:00 and there is an empty gym which is great if you want to get a fast workout. Definitely glad I joined.

The place has imposed “green” on everybody, even if you don’t believe in it. Typical elitism. They have taken away towels to save water but not lowered their fees. Not worth the money. Say that they are Stopping towels in June but they stopped giving early May with dumb reasons like they are in washer and takes 45 min. I’ve brought two friends on different occasions to check out 24 and when you tell front desk your here to start a 3 day trial, they grab a manager to try talking you into a membership. Not Handicap compliant and Accessible! As a member for 10 years, for the most part I've been pleased with 24 hour fitness locations in 4 states. However the new Ramsey location is in my opinion a very poorly designed club. Unreasonably small amount of lockers are on main level, you must go down one floor to lower level, which means you check in on the upper level, go down to lower level to change, back up to upper level to workout, then back to lower level to shower and back up to upper level to leave gym. This is extremely annoying.. cardio and weight area is small, with limited number of machines. Sorry, after several months I still feel frustrated with this place. Second problem is I have brought 2 guests here to sign up and they both became frustrated with the long process and hassle of trying the facility, both walked out after about an hour plus wait. Third problem is there is a cleaning guy who is literally in your face with a backpack vaccum cleaning. This seems to be a constant problem. Other issues are water dispensers have strong metallic tasting water. Mens locker room and shower area, is dirty and could be cleaner. In short, there are 2 gyms nearby that are much much better choices, and these issues don't exist
