Have been a longtime member of the Atlantic club Manasquan and can honestly say I have used nearly every service this club has to offer, from the workout classes and yoga to the pool and saunas to the kids club, even the summer cabana pool. The services are comprehensive and accommodating, and constantly evolving to fit the needs of the fitness community. Currently am in my personal training phase, working out with an incredibly talented and knowledgeable trainer, Sandra. She is amazing and professional and tailors our workout sessions to my personal goals and to fit my busy schedule, even offering home workouts that are so convenient for me for when I just can’t fit in the time to come in. She keeps me on track and I can never rave about her enough! 10/10 for Sandra.

I'm a gold pickleball member and rented few courts yesterday for a birthday party. My sister drove an hour to come and play and may have left her gloves there. When she called today at 12pm, a woman answered, told her she'd have to come in to look thru the bin. When she mentioned she does not live close, the woman rudely replied that she didn't have time and hung up on her! Regardless if the caller was a member or not, they obviously paid to play there and deserved better customer service experience. There are many more pickleball club options.... very disappointing since I've been playing there for so long.

Love the luxurious amenities and service. The indoor saline pool is like swimming through velvet. The facilities are clean and welcoming. Excellent instructors, life guards, and support staff. Cleaning staff are visible, friendly, and manage to keep it sparkling. It’s a great place to work out, then relax in a great atmosphere.

My trainer, Nick is an awesome motivator. I normally hate the gym and working out, but Nick makes it fun and manageable! It helps to have someone who is an expert in weight training to make sure I'm doing it all properly.

I’ve had such a great experience at Genesis Health Clubs. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and has everything I need to stay consistent—from the equipment and class options to the overall welcoming environment. I truly look forward to coming in, which has made a huge difference in my commitment to my health.
One of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed so motivated is the personal training team, especially my trainer, Nick. He’s knowledgeable, encouraging, and knows exactly how to challenge me in a way that feels productive - not overwhelming. Since working with him, I’ve gotten stronger, more confident, and have actually reached fitness goals I’d been struggling with on my own. Every session is intentional, and he always keeps my progress and form top of mind.
I highly recommend Genesis Health Clubs, and if you’re considering personal training, working with Nick has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health.

I can’t tell you enough how I love The Atlantic Club Pickleball Center. Matt and his amazing front staff and coaches are the best! You are greeted with kindness as soon as you walk through the door. I love my Monday night ladies league, Wednesday and Thursday night Masters and of course Friday Night Jams and Slams. They have the best indoor courts around and I wouldn’t go anywhere else ❤️

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience working with Randy over the past several months. After spending fifty years in front of a computer, my body had certainly suffered the effects. When I joined TAC in late December, I knew I needed guidance to develop a workout plan — so when Randy reached out, I didn’t hesitate.
Randy took the time to listen as I described my various aches, pains, and goals. He created a personalized workout plan and continues to update it regularly to keep things engaging. He’s also quick to modify exercises on the spot if something causes discomfort. Thanks to his expertise, I’ve made significant progress toward my goals. I’ve gained strength, eliminated the daily pain I used to experience, and even seen measurable improvement in my bone density.
Working with Randy has been an absolute pleasure. He consistently demonstrates professionalism, attentiveness, and a genuine commitment to his clients’ success.

Good size gym, way more expensive than comparables like the fort. Equipment is not clean, personal trainers in purple shirts use it for their sessions and don’t clean it before moving to next exercise. Building has maintenance daily but this is more so moping/sweeping. You’ll actually feel how cruddy the free weights are when you go to pick them up. Place is likely crawling with germs

Our daughter has been going to the Kids Zone since she was old enough to start, and she’s now almost 4. She absolutely loves it! She looks forward to going every time—seeing all the familiar faces and getting to play. We’re so grateful for the warm, safe, and caring environment the Kids Zone staff has created. It truly feels like a little community, and it gives us such peace of mind knowing she’s happy and well cared for while we’re working out, in the cafe or even in the spa.

It's in need of major repairs, people for the most part don't follow rules - ex: wearing gym attire and sneakers inside the dry sauna, shower walls are always dirty, all the flowers at the entrance were removed as well as the beautiful plant pots at entrance - plants on the walkway in the parking lot.

Something’s Gotta Change.
This place used to be great—but it’s falling apart.
• Amenities? Barely hanging on.
• Bathroom stalls? Broken.
• Upstairs AC? One day a sauna, the next a freezer.
Karen, the trainer in charge, means well but takes it too far—yelling at members and threatening to revoke memberships for working out with friends. The new owner, Genesis, isn’t listening. The “new” equipment feels outdated, and the club’s vibe is fading fast.
The staff is kind—but they’re stuck watching the place spiral down.
We deserve better.

Locker rooms at this gym are absolutely disgusting. I have made several attempts to reach out and inquire about updates/cleanliness but nobody has responded they just say “Hello! Please be on the lookout in the near future for an email about updates that will be coming to our Manasquan location!” They charge an absurd amount of money per month to have locker room facilities with mold and scum. Poor condition of bathroom/ locker facilities should be enough to keep you away. Shameful they charge so much and have no apparent interest to keep their clients safe and update the locker rooms.

Fantastic facility, great staff, friendly faces. No matter when you arrive, you could be having an awful day, you will always be greet by the Front Desk with a smile and a kind greeting. Don’t know any other places that I may drop in and anyone cares about making eye contact, provide a kind word or a smile as the Front desk staff at the Manasquan AC. It’s not as easy as you think as we all have good and bad days. I have been participating recently in the Stretch and Flex program with amazing results. Every member of the team puts their heart and soul into helping each person, never assuming one size fits all. They quickly assess each individual and tailor a suitable program while addressing pain points. At completion of the session, range of motion increases, focus areas have been loosened with less pain, and always walk away feeling much better. Truly amazing program, and so many benefits. This has become an important part of my exercise regimen. Highly recommend trying if you haven’t already.

BEWARE! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! Please consider all of the reviews before joining this gym. My experience has been and continues to be a nightmare. I have emailed and expressed my sanitary and safety concerns for months with no response. This gym was quick to respond and charge me when I was joining but crickets to concerns/cancellation.
Let me spell out some of my experience:
1. There seems to be quite the disorganization and lack of training with many of the employees. I came in at the end of October 2024 to sign up for a membership. From November until March I was told every time that I came in that my key fob and member id was still not available. For months I wasn't even in the system. When a front desk employee finally was able to help me in March, it turns out my old account from Red Bank (I hadn't been a member since 2020) had been activated instead of my new membership, address, etc. None of my info had been updated except for payment.
2. This left me with a bit of unease. For months I came to the gym, went to classes, went to the sauna, and had to explain to the front desk every time that I was waiting for my info to be in the system and they would let me in. To me, this raised safety concerns. I could be anyone and when I am in the gym and in the locker room, I want to feel safe and not like anyone could just find their way in so easily.
3. One of the reasons I left my former gym was because I wanted the opportunity to take more variety of classes. I found many of the classes and instructors sub par and frankly, not welcoming. I tried to put myself out there and meet individuals in the classes and the instructor and it often felt like since I hadn't been a member for years, that I was disregarded or blown off. I want a sense of community and was sorely disappointed in this area.
4. Another reason I left my former gym is to be able to have access to a locker, sauna, etc. After a handful of sessions in the sauna and locker room services, I decided that the level of cleanliness was in fact dangerous to my health. Mold was growing most places and often the area appeared dirty. Almost every time I used the sauna, showers, and locker room, I felt sick for days. I am highly allergic to molds and it significantly affected my health.
And now the ongoing disregard and refusal to consider any of this. BEWARE! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! For the cost of membership, it is not worth one penny.

I wanted to add a good review of this place because like most businesses, people only bother to review the bad, and I almost didn’t bother taking a tour due to reading all the bad ones — I’m glad I didn’t listen and went to see for myself because TAC is great!! I joined recently after touring the beautiful facilities and am very happy there. Yes the price is higher than your standard $10-$40 month memberships so if all your looking to do is lift a couple weights and get on a basic treadmill stay at those, but if you want a variety of workout equipment and all the classes you can think of going on at the same time multiple times of the day, pool workouts included, this is the place!! They have EVERYTHING. I had such a hard time finding a gym that had classes I enjoyed and/or worked with my schedule (full-time working mom). This place finally has it. Multiple classes going on at all times of the day and child care if I need it in a clean space—and at a reasonable rate. I have used the pool, the temperature is comfortable. The locker rooms are fine, honestly I don’t know what some of the reviewers are talking about. A locker room is a locker room, and this probably the nicest one I’ve seen. All of the employees, instructors and clientele have been nothing but warm and welcoming, which is a lot more than I can say for other boutique style gyms I’ve attended that charge the same rate and not nearly the amenities. I have always loathed going to the gym and now I’m searching the schedule every day to see when I can get back. If you’re looking for a place with lots of options to fit your schedule, or if you’re on the fence because you read poor Google reviews, don’t trust the complainers and go see it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

I've been a member since 1990 and it's always been excellent however since Genesis bought the business the quality of the facility has really dropped. Several of the showers don't work, the bathrooms are dirty, the swimming pool heater has been broken for several weeks etc. The gym equipment breaks and there doesn't seem to be any move to fix them. It's so disappointing. I see several people have also been writing complaints and I'm not surprised. This seems to be a business wide situation because there are similar complaints about Genesis gyms in other states.

Place needs a serious reno. It has so much potential.. Disappointed in genesis for not putting some money into the place. The Locker rooms are moldy and unkept. Showers dirty, used towels all over the place. Water damage throughout the club. And because it’s unkept people treat the place like garbage and it shows.
Happy to attach photos if it actually leads to action!

The only thing good about tac is the convenience and price. The towels are quite literally grey from being washed for what looks like 20 years. The showers and locker rooms are moldy and unkempt. Housekeeping is basically non existent. When I rejoined LAST March they promised a whole renovation of the locker rooms including a cold plunge.. none of the above has occured and it's been over a year. Genesis upgraded SOME equipment but it's generally just run down. TAC is located in an area that has money. Renovate and charge more for a better experience. I'd truly rather pay more for something that could compete with lifetime.

It’s just dirty and falling apart. It sucks to see it get worse every month. They made a big deal about a locker room cleaning and refresh, then they started backing away from the promises.
The lower tile grout in the showers was basically all mold, they did not replace the grout, they put new grout over top the moldy grout, and used lots of caulk, it looks really cheap and they didn’t even do it over the whole shower. So half has original grout and the other half has new grout just rubbed on top. It looks unfinished. The mold has returned anyway and the caulk is falling off the tiles.
They did get the steam room working consistently, but it smells horrible most of the time, like moldy sweat. Some members bring essential oils to help with the smell and give that steam room feeling, the club is too cheap to provide these things.
The hot tub was also broken again today too. Only
96 degrees but it didn’t matter bc it wouldn’t turn on anyway.
Went into the sauna but it was jammed pack bc the hot tub was broken and the steam room smelt too bad to stay inside so everyone crammed in the sauna.
Just another day at the Atlantic club.
The previous owner refused to make any investments into the club and it became aged, now Genesis seems to just want to milk their new cash cow rather than make any investments of their own.
It’s no longer worth the money and potential new members should walk away.

A tragic disappointment after having been a member at the Red Bank location. This place might have at one time been luxury, but it isn’t now. The building is in poor external repair and the parking lot needs repaving.
While the indoor pool is larger with more lanes than the Red Bank facility it is the only advantage to the Manasquan location. There are more facility options than Red Bank, like pickle ball, tennis Paddel courts, but some of these require added monthly charges.
For the size of the structure and two floors the cardio and free-weight areas are small and crowded. And the equipment is old, damaged and not very clean.
The men’s locker room is in barely passable condition with dirty, yes slimy, shower stalls, moldy stall curtains, non-functional swim suit driers and is in desperate need of a full top-down make over - but it’s got a TV!! The steam room and sauna in the men’s locker room both need a scrubbing and a re-do. The Red Bank location men’s locker room had a continually circulating attendant cleaning up constantly. At Manasquan with a far larger locker room, the one person on duty is just picking up towels.
Well better than 50% of the lockers are taken up by long-term rentals and those members sometimes hint, by their behavior, that anyone without a fixed locker is in their way. They’ve been there so long they’ve got decorated lockers! This place long ago jumped the shark. I totally regret having signed both myself and my husband up for memberships. I’m sure we’re stuck till we can get to month by month. Don’t waste hard earned money on this facility.

Been a member 25 yrs. It was a splurge but worth it THEN! There were MANY classes. Miss the many great Zumba instructors we had.
Most classes still 45min., a RIDIC sign up. Hoped it was temporary due to Covid. NO corporate/veteran/teacher discounts, anymore. $145.00 month!! NO continous cleaning staff in locker rooms.
More $, less everything.
Extremely disappointed, made BIG mistake rejoining. I speak with many former members and ALL said they will never return.
Rusted shower rods in stall, cheap $ store shower curtains, broken soap dishes, grout missing. They put up new wallpaper/ mirrors etc. in locker room, priority should be shower stalls, more classes, and full 60min classes.
HUGE OVERPRICED DISAPPOINTMENT!!
TAC was supplemented during Covid and it certainly was NOT used for improvements.
Will NEVER recommend as I did in past, friends think I should go to their $35-$50 monthly gyms. But I held out with hope this was temporary condition.
HEY! ATLANTIC "CLUB" do you know Covid was 4 years ago?!? Bring back the fun, lively, less priced, NO sign up 55-60 min. classes. REPAIR the deplorable locker rooms.
I have pics that I can post on ALL social media of locker room, been waiting for improvement and hoped this was temporary. Still waiting for light fixture repair I reported 5 months ago in LR.
Virtual classes?! You can do for free at home on YouTube.
$145.00 month. 🙁 NOT everyone pays same price. Club was SO empty, they ran promos which brought in new clients that have NO idea the current "club" is an overpriced, former shell of what it was for decades.
Equinox Gyms price only slightly higher & impeccable. Too bad we don't have one here, YET..
New owners, Genesis, is my last hope, unless they raise dues.
Greed, not Covid, ruined TAC.

I'm sure this was a nice gym when it first opened. I have been a member for about a year. They have rearranged the weights and machines 3 times. Every time it has gotten worse. The workout floor is a very small portion of the facility and very crowded. I was hoping since genesis took over they would put some money back into the place. Instead they raised the monthly fee from 135 to 152 and neglect regular maintenance. There are wet spots in the hallway leading to the locker room. Broken/ missing tiles all over the locker room. The sauna has had missing boards for weeks. The steam room hasn't worked correctly for months. There is black spots and grime in all the showers. It really is a shame because there are no good gyms in the area. I'm sure they will be losing alot of members to the new lifetime that just opened up.

I'm thrilled to share that I've returned to TAC after a long absence due to Covid and caring for my wife for two years. This time, I've decided to work with a personal trainer named Rich, and I must say, it has been a fantastic comeback!

I cancelled my contract within two weeks of being a member. Horrible atmosphere. Extremely unfriendly staff working in the daycare room- not a good idea to send children who cannot speak there. When you attempt to talk to anyone about the awful experience you have been having be prepared to be bounced around to a bunch of different employees who do not care… that is including the CEO who will not return any of your emails. Save your time and your money- DO NOT sign up.

I love this gym even though it is expensive. The members, class instructors and cafe workers are so friendly. It is nice having a cafe where you can relax and enjoy your friends after classes. No other gym in our area has the variety of classes that The Atlantic Club has. The only downside is that at times the showers could be cleaner and the towels are on the cheap side. Other than that, I am grateful to have such a nice and friendly gym nearby.

New update.
It keeps getting worse every year. Last week the men’s hot tub was broken again, no problem I used the main one at the pool area even though it doesn’t get as hot and the jets are weak.
Next week the hot tub is broken yet again, but it’s broke differently, this time it can’t heat above 86 degrees so it’s a warm tub.
Tried to use the steam room but it was the end of the day and it hadn’t been cleaned so it was covered in hair and grime from a long day of use. I counted 8 missing tiles in the steam room. Loose tiles just sitting on the floor bc no one can be bothered to clean or do any type of maintaince. The steam room door handle rusted out and they just removed the handle, they didn’t replace it.
Management simply doesn’t care that the locker rooms are full of mold and have broken tiles all over.
The place is a little bit of a disappointment. The club is aging and things like the saunas and steam rooms constantly break. The men’s locker room is dated and pretty grimy. All the shower fixtures are rusting, there is usually at least one shower out of order, there is mold in most showers. The locker room is mostly tile floor and walls, the grout in the tile is brown and pretty nasty, it’s clear the grout has never been cleaned, god knows when they last scrubbed down the tile walls. It’s a drop tile ceiling with dirty mismatched tiles in some areas.
I’ve asked the GM about cleaning and I’ve been told that they clean the steam room only at night. No one has ever given me a straight answer about how often the hot tub is drained and cleaned. They have one locker room attendant that cleans at the end of the day. They do not sweep or mop or hose down the steam room at all during the day. 500 or more people use the locker room a day, they only lightly clean it at night. With one man, who is very nice but very old, and he makes minimum wage.
They offer lots of classes and keep a good atmosphere but the gym is dirty, services are declining and they are raising dues every year. It’s unknown where they spend our money, even the automatic front entrance door tends to break. They have a nice pavered area with the club logo at the entrance, but that is looking rough and broken.
I’ve emailed the GM about locker room upgrades and where our money goes and he does not reply.
They blamed the current dues increase on the minimum wage hike and a fancy security system bc cars in the parking lot get robbed and they’ve never bothered with security before, so now we have to pay more.
So yeah, slightly nicer than a planet fitness, but not really the fancy high end gym you’d think your joining.

Have been a member on and off for about 15 years. This club used to be pristine, filled with amazing trainers and a lively clean atmosphere. Rejoined a year ago after covid shut everything down and surprised to see the difference. The locker rooms aren’t as clean and luxury as they used to be. The showers have several missing tiles, missing grout, black and brown stains all over. The sauna was never over 98 degrees when I went, no matter what time it was - which is dangerous for bacteria growth. In order to get a full workout, you now have to travel between facilities because they’ve moved a ton of equipment out of the main gym area. I was also surprised to see how empty it has been for the few months that I did go. Of course, there is no cancellation so I’ve been paying for a membership that I no longer use. It’s disappointing because I enjoy a luxury gym, and unfortunately they’re the only ones around for the time being.

Over-priced club $$$$$ and poor care received after I was I was INJURED at the Atlantic Club with the back of a pool chair collapsing. No follow-up even after an incident report was taken. My back and neck were INJURED. I was sidelined for the entire summer having to endure MRI’s, Doctor ‘s visits and PT. I requested an 2 month extension of a complimentary membership through Jan Vansys the CFO as I was still recoverjng from my injuries. I was DENIED! Unbelievable! The CEO Kevin Hughes is chronically MIA so no help from him. Even with proof of medical treatment they are dragging me over broken glass for additional doctors notes to terminate membership. This club is all about the $$. Members come 2nd. Save your money and buy a home gym. Both are about the same price!

Went to weds night tennis clinic and after the clinic the instructor named John said I couldn't play in the round robin because I wasn't a 3.5 and I would have to come to more clinics first. It was clear after being there for about 5 minutes that there were many other players allowed to play in the round robin because they go there a lot even though they were not very good at all. If they were all 3.5's I'm Roger Federer. Place is an old boys boomers club. Will never play there again and will actively discourage others from playing there. Here are better places I have done clinics at. Little Silver Tennis Club, Colts Neck Racquet Club, New Shrewsbury Racquet Club, and Park Ave Tennis Center.

Been coming here with my girlfriend as her guest for the past two years. Have really enjoyed using the facilities here.
However, one August weekend, we were both disgusted by the arrogant attitude of the woman manager overseeing the check-in process at the outdoor pool.
We came on a Saturday and spent less than 45 minutes on the property before we were asked to vacate due to an incoming storm, which is understandable. A good percentage of those in the pool area, including ourselves, went back to their cars and left.
So, we decided to come back the next day. My girlfriend politely asked the woman manager at the check-in if the guest access from the day prior could be honored for which we explained the situation. We didn't think we were asking too much under the circumstances and had we been politely told "no," that would have been completely understandable.
Instead, this woman manager became frustrated with the request, and nasty and arrogant in her response. It was certainly not the way we would expect to be treated by the staff here -- no less someone who was in a management position.
Oh, and while I am here, the hot tub was broken for most of the Summer. I know people have been complaining about it, but I guess the club, with all the money they rake in from memberships, feel that it's unimportant to provide a properly heated hot tub for their guests.
Pay attention to the negative reviews as I have read many leading up to this one so things are starting to make more sense.

This place charges like a 5 star resort, and while there are bountiful amenities, the care of those amenities and state of them are lackluster. I'm sure they were great in the 80's when they were built. The pool looks like it hasn't been kept up for decades - delamination and peeling paint all over the place. The sauna, while nice and hot, looks like the wood boards haven't been replaced in decades. The tile in the bathrooms are gross and broken all over. The shower valves are wonky. I think the most illustrative example is that they broadcast music with commercials (i.e. they are too cheap to pay for a subscription). This place wants to pretend it is fancy pants, but too cheap to actually take care of the facilities. Sadly I will keep going because it is so close and I dig the sauna. If there were a Lifetime nearby this place would be toast.

Coaches and swim team are treated horribly. Pool chemicals are not properly maintained resulting in chemical burns and loss of hair. If not over chlorinated, conditions cause illness and sickness to the swimmers. Swimmers are forced to deal with the conditions. Coaches are paid little to none and treated horribly. A lack of compassion is evident.

I have been a swimmer at the Atlantic Club since I was about five years old and the place has since fallen apart. While I can easily go on a rant about the mistreatment of the coaches, they have now resigned so I redirect my attention on the complex pool. Every year that I have been at TAC, there has been an issue with the bubble. This year it collapsed and on many occasions the heater broke. In the summer we had issues where there were zero chemicals in the pool. This is damaging to both the swimmers on the team, and NJ swim employees(who work in the pool) alike. There are many people who have put their heart and soul into the Atlantic Club Swim team and have persisted through the many issues, but there is a threshold to what we will allow and it has been long surpassed. As I look for another swim team my senior year, I cannot help but reminisce on when the team was valued and when the amount of money the program generated did not trump the value of the people involved.

Simply Horrible. Ownership only cares about getting money from swimmers. The pool is constantly neglected. Many occasions where the pool cannot be used because there is not enough chlorine. Both coaches and swimmers are forced to be working in terrible and neglected facilities. Facilities that are falling apart and are dirty. Lastly for all their hard work, the coaches are underpaid and under appreciated

I've been a member of the club for many , many years.
I suffer from an autoimmune disease that took my left ear (deaf on that one) and have very little hearing on my right.
I tried for YEARS to ask in all the classes to lower the volume, just a little. I take my hearing aid off, put a plug in the ear , on top of that I put the Bose Cancel Noise, and still!!!!!!!! the volume is like going to a night club, not a health club.
Recently I've been doing the spinning (riped ride) class, because the disease causes dizziness and I can hold myself on the bike, Maria is great she lowers the volume, so does Kathy, Karen and Stephen can care less and they are telling me that the students ask to raise the volume, that is a lie!!!!!! MOst of the people on that class wear hearing plug because of the extreme volume.
That volume is not healthy for anyone , nobody benefits from that.
I go there to stay healthy , not to dance and drink like in a nightclub.
I had tried everything and anything possible, went to the front desk, ask the girls on the side desks at front, they will say " I see what I can do". They do NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! and I pay my membership just like everyone else, why do they have the right to go to that class and I have to stay home??????????
I'm not asking for a drastic lower volume of the music, just a 10%, lower, and on top of that they wear a microphone which they scream on it, and most of the students agree with me, that is just too much
. But yet..............nobody cares, there, nobody is aware of the "disability act", they do nothing to help people with disabilities, nor they have any compassion.
What kind of HEALTH CLUB uses that volume????? I never heard, never , ever, never.
This will be my last summer there, I can't go there anymore, I will have to cancel the membership.
It is insane..............botttom line, nobody there cares about you.
