I joined Fitness Inc because I was dealing with back pain and needed a studio that could accommodate and modify based on my needs. They not only delivered, but I now feel stronger than ever and confident lifting weights—something I never thought I’d say. I love how the semi-private sessions feel 1:1 while still offering the energy of a small group. I always leave feeling strong, confident, and like I got an amazing workout. I absolutely love this gym! I have been a member for many years. The small group classes and personal training have helped me get so much stronger. The trainers are amazing at adjusting workouts if you have any injuries or limitations. They really pay attention and make sure you’re moving safely and effectively. Best gym period. I’d give them six stars if possible (fix that google!)
I take semi private training, which has mostly eliminated my back pain. They focused on creating an individualized and ever changing routine, which for me includes stretching and functional exercises. Attention is give to proper form and exercises designed to challenge you without excessive weight. Some of the most strenuous ones have been with bean bags instead of 45 lbs plates!
The owners and staff have a strong knowledge of fitness and nutrition. In addition, they foster a sense community where every member truly belongs and is welcome.

I've been a member of Fitness Inc for about 3 years now and it's been one of the best decisions I've made. I genuinely enjoy going to the gym and everyone who works there is super helpful and encouraging. I do the small group classes and the semi-privates and have been able to push myself further than I had thought possible. The classes are a great mix of everything and I appreciate that the staff is paying attention to my form and offering suggestions and corrections as needed. I first came across Fitness Inc through a friend's post on my social feed and decided to check it out. From the very first session—where they assessed my strength, mobility, and stability—I could tell this wasn’t a one-size-fits-all gym. The focus here is on building real, functional strength, and every workout is thoughtfully designed and different.
The workouts challenge me in the best way and never feel repetitive. When I first started, I could barely touch my toes—now I’m doing full stretches like pigeon pose and feel a huge difference in my flexibility and mobility.
More importantly, I feel solid and strong. My back pain, which used to be a regular issue, has completely gone away since I started strength training consistently here. I’ve made real, lasting progress—not just in how I move, but in how I feel.

I have been a member of Fitness Inc for 8 1/2 years. There is no better gym in the area. The small group training is unique to any other gym I have been to. The small group classes and the semi privates are what I really needed to build the strength I was desperately seeking. After years of HIT workouts it became hard to loose weight and tone my body to my liking. Once I started 18 months ago it became apparent many exercises I was doing improperly! This shocked me since I spent years training at nearby gyms that had instructional classes as well. Shane and Katie built the foundation for their gym through their studies at Rutgers and I am happy to have found them and their highly trained team who quickly put me on the right track. The patrons are super friendly and the team takes the time to know you so they can give you the extra push you need while also making sure your form is right. I can’t recommend Fitness Inc enough!

After 6 months at this gym, I can honestly say it’s been the best fitness experience I’ve ever had. I’ve tried everything—personal training, OrangeTheory, yoga, Pilates—but nothing compares to this place.
It’s a local, family-owned gym that feels more like a community. I do 5 days a week of small group training and 4 semi-private sessions per month, and the combination has been perfect for me. The group classes change every day, which keeps things exciting and a little unpredictable—but always fun and challenging. The programming is smart, with a great mix of strength, cardio, TRX, skierg, ropes, dumbbells, and bodyweight movements.
The semi-private sessions feel almost 1-on-1 and have really helped me with form and posture. Everyone in those sessions follows their own custom plan based on their goals, which makes it even more motivating.
When I started, my goal was to do just one real push-up—now I can do over 10. I’ve also been gaining muscle to help manage my blood sugar, and I’ve seen real progress. I train five to six days a week, and when I travel, Katie always gives me personalized workouts to stay consistent.
Shane and Kate, the owners, are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Dean is also fantastic—super friendly, approachable, and always ready to help with form corrections or encouragement. They somehow remember every member’s name, which adds to the family-like vibe.
Many members have been here over a decade, and that kind of loyalty says it all. This gym is the real deal—consistent, results-driven, and full of good energy.

I've been a member at Fitness Inc for about 18 months. Having tried many different types of gyms, fitness classes, running distance miles and diets, I have gained and lost the same 15 pounds over the last 20 years. I was clearly doing something wrong, but I could never figure out what it was. And then I joined Fitness Inc. They have taught me the importance of strength training and how to do it correctly without avoiding injury. Every instructor watches the members closely during each exercise and tweaks our forms accordingly. My nutrition was clearly off-base as well. All of the trainers are certified in nutrition, and through a private session, mistakes in my diet were identified and a plan was put into place that did not require me starve most of the time, or to avoid cake on my kids' birthdays or pizza on a Friday night. By regularly attending sessions and following the nutrition plan with 80% consistency, I have lost 11 pounds. On top of my personal story, I also want to add that every trainer is knowledgeable, professional and nice. Each member has their own set of equipment during the sessions and the gym is always clean. The music and conversations are fun (even at 5 AM). The schedule allows for flexibility (early morning-to-evening class options during the week) and I never have trouble registering for the class that I want. My wife “recruited” me to be part of her fitness challenge team this past winter. I was reluctant to join because I hadn’t exercised in a while (other than Peloton bike workouts) and was coming off a recent shoulder surgery. From the moment I stepped foot in the gym, Shane, Katie, and all the other trainers put me at ease. The small group workouts focus on full body strength and flexibility- something I wasn’t getting from the Peloton bike alone. All the trainers get to know you personally, and learn your physical strengths and weaknesses during workouts. If there are certain exercises you cannot fully execute, they offer alternatives on the fly.
In addition to the group workouts, I attend a semi-private session once a week which focuses on strengthening my surgically-repaired shoulder. I view this as a form of physical therapy built into my gym. In the 10 months or so I’ve been going to Fitness Inc., I feel stronger, move better, and have dropped some lbs in the process!
Besides the nuts and bolts of the workouts, Fitness Inc. is special in so many other ways. The facility is clean, the vibe is always positive, and the people make you feel part of a family.

I’ve only been a member for a few months but I have nothing but great things to say about this gym! The group fitness classes are fun and motivating and the trainers are all top notch. I almost don’t want more people to find out about this gym because it’s such a gem, but credit is due to this fabulous team! My main goal is building strength and endurance in a proper way while avoiding injury and muscle imbalances. The owner does an hour-long intake session with each new client to gauge strengths and weaknesses and the trainers modify the workouts for the individuals in the session based on their abilities. Even in a group, the trainers take time to correct form and modify based on what they know about the clients. The music is on point, the gym is clean, and the atmosphere is supportive and fun. Great job, guys!

I've just crossed 1 year of training 2x/week at Fitness Inc. I can't say enough positive things about my experience. The team, the facility, the general environment and the other clients - everything has been incredible! I’d give 6 starts if I could!
I've done both, group classes and semi-private sessions. I train for distance running so I had a reasonable level of fitness to begin with, but I still couldn't press a 15lb kettle bell over my head for 1 rep (turns out you don't run marathons with your arms.) When I first walked in, Shane & Katie began with an assessment of my strength and movement and then custom designed my workout routine based on where I needed to focus. When trying to train on my own, outside of figuring out how to be accountable to myself to actually go do it, I've always struggled with what exercises I should do - i.e. "how to train". No longer a problem! Every few weeks over the year, they would rebuild my program as I got stronger. Through each cycle I have seen measurable/quantifiable improvements (I can press 40lb kettle bells over my head for 8 reps at a clip!). We've been building consistently: adding complexity of movement, sometimes increased reps and sometimes increased resistance (surprisingly, you don't need a lot of resistance to get strong - different from weight lifting in the 90s). For my personality type, going through that sort of progression and literally seeing the improvements is massively rewarding!
The people and the vibe are perfect for me! A constant rotation of good music, lot’s of funny jokes, upbeat conversation, and new friendships. In the semi private sessions, I get mixed with different people. We are all different shapes and sizes, at various points on our collective fitness journey and each with our own custom built workout plan – and everyone’s plan looks damn difficult. The facility is great. It's simple, always clean, always friendly and welcoming. I'd describe it as a perfect blend of working hard while laughing my butt off.
I read a lot about health, wellness, nutrition, fitness and aging (I’m a geek) – literally all the science I’ve read and studied matches up perfectly with how Shane and Katie approach things.
If you’re looking a place to get strong and fit (and not injured) and have a great time while doing it, Fitness Inc is your spot.

Fitness Inc is fantastic! I have been a client for over a year now. I’m 50+ with a bad back and before joining I hadn’t exercised in a few years and gained weight. I started slowly by attending 2 indoor metabolic classes a week. In the past year my flexibility and strength has greatly improved. My back is strong and I move so much better! I now try to attend 5 indoor classes a week and I’ve lost over 25 pounds. Katie, Shane and all the trainers meet each client where they are at. It’s a great place for beginners just starting their health and fitness journey and for someone who’s been at it a while. FITS offered a New Year New You Challenge and I encouraged my husband and friend to do the challenge with me because I thought they would enjoy it. I’ve taken workout classes my entire life, but usually after a few weeks of being new, the instructor/trainer typically stops paying attention to you. This actually once led to me tearing my meniscus in the past. I was so cautious before jumping back into a new gym and I can assure you that “new member” awareness does not wear off for Katie, Shane and the entire team at Fitness Inc. They are really watching you during each and every class to ensure you’re properly working out, giving you tips and cues to ensure you are doing things safely and efficiently. The workouts are challenging and always leave me sore, and the atmosphere is so encouraging, positive and safe. A few months in, my clothes are looser and I am so much stronger - and the team and members make it so fun! 10/10 recommend!

I started with Shane about 8 years ago for nutrition and he is amazing. He is so positive and knowledgeable about nutrition. I have back issues and Kate has worked with me to stretch my back. I’ve been training at Fitness Inc. since it opened twelve years ago. In that time, my body has transformed; not only in how I look and the strength I have, but perhaps most importantly, how I move and function on a day to day level, doing activities ranging from sports to simple household heavy lifting in the correct way — the training has improved my life.
There are personal trainers everywhere now. I’ve worked with several, but few, if any, of have the deep expertise of Shane and Katie and the rest of the staff at Fitness Inc. — it makes an enormous difference in the outcomes. The individual and semi-private sessions feature regimens that are fully thought through for the individual’s needs; it is true personalized fitness by experts in the field. Lastly, the whole staff has great attitudes which has created a community of fun and supportive clients. It’s a welcoming place to work out, and I always leave feeling better than I did on the way in.

Before Fitness Inc I thought the only exercise I needed was sport. I loved playing basketball, I was great at it but I was wrong… I need more, I needed Fitness Inc.

I started at Fitness Inc, in March of 2021. It was the first time back at a gym since March of 2020 before the pandemic. I was interested in it because they had classes throughout the day, including a noon class on most days which worked well with my schedule. (Full time remote). I was also impressed with how closely they followed Covid protocols. Each gym member has their own personal fitness space. I never had that at previous gyms. Now for the workouts, they are excellent, great combo or cardio and weights. Never gets boring. They are always switching it up. From Bikes to push-ups to Kettle bell
Swings, to battle ropes. The instructors are great. They are positive and encouraging and really pay attention. They give tips and advice and ensure that you are doing the exercise in the correct
way, so you can see results and also prevent injury. I was nervous to go back after not working out for a year. But, so glad I chose this gym. I lost weight, Built muscle, and have a lot more energy. Mentally feel so much better too! So glad I found this gym and glad it’s part of my daily routine!

I recently joined Fitness Inc and glad I did! The place is very clean and the instructors are all very nice and motivating! The workouts change everyday and they are challenging. I like that even in a small group setting the instructors are watching everyone’s form and providing individual feedback to correct form if you aren’t doing something right or could be doing it better. There are multiple classes a day which is super helpful when you have meetings and need to juggle day to day. Highly recommend! Also the app for scheduling classes is great- book day before and add to calendar- done.

Been a member since the day they opened! I was looking for a challenge and a change to the monotony of the typical gym. The trainers have exceeded my expectations! There are a variety of classes, levels, and private sessions to choose from. Each session is slightly different from the others. Fitness inc has “recharged my workout” at a time I was in a desperate need for a change and didn't even know it. I am a working mom that just got into a rut of sticking with what I thought I had time for and was resistant to change the routine or schedule especially after I had kids. My husband began working out here who has battled major back issues for years. He would get himself into good shape and then somehow would end up severely injuring himself and would spiral downward into frustration, pain, and demotivation. A cycle that he has not been able to break before working out at Fitness Inc. He has gotten to be the strongest he has ever been and enjoying activities that he has not been able to for years. He also has been injury free for almost 2 years and counting which is how long he has been working out at Fitness Inc. He has been asking me to join him knowing that I am resistant to change and have my set workout routine. I went to my first class and enjoyed everything about it. The people were very diverse with ages and were so welcoming and nice. The coaches were extremely professional and pay special attention to your form to prevent any injury at all times and the gym itself is motivating and inviting. You can get into any of the scheduled classes which is extremely frustrating in some of the other work out places around town. Nothing frustrates me more when you have the time slot to work out and you can’t get into a class. I am doing things I would have never done on my own but with coaches watching every move and creating workouts that help make you feel strong. Since, I have been working out here I have challenged myself to new fitness goals, felt stronger than ever all around, and it has helped me feel good about myself personally and professionally. Most of all....it has let me know that good things can come of change.............!

I joined Fitness Inc. six months ago looking to improve my overall health and appearance. I enrolled in semi-private training and I've taken the nutrition coaching as well. I can't say enough good things about the gym and the trainers. The facility is spotless and a joy to train in. The staff are expertly trained - always paying attention to detail and checking form. I am always pushed to the limit while staying safe and preventing injury. The members are diverse (men and women of all ages) and the environment is very inclusive.
Six months after joining my overall health has improved dramatically, my clothes fit better, and I'm stronger than ever. I've finally found a place where I legitimately look forward to training and enjoy working out. The small group schedule allows me the flexibility to work around my schedule.

As a woman over 50, it was getting more and more difficult to achieve my desired fitness level. I walked a lot, played tennis, and did yoga but I knew I wanted to take my workouts to the next level. I wanted to incorporate weights and strength training but was very worried about getting injured. Been a member for over three years and am a big fan. I came after getting injured too much doing Crossfit. Focus is strength, aerobic fitness, and mobility/body mechanics (usually underweighted in importance). They conduct fast paced group sessions as well as privates. I have tried a lot of gyms in the area over the years...this is by far the best program for me.

Fitness Inc is top notch and you'd be hard pressed to find a better experience in nearby areas. First, the member base is very diverse; all age and fitness levels are able to thrive. Sessions are kept fun and people are supportive. The staff are properly certified and have years of experience and schooling on the body. In all, if you add the hard work they will get you true results that are sustainable. I've had years of back troubles that Shane and team have helped me manage and avoid reocurring injury. Fitness Inc. has been my weekly go to for the past four years. I walked in as a beginner to weight training and they were very knowledgeable and patient about walking me through the steps of correct form and functional movement. Katie and Shane are constantly keeping up to date on fitness training and nutrition through seminars and clinics, which I don't think enough professionals out there do. They are very attentive to any injuries or areas of weakness you may have and always structuring your personal workouts around them. I saw Shane to get on a nutrition plan to be in extra-good shape for my wedding and it worked great and wasn't overwhelming like a lot of these "fad" diets can be. I am now eight months pregnant and Katie knows exactly how to modify my workouts so that I'm not putting unnecessary strain on my changing body, but so that I still leave feeling like I got a good workout. Highly recommend fitness inc. Shane and Katie have an exercise and nutrition background from Rutgers. They first focus on proper form in either small group or private sessions. Best training facility around! I joined the Fitness Inc family almost 2 years ago. It was the best decision I made. I tried many gyms but couldn't find the right fit for myself. I was overwhelmed with equipment choices and large classes. At Fitness Inc you will get a much more personal experience. They offer private and semi-private classes to help you achieve personal goals and long term success working out. I also started their nutrition program to work simultaneously with the work outs. I knew I needed to make a change in my lifestyle and fueling my body with the right nutrition while strength training gave me the optimal results I was looking for.
After having three kids and three hernia surgeries I was able to recover and rebuild with Shane and Katie through their proper and careful training. I've played sports my entire life and always seemed to be training for something. Unfortunately for me, I spent all those years training the wrong way. This all stopped when I started working with Fitness Inc. and training with Shane and Katie. I have never had such an amazing expereince and witnessed such tremendous results in a way that has made me stronger, more flexible and injury free. At age 42 I feel better than I did when I was 22. I have been training with Katie for the last 4 months at Fitness Inc. My results have been amazing, Not only am I getting stronger my endurance is noticeably better. I have confidence in Katie, she never lets me do a lift or move incorrectly, which at my age 55, or any age, is very important. I have worked with other trainers and have never gotten the 100% attention I get from Katie. The gym is so clean and uplifting and I love all the equipment, my favorites being the kettle bells and trx bands... and yes I even enjoy the airdyne bikes even though they are a killer workout! I see working out as a pain in the butt or as others say "a pain in the glutes". Alas, there is no way out of it so stretch I must. My options are to go to a big gym where the sight of all those machines and what to do with them is too daunting for me and probably too dangerous or to find a place for personal training like Fitness Inc. So Fitness Inc. it is for me.
Its a small gym with a modern and inviting interior and just enough equipment. Its biggest asset are the owners and trainers, Shane and Katie. I work with Shane and find it helps me tremendously and he adjusts the routine every week. I heartily recommend this studio and I have been a weekly client for over a year now.

They're open well before and after our 9 to 5's. I've actually been training with Shane for less than a year and I feel great! We always focus on proper form as well as building strength. Shane and Kate are extremely knowledgeable trainers, both possessing Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science. I am a Professional Firefighter in Elizabeth and a former Div 1 college wrestler. I came to Fitness Inc looking for workouts to compliment my avid practice of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as well as keep me strong and healthy for my career in the Fire Service. What i found was better than i could have hoped for. I found workouts that rivaled if not surpassed any strength and conditioning program i have ever participated in, including a major and competitive college wrestling program. BUT, what really impressed my was the scope of their training programs. Housewives, Businessman, Students, Athletes all training under the same roof!! They Offer amazing Private,Semi Private, and Group Classes. My wife and I participate in both VERY AFFORDABLE, Private and Group training. The Group Classes are designed to challenge you no matter what your ability and there is a huge emphasis on INJURY PREVENTION. I have 2 prior surgeries to my knees, as well as some lingering back problems before coming to Fitness Inc. Shane and Kate have helped me to strengthen the muscles, tendons and ligaments in my knees and back, which has helped to alleviate the discomfort and pain i had before. I am so confident in their knowledge and trust, i also have my 63 year old father with a history of stroke and heart disease train at Fitness Inc. There is no person, no matter what your goals or fitness level, that cannot benefit and thrive from the caring and attentive trainers at Fitness Inc. A clandestine gem in the heart of Garwood. All the benefits of working with a personal trainer in a fun, non-intimidating, small group environment at a fraction of the cost of anything comparable in the area. The goal here is simple, improving fitness.
When I first joined I was nervous that my work schedule would keep me from taking advantage of everything that Fitness Inc. had to offer, but luckily, I was wrong. Fitness Inc. offers a number of small group workout sessions scheduled throughout the day that make attending a session easy, even for the busiest "professionals" out there. Also available are private and semi-private sessions if you want a little more one on one time with the highly knowledgeable trainers, who also happen to be the owners.
Katie and Shane are living examples of if you love what you do then you'll never work a day in your life. They are fully invested in this place and show it through their dedication, not only to their craft, but more importantly, their clients. I had only been going to the studio for a short time when I suffered the sudden loss of my dog. You can imagine my surprise when I returned from work one day and found a "feel better" gift from Katie and Shane waiting for me on my front porch. It's the little things like that that make you realize that you are surrounded by truly special people and that you haven't just joined any ordinary gym.
