It's a clean gym, and if you're just looking for a decent health gym it's ok. If you're looking to get strong or stay strong this place isn't it.

The powerlifting room is ok if you've never been to a strength gym. 2 ghost combos, 2 (unlevel) deadlift platforms, plenty of calibrated plates (does it count as calibrated if the calibrating slugs are missing?) but the bars suck. There's a Rogue OPB and some Texas bars but they could use some TLC. While it's great that they provide chalk here, there's no brushes to clean off the bars. Also the deadlift jack is falling apart and probably more dangerous than not having a jack. If you compete in ipf there's no point in coming here, if you do USAPL I'd still recommend Iron Arena instead.

The machines are modern and great, but there are no plate trees or racks so it's chaotic finding plates. Also for some reason the members here just dont unload the plates after they use them.

Im not the right client for this gym but then again I'm not sure who is. It's not a body building or strength gym, it's not a big box gym, not a gym with crazy amenities, it's just kind of a mediocre mix of everything and maybe that's what they're going for.

I went to iron culture in north bergen for about a year. Halfway through that year, they stopped taking payments from my card on file. I went almost daily for 6 months scanning in like normal & the whole time my debt was just piling up. Nobody notified me about this, not the app, and not the staff when i would check in. It took them months to finally come up to me mid-set to tell me i havent paid in half a year, and had a debt of hundreds of dollars. I said im willing to pay it right now, but the employee told me they had already sent it to collections.
absolutely unprofessional. nothing in this gym justifies its price tag aside from aesthetic & i recommend just going to la fit or literally anything else. so weird

I was visiting out of State and researched gyms around the area. This one stood out to me based on things posted on social media. I got a week pass and honestly I was just slightly disappointed because it’s nothing near what’s shown on social media. Honestly, the gym has the potential to be a great gym. Amenities are great, locker room is beautiful, plenty of machines. However, it would be nice if there was a rack in between the machines (other than the ones in front of the gym) to rack plates on. It makes it feel very unorganized and chaotic having to find a machine that has enough space to rack plates. It’s also a bit frustrating having to unrack plates to get a smaller weight, simply cause people don’t know how to put big plates first and smaller on top. I feel it would encourage people to actually rerack the plates after they’re done with their set and this would help lessen the time one spends working out. I’ve worked out at plenty of gyms to know what difference that makes. I’ve gone from commercial gyms such as planet fitness, fitness connection, and at one point Alphaland was my home gym. I’m currently at a private warehouse gym much smaller than Iron Culture, which also has a lot of machines near each other, but they still made the effort to put racks. Additionally, the benches are way too close to each other and to the free weight section. I had to skip some workouts cause I didn’t have enough space and didn’t want to be in anyone’s way. Also, the music could be better. Makes it feel like I’m at the mall instead of the gym. The vibes could be better too but that’s out of the gyms control. There’s a bunch of loud “gym bros” that take up multiple machines. I thought going early would be peaceful to beat the rush but no. It’s constantly busy. Great cardio machines!!

The gym facilities are very nice, but unfortunately the customer service was extremely disappointing. We were not allowed to enter because we were told there are no day passes, despite having called beforehand and being informed that they were available. Additionally, we were told we would be given a tour of the gym, yet after waiting, no one showed us around. This lack of professionalism and consistency was very frustrating and left a very negative impression.

I’m a new member at iron culture north Bergen, I’ve been in fitness mostly all my life started boxing at 7 yrs old became a three x daily news golden glove champ. So I know good gyms and energy this gym has them both. I’ve been a personal trainer since 2006-2020 so I give the trainers and thumbs up from the ones I see doing what should to help people reach their goals. I worked at a golds gym , power house and jersey barbell and worked out at many gyms so I will put iron culture up there close to golds gym and diamond gym far as great gyms go. Not sure why members think it is OK to sweat profusely creating puddles of sweat on both the stair-master and treadmill and not clean up after themselves yet management does not have a cleaning lady wiping or moping the machines on the hour?
With The amount of people coming through this gym there should be 4-5 cleaning ladies on staff. just look a the stairs on each climber and bottom of the treadmill..you will see compiled puddles of sweat everywhere ..disgusting.

This gym is awesome! So much equipment that you are never waiting on a machine. The lockerrooms are VERY spacious, and the showers are very nice as well. Two stretching areas, as well as extra space in the cycling room.

Some of the machines are a little too close to each other for comfort. However, if you are aware of your surroundings, its not a big deal.

But the one thing I would say keeping them from 5 stars is their bag policy. NO bags allowed on the gym floor. I could kind of see the intent with that policy as the floor could become crowded and people would be tripping over bags if they are left in the way. But this is a nuisance for serious gym folks/lifters that bring accessories to the gym (belts, jump rope, etc). I think they should reconsider this or allow some leniency because its annoying to have to go back and forth to the lockerrooms to get any items you need to use. It's the one thing keeping me from getting a membership, though I am still considering just because its a very good gym.

Staff is friendly, and approachable.
Most members are nice ofcourse you got a few bad ones but that's every where and also alot less here.

I was going back to legs today after a foot injury and a member I forgot his name helped me out with a spot.
It was great and couldn't have done it without him!

As a personal trainer myself feel welcome here but even if you're not a personal trainer and just looking for a great gym to workout in this is it, you will be overwhelmed by the amount of equipment, just have a game plan or go to one their awesome coaches or staff they'll help you out.

Trash gym. Signed up last year for an annual membership, ending 5/15/25 since I knew I’d be moving around then. Recently got charged on 6/15/25. I think “okay, fine, I’m leaving 6/23. I’ll use it until then.” A few days later I ask them to stop charging since my contract expired. They tell me I need to pay on 7/15 as well because you need to give 30 days notice. This is TWO months beyond my initial contract. They tell me my contract has already been converted to monthly, without notifying me and without my consent. No one mentioned any of this when I signed up.

Not only that, but the gym isn’t even great. Small locker room, pungent bathroom/shower constantly, and not nearly enough space. Forget super sets or circuits. Place needs a 2nd floor to comfortably fit everyone. Would be more accurately priced at $50-75, but instead it’s ~$110 or higher depending on which membership you choose.

I’ve had enough gym memberships by now to know that all gyms are scums, but I would’ve thought this one is charging enough that it didn’t need to use scumbag contracts and practices like cheaper gyms might.

Honestly, you’d be better off and happier finding a cheaper gym with more space and equipment.

I have been a member of Iron Culture since they first opened and from then until now, it’s definitely gone downhill.

First, the positives: the machines are top-notch - this gym is definitely more catered to the bodybuilding community, so they’re constantly adding new machines to their collection. Also, their smoothies are pretty delicious.

The main con for me is the lack of gym etiquette, including people not re-racking their weights, leaving barbells in the middle of the gym floor, and not wiping down equipment. I’ve also gotten into a few verbal arguments with people, one of which resulted in a man yelling expletives at me after I asked if he could keep his voice down in the sauna. I did submit feedback to the gym about this incident and never heard back despite providing my phone number.

Other cons include gym equipment not being properly maintained (an example being the uneven flooring of the deadlift platforms), extremely loud music, and aloof staff.

Each gym has its own culture and the one at Iron Culture simply isn’t for me. There are of course very kind members at the gym, but it’s the bad apples that unfortunately have made my experience there less than ideal. I do have my membership active until the end of the month so maybe I’ll go there again to see if there are any any improvements and change my rating accordingly.

Also, please be aware the average rating may be inflated since Iron Culture has had a promotion offering one free smoothie in exchange for a rating on Google.

Warning to those who want to become a member of this GYM!

I decided to give it a shot to the local Iron Culture Gym cuz its very close to my home and the reviews are good. It all began very easy to complete the forms etc and I became a member in 5 mins. Overall the gym is nice and clean but my first point to readers I used to go FITNESS FACTORY (which is so close) for almost a year and this gym offers nothing more with doubled/tripled price. (Month to month membership: $214)

The main red flag of this review is cancellation process! Upon my enrollment I stated that I need to use the gym for a month and the gent from the front desk gave me a paper that I have to send email to make cancellation happen. What happened was they replied my email 12 days later and after couple of emails they said they will charge an extra month even though I won’t be use it. Two things; I’m moving overseas (over 25 miles) and I’ve conversation with front desk gentlemen (they never contacted him).

As a local business they don’t afraid of the reputation, so I’d like everyone know this.

UPDATE:

I contacted the BBB after this review was posted. In the end, Iron Culture refunded the last month's amount willingly. Therefore, I'm upgrading my review to 4 stars due to the time I spent resolving the issue. Anyway thanks for them.

These guys are crooks. Their month to month membership tries to scam you by not responding to your cancellation request on time. You have email to cancel and they don’t respond prior to your renewal date and then proceed to charge you. I sent several emails and still haven’t gotten a response. I am a founding member of the North Bergen Iron Culture.the first year was great they had a fantastic staff but I particular a a fitness and personal training manger who absolutely the best. Trust me I have been to many gyms. Well as usual this particular person was let go for reasons I am not aware of. Since his departure the North Bergen location has been declining. Classes getting canceled at the last minute and then promises of a free personal training session to make up for it. This has happened twice still no free personal training sessions. As part of my premier membership I am entitled to four free proteins a mo nth. I was charged for 6 of them that totaled over a $43 charged to my credit card I called and spoke in person with the evening manager who was going to have the day manager reach out (this was in June) still waiting for him to contact me. Then in September I get a charge for something g that I did not purchase and was not even at the gym on that day or week for that matter. When I called they had no explanation but promised me a free month of my membership. Well that was almost 2 months ago and have received nothing. I have cancelled my memberships and am so disgusted and disappointed with the treatment I received. I feel if I was 25 and a fitness model instead of a 61 year old grandma I may have gotten some attention to my complaints.

Good amount of equipment I don’t find myself waiting for machines often just stay away from early peak times and afternoon rush… well kept bathrooms, towel service, sauna is a plus. Staff is helpful!

Came here for a quick work out and it was amazing. So many different machines and the dumbbells go up to 200lbs! Love the powerlifting studio that has everything you need to do proper deadlift, squats and bench for a person of that caliber. I enjoyed my experience so much I ended up becoming a member. I highly recommend this gym for everyone from novelty lifters to hard-core experience.

여행동안 운동을 너무 못해서 주변 헬스장을 찾다가 iron culture-north bergen에 왔습니다. 구글에서 뉴저지 최고의 헬스장이라고 해서 왔는데 역시 최고네요, 프리웨이트존도 넓고 머신은 파나타, 해머스트렝스 등 최고들만 모아놨네요. 처음부터 안내해준 Dylan 스탭은 제가 영어를 못해도 엄청 친절하게 안내해줍니다. 덕분에 빡운했습니다.

Iron Culture - North Bergen is absolutely fantastic! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The variety of equipment is impressive, with all machines being top-notch. The gym is spotless, which I really appreciate. The people who train here are super inspiring — everyone is focused and motivated, which makes the atmosphere even better. There’s plenty of space, so you never feel like you’re waiting around. Hice un viaje desde España solamente a North Bergen por que siempre fue mi sueño poder ir a los Estados Unidos y empezar ciertos proyectos de crear contenido en dicho país. Al llegar me dijeron que no podía grabar con la cámara. Bueno si, pagándoles 500 dólares cada dos semanas. La verdad es que fue una decepción y me arruinó el viaje que tantos años me costó conseguir hacerlo ahorrando en España. Ni contándoles mi situación me dejaron. No entiendo como gente que se supone que sabe de la industria del fitness no deja grabar a un chaval con su cámara, si real mente sientes amor por esta industria y quieres que crezca no veo el problema en grabar ya que como todos sabemos, el mejor medio que hay hoy en día son las redes sociales. Ahí demuestran que solo buscan dinero. Por otro lado el gimnasio me encantó, de hecho solamente fui por eso hasta Estados Unidos. Los trabajadores me parecieron un poco antipáticos excepto dos o tres que eran muy majos. Finalmente me fui de ahí y acabé en Houston. Donde fui, todo el mundo grababa con su cámara y el ambiente era perfecto. Por cierto, si tienes seguidores en Instagram te dejarán grabar y si no, no. No volveré nunca 😁

Great gym new equipment large variety of equipment very clean. One serious problem stuff runs music so loud my IPhone indicates dangerous sound level and it is sometimes hard to hear my music in headphones It even way to loud in the rest area at the entrance. Sometimes I need to make phone call but it usually impossible in the gym.

Are you thinking of signing up to this gym but not sure? Just DON'T.

PART 1: THEY TRY TO SQUEEZE EVERY LAST DOLLAR OUT OF YOU

Very very shady practices with their payment plans. Let's say you go for 3 days and then decide to cancel. You still need to pay an extra $150 on top of the $260 you just paid even if you bought the month to month flexible payment plan. Not only that but I have been harassed multiple times a day with phone calls by different numbers trying to get me to pay $150. They are illegally adding $150 more to my payment every month even though I wish to cancel. And No you cannot go into the gym to cancel you MUST either send an email or send a letter and wait over a week for their response.

PART 2: WHY THE ACTUAL GYM ITSELF SUCKS

Now if you're fine with all of that let's get into the actual gym itself and why I wanted to cancel in the first place. When I first toured this gym in 2022 the machines were nice and new, coming back to it in 2024 it was obvious that there had been no maintenance done on any of them. Some of them were out of order as well. The worst part about this gym is honestly how hard they tried to cram every little thing possible into it making it feel claustrophobic. Not to mention it's just as crowded as an LA fitness or even a Planet Fitness. Sure they have a cool little room for recovery but you can only access that by paying $300 a month 😂😂😂. Only other amenities they have is a small sauna room in the men's locker room. Another key thing I've noticed that doesn't bother me but others have said is that the music is annoyingly loud, very true but not bad if you wear headphones.

PART 3: THE PEOPLE IN THE GYM

And guess what, no matter if you come at 5am or 9pm the gym will always consistently be crowded because a bunch of hardcore gym people love to attend during every hour of the day and night. It's not exactly pleasant trying to do a mere 3 sets on a machine and constantly have people asking if you're almost done. Not to mention most people don't clean up after themselves so lots of machines are usually covered in sweat. Can't complain too much more than that though.

PART 4: THE WORKERS

With so many people you'd expect there to be more workers to accommodate everyone but I'm sure these cheapskates can only afford 1-2 people maximum at a time working the front. Lots of times there aren't even people at the front desk. They're nice enough but there just aren't enough people in the front, especially if they're in charge of making shakes while simultaneously trying to sign people up / hand out towels. Greedy owners for sure.

Now watch them respond trying to defend themselves saying I'm wrong with "false accusations" but you know what drove me to this point? All the B.S I had to endure constantly being called by their debt collectors while I'm in the middle of working. And no responses or communication or help of any sort from their gym while I was struggling to cancel.

As a final note, notice how they DON'T have any terms and conditions contract on their site? First red flag that I failed to notice. It's also illegal for them to give out my card information to a 3rd party just like that.

Iron Culture in North Bergen was much better than I expected it to be. As of now I go to the Cedar Knolls location but this one is honestly much better. The turf is 3 times as large and there is more machines/equipment as well as a powerlifting room with kg plates. Would definitely recommend joining. The amenities in the locker room are very nice too.

I came here with a friend to do a tour—we liked it so we came back to use the free day pass they provided. Overall, I was impressed with the equipment, especially since it’s on the newer side. I like how in the group room, you can connect to the speakers via bluetooth. I’m going to try one or two more gyms, then make my final decision on where I sign up.

The first visit is for free. You can find all equipment for modern training. You have as well slam balls, kettlebells and separate room for heavy lifting. Good AC and you can clean your bench with disinfectant wipes. I only miss a place to train wall climbing.
