Traveling thru the area on business and found this gem of a yoga studio.
Ed and his staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and help you become a better yogi with their years of knowledge and experience.
After every class I walked out feeling refreshed.

From my first class, I felt like I belonged! Everyone from staff to customers is warm and welcoming. Classes are challenging but in a good way. Completely unpretentious studio...no need to wear Lululemon (but go for it if you choose). Studio is clean and they offer homemade ginger juice (delicious!!) and quality merch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My first time doing hot yoga with Ed twice was very intense and rewarding! You can tell that he is very passionate with his work and cares about his class performance with correcting forms, and assisting others to reach their full potential. I enjoyed your class and will return when I’m back in town. Thank you for your dedicated energy!!!

I wanted to wait till I had a few months under my belt to give an honest and accurate review. I started practicing at Bhakti Yoga in December and my experience has been excellent. The instructors are professional and encouraging and patient. They do a great job of connecting with the students, helping them improve. The facility is always clean and welcoming.

Tremendous hot yoga classes taught by teachers with direct lineage to the yoga masters. Truly unique, rigorous yoga experience as compared to all the hot yoga classes I have taken throughout all my travels across the world. In particular, Ed and Sandy regularly guide me through all 8 limbs of yoga in their classes. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate level, or advanced, I HIGHLY recommend Ed, Sandy, Julie, or Alex’s classes.

I had never done any yoga before and since starting I have seen a huge transformation in my strength and how my overall body feels. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable- all levels of practice are together and welcome. I’m so happy I found such a great place.

The owner was so rude to my sister who left mid class because she was feeling a panic attack come on (unrelated to the conditions of the class). She stepped out to get her breathing under control and he came into the hallway and yelled at her to come back into class, without checking on her or inquiring why she left class in the first place, assuming that it just got “too hard”. He said loudly in front of the whole class “you think you’re the only one that’s hot? We’re all hot that’s why we do it. Come back in here”. I totally appreciate instructors who push people and their limits, but when it’s done without understanding or compassion it ends up being more harmful than helpful. The instructor was incredibly good -and compassionate - so as long as you’re not in class with the owner you’ll most likely enjoy it there :)

My first time trying yoga of any kind and I absolutely enjoyed my time here! They are super welcoming, no judgement whatsoever and they help you overall not just physically. Talking with Natasha she helped my with my legs pains (my foot arches were dropping causing an imbalance). Just overall great environment and Ed and Sandy the owners get to know you and actually remember your name! Britt is always ready for a great session. I love them so much!!! 💜

I’ve been practicing yoga at Bhakti Yoga for maybe 5 years now.. attend Hot classes 1-2 times a week. In that time I’ve greatly improved my focus, flexibility, balance & mindfulness... on & off the mat..
Besides hot yoga they offer workshops:
Yoga Nidra, yoga therapy, Ayurveda...
Ed and Sandy provide a safe place to let go & learn... they also offer dedicated & consistent guidance. I find it to be a Great place to begin or continue anyone’s yoga practice or teacher training!

While I enjoyed the practice at this location, I found Ed to be condescending. I checked my Apple Watch during the practice because I had a sick child at home and received a message about him during the session. Ed announced to the class that I had checked my watch and said,

“For my regulars, tell her, there are no clocks in here for a reason. And if your checking your calorie count, oh don’t worry honey, you will drop pounds in here.”

I found his comments rude, condescending, and honestly, gauche. I didn’t pay to feel belittled and embarrassed in the class. I didn’t come there to feel like a child being scolded, for I glanced at a message on my wrist to make sure my asthmatic son was okay. And I most certainly did not need a grown man addressing me as honey over “my concern” of calories burned and pounds lost.

I think the establishment should worry about the conditions of their bathroom and all around aesthetics of their practicing room, as well as having a practical and uplifting instructor.

Bhakti Yoga South Jersey Hot Yoga Studio is the very best place to practice yoga! The studio offers hot yoga, warm yoga and Yoga Nidra classes. The studio is beautiful and clean. The yoga instructors are helpful, knowledgeable and professional. The yoga teacher training program is life changing! I completed the 200 hour Hot Yoga Teacher Training class last year and I loved it! I highly recommend Bhakti Yoga South Jersey Hot Yoga Studio as an excellent place to practice yoga and to further your practice by taking a teacher training course!

Update: I have been practicing here for more than three years now. It remains my favorite place to be. The teachers are amazing, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting, and the practice has improved my health. I highly recommend it!

I love Bhakti. The facility is beautiful and the teachers are great. I practice here four times per week; I always feel comfortable, and I always feel welcome. The classes are great for beginners, yet still challenging for those more seasoned. I highly recommend trying it! Ed and Sandy are great, as are the other instructors.

Great instructors, but the facility smells of mold. It wasn’t that bad during the week, but I brought someone with me for a Saturday class and it was really bad. We paid and then walked in set up, then left before the class started. We were not given a refund. Only posting this because I really hope they get the place cleaned up for air quality reasons.

I've had the pleasure of attending this studio since shortly after it first opened. Barkan Yoga South Jersey creates the ideal environment for students of all experience levels to push their limits and explore their fullest potential. Being a long time student, I've been blessed to watch others practice transform their lives. The supremely clean and comfortable vibe allows people of all ages/experience levels to dive right in and experience the mind-body connection. Truly a great place if you're interested in doing Hot Yoga but somewhat hesitant to get started.
