It's time to get your pride flags out ladies and gentleman. For such a hardcore body building gym, these guys have rules that only apply to true softies.
Make sure you're extra sweet to the equipment in this gym, otherwise the employees will come up and start screaming that you're slamming weight. LOL. Want to speak to a manager? Not in here, they'll just lie and say they're not around while they're on the phone talking in front of you.
No powerlifting, no weightlifting, can't go heavy on plate loaded machines (for example-Leg Press)
What's the point of going to a gym?

I joined Atilis Gym in November 2025 while it was still under the management of the former owner. Unfortunately, my experience declined after I noticed the bathrooms were poorly maintained—mirrors left dirty and then i saw toilets that appeared deliberately stuffed and overflowing. Out of concern for the gym, I brought this to the attention of the front desk, only to be told, “Maybe it’s cleaner down the block at Planet Fitness.” My goal was to have it noticed as the owner had previously told me he does not enter the ladies locker only his wife does. And I did not see either of them it was not done out of malice but of getting it noticed and fixed.
I later spoke with the new owner, but instead of addressing the issue, I was made to feel unwelcome. and unheard as he said I stand by my employee, even though he was very rude. False statements were spread about me, and despite paying for my membership (3 for $99),since 11/2025 I was accused of receiving it for free, which is not true. I also requested a prorated refund, which I have not received.
My only intention was to prevent damage to the facilities and support the gym I cared about. Unfortunately, what unfolded was unnecessary drama and misinformation, including personal attacks on my business page that I had to resolve through legal channels.
I sincerely wish Atilis Gym well as it moves forward under new management. Starting out in this industry is not easy, but respect for members and openness to constructive feedback will make all the difference. Please remember when reading reviews that there are always three sides to every story—this is simply mine. I sent a self addressed stamped envelope for a prorated refund as i was paid in full for 3 mths and used only 2 weeks of the membership, the owner has failed to refund my money to date 11/12/25 he kept my money that he did not earn! Beware!

Dirty. Was worried about getting a skin issue from their lack of cleanliness and wet towels that are used to clean machines. Much cleaner options all around Brick, Point and Toms River.

Beware of this unprofessional gym owner. I was terminated WITHOUT CAUSE after my
husband raised legitimate concerns about the gym’s new management. Instead of addressing
the issues, the owner retaliated with false claims and refuses to issue my refund. I have
been a member for two years with zero complaints — not once has ANYONE from management
ever approached me about any problem. Dishonest, defensive, and completely
unprofessional.
5 weeks ago my husband posted a story on his private social media NOT TAGGING THE GYM mentioning the new gym hours- AGAIN he did not tag the gym- yet the owner took offense and reacted as if it were a personal attack. That alone shows how easily he lets his ego override professionalism. My husband privately messaged the owner last week mentioning unsanitary conditions in the men’s locker room — there
were flies and it hadn’t been cleaned. Instead of addressing his concern professionally, the
owner retaliated by canceling both of our memberships.
The conversation between the owner and my husband had absolutely nothing to do with me, yet the owner chose to terminate my membership as well, even though I had no involvement whatsoever.
Since then, the owner has refused to respond to my refund request (again paid through
February) — and I’ve also asked to cancel my father-in-law's membership, who suffered a stroke years
ago and can only attend with us since he cannot drive. He is also paid until February. Despite emails and Facebook
messages, he’s ignored every attempt at communication.
Now he’s retaliating with false accusations, claiming we “don’t pay, break things, and don’t
clean up.” Those statements are completely untrue. He even threatened to contact every gym in the area to blacklist us, which is not only unprofessional but completely unethical.
In 2 years, no one- not an employee, trainer , or manager-ever brought a single complaint to our attention.
These false claims only surfaced after my husband mentioned legitimate concerns about cleanliness.
He only responds when his ego is bruised, not when professionalism, honesty, or
accountability are required. Under the previous owners, this gym was friendly, fair, and
professional. Sadly, that changed with new ownership.
My mother was diagnosed with leukemia 2 and 1/2 months ago, and as her primary caretaker, the
gym was supposed to be an outlet for stress — not a source of it. Instead, I’ve been met with
disrespect, retaliation, and unprofessional behavior.
If you’re considering joining this gym, be aware that raising any legitimate concern may lead
to retaliation and false accusations instead of professionalism.
I just want to say that if the owner had responded to my initial request or addressed the situation directly and not ignored me, this review would never have been written.

Note: This is personal opinion and should not be taken as actual fact.
Old ownership, great. New ownership, bully mentality.
Previous owners were very kind, approachable, respectful (to employees and customers alike), always had an open line of communication and genuinely cared about their employees. Fast forward a few years, gym is under new ownership, with many employees and members having left due to the new attitude, disrespect, poor communication (it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it) and a general lack of empathy towards others.
“Old school” gym mentality I can respect, treating others without respect, is intolerable. Too many gyms to choose from at the Jersey Shore. You’ll enjoy yourselves elsewhere.
Again, just an opinion piece.
*Additional note in reference to the response. My wife resigned via text, then received a call with the owner yelling in the background as our newborn was crying. She then received a cease and desist TEXT based on false claims and now ownership states they have negative testimonials and texts regarding her. Please don’t use the word accountability, it’s a one way street with this business. It’s embarrassing to communicate via Google Review when a mature phone call could’ve been had in the first place. Feel free to edit your response.
**Not a good business look arguing with your reviews. Also, since you enjoy legal terms, I’d appreciate you not slandering my wife. Best of luck moving forward!

The energy at this gym is unmatched!! As a woman, I really appreciate how comfortable and welcoming the environment is. Even with such a diverse crowd, everyone is respectful and focused on their workouts. I feel no shame with legging and underboob sweat stains here lol. The women’s locker room is one of the best I’ve seen in a non-corporate gym. Always clean, well stocked, and plenty of showers. When I first started coming here, the female owner personally showed me around the gym which was awesome! The dry sauna is a great bonus and perfect for relaxing after a workout. Very cool, Highly recommend!

I’ve been a member here since the doors first opened, and I can honestly say this gym is finally back on track. Before the new owners took over, things were going downhill fast—mess everywhere, no real structure, and the atmosphere was fading. But now? Total 180. The new ownership has fostered exactly what a serious training environment should be: hardcore, focused, and welcoming to anyone. The gym is fully equipped with everything you could ask for. Saunas, machines, free weights, specialty gear, you name it, it’s here. They’ve been making all the right changes in my opinion. Negatives are coming from the young kids and Karens who are upset that someone finally put a foot down when they tried turning the gym into their personal playground or social hour. Watching them have meltdowns over rules that actually make the gym better is honestly hilarious. If that’s your style, you probably won’t like it here. But if you’re here to TRAIN, this place is exactly where you want to be. This gym is on the up and up, best decision I’ve made is sticking around to watch it thrive now..

First of all, there is a lot to say about this amazing gym.
1. BEST gym at the jersey shore. Has everything you need, great working equipment, great hours, friendly people, and clean!
2. The old owners were awesome and the new owners Billy and his wife are top notch. They are passionate about health and fitness, super friendly, approachable, and know how to maintain and set up the gym properly. Also all the trainers are top notch. Oh yeah, Rich Gaspari trains there too. He was the first Arnold Classic winner and one of the biggest names in bodybuilding.
3. Pictures of bodybuilders everywhere which enhance motivation and create the old school bodybuilding vibe.
4. Lastly but not least, wanted to thank Atilis Gym for existing and for all that the great staff does to maintain and grow one of the best gyms in the northeast.
Oh yeah, the rates are great too! Very affordable.
Thank you Atilis and the new owners! G-d bless you all!

I’ve been coming to this gym for a while now and I think the changes being made are fantastic. The updated layout actually makes the space feel more open and efficient. and I find it easier to move between equipment without feeling cramped. The new machines are a huge plus too. Change can take a little getting used to, but it’s clear the new owners are invested in improving the gym and keeping things fresh for members. On top of that, the friendly staff and great community atmosphere haven’t changed a bit. If anything, they’ve gotten even better.

Dropped in for the open house while visiting family in Brick and all I can say is, damn. This place is a lifter’s dream. The new layout is insane. Everything is clean, organized, and built for people who actually want to train hard. No fluff, no gimmicks. Just straight-up iron, grit, and energy.
The vibe is unmatched, and the people? Real ones. You can feel the intensity and passion the second you walk in.
I’m stationed down in the D.C. area, but every time I’m back in town, this is where I’m training. Respect to the Atilis crew for creating a space that’s all about hard work and pushing limits. Can’t wait to come back and get after it again.

Do not allow your underage children to go to this gym. The owner thinks it is ok to publicly shame minors on social media. My son has been going to this gym since it opened. A few days ago my son left his weights on a machine thinking that someone else was going to use them next. The owner went onto his security footage and posted a picture of my two underage sons next to the machine and called them clowns with a clown emoji. My son started receiving tons of messages from gym friends and parents upset about what the gym had posted. As the parent I called the gym and sent messages on the social media post and got no reply from the owner.
My son sent an apology earlier for the misunderstanding and leaving the weights. The owner then posted my minor son’s private apology on his social media. My son asked him to take the post down, which he did hours after putting it up but he felt the need to lecture my son on how he taught him a lesson. Meanwhile the owner never called me or messaged me back once, the person paying the membership. His actions were cruel, careless and uncalled for. My son is a really good kid. Even worked at the gym during events for free in the past racking weights. This behavior can’t be tolerated as social media has real consequences for minors and the fact that the owner refused to speak to me is just awful.
Needless to say we will never go back here. If you have an underage child that goes here alone, beware because the owners don’t care about the rights of minors.

Good gym, good machines, okay people. Just don’t hope it’s humid and hot out, they try and save dimes by keeping the doors open as long as possible until the entire gym complains. And hope you don’t need the kilos since they have just enough for 1 person to use the reds, once 2 people need it, have fun waiting.

Have been a member at so many different gyms throughout my life and Atilis Gym is my favorite. Staff is awesome. No contract. They offer veteran rates. Old school gym feel with brand new, top of the line equipment. Hours of operation are perfect to fit anyone's schedule. Place is always clean and being able to use a nice sauna after crushing a workout is the icing on the cake. Membership rates are more than fair for what you get here.

I just moved here recently and started with LA Fitness. I'm glad I switched over. Everyone seems nice, everyone keeps to themselves, and if you're new, I'm sure they'd be willing to help you out if you had questions. Equipment is in great shape and the place is very clean. Doesn't have all the glam that the bigger gyms have, but I personally think that makes this place better. Also, they sell supplements and merch. Hopefully, they start selling shorts in the future?

The way this gym was reconfigured after the previous tenant closed it's doors, is such a great improvement. There is plenty of equipment and free weights. There is also a "booty room" away from the main floor which has some really effective machines for training that area of the body. A boxing room with a personal trainer is also available. As well as both male and female trainers who can help anyone interested in personal training sessions. I liked it a lot and joined today. There is no initiation fee or hidden maintenance fees. It is one price month to month with no contracts. Not corporately owned which is a huge plus in my book.

I heard about this new gym and today I came in to try it out. When I walked in the person at the counter was really friendly and showed me around. One of my best workouts, the equipment was on point, plenty of Arsenal Equipment, Hammer Strength and more. My girlfriend loved the fact that there was so many great leg pieces, the new Booty Builder equipment was great. Then both locker rooms have a real big, new Sauna that is unreal.
So we considered joining, the person at the counter explained its real easy, no contracts and no hidden fees. For us that was very important, so many other gyms try to lock you in and charge crazy additional fees. We both joined and I would recommend you come check it out.

I went to check out this gym a few days after it opened and I was quite disappointed. All the Instagram videos the owner talked about all the new equipment he was getting. Most of it is old equipment. I used to train at this location when it was Powerhouse and then Retro. I think it is the exact equipment that was auctioned off when Retro closed. Yes he has a few new pieces from Arsenal, but the rest of it seems just ok. And the place was filthy. Same old beat up floor in most of the gym, not vacuumed. I am not a stranger to training at a Hardcore gym like Apollon gym in Edison, but c'mon at least put some paper towels with the disinfecting spray bottles, not a dish rag. It looks like he just threw the place together. A new gym should be a little bit newer. I'm not impressed.
