I joined CFTR Allendale roughly 2 years ago, wanting to introduce weight bearing exercises. CFTR has helped me increase my overall physical strength. I look forward to starting each day at CFTR . The workouts are challenging but fulfilling! The coaches are great and always ready to assist. They provide an awesome support system and we have a great community. We work hard, challenge ourselves with every workout and come back each day looking forward to the next workout! I’m approaching my third year as a member of CFTR- Allendale and I can honestly say that I have never been able to stick with a gym/ workout routine for this long.

CFTR has been a great experience and investment in my physical and mental well being. The coaches are great instructors who go above and beyond to teach the technical aspects of all movements. They scale the workouts properly for those who need to, so elite athletes and beginners both feel challenged during the WODs. The open gym on Sundays better known as the #sundayspecial is a time to fine tune your skills with the coaches available to answer your questions. The community welcomes all new members and is like a second family to me. If you are thinking about trying CrossFit, there is no better place than CFTR.

I started a little over a month ago and it’s been great. Where to begin. I joined a CrossFit gym to train for the newly minted Army Combat Fitness Test back in 2019. In addition to getting into the best shape of my life (could barely lift an empty barbell…now I can lift a lot more than that :D) but I also gained a family and community that has seen me and my family through more than just a fitness transformation.
The coaches are technicians and prioritize form and technique over numbers and load. As a clinician I value how well they are able to effectively and safely move an athlete from their on ramp to reaching their goals. The community is welcoming with people coming from all walks of life and levels of fitness. Also, facility is top notch. Cleanest CrossFit gym you’ll ever see.

I started at the Rack in August of 2016 at their old location in Paramus. I have tried other types of gyms and forms of fitness but come back to this one. CrossFit challenges me in so many ways to become a stronger individual physically and mentally. It never gets boring with all the different movements there are to learn, and all are scalable to my fitness level.
The main reason I love this gym so much, is that this community has become an extended family to me. They consist of a group of supportive, inspiring, and encouraging individuals. And I enjoy my time with each and every one of the members and coaches at CrossFit the Rack. They are the main reason I stay so consistent. I am so glad I took a chance on taking CrossFit classes and found them.

Mar 16, 2025 update:
A year later, I have been coming to the gym with much more consistency and have since reached new personal records and overall improvement to my technique. This is because of the excellent coaching and encouraging community. Both of these keep my motivated and encourage me to strive for improvement.
I started going with my dad on special occasions when anyone was welcome, for example Christmas or Memorial Day. I really enjoyed it so when the new year came I started coming once a week to lift weights with my dad. CrossFit the Rack is a welcoming place where you can focus on personal growth. I am lucky to be a member of such an encouraging gym.

As I approach my 2 Year Anniversary here at CrossFit The Rack and I think about the journey so far it has been absolutely incredible.
The Coaches, Dmitry, Yuri, Dan and Dino are top notch. They are knowledgeable and care about each member of the Gym.

March 10, 2025:
I have been a member of CFTR for 8 years now. It has been, and will continue to be, time well spent. Whether it be weightlifting, gymnastics, stamina, cardio or some other conditioning skill, the personal gains I have made are measurable.
All coaches are committed to your personal improvement. I am regularly impressed with our coaches knowledge of each member: that member’s strength, weakness, near and long term goals.
You come to CFTR with an appetite to learn and willingness to put in the level of work that suits your health and fitness targets; you wil immediate find that you just became a member of the best family that you wish you had found sooner.
Every day at CFTR is the best time of my day, both mind and body.
3/14/2024 UPDATE: March 17, 2024 marks my 7th anniversary as a member of CrossFit the Rack. More often than not, the 90 or so minutes spent at CFTR daily is the best part of my day. The coaches, the members, the community is second to none. I can’t imagine my fitness journey on any other route.
A great environment from every aspect.
I workout at The Rack 6 times a week. Most do not voluntarily go anywhere with that frequency without good reason.
The coaches truly care about my fitness goals; they know me well, both my limitations and my capabilities. Their knowledge is exceptional.

I can't say enough good things about CFTR. I joined about 2.5 years ago and it was one of my best decisions. The coaches go above and beyond what is expected of a trainer. I was a skeptic of CF before joining, but quickly learned it is the best way to build muscle and lose fat regardless of your capabilities. It is also a lot of fun and I can't imagine going back to a regular gym. CFTR is up to date with the best equipment and is always well maintained and clean. It is a great community and I can't recommend it enough.

March 17, 2024 👉I was a part of the CrossFit “Open” for the first time at CF The Rack and everyone made me feel so included. I was able to do the Workout at a Scaled Foundations Level. EVERYone does what they can and they are encouraged at whatever level they are at. I am so happy to have found this wonderful Community of people to workout with and to challenge myself with wonderful Coaches and Members. ALL ages and ALL capabilities are welcomed and safety and good form is a top priority.🌟👯♀️

-I told Dmitriy, one of the owners, how included, helped and supported, I felt, and he said to me, “Everyone is very helpful. We have a great community here. It’s my favorite part of our gym. We’re a family.”
-I agree with Dmitriy 100%!!
Since Day 1, I have been shown how all of the Workouts can be Scaled to my Level. Which is a very beginning level in comparison to others but nobody cares. Each person does what they can and they all support each other.

I joined CFTR in 2017. My reasons for joining were simple. I was bored and not seeing results nor was I happy with my current gym. CFTR motivated me, challenged me, and most importantly it was fun and I met some great people. I rejoined last year after trying to do things “myself” I had gained the Covid 40 and was at day 1. I couldn’t run I couldn’t do a burpee and lifting was exhausting There were no judgements. Just encouragement and the daily fist bump and kind hugs. I showed up and fast forward to today I’ve dropped my Covid 40, I am at the door to run and doing a burpee or 2 and made some great friends. The coaches are amazing and there is a modification for everything. If you’re looking for a new gym. Drop in. If you are concerned about not knowing anyone. I’ll be there and will be happy to help

I initially joined CrossFit The Rack to support my wife’s fitness journey – about a year and a half ago. She always returned from her classes beaming with pride, excited to tell me about all the fun she had and physical feats she conquered, and I wanted to share in that world with her. I was delighted to discover how much I enjoyed every class. To my surprise, this was especially true when she and I worked out together, but it was also the case in classes that I attended without her when our schedules demanded it. The coaching, the community, and the commitment of members continue to motivate and energize me. CrossFit The Rack is a supportive and uplifting environment full of wonderful coaches who care about your success. I was worried about it feeling too competitive or too intense and it's actually the opposite. You're always encouraged to "scale" or make the workout work best for you with modifications that the coaches are happy to suggest and demonstrate. I love the sense of community the gym offers. From the knowledgeable coaches to the sweetest community. From the programing to the results you can see. From the shared journeys to first bumps and personal records you hit along the way. ‘The Rack’ is the heart of what CrossFit is all about. They’re not pulling cars, there’s no ego lifting, there’s just love and support of your growth in fitness and life. My advice to beginners is if you’re feeling uneasy the first or second day in class give it time and be patient because the payoff is absolutely worth it. You don’t need to be super fit to start. Until starting at The Rack, the last time I consistently worked out was... high school? So I was more than a little nervous before showing up to the introductory session with Dmitriy and Kendra. The only thing I knew about "CrossFit" was that it got credit for making a few of my childhood friends into enormous men of muscles. Very few things could've been more intimidating. Still, I walked in because I trusted the friend who recommended that I give it a try.
That was 3 months ago. Since then, I've been shocked by how much I enjoy it, enough to regularly attend 4 classes per week. The truly outstanding, supportive, knowledgeable coaches and wonderful fellow members deserve most of the credit for my consistent streak. In fact, the sense of community at the Rack was the biggest and nicest surprise. The secondary, also excellent surprise has been the results! I'm in better shape now than I've been in years and continue to improve my strength and fitness... and looking better in my clothes (except for a fair few that are now too big!!!) is a pretty great perk, too.
I've recommended the Rack to everyone who will listen and am now putting it in writing. They are the best!

Beginning my day at CrossFit The Rack sets me up for the best day possible. CFTR personalizes their coaching and the workouts to each member’s level of fitness and goals. Each member gets individualized attention while still enjoying the community of a group setting. The variety of class times offered work with any schedule whether you are commuting into the city, raising a young family, working from home or like to burn off steam after a stressful day. As a ‘master’ athlete, my goal is to keep my mind and body strong to help me age gracefully. At CFTR, the coaches work with me on whole-body health such as agility, strength and overall fitness, as well as nutrition. To top it off, the facility is clean and well equipped. Just show up with a good attitude and they take care of the rest.

This is by far the best CrossFit gym in the Bergen County area for a number of reasons but primarily because the instructors actually care that you perform the olympic barbell lifts and all of the other exercises correctly. In addition I’ve made some friends in a short period of time. Everyone is welcoming and encouraging and all of the instructors top notch especially Kendra and Dmitry two of the main instructors. They both were able to help me increase my flexibility with my back and front squats. When I started a few months ago I could barely get to parallel. This is a family friendly environment where you can accomplish all of your fitness goals. I for one look forward to hitting PR’s in my back and front squats, deadlift and bench press at this amazing facility.

If you live near Paramus and are serious about lifting you should belong to this gym.
I was in town on business and stopped by for a workout. This gym has it all, deadlift bars, deadlift platforms including pegs for bands, spider bars, ssb, chalk, and a reverse hyper. They of course have all the usual CrossFit equipment, mostly rogue.

Terrible experience. Firstly, the coach for the time that I came in had no idea how to manage a newcomer/drop in. Ended up getting WAY overcharged for a drop in ($35) for literally zero coaching. Arrived early to fill out a waiver and warm up properly, when the coach came up and said I can just start whenever I wanted. Zero class structure/organization, no warmup from the coach, and no direction as to where a 400 m marker would be for the run. Just a super lackluster experience. I'll drive by this box to go to Guerrilla

CFTR is the best. The coaches are excellent and are very knowledgeable. They take the time to work with each individual at their own skill level. The personal coaching is second to none. If you’re trying to use the Groupon don’t bother, I got the straight run around. He wouldn’t even look at the schedule of availability for beginners until he got a deposit. Then the schedule for beginners I was told is in the AM when the website said it was at 6:30pm. Spend your money on a personal trainer for their prices anyways.

My husband and I walked into CrossFit the Rack just under 3 years ago. We started with the beginner class, every time we looked over at the “regular class” it seemed so intimidating, but when we were ready to graduate we were more than prepared. I worked out through all 9 months of my pregnancy and my recovery was speedy. All of the coaches love what they do and it’s evident in the programs they create and the individualized coaching whenever you need it. We are so happy we joined.

Today I celebrate my third year anniversary with CrossFit The Rack and I can't help but put a huge smile on my face as I look back at the amazing journey these coaches have come with me on as well as all the lifetime friends I have made. Each day is different and they offer something for everyone. As of this post I am even doing an individual design program that has helped me move on from a small lag and reaching more of my goals. For those that are nervous about taking that first step, just take a leap of faith, you wont regret it!

The community here at CFTR is amazing! Everyone is so supportive. For example, I needed to fund my trip to Michigan for USAW Youth Nationals. The whole gym helped contribute to a gofundme and other fundraisers for me to go, and everyone also watched and supported me while I competed. The fun really is in the community here at CFTR.
The coaches here are also extremely helpful. They are knowledgable and help in multiple ways. If it wasn’t for their amazing support and knowledge, I would not be able to call myself the 6th nationally ranked youth weightlifter in my division. CFTR coaches give you the blueprint to improve, it’s up to you to do it. The facility is also top notch as well.

The Rack saved my life. Nothing feels better than, or is more gratifying, than a CrossFit workout. It's not a gym, it's a second home. I've worked out all over Bergen County and even worked one on one with trainers...paying an arm and a leg more often than not. This is the first time I felt like I was getting MORE than I paid for. If you live in northern NJ, I'd recommend getting yourself over to Crossfit The Rack for 3 reasons: everyone is welcomed regardless of your age or fitness level; you will always get encouraged to keep at it by the community here; and you will usually leave a little sore, but often with a smile! The coaches have 50+ years of combined fitness experience to help you regardless of the shape you are in, your age, your injuries or your goals. Probably the worst thing you can do is to read this and then do nothing so ... meet with one of the great coaches at CFTR and get started.

I'm been a member of CFTR for several years (at least six!), and it has absolutely changed the way that I look at my workouts and level of fitness. I spent years, dating back to college, doing the regular gym routine and being frustrated with results - and frankly bored with the process. I had heard about Crossfit but there wasn't much out there about it save for a pretty basic website. Despite some serious reservations, I gave it a shot, and immediately realized how out of shape I was! But I have never looked back, and have learned to love the process of getting better. At the ripe old age of 38, I don't think I have been in better shape before, and it is in large part due to the excellent coaching and atmosphere fostered at CFTR.

UPDATE - May 2018:
I moved to San Diego, California roughly two years ago. I have yet to find a box with the same quality programming, personal care, and accessible staff as I have found at CFTR. I had expressed this to my now good friends at The Rack. Coach Dan offered to write tailored programs for me, based on my evolving fitness goals. At 39, I am stronger, faster, and more fit that I have ever been in my life. Dan has never missed a single day of programming in almost 2.5 years. To this point, my needs are always evolving and he takes all of this into consideration. I wish there was a CFTR West coast!
Previous Review: As a fitness enthusiast, I have always been interested in trying crossfit. Having heard a lot of negativity regarding the potential for injury, I have been reluctant to try it. Having prior back surgery and a history of lower back pain, I knew I needed to find a facility with knowlegable coaches and staff. This is exactly what I have found at CFTR. The attention to detail and years of combined experience have not only helped me resolve some of my issues with back pain, but have also made me an incredible athlete. I have been in shape for some time, but regular visits to my newly found friends and family at CFTR, have me in the best physical shape of my life. Watching others come into this facility, work hard, and ultimately achieve RESULTS is both enlightening and inspiring.

I came across CrossFit the Rack, while working out at Gold’s Gym. As an observer on the sidelines, I was a bit skeptical of CrossFit, and then I started training one-on-one and gradually joined the group WODs (Workout of the Day). I learned about the benefits of functional training (which is the heart of CrossFit), strengthened my core, and improved my flexibility. The group WODs are scalable and challenging, but the camaraderie amongst the CrossFit the Rack athletes makes the difference. The coaches are dedicated to supporting your fitness goals, and the equipment is clean, of good quality, and well maintained.

This is the type of coaching and work that I've been needing to find the next level of my fitness.
The WOD each day is surrounded by sufficient mobility, warmup and extras. The classes are great, as the presence of everyone pushes you to go. The coaching is spot on, don't expect to slip in form. You will be called out.

Getting into fitness later in life has had a very unique set of challenges not least of which has been fear of the unknown. Walking into a gym, let alone a CrossFit gym, is a very intimidating experience especially the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised to find CrossFit The Rack to be a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Upon my first visit I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable in my surroundings. The staff is amazing and goes to every length possible to make you feel right at home. The members are equally amazing and constantly offer support, camaraderie, empathy and sympathy. I am proud to consider the people I have met at The Rack as my extended family.
The staff here is the most knowledgeable I have ever encountered. They have a wide array of backgrounds, experience and education to complement their passion for health and wellness. Joining CrossFit The Rack is the best decision I could have made and I would strongly encourage anyone else to consider making the same choice.
Fitness, like life in general, is a journey. It is always more enjoyable to share that journey with friends in a fun and supportive environment. While my fitness journey has largely just begun I could not be more excited to see what else is in store and I would not want to experience any of it anywhere else.
