Gym is solid, I come here 6x a week. Nice equipment, their app is nice and has cool rewards if you accumulate points. The staff is great too, everyone besides one of the morning janitors. Younger gentleman with glasses, hes good at his job (cleaning) but I always get weird vibes from him, either blank stares/glares. I've never done anything to him to warrant that so I toss it up to him just being a "hater". But that's not the reason im writing this review.

Around 9:45am-10am, a shipment of stuff arrived and the same janitor opened the garage door that is by the dumbbells to receive it. He goes out in a jacket, leaves this huge garage door wide open in December for like 10mins. Just very little mindfulness imo, meanwhile I'm in shorts and a tee-shirt and I had to get up from the bench/dumbells and walk away from the garage door as to not get sick. Listen we're all human and make mistakes, all I ask is to please be mindful of others especially in this cold weather. I work alot and dont have time to get sick, thanks so very much!

I signed up my son for ONE MONTH ONLY, and I made it extremely clear to the guy at the front desk at least 3–4 times that we did NOT want auto-pay, NOT another month, and nothing extra. He said everything was fine and only charged us for the first 15 days, and my son didn’t even go for all 15 days. Then out of nowhere this month they started adding random charges: $50 for another month we never agreed to, $40 for a maintenance fee, and $30 because I stopped a payment through my bank, which I only did because I had no idea they were trying to charge us again. None of these charges were ever explained or authorized. When I emailed the manager asking for an explanation or a refund, he gave excuses and then basically told me he “doesn’t want to reply after this.” He even tried blaming me, saying their worker is “experienced,” when that same worker told me the signature was only confirmation that I came in with my son. This gym is full of hidden fees, surprise charges, and zero transparency, and they treat customers terribly when you question anything. If you are reading this, I am still requesting that you refund my money.

Fitness Factory Rockaway is a great gym overall. The staff has been friendly from day one, always professional, and the equipment setup is top-notch. It’s clear they take pride in keeping the place running well.

The one issue? The crowd. Think Prison Break meets Boys in the Hood. It’s not the gym’s fault, but the clientele brings a certain chaos that can make a workout feel like a spectator sport. Some guys train shirtless, others treat the place like a social club, and the overall energy can feel rough around the edges.

Still, the gym itself is solid, and if you can look past the wild cast of characters, you’ll find one of the better facilities around. Four stars for great staff, clean equipment, and management that clearly does its part.

I absolutely love Fitness Factory Rockaway! The gym is always super clean, well set up, and has everything you need for a great workout. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole environment really positive and motivating. Working out with Ahmad is the highlight of my experience—he’s so kind, patient, and encouraging. He knows how to push me to do my best while still making sure I feel comfortable, and that makes such a huge difference. I have a choice of going to the gym on base for FREE or to pay monthly to go to here at Fitness Factory… I will always chose to pay for Fitness Factory. Pleasant atmosphere, the staff, trainers, and even the people that go there make the money worth while. The machines are up to date, bathrooms and sauna cleanliness is always at their all time high, and there’s plenty of weights and machines for everyone. The air conditioned movie theater and the women’s workout room is an added bonus.

This gym has workout equipment for everything you want to do in a gym. Multiple chest press variations, rows, pulldowns, leg machines, etc. Great machines and free weights. If a piece of equipment is broken, they are quick to fix it. Chris, Johnny, and Kevin do a great job. I’m really excited about this gym. Johnny was the first person I spoke to on the phone before arriving and he was so nice and patient with answering my one million questions. He was well informed and had all the answers I needed right away. When I arrived, Tyler helped me set up my free 3 day pass and was very kind and helpful as well. I was able to workout right away with no catch or hassle that I’ve experienced with other gyms. Mary in the childcare area is an angel! She is so sweet, gentle, and very attentive to the children. It was my 1.5 yr old baby’s first time being without me and he had an hard time, but Mary made me feel very safe and gave me lots of updates. I signed up for the monthly membership today. $50 / month for a non commitment membership that you can cancel anytime and it includes daycare and group classes. So far I tried the Zumba with Anthony, he is an amazing instructor with immaculate energy! The gym is huge with every machine or equipment you could imagine. The manager Chris is inviting and friendly as well. Very excited about finding this gem!

Just moved to the area, and the only retro fitness nearby is horrendous, so I was in the market for another gym. Planet Fitness was lackluster and too busy. A google search brought me to FF and it's probably my favorite gym I've ever been to in my life. The best way to describe this place, is that it's a gym for people that actually work out.

The gym is incredible IMO. Clean. Organized. Child care, classes a women's only section if you need any of those things. I think I saw a cinema part too? Almost too big really... I think I spent half the time walking around and exploring both floors the first day. Tons and tons of equipment, machines I've never even seen before. Even a CrossFit-esque section. They were playing classic rock, everyone was friendly, and the girl at the front desk didn't try to force membership on me... she just told me to enjoy my workout. (She didn't have to convince me, the gym did that itself.)

I've been working out 6 days a week for almost 20 years now. I've done everything from pilates to CrossFit. Weightlifting and functional fitness is the bulk of my training, and having had spine surgery a year ago, machines have become my best friend as they allow me to isolate certain muscles. The selling point that initially brought me in is the sauna... most gyms don't have them anymore despite them being super important for recovery, inflammation, and general wellness.

If you don't get results from this gym, you're doing something wrong. And for the monthly price? An absolute steal. Glad I stumbled upon this spot.

Just joined last week b/c it's so close to home. Retro Rockaway just closed permanently b/c they were evicted. FF is huge! About 50k sq ft I think I read. There's an upstairs area with free weights, machines, treadmills, bikes, locker rooms, and a heavy bag room for boxing. Downstairs has everything too plus a 30 yard turf area ... I haven't even used the downstairs. Cost is a little bit more than Retro. The locker rooms-showers could be kept cleaner. There are wipes all over for wiping down the machines after use, although it seems like I'm the only one wiping them down. Front desk area is big, lots shakes for sale. Plenty of parking. Someone else wrote about crowding? What? This place is huge I haven't experienced crowds. Not too many broccoli-heads either!

Back in my youth, I was someone who would constantly workout. As I’ve gotten older and had children my passion for working out had waned. I decided that for my son’s sake, we should both start going to the gym. I was helped by a front desk worker, David, who got both my son and I memberships. No commitment actually means Commitment. Don't fall into this. I literally called asking to cancel due to an extreme family emergency as my mother is on hospice and i am unable to make it in. I spoke with the manager and they were not willing to work with me and then stated that if I cancel today 3 days after the 10th they will charge me another additional month. I never asked to zero out my balance all i asked was if i can pay and have it stopped as of today and she said no and that i will still be charged for December. (Crazy). I understand it's a business however 3 days after the date and you guys can't even make an exception seems a bit money hungry. I would never revisit this location and they don't even have steam rooms anymore which is the reason I decided to go back. The most insensitive establishment ever.

Following up: after 4 months that this review was written finally I get a reply from fitness factory. I was not offered a credit if I was this wouldn't have been a issue. Let's not start lying now fitness factory get your story straight.

For starters, this gym censors anybody who leaves them a bad review. They report and delete any negative criticism about their facility on various platforms.

This gym used to be the main/most popular gym in the Rockaway area but has severely declined in quality over the years. Machines are constantly breaking and are not repaired for months. A lot of equipment is worn down and not optimal for use (ex: slippery barbells, faulty bar collars, etc). They are a massive facility and don not use their space accordingly. Amenities such as “cinema room” and “women’s only workout room” could be replaced with various better options. Half of this gym is a waste of space. Despite this, I’d still stay the worst thing about this gym is the membership base. This gym is loaded with little high school kids. There have been multiple instances here where my workout was disrupted by little kids running around in groups near me, and all over the gym. This place should rebrand from a gym to a playground for these children.

Overall, I think this gym censoring criticism and bad reviews speaks for itself. Not being and appearing transparent to members is not a good look, but they’re doing it for a reason. Go to Topshelf or Iron Culture, don’t waste your time here.

While the gym is relatively affordable, the equipment is only okay at best. Machines (mostly cardio) are broken either partially or fully quite often. Additionally, their management team is not helpful in any inquiries about billing or membership. My wife had ended her membership before the upcoming month’s charge, but was still charged regardless. Upon asking for a manager, she was told that they would call her back and took her name and number. However, after two separate attempts, no response was issued from a manager leaving this inquiry unresolved.

Had an accident today where my new water jug broke as I was walking down the stairs and spilled about half a gallon of water. I offered to clean it up with a mop and while one of the three employees behind the desk went to get a mop I used the bathroom. From the bathroom I could hear the staff laughing at me and belittling me using profanity(loud enough that I could hear it from the bathroom) When I confronted them saying “it’s not a big deal it’s just water” they had nothing to say and the manager/personal trainer(who was also belittling me behind my back) just said “okay bud.” Highly unprofessional and lazy group of staff working at 12:15 today.

Even while the entire group of staff was trying to handle the water spill, they continued to talk negatively about me while I was on the treadmill. Not worth escalating things during my workout, but I will gladly leave this 1 star review

Scam! That's truly what i would call this place never have i been to a worst place in my life. I went in twice to this place in a effort to help my girlfriend to gain more confidence. This place has been charging me 60 dollars for a month for several months now. I then found out they charged me for a 153 dollars today. I called to ask why they turn around and tell me they failed to charge me last month so they double charged me. So ive been paying 60 dollars a month for a gym i haven't even step foot in. Then they refuse to give me a refund for any of the money i have wasted upon this gym which i find just completely unethical. I am a personal trainer who was looking for a new gym because when I work out at mine everyone stops to ask me questions and it’s been affecting my workout since most of my personal workouts are being turned into one on ones with my clients. From the second I walked into this gym it was SUPER unwelcoming. I walked in and asked if I could get the free three day pass that is advertised on their website. The girl signed me in and asked me for $10 for the day pass. I had to remind the staff that the day pass is advertised as free and she responded with “oh yeah I didn’t know you meant that one” after I said “the free three day pass” three times. Then once we were finished setting up I expected some sort of explanation on covid policy’s or general floor rules since every gym is a little different with their etiquette. Instead she just looked at me and super rudely said “okay bye”. I was kinda shocked but I don’t go to a gym for the staff so I brushed it off and moved into the gym itself. I did a lap of the gym to familiarize myself with the area and look for something posted as to their covid policy’s. The entire time I walked through not a single person was properly wearing their mask. There was a guy who completely took it off beside me and instead of addressing it the staff sat there talking about how excited they were to go to a guys house tomorrow... other members were laughing at me and making fun of how I did my workouts (literally pointing and laughing and I will add in again I’m a personal trainer and I hold the gold standard for fitness certifications, I know what I’m doing I’ve been lifting seriously for 5/6 years now). I was so miserable the whole time I was there I eventually just up and left without finishing the workout I had planned. The gym is big and that’s cool but if you care about the quality of your workout this place just isn’t it, it’s a bunch of big guys who don’t care about their form at all and need super high weights to compensate for doing the exercises flat out wrong then laughing at those of us doing them correct. I thought maybe I could fix the uncomfortable feeling by going into the women’s workout room but that area is just a joke. If you’re a woman who wants a serious workout you won’t get it in there. It was a really bad experience and kinda ruined my mood and my workout. I have two more free days and I don't even wants to use the free days it was so bad.

After four years, I dropped my membership. Last Sunday I went in to find 3 guys who were weight lifting with out masks covering their faces.Their masks were pulled down to their necks. I complained to the girl at the front desk. She seemed to know about the guys. "Oh you mean the 3 guys in the back on the first floor lifting weights". Nothing was done about this. This gym is unsafe and won't enforce the covid rules.

I recently joined after leaving Crunch that moved to the old gym in Morristown. Fitness Factory has much newer equipment, is so much larger and very clean. Staff members are friendly and helpful

DO NOT under any circumstance give this gym your money. I stopped going because cardio machines were almost constantly broken, cleaning supplies were always out, and the staff is a bunch of high school/college aged kids that just hang out at the front desk on their phones and chatting to each other all day instead of doing anything of worth.

I called to cancel my membership over the phone. Was told I had to come do it in person. No problem! Went in person at 11 am on Saturday, November 30th. Had a young girl call me over to assist me. She told me my membership would be cancelled but due to billing periods December would already be paid for but that's my last payment. Again, no problem! I signed on the computer screen and she assured me that's all I had to do and my membership was successfully cancelled.

Fast forward to Tuesday February, 4th I check my bank statements and realized I've still been charged the last two months (January and February). I call and speak to the General Manager Michael who claims there is nothing in his system that shows that I ever came in to cancel my membership.

I insisted I did everything I had to do to cancel my membership as instructed and due to internal error I should be refunded my money for those two months. I suggest checking the security cameras for the exact time and date i was there. Michael says his system only holds videos for 2 weeks. He then says he would speak to the girl he THINKS was working that day and time (shouldn't you know 100% who was scheduled as a manager) and she conveniently can't remember the transaction from 4 months ago.

After much back and forth, I was still not refunded the money that was wrongfully taken from me after doing everything I should have done and was instructed to do. I have filled a formal complaint with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs office which reports to the Attorney General as well as with the NJ Better Business Bureau.

In summary, this gym is already in terrible condition with no efforts made by staff to maintain quality and cleanliness of machines, the staff clearly was not trained in how to work their POS computer systems OR they were instructed to scam me who knows!

Save your money and give it to actual working facilities that would never pull shady business practices like this!

Awesome rate, clean facility with two floors, and never super crowded except for evenings. The lower floor is dedicated to strength and conditioning. You rarely have to wait for a rack or a bench.
