Karate world was once the GO TO spot to learn martial arts in the area… now… not so much.

I’m not one to post reviews, but I’ve recently seen some very negative and untrue reviews from people related to karate world on a competitor’s school which my family happens to go to. I know the Karate World scene as my family was going there for years. The product is lackluster and the business ethics here are shady at best. There are some positives, however they’re far overshadowed by the negatives. One thing I can tell you, despite what the manufactured negative reviews say on the other school’s page… You don’t see kids from KW coming home with trophies year after year, mastering weapons, or showing strong morals. What I do see are fake reviews posted in bunches, some clearly by kids, even one person posting twice under different one saying they were a KW student and again saying they were a TKK student. We know they weren’t a TKK student. That’s not even convincing… it’s just desperate and should tell you everything you need to know about the thought process at Karate World.

To specifically mention another bad review that was left. When the twins were unfairly let go from KW, and went on to open their own school, people didn’t get taken from KW. They chose to leave, most of them were only there because of the twins who basically ran that place. Many who left were even forced to pay penalties to break the contracts they had with KW. That says something. This is why the KW demo team is never even allowed to see the TKK demo at the town street fair every year. They’d likely lose the rest of the students. If the product was better, people would likely stay. However, it isn’t, so people leave. One thing is for sure, I don’t know of a single case where anyone left TKK to go to KW. But there are a lot of people going the other way. That should also tell you everything you need to know. #JustSayin 🤷‍♂️

If you’re basing your choice on these reviews, know this: my family trained here for years, and you couldn’t pay us to return. Weak program, shady business practices, and not the type of people I’d want around my kids. #SorryNotSorry

Joining Karate World was hands down one of the best things our family has done. What started as a way to get the kids moving and socializing after the pandemic ended up being something we all got into. Grand Master Dunn and his team don’t just teach Taekwondo, they will help you build confidence, focus, and discipline. The atmosphere at the dojo is awesome, challenging but super welcoming, where everyone feels like they belong. We’ve made great friends here, and it truly feels like a second family. I have been here for 7 years now and I totally recommend. I have learned discipline, leadership, and have seem so much improvement physically. I started when was 13 then joined their storm team which is a trainee program to learn how to be an instructor. eventually I moved up to becoming a full time instructor. I am now 18 and now one of the top instructors there. I have done so much for so many people there. hearing their stories and what I've done to help them not just physically but also mentally is the reason why I'm still there. I look through these reviews especially recently as of typing this and I see how much I've helped these people. KarateWorld has been absolutely life-changing for our family! My boys struggled with behavior, attention, discipline, focus, and respect — and even our relationship as a family was starting to crack. I was so thankful to have found KarateWorld, because the improvements have been amazing! Their coaches provide personal attention to every student, and they bring so much joy to classes with music, games, prizes, and fun activities. Every class is exciting, memorable, and full of life.

What makes KarateWorld stand out is that it’s truly a family-oriented school. They host group events, parent nights out, and kids’ fun nights that help build community and social skills. Grand Master Dunn is a very good instructor and martial artist. But he's been less and less present each day. And it shows. He started missing classes occasionally, then for days in a row and sometimes weeks in a row, even on testing days. Problem isn't the fact that he isn't there; problem is his replacements are teenagers. His numbers 2 and 3 are 18 year-old twins who are great fourth-degree martial artists but still in the beginning of their teaching careers. They cannot be in charge of teaching classes to higher belts on their own. If Master Dunn can no longer teach the intermediate and advanced level classes on a regular basis, he should hire another senior instructor to be his number 2. Being a Karate instructor requires life experience, empathy, social skills, not only technical skills. The school needs urgent upgrade to the space too - it's small and crowded all the time. It's stuffy in there. Entrance is jammed with bags and shoes. Place is noisy and reception desk is in the middle of the noise. It's run by a dedicated family but the owner should be more present and should also be open to feedback from students and families. There isn't even a feedback / suggestion box at the space, this is the 21st Century...

Aside from learning to kick, punch, and practice self defense my son pursuing the first of many goals he will encounter in his life, the black belt. I’ve been trying to cancel for over 4 months , Save your money, there are a lot of hidden fees and it’s hard to get in contact with anyone via phone , and even if you want to cancel there’s a 60 day fee of $75 which was never spoken of on the day you sign up. The number on the the website is not the correct number there’s about 3 other numbers and an email you have to call and email to reach someone it’s ridiculous. My kids and I started over a year ago. I personally started several weeks after my youngest son started because I found it a terrible waste of time to sit in the back of the dojo for an hour waiting the entirety of the class. I was severely impacted mentally and physically by Long Covid and was dealing with intense pain in my low back, hips, and neck. I had not done any exercise for over a year when I joined. I was inspired by the other families working out together at the dojang. Starting off was grueling and I could not do basic things while my son easily became more and more flexible within weeks. I felt like a sack of potatoes for the first several months. In addition to the martial arts we learn in class, I was doing mobility work on my own every single day of the week. It took 7 months to become pain free. Master Dunn inspires us to be our best and to be there and support our children. He reminds us that 75% of the time you will ever spend with your children is completed by the time they reach 12 years of age. Master Dunn thank you for inspiring all of us to be the best version of ourselves everyday. I recommend Karate World to all families.

Our 8-year-old daughter started Karate World back in October of 2020 when you still had to wear a mask indoors. years and have noticed that the teaching methods here work. While u do have the support of the staff you are your own motivator and are able to pace yourself with your learning. While we do learn flashy jump kicks and some cool moves, they aren’t required because this school is more for everyone. They recognize that as long as you show you’re truly trying your best they won’t fault u for the inability to do some moves. I would recommend this school because it does teach you a lot both martial arts-wise and self defense-wise.

My sons grew up learning discipline, stamina, fitness, and balance. My husband and I had comfort knowing that they were physically active and learned so many great life skills. I love how young and fit I feel, still punching and kicking at nearly 50, and plan to for decades to come. I also know that I can defend myself if needed. Signing our family up at Karate World was one of the best decisions of our lives.

Me and my kids have been going for over a year and my kids really enjoy it and have made friends. I had weight loss surgery and since I started taking classes 3 nights a week I've maintained my weight loss and the classes are never the same thing over and over, like going to a gym. The owner is always doing fun things for the kids. I highly recommend it.

Master Dunn’s Karate World is a great place and environment for kids up to adults. My two children go there and love it. While some Karate places try to run through the class and get the kids out within 40 minutes, Master Dunn takes his time and class often will go over an hour. The kids love doing the obstacle course in the beginning of class and the rigorous workout up until the end. Each of the younger student classes end with a fun game that my kids always look forward to like karate tag. He has several martial art options for teens and adults as well. I currently go to kickboxing 4 times a week and grew to really love it. If you are looking for a great place that is very family orientated and clean this is the place. They spray down all the equipment and mats between classes and all students/instructors wear masks and comply with coronavirus guidelines. The best part is sports end after the season but karate goes all year long!

My family has been part of KarateWorld for over 8 years. My son, Joe, along with Mr. Adam and Ms. Tiffany, and all the other current wonderful instructors, make this place a fun and exciting place for people to train, young and old. Master Jeff Dunn continues to put his heart and soul into this dojo.

I love how people who have not been a part of KarateWorld for well over a year still have an opinion of how the place currently is operating...SMH.

My child was at this dojo for many years because of two really good instructors who are no longer there. People are afraid to write negative reviews of Karate World because the owner, Jeff Dunn, attacks them afterward online and in biting comments. This dojo is "might for money" and not "might for right." The morality of marshall arts is not demonstrated by the vindictive behavior of the owner whose anger has hurt many people over the years.

My daughter has been attending since July. Loves it. Currently 6 years old. She is not a sports fan but happily attends 2-3 times a week. Simply loves it. Good exercise and great lessons. Amazing parent nights out that she and her friends enjoy. They always come home happy after any activity there. Well run. Positive. Clean. Great place for kids that need the extra fun, games, focusing techniques and positive people connections to enjoy exercise and reaching for new levels of personal strength.

I lost 12 lbs in 5 weeks so far, this place makes working out fun. Oh, plus you learn to kick butt at the same time. Especially good for tiny girls like me, and the moves you don't have to be super big to pull off. I can break three boards with my foot, throw a 250lb man, and I can't even bench press 80lbs. So yeah, just sayin.
