Be aware that they make it virtually impossible to cancel your membership (unless you are willing to take a day off work and drive to the corporate office). And they will charge an annual fee shortly after joining even though they promise no annual fees when you join. I have to assume there are better options out there.

Moved to New Jersey with the hopes of finding a new gym.. and one that wasn’t as awful as the LA Fitness in Port Chester, New York. Well… this ain’t it. Most machines are faulty/out of order, every pad on every single machine looks like it was attacked savagely by a pit bull, and the bathrooms are some of the grossest I’ve see outside of the porta potties at MetLife Stadium. Unfortunately I will continue to go to this gym as it’s the closest one around and all the others are equally as bad. To whom ever reads this… I’d really figure all this out.

!!Be aware of the scam!! When I joined the gym last year they called me and said i could have a complementary personal coaching session and scheduled me for 30 mins. I attended the session (it was more a advertisement of the service rather anything else) and towards the end i was given offer that for a month i could have the service for half the price($99), i was hesitant but the trainer/sales man convinced me in to it saying that i could cancel it in week if dont like it. I signed the document and left. I was on a and off in the gym and due to some health concern i could not even able to attend any personal training session and i tough its fine as its for a month only bu to my surprise my card was charged the full price next month. I went to the gym to inquire about this, the lady at the front desk told me that i have a signed the contract for a year and then i explained her everything, she called the trainer and the trained acted like he does not know anything about it and he said I am telling lie. The tone of the trainer was different this time, he was not a sales man anymore!! He said you have signed the document and now its your headache. We WONT do anything. The only option you have it to buy out.
After a 5-10 mins arguments I left the gym. I asked few of my friends/co-worker about this and it seems like its a pretty common practice in the gym. They wont tell you everything and just get you signed the contact and by the time you know about it, its too late for you to cancel it. So be very careful and save yourself from these scammer.

One of the worst gym I have ever been to. The attitude of the staffs are so bad. They are rude and have zero knowledge on customer interaction. I have seen the same gym manager talking sweetly whoever comes in to join the gym. If not for this location, this gym will be empty mainly due to the manager’s rude attitude.

I have enrolled membership with one guest. That name photo identify everything shared when enrolled. Membership fee is included for guest as well. When i enroll and part of agreement guest can enter the gym with or without member first 7 days as guest. But today they are not allowing when guest entering to gym even after showing membership and identify. Its very poor response and disconnecting the call when talking to gym manager. Everyday simply changing policy.

They have fraudulent practices. Extremely poor customer service. One of the worst that I have seen in the entire industry. Please beware before signing up as members of this club!! I am a member and moved my residence to a different state where the nearest club was far from my home. I called the club to cancel and they told me that they cannot cancel the membership unless I drive and go to an actual club. That is just ridiculous in todays digital world. I am unnecessarily being charged on my credit card account because I am not physically able to go into a club location!!!!!

Be careful about signing up for a membership with this establishment. Once you do, it may be very difficult to cancel. I have been a member since 2012 but have not used my membership for over 2 years, so need to cancel it. In my case, in order to cancel, I was told I would either need to come in personally and speak to the manager, or print a form online and mail it to an address in California. I printed the form and mailed it on October 4, 2022. My credit card account was still billed for a monthly charge on November 3, and then again on December 3. When I called today to speak to the manager about it, she told me that I should have sent the form by certified mail and that without a certified mail confirmation, her hands are tied; she can't cancel my membership. Nowhere on the website or the from does it mention that the form should be sent by certified mail.

Like this facility in Parsippany,NJ the machines are a little bit older than the Clifton facility but the atmosphere great. Machines are always clean good people and the sauna was great, I'll probably try the pool next time, but i have been to the pool in Clifton and i hope its the same here and from what I can see the classes are always jam packed and the instructor keeps you motivated from what I saw

The place itself could be better for the price. There’s limited weights, and the machines and locker rooms can be filthy at times. However, I didn’t write this review to (rightfully so) bash the interior of the gym. I’m writing to complain about the GM Chris. He’s obnoxious and rude. Just because he is miserable in his own life, does not give him the right to make everyone else miserable too. Last week, my guest was attacked by Chris’s aggressive behavior to buy a membership. He was extremely unprofessional as he refused to let my guest in (her first time coming) and YELLED at her to buy her own membership. I pay extra money to bring one guest so what’s the deal? It’s unbelievable he still has a job. I called to complain about him and even the employee on the phone said that I wasn’t the first to report him. The fact that I and many others have written and physically called the gym about him, speaks volume. He gives the gym a terrible reputation. I find it amusing that a majority of the bad reviews are about Chris. He’s the reason the gym doesn’t even have four stars. Open your eyes.

I’ll preface this review by stating that I’m not a member… I was interested in joining so I went on their website, downloaded a 3 day guest pass and drove there to try it out. When I arrived, the staff was baffled and asked if I had an appointment. Keep in mind that nowhere on their website or in the follow-up email they sent did they say that I needed an appointment. They said we can’t use the guest pass without an appointment. Which would be fine but this is information you need to tell people so they don’t waste a trip. Another instance of scammy gym sales tactics.

probably the worst gym in new jersey, the staff is extremely incompetent (except for the one girl) rude, and the place is filthy. highly recommend staying away from this dump. my final reason for canceling my membership was because of the hero manager. guy would have a constant attitude about just about everything , mean while we would go there every day. if you hate your job so much little buddy you should probably quit, customer service and people skills is not it for you

This gym is dirty, musty, dimly lit and has an overall untreated pool(it’s green!!). Once you walk in the gym the floor from the entrance to the back room that holds the basketball area is sticky. The gym’s free weights are very limited, and are overall chaffed from a decade of use(Old equipment). The bars and machines reek of silver based on how this gym doesn't clean anything. Amongst the smelly things within this gym, that one that reeks is unanimously the GM Chris (the man with the pulsating tumor on the left side of his head). He has a unregulated oppression on guests, as he always looks for problems to express his discontent in life. Personally I do not care for a random’s mid life crisis but Chris openly expresses it. In any instance you bring a guest to the gym, he ASSAULTS them with unreasonable gym membership deals and even slanders your guest’s weight. At one point the GM Chris escorted my guest out of the basketball arena because he had sandals on and threatened to ban him from the gym and even forfeit my membership. In a business standpoint gym employees shouldn’t express emotional discharge to well paying subscribers. Also the hygiene in this gym is emulated by the sourness in Chris’s armpits. This gym needs to fire Chris as hygiene isn’t a priority to himself or the equipment used. STAY AWAY.

Here’s what just cancelled my 3rd tier membership after 1 1/2 years. Very unhappy with how rude GM Chris is. Super confrontational and looking for a problem, especially during guest sign-ins. Gave my gym guest, who’s gone as consistently as I have, a problem during sign in on 3 occasions. To put this into perspective, I had never seen this guy until about three months ago, only interacted with him 3 times in that period, and those times escalated from comments by him, to nearly refusing to sign in my guest, to him refusing entry to us both, simply because my gym partner left his ID in the car. Because my gym partner and I go to the gym nearly every single day together and have so for the duration of my membership, we’re very recognizable faces in the gym and we’re on a first name basis with countless members and all staff except for one or two people. Any other person at the front desk would’ve let this slide, but Chris woke up and chose uncivil discourse. I’m able to forgive the faults of the gym, but I prioritize loyalty in an establishment I’ve been a member to for this long. Also, judging by the rest of these reviews, I can’t help but notice a trend of Chris driving away members. One can only ask, how is this dude still employed at Esporta?

It used to be good when it was LA fitness, but under the new management, no one cares to keep the place upgraded or even clean. They are milking this old cash cow until it die.

On the plus side if you want to use the Sauna, you don't even have to go to the sauna room. There are certain portions of this gym where the air-conditioning does not work. lol.

The sales manager Chris is extremely unprofessional and condescending with his sales pitches. He has been rude to me and others that I know as well, he will say anything to get you to join without allowing the opportunity to tour the facility prior to agreeing. I came in with my three day pass to check out the gym, but Chris did not allow me to use the pass and instead tried many poorly executed tactics that are reminiscent of a car’s salesman. After being told i couldn’t use my pass, i went over to the other location and was able to use this pass without a problem.

I signed up to try and get into a healthier lifestyle. Never having really worked out I decided that this gym had a variety of things I could try. I went in, and the front desk was really nice. Then I was taken to a sales rep I believe his name was Corey. He is an absolute arrogant nightmare. I was brought over to this sales rep to get my numbers, which is basically the breakdown of fat in your body. I explained that although I appreciated that he took the time to explain the extras that the gym had that I didn't want any of it. Reason being that I just really started in this environment. Corey persisted and pushed and quickly became very nasty. He ridiculed me on my weight and my goals and and crossed over into harassment very quickly. I don't think this person should represent the establishment but I don't think he is the right fit for the gym. As I stated to the front desk I think he's better suited for equipment maintenance, a job where he doesn't have to interact with people. Corey is definitely not a people person, and honestly its sort of frightening to be confronted with some one like that when you're already going in with insecurities. I do hope that management took my experience seriously because it's only a matter of time until this individual crosses the line and does more, as he is really aggressive and tried to intimidate me by standing up and speaking at me in a harsh and loud tone. If Corey is still at this place I don't recommend going, from my experience he's not pleasant.

Moved to the area, tried one gym but didn’t like it much (Starts with a C). But great customer service there - smiles and well wishes, no issues at all. Here, went to use free trial pass but can’t try out, either sign up or get out.

They want you to sign a contract without trying? Crazy, would have regretted instantly especially if the machines are so old as people say here.

I quit this gym last year because Tyebb B place was filthy, and the basketball courts had no air conditioning. Everyone I know quit this gym and went to the east Hanover location.
Management kept promising that they would fix the AC but never did.
I quit my membership and everyone in my family as a result even though the location is very convenient for us.
I called two months ago and they said they fixed the AC. I signed up again, and take a wild f**king guess! They lied! It’s hotter in here than ever. They think a fan will
Help keep the courts cool.
Go somewhere else if you’re interested in Playing basketball, volleyball etc.
I’m quitting again and sticking to East Hanover, even though it’s a hike.

I had the worst experience in this gym today. I been working out here for about 6 months. Place was great so I decided to bring some friends as guess to check it out while getting some training done. We was interrupted by a personal trainer saying that they kicked someone out 2 days ago because he was personal training people and I was accused of it. We spoke about it and I explained the situation and we was fine. This is by far the worst experience at a gym I’ve ever had in my life. The staff was not helpful and the place was extremely dirty. Bathroom was absolutely filthy- paper towels and garbage all over and the locker room reeked of weed. Even the Treadmills were dirty with wet wipes in cups holders and left over with empty drink cans in them. They were not calibrated correctly the treadmill that was set to 6.0 had me walking at a slow speed less than 3.0 which makes no sense. All of the free weights were unorganized and there equipment was scattered all over the place. You could not pay me to come back. If I didn’t have such a fire playlist I would have left but I took a scoop of pre and pushed through. Still wish I had the hour of my time back.

Me and my friend went today. I went as an guest and a salesman approach me midway through my workout. He kept harassing me to get a membership and even told me I should go to the car to get my parents credit card. My friend came over and he told her that she can have some fitness test to she where she is at. They showed us ridiculous diagrams that a 5 year old could have made and the guy was completely clueless when I asked questions. He wasted an hour with us set unrealistic exceptions for a teenager. Despite all negative reviews including reported theft in this gym, I have never encountered these issues myself although I heard about it from other attendants and I understand that some people had extremely negative experiences. Strictly In my perspective this was the best gym I went to because of the huge size of it and lesser population of this district. Always was getting to needed equipment with out wait. When I needed to cancel the membership due to relocation all I had to to is go to the gym when operation manager was on the spot and it took less then a minute to cancel. That is all.

Been a member of LA Fitness for 8 years and always felt this large club was a good value. Recently renamed eSporta (LA Fitness subsidiary) it has improved. Now there is more/upgraded equipment and a large training area for cross-fit. The basketball & racquetball courts & exercise rooms... are still available. The staff (managers, receptionists, salespeople, trainers...) are a revolving door and usually clueless, but who cares they are irrelevant.

Of course there is room for improvement but the nitpicking criticisms I've read here are ridiculous. The equipment is not rusted (rarely broken), the gym floor, lockers & bathroom can always be cleaner but they are not terrible. The basketballs are pitiful, so bring your own ball. I only use the sauna which is adequate and I don't use any public pool/Jacuzzi (all are heavy in chlorine which is absorbed thru your skin.)

I can't believe I'm defending this place but I've worked out in many gyms (including other LA Fitness gyms which are cleaner) and this gym is above average considering all it offers. People have unrealistic expectations for $30/month. If you are high-maintenance, need everything clean & shiny, face diapered, and require personal attention, this is not the gym for you. There are plenty of high-end gyms that will cater to you for $100+ per month.

Be aware of the thieves in the gym. We just lost an iPhone, a wallet with all the credit cards, driver’s license, and all the needed personal items in the wallet. They immediately go to the stores to make purchases with your credit cards. The employees lied by saying it had never happened before, but the police said there had been numerous incidents like this in this gym. The thieves would even take your keys and rummage through your cars. The gym says they have cameras but the police couldn’t find any footages. Be aware!

We toured the place as a family (2 adults and 3 kids under 14). They showed us everything including the locker rooms. We explained we were looking for something active to do as a family. The salesman said that was great and we signed up. My son and I went back last week to play racquetball and he loved it. Just went in tonight to play again and was told my son couldn’t enter the club past the front desk because he wasn't old enough. That wasn’t said to us at the tour or when we came last to play. Now it was an issue and he left upset, almost crying. I went back and canceled our membership because of it and they charged me another $25. Scam artists and liars. That’s all these gyms are. Cash grabs that will say anything to get a sale and then screw you with fine print they conveniently forget to mention.

Additional Note: I also remembered that during our tour I was asked about lifting weights. I've never lifted with a structured program before but the salesperson said that lifting should be 75% of my work out and that cardio isn't as important as people make it out to be. I should have seen the red flag right there and walked away, but my wife really wanted sometime for the kids. I recently had heart surgery and cardio is the most important thing I need to be doing to strengthen my heart muscle. They really don't know what they are talking about and I think they must pay for positive reviews because I don't know anyone in person that thinks this place is great.

It has potential, but currently a dump. NO ONE CLEANS ANYTHING. I looked at the same spill in the men’s locker room for 3 days. Locker room is a MRSA infection waiting to happen. I’ll attach pictures of the hot tub, the water was dark and literally smelled. Heating element in the sauna does not work properly. Exterior knobs are also broken. All shower curtains are torn, they just tie them together. No one re-racks weights at all. The rule is not enforced. I would love to see this place turn around but they need more then just that young girl doing all the work. If she’s not lifting she’s running all over the place trying.

Good price for a monthly membership but you get what you pay for. They don't have enough equipment (only 4 barbells in the whole gym). Writing this as we speak as all 4 barbells are used for squats and none are available to do chest. Also lack a pad to do hip thrusts so you'll have to buy one if you do it. You get what you pay for

New manager Vouentina is the Best

My have been fitness member for almost four years . Today I have to say thanks to Prisippany Esporte Manager Vouentina.
I am go to swim almost 4-5 time weekly , The bag is too heavy such as Body wash and Condition, hair shampoo and condition, Skin clean and cream etc. In addition, my arm is pain for long time.
I want to keep one box and lock room, so that I don’t have to bring a biggest bag every day . I asked ex-manager Rochel two times explained my situation. I was very surprised that she was very tough without kindly and friendly. She said “it is impossible, there are not enough boxes, If you locked box we will open it and throw away your staffs”. I was very surprised she was saying. As a manager she doesn’t know how many boxes in the woman lock room, In fact , there are 4 rooms with almost 130 boxes or she was lie. She was just very tough with customer.
When I saw new manager Vouentina, She is nice and beautifull,
I went ask her , She said “ you can keep a box why not” I am so happy met her,
Since New manager Vouentina coming , every where being more clean and neatly. Spy in the swimming pool start opening ,
As a customer we are lucky we have an nice, friendly, kindly manager Vouentina .

I just have something to say: the worst gym in the world. I was involved in a one year contract that was never explained to me. I moved out of state, submitted proof of residency and they still wouldn't let me cancel my membership or personal training. I sprained my ankle and missed the gym for over two months and submitted evidence signed by the attending physician and they still wouldn't let me cancel my membership or training. Bad costumer service. Please don't make the same mistake as me. don't go to that gym. there are many other gyms that are really good.

Unbelievable how poorly managed this gym is. It’s 95° and you walk into the gym and it feels like the exact same temperature. Looks like they bought 2 fans one in the basketball court and one by the cardio equipment, unbelievable that they would think that’s enough. The air condition is pretty much never on or blowing the least amount of air possible. No one wants to workout in a gym that is 80°+!!!!!! After going to other gyms I notice that right when you walk in there is refreshing cold air blowing throughout the gym to cool you down while working out. Not this gym! You walk in and probably won’t even notice a difference in the temperature from outside and inside. It’s time they realize it’s summer and start using the A/C. Unbelievable how poorly managed this gym is. Absolutely pathetic

Used to go to an LA Fitnsss in Clark up until the pandemic began. Had to start going to this place when I moved nearby last September. This is by far the worst gym I have been to. The Sauna has been open since beginning of June, doesn't even work properly. The controls are completely broken and therefore barely creates heat. Pool and showers are still not opened. I agree with others when they say that the equipment is either run down or doesn't work. Half the TV's in the place don't work or are screwed up. The minute the mask mandate was lifted all the disinfectant they used to provide for people to clean the machines was removed and now only a couple bottles are around to use. Since I have been coming to this place, I have not seen a single person clean the facility. Really sad what I am seeing considering I came from an LA Fitness that was totally the opposite of this place. I hope the health department shuts this place down.

Emphasis on poor communication. If I had the energy I’d here and write the paragraphs on what happened and why it was a huge headache.
Instead to save us both time, I’ll cut to the chase. Terrible management here. I don’t think anyone understands what they’re supposed to be doing or what customer service is. It’s clear that no one cares to be there, which is fine (like, it’s a part time job in the middle of a pandemic, you know?) but this is different.
From unprofessional no shows and miscommunications to outright passive aggressive behavior and sales people that actually have no basic arithmetic skills. The amenities themselves are good to be fair but the people and management make it a headache. 100% make sure you talk to someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.
seriously, our first experience here we booked a tour with Nick S (still dunno who that is). We get there, a high school girl is there alone and tells us he left for the day and no ones there to give us a tour. Mind you we booked through the website and everything was confirmed.
The person who signed us up wasn’t even supposed to / wasn’t trained to, we found out later!!! We were told EVERYTHING wrong or opposite (policy price and rule wise pre-sign up) and as the week went by we learned the actual truths from random people in such an annoying way — which no one cared about either.
Headache. It still is.

The gym itself is full of equipment that tends to be out of service. One of the machines has been out of service since before COVID-19. Many of the machines are dirty or need oil to work properly. Many of the staff members are very nice and friendly, except for a few. The manager, Rachel, lacks personality and communication skills that are essential to managing a gym. They have been very rude throughout my experience with this gym for over the past couple years. Not to mention, they charge the new members half of what the LA fitness members are paying. This gym must be stayed away from! The equipment is usually being taken up, especially considering social distancing regulations. Half of the TVs in there don’t even function properly and many of the machines are on top of each other. Even with vaccines, don’t even think about taking your mask down to breathe for a minute, they will be on you in seconds. I was targeted my entire time with this gym, and being young I was singled out and treated unfairly. Stay away from this gym if you have common sense!

Be careful you don't get tricked into a contract, for both membership and personal training. My wife and I found out we were locked into a a 12month contract when we tried to cancel our personal training. They were happy to add more sessions, but refused to reduce. I spoke to Area Manager Eric who was unwilling to do anything to help, but was "happy to help" getting documents to prove that my attempt to cancel was hopeless. I will never give this place, Esporta or LA Fitness, another dollar.

I just had absolutely worst customer service experience in my life with LA Fitness in Parsippany. I came to sign up with a club since I relocated and my current gym is over 25 min driving. I applied for the guest pass and came to the club with the intention to get basic information and sign up. On the reception, I was forwarded to the Salesperson who was absolutely unknowledgeable and couldn't answer simple questions. She said that in order to receive the information about the cost of small groups training I have to be a member. Seriously? Does it make any sense? Then she said that she doesn't have this inf anyway. I asked if there is anyone who could answer How Much the training cost? She invited General manager who couldn't give me the answer either and for my The Only question about the cost he started to asking me questions about my wellness goals. I felt like it is unreal. I spent already 40 min talking to 2 people who couldn't say how Much the training cost. The manager said there is someone who's in charge of that section "He is behind you". I am turning around and see the guy seating behind legs spread out all comfy saying to me " Comon in here. You should move here. I asked if he can just simply say the number and he insisted that I have to move there in order to received the answer. I couldn't stand more of this nonsense and left.
Another question that nobody could answer is what is "Price Fix guarantee $49 fee" that I have to pay in 2 weeks after joining the club. As the contract requires 4 month of commitment the price of the membership already fixed. So, what is the fee for? Nobody knew the answer saying "You just have to pay it".
Also, there is promotional flyers (waving the initial sign up fee) all over the place, I grabbed one of them to use at signing and "Salesperson" said I cant use it as the offer expired last month. OK. But Why do you still have them all over the gym?? There is also no experation date mentioned on the coupon.
Beside this terrible service, there is 0 inf on the website that you have to come 45 min in advance before any class in order to sign up in person. The classes are limited to 14 (!!! which is a lot ) people , so there is no guarantee to make it. As earlier you come, as better your chances.
I haven't noticed a single person wiping up equipment during my an hour long visit. The bathrooms are not clean as well. There are many people in the management who work on the strategies to attract people to the gym. But the works is wasted due to the terrible service at the sign up.
As much I wanted to join the club I would Never come back even for free to this place. Neither I recommend to anyone.
