My mom and I had the pleasure of receiving a tour from Sean McKay. He was very knowledgeable about all Crunch has to offer. He is one of the reasons we are deciding to join the gym! Can't wait to get started!

Parking is an absolute joke. This place is packed all hours of the day every day. Why do I have to walk a football stadium before my lift? They should’ve never moved I hate their new gym it doesn’t even make any sense. When I’m doing legs on the lower flower I have to go up and down to use the leg machines since they’re on different floors, so stupid

THINK BEFORE JOINING THIS GYM!! Over 6,000 views and counting!! Be careful how you treat people

First let me start by saying, I have been working out for multiple years consistently now. Been to many gyms. I was a member of this gym for about 4 years. The gym is my peace and I like to come get a great workout after a hard day of work, like many of you reading this. I have met some cool people at this gym who I plan to be friends with for a while but I feel that may be the only positive takeaway unfortunately. Now, let me tell you that this is THE MOST toxic, unprofessional and hostile gym environment I have ever been apart of.

I have witnessed many issues with the front desk staff and members. Issues to the point where the front desk associates have almost gotten physical with members. MULTIPLE times. Complaints get swept under the rug and go unnoticed. Don’t even bother. The general manager just sits in his office and seems to have no idea what the gym needs or what goes on in the gym. The owners are non-existent and don’t do anything to properly manage the gym. I have also heard other staff talking about members’ information to other members. Don’t expect complete confidentiality when joining this gym. Your information may be exposed to random people. Clients are not respected by employees AT ALL. They have “no judgments” written on the front desk in big lettering but do nothing but the opposite. It’s a negative environment. Also, the turnover with managers and employees is astronomical and it’s not hard to understand why.

Also, just some things to note. They never have the air conditioner on because it seems they are too cheap to run it. When they have it on, it barely works and they compensate by having fans that blow around hot air. In the summer, it easily gets hot enough for folks to potentially have a heat stroke and that’s a health hazard if I have ever heard one. Corporate is made aware of issues and just doesn’t seem to care. They basically tell you what you want to hear. Also, just to note, don’t even bother coming to the gym in the afternoon or anytime before 7. You’ll see kids talking in groups in front of weights and they will not care if you are trying to workout. Their conversation is more important than your workout apparently. Not to mention, they all have their little cliques like it’s high school. Grown people come here to workout and do not want to be bothered by teenagers standing around flexing and talking. Let’s not forget about the classes on the turf either. They are scheduled at the busiest time of the gym and there is no separate room for the classes. They blast music throughout the gym. Good luck focusing on your workout with them screaming and blasting music you can easily hear through your headphones.

Just to add more notes; the equipment is subpar. It is the cheapest, bottom of the barrel stuff on the market. Don’t expect any updates or new equipment as I was a member for years and absolutely nothing was changed. The cleanliness is the same. Mildew on the walls under the blow dryers for example. Simple to clean yet it doesn’t get done. Not too mention they don’t even supply paper towels to wipe your face after a workout. They have gotten better at fixing equipment when it breaks but still could use some improvement.

I’ve been to many gyms in my days and this is easily the most toxic, unprofessional and hostile gym I’ve been apart of. Gym culture is just not what it used to be. All of these reviews speaking out against management and a hostile environment could not be more true. There are SO many better options in the area. Take a look at the other reviews, management and staff clearly have a problem treating people with decency and respect. If you are serious about lifting and don’t want to lift in a total negative environment, I HIGHLY advise considering other options than this gym.

This morning I walked into crunch at 4:15am with the sole purpose of cancelling my membership. I was not happy and unmotivated to continue working out and using the amenities. Little did I know a ray of sunshine also was working the front desk that morning and helped navigate me to finding out more wellness products they offer. Very awesome person, great experience and a sweet kind sold. I called the place to ask for his name because I forgot and asked if they could leave a note to thank him again. So I think if they told me correctly.... DEAN for CEO haha jk but he lowkey deserves a raise. Thats all folks, join crunch you wont be disappointed

This place is actually garbage, I'm honestly surprised a big corporate gym like this could be so bad. From the lackluster equipment to the genuinely despicable staff, I don't think there's enough time in the day to list just how bad this place is. I'd leave 0 stars if possible, you're better off going to Planet and they suck too

Don’t waste your time. Tried this gym because it was new and hyped up as the “place to be”. Multiple broken cable machines and felt like i was on top of everyone using the free weights section downstairs. No paper towels in the restroom/locker rooms is a joke. Sauna is tiny and does not even get hot. While their pricing may appear attractive, you’re better off spending the extra money at another gym for a better experience.

The Trianer for any of the hot yoga Pilates are amazing. That’s not the issue it’s the over crowded rooms. The room should’ve been bigger. I booked my class and soon as I walked in it’s ridiculously packed. Obviously you need space to stretch and move your arms and legs so there should be a few inches between you and the next person. But no when I walked in again to do my class it was full. Idk what needs to change because you have to wait for a set time to book and it’s extremely disappointing not getting what you booked. Especially paying monthly fees. I want to do a session without having to worry about if I’ll fit in my class or not. And tbh open the doors at exactly 10am that assures you that MAYBE just MAYBE you can get a spot.
Please fix this issue.

Unfortunately the gym got greedy, while the new gym is quite nice and some staff are great you have to pay $37 to use amenities that should be included in every other base membership and to top that your guest can't even play with you so you have to have them pay. Meanwhile the courts are empty a good portion of the time. What is crazy is they increased the price from the last location but still are asking you for more money to use stuff. Not worth the membership anymore

I just rejoined Crunch at the new facility, and I’m so glad I did. My experience at the old location was very negative — the manager, Mike, was arrogant and rude, and it made the environment really unpleasant. I sincerely hope he is not affiliated with this new location.

That being said, I’m really enjoying the hot early-morning weekend classes — please keep those on the schedule! I would also love to see 5 AM classes offered during the week, as well as more hot classes in general, especially hot Pilates.

Beautiful new gym, lots of new equipment, including a better climate, but not the hours…7 p.m. on weekends. What is it? A department store or a gym? So not everyone has a perfect work-life balance with weekends off;some have to work
weekends and then like to go for a workout,so now I guess us weekend workers have to find a gym with normal gym hours and not Macy’s? You have to do better than 7 p.m.

This afternoon I went to the new site that Crunch had to offer.I went in spoke to one the receptionist, he checked me in and I took a guest tour. The facility looked great, as I’m looking for a new gym and was a previous member at the old site on Fischer blvd, the new location looked like a great fit.
Until I went back to get more information. I was speaking to another receptionist about a guest pass and signing up. She was pretty short and seemed uninterested until her friend showed up. she obviously knew this young man because she said hello even before he checked in at the receptionist. I was then completely ignored, and I still had some more questions!!
She kept chatting away. eventually I walked away. As soon as I got home I called Crunch and addressed the situation with the desk, they said they would look into it without any indication acknowledging the bad service. If this is the way they treat potential clients./members then there are other gyms that show more respect.
I’m giving 2 stars as opposed to 1 since the first person I spoke to was actually attentive and showed interest in my being there.n Again it’s a nice facility but the level of customer service is not worth it, IMHO.

New location for this Crunch, and it is spacious with great equipment and friendly staff. However, it opened after a lengthy delay and is quite busy which created a learning curve for staff. One week in and things are already better!

There are two massage chairs and one Cryo bed. It seems like they should have more based on the volume of members.

Tanning and red light was activated but I have not yet used it.

There is one toilet upstairs in the recovery area, otherwise bathrooms are downstairs in the locker rooms. If it were my facility I would have added automatic toilet flushing — you know why!

Shout out to Teri and Harvey for being awesome team members!

While there are a few areas for improvement, I am sure I will update the review in the future with more stars. I am glad I joined.

EDIT **** someone contacted me offering me a free training session which was cool of them to do. From what I understand the new location is open, I got a text. Hopefully this is true, going to see now.

This was at one point my favorite gym. They were supposed to be moving locations, it’s been rescheduled a few times. I pull up to the original location today and it’s got a note on the door saying closed until further noticed. I can’t get ahold of any member of corporate I stopped by the enrollment center ten minutes away and was told it’s the city taking awhile with the inspection. Nobody knows what’s going on as far as being charged and that’s upsetting to me. I’m not paying for a place I can’t use and I don’t want to cancel because an employee told me my membership price will roll over to the new building and they will honor it until the next re-enrollment. I have emailed and called to no avail and now I’m extremely disappointed. The note should at least have some kind of re open date or they need to freeze the accounts. This is unacceptable to say the least, no matter the cause the company needs to fix this for the people that pay.

Cheap slippery barbells, LA fitness down the road has far better group classes, not even a top 5 gym in the area as far as bodybuilding/power-building equipment is concerned. (Toms river fitness is 5 minutes away and almost $20 less a month cheaper and far superior in every way) Front desk is snarky and have bad attitudes and can be seen sitting on top of the front desk more times than not.

New location is great! Love the lifting room and all the amenities that come with the gym. It’s a large gym with a good amount of space between equipment and has tons of options regarding machines. I’ve been waiting for a new gym to open up at this location for years ever since the old LA Fitness closed and this one tops it completely. Very impressed!
- My only complaint is that the HIIT classes are in the middle of the gym on the turf with music blaring to the point where I had to turn my headphones all the way up, but I could still hear the music in the back anyways. There was an empty room with a door that could’ve been used instead of blocking off the whole turf area with cones. It’s just not a good area to hold classes because of the traffic of people walking.

Relocation Nightmare!!! So after MULTIPLE “opening dates” ( that’s right…multiple deadlines missed!) they finally Close up the old gym! Social media blitz and formal signs all over the gym saying sadly Friday they will be closed but Saturday it’s brand new location time!!! How awkward that must have been to rent a separate space on opposite side of the Mall as the “Brand New Enrollment Center” to also be closed on Saturday….and Sunday; but it’s only the Summer; no biggie. Monday there’s a girl outside under a tent with a “sorry but the town didn’t give the CO” yet? Only personal trainings are allowed inside”. What a joke!!! So I asked Her if I could cancel, but Nope! So now I’m back at Planet Fitness; what a nightmare and waste of time! Take a bow Crunch; whoever was in charge of this move= FAIL. Even there Instagram turned the comments off! Would have loved a social media UPDATE saying “don’t drive here for 3 days thinking you can use a gym your paying for”!

As the training manager, Terry is expected to set a positive example at the gym, but my experience has been quite the opposite. For example, I was prevented from using a bench simply because her water bottle was on it, and she smirked while saying, “I am going to be using this next.” It's unacceptable for her to reserve equipment in that manner. Later, while I was returning free weights and reaching for another pair, she condescendingly told me to “say excuse me” as I passed in front of her. I was taken aback and clarified, “I’m sorry, this is my first time in this gym.” Her response, “I am the training manager,” felt completely out of place in a facility that promotes a no-judgment environment. Terry's condescending demeanor does not reflect the supportive atmosphere that members should expect from training staff. As a member, I deserve to feel confident and supported in the gym, and it’s essential for the staff to embody that standard.

Gym does not compare to NYC sister gyms. Seems to be poorly managed. There was no air conditioning for the past two weeks during a very busy period, prior to and past Memorial Day weekend. The upright bikes are not properly calibrated. The same settings on different bikes yield very different results. Their desk staff is less than responsive. Often they don’t have towels and when they do, they will only provide one. Even when asked several times, very nicely, to use two towels to protect my arms from the elements on the upright bar handles, they outright refused. The mats for stretching are worn and need replacing.

On a positive note they have space and equipment.

PLEASE FIX YOUR AIR CONDITIONING. This gym has not had proper air conditioning in YEARS. People are drenched in sweat at all times and machines/equipment are always covered in sweat. It’s absolutely disgusting and (to be quite honest) seems like a health hazard. DOH????

How this gym expects people to enjoy their workout in the spring/ summer months is beyond me. In the summer the gym is easily 100 degrees. The air is stagnant and HOT. Putting 2 cheap little vortex fans in the corner is not enough.

I have asthma and I constantly leave your gym red faced and can hardly breathe because of the heat. Stop being cheap and put the AC on bc i guarantee it will be cheaper than the insurance bill will be when someone gets seriously injured.

Every time inquire about the cleaning schedule so I can try to plan my exercise around it, the staff at the front desk is never able to give me a straight answer. It’s very frustrating as I’ve been going to this gym on my lunch break between 11 and 1 for almost a year and only recently has the facility implemented this new and disruptive cleaning schedule. When the rec room isn’t being cleaned, there are fitness classes going on. Very disappointed in the customer service here.

I went in yesterday with 2 friends and was denied access with my "free" guest pass after the man at the front claimed I had already been there in October 2022 even though I told him I've never even heard of the place before last week. He did absolutely nothing to help me, didn't offer to show me the picture or anything. Just made me pay the 15$ day pass and was honestly pretty rude. I went in to see if it would be worth switching gym memberships and if the guy had just let me workout without milking me for 15$ I probably would've done it, but I felt unwelcome and made out to be some kind of scammer by the people running the place, he really was talking as if he thought I was lying to his face. Absolutely unsatisfied with my experience, and after reading other reviews here it seems this place has a problem with treating people with respect and decency.

Edit- Increasing the 1 star to 3, because after posting this review a man named Michael reached out and called to make things right, refunded me for the day pass and offered me and my 2 friends a 7 day pass to continue to try it out and see if it's worth switching over. This is definitely something that I can overlook if it was just a hiccup, the facility does look pretty nice and I appreciate the effort to make things right on their end.

Been taking my son and his friends who are 17 and stay with me during the summer to train at this gym and today ran into a rep who questioned whether I was my sons friends legal guardian and wouldn’t let him in cause I could not properly represent him even though every other rep there all summer has never said a thing about it…..and when I asked for a refund for the day pass that had already been paid for my son he said they were not capable……way to take care of repeat returning customers!!! Well there’s plenty of gyms in the area thanks for making the decision making process much easier :)

While looking for a place to train while on vacation, I noticed that this particular Crunch was a very close distance from where I was staying. I had shown up at a very busy time but had noticed that there were more than enough pieces of equipment to accommodate a large capacity of individuals. The gym itself was pretty clean including most of the equipment as well as the men's locker room. Although I had only gone twice to this particular Crunch location, I was genuinely satisfied with my experience. As a Crunch Select member, I find the membership cost to be a pretty horrible return on investment when visiting non-Select clubs such as this one in Toms River. Looking for a workout.
Try this.

Don't like circuits.
That's ok. Plenty of equipment at this gym to provide you with the results hour looking for.

But I will say this. It's not often you find a gym that has the a manager that truly care for it's members and listens. If you haven't met Michael yet. Then you need to.
He will greet you with a smile and handshake and respect. He doesn't ignore any concerns or questions and always puts his members needs first. Theres a sports drink that I love and is great for hydration and recovery after a tough workout an I mentioned it to Michael and the next day the fridge had it in stock.
If something seems off he mentions it.
I needed help with training for an event he introduced me to the right trainer. (Lous great)

It's been a very long time since this place actually had management that is reliable responsible, efficient and all around a great asset to this gym. He's not allowed to ever leave his position or I'm sure myself and many others would be sad. But I will say. The staff he has hired is wonderful and he himself is probably the reason why.
This post has been a long time coming and I have meant to post it a while ago. But I will say hi. Being here for the time he has, you can truly notice a positive difference in this gym

I came to Crunch today at 930am. I use to be a member 4 yrs ago in Massachusetts. I came out to NJ to visit family and used the Crunch in Toms River once. I am currently a member at planet fitness. I figured I would fill out paperwork online for a free pass to check it out again. The lady told me I could not use the free pass. She didn't seem to care.

I absolutely love this gym! I picked it up as a supplemental to my existing fitness center but it quickly emerged to the top and I look forward to making it my primary. The staff, the people, and the environment, all contribute to a great experience.

Love the gym but the noise from the hiit class is super loud and breaks my focus when trying to workout. I’ve tried to plan my workout around the class so I can use the turf and every time I go in it seems like the class is running over time or later and later. The rest of the gym is great, front desk is fantastic, and the gym is super clean, but it is frustrated that the class times aren’t managed better.

Staff are nice people who treat you with respect, but the gym equipment is not maintained with any consistency or in a timely manor. One piece of equipment that I depend on for rehab has been broken for months. Also, no matter who’s fault it is, the AC unit being down for months is inexcusable from a business perspective. I’ve met some really good folks there, but for the most part the afternoon vibe is more like a High School hangout, making it oftentimes difficult to get on the equipment. All and all I can definitely say that I’ve trained in far worse gyms, but for someone looking to train hardcore as a bodybuilder ,power lifter, or just a gym rat, it’s probably not the place for you.

I just want to say starting the fitness journey wasn’t easy at all. You know I started off being a cardio freak because I was to intimidated to go in the weight section, so I decided to get a trainor which that was even out my comfort zone! Andrew was an amazing trainor and I’d tell anyone to train with him. Andrew made me feel so comfortable and accepted. Now because of him I outgrew that fear and I walk in that weight section confident as hell. I would never be where I am today if it wasn’t for him! Even though I do it on my own now his tips and advice always sticks with me, I mean he made me who I am today. If I never took that shot and got him as my trainor id still be that intimidated girl doing cardio 7 times a week when I wanted to gain muscle and thank god he saved me from that lol. It’s honestly amazing that 1 person can change someones life and not even know it(:

There’s no place to workout on your own. Class rooms are used. Classes are held outside for the most part. But 8:00am in the morning the only place to do floor exercises is in use. Why can’t they keep this spot free to use on a Saturday morning? Otherwise, the staff are friendly and equipment is easily accessible.

Benches are designed for midgets, and every piece of equipment seems designed to get you injured. Never seen so much low quality pieces of equipment in one place. If the equipment was old and bad, I would be more understanding, but everything looks relatively new and it's all still awful because they bought the worst quality things possible. The 2 lifting platforms are the best part of the gym, however they are often populated by 12 year olds lifting 40 lbs and flexing for 2 hours in the mirror. Anyone with a serious workout plan should stay away unless everything can be done on a lifting platform during school hours.
MOST desk clerks seem nice though.

POOR COMMUNICATION- actually no communication with the manager as they refuse to freeze accounts when you have major abdominal surgery and do not respond when you request to cancel. Just got off the phone with the manager at this place to dispute a charge for a membership fee charged to my Credit Card. I explained to him that I moved out of state during the Co -Vid pandemic and that I was not interested renewing my membership. He said I received an email from Crunch when they reopened and I had 10 days to cancel or renew at that time. I never received the email but he insisted that wasn't his problem he was charging my card for a membership that I can't use. I will dispute this with my CC company but I feel like this could have been handled easily by him. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CC INFORMATION They will charge you for things without your consent!

Would love to join Crunch since I just moved to TR but...
$75 dollar start up fee is ridiculous lol......
Enrollment. $75
1st month. $9.95
Tax. $5.63
Total to join. $90.58

This is why I chose Planet fitness, they have no contracts, hidden fees, $10/month, you can cancel anytime, only pay $40 fee once a year, very clean and overall nice gym.

I recently moved to Toms River and joined Crunch Fitness. I have been a member of other gyms in the past and was unhappy. Crunch Fitness is by far my favorite. The customer service is exceptional, and it feels like a family the staff is very motivational and supportive.

I signed up for the 1 on 1 personal training with Kyle 2x's a week and cannot begin to express how happy I am with him as a trainer. Kyle is always switching it up and making it fun. I look forward to our sessions and never feel intimidated as he is right there cheering you on and making sure you are in proper form. I have back issues and anytime something does not feel right he always finds an alternative so that I get the most out of my workouts without any pain.
Best part is that I started seeing results shortly after I started this journey of getting back into shape and trying to put myself as a priority!!

I also started working with Tim in order to get my diet inline with my work out. He is so knowledgeable and makes it so easy as he created a daily menu for me to follow which takes the stress off of me trying to create my own and not knowing if portions are correct. He listed out everything. Tim also is more than happy to answer any of my questions and because I have food allergies he took the time and created the diet that will work best for me. The results are amazing especially in combination with working out.

Like I mentioned before Crunch Fitness in Toms River is like family and I would recommend this facility to anyone. I look forward to going every week.

Tim and Kyle thank you both for being part of my journey you have provided me with the tools and confidence to keep pushing forward.

My wife and I, both of us closer to 50 than 40 years old, recently joined Crunch. We wanted personal trainers so that we could learn how to achieve our desired results efficiently and without hurting ourselves. We were evaluated by Tim and he was able to spot weak areas in both of us that needed to be worked on. The guy knows his stuff and we were both confident that we were in good hands.

I have worked with trainers Tim and Steve M. and I can highly recommend both of them. My wife also takes private yoga lessons with Ryan and she loves training with him. We are both currently training with Kelly K. and she is extremely knowledgeable with the added benefit of a good sense of humor. She makes our workouts fun and something to look forward to.

The gym itself is always clean and we have liked every staff member that we have met. They're a nice bunch of people. We have had nothing but good experiences with other members. It's a nice mix of people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. I have been able to workout every time I have gone which is usually five days a week. Sometimes the gym is more crowded than others but I have always found free equipment to use.

I’ve wanted to join Crunch fitness for a while. They offer group classes that I think I might be interested in. I used to be a member of anytime fitness but there don’t seem to be many of those in north jersey. Anyway, the Toms River Crunch location is really nice, clean, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The front desk person took his time to show me around and answer my questions about pricing and what’s included in what I purchase. You would think that those are all things standard with his job but you’d be surprised of how many other gyms I’ve been to that wouldn’t give me the time of day when I walk in. Usually I get the hi can I help you and they show me a list of prices. After they would tell me to feel free and have a look around. Not Crunch I’m Toms River! He actually took his time with me! I was so impressed by that!

The atmosphere was clean and pleasant! I’m so pumped to start going in and putting some effort toward my health.

If you think it's too late to get that bikini body, think again. I decided to take the next level and sign myself up for Personal Training with Tim and in just 2-3 weeks, I feel different and I can actually see a difference. And I thought I knew what it meant to be sore after a work out. Boy I was dead wrong. I signed up for 5 sessions a week and it is insane how great i feel and look. I even have better posture! Tim pushed me more than I would usually push myself and that makes all the difference.
